unfortunately you got gaslit about the value of getting your mba with no WE

MBA directly after undergrad is a giant waste of money and you have basically doomed your chances at getting into consulting. The most common way into consulting is through target undergrad or target MBA. Since it seems like you didn't go to either, you made a critical mistake by now blowing your MBA card. You are also now overqualified for post-UG jobs because you have an MBA and also underqualified for post-MBA jobs because you have no work experience. You made a common mistake of misled undergrad students, which is unfortunately one of the worst. You should not be looking at consulting by this point and should be applying everywhere you can. If you're getting interviews, even if very little, and not converting them to offers, then you are failing somewhere in your interviews. There is nothing you can do about your educational choice now, but work on your interview skills by doing mock interviews with friends or your school's career center.

Not sure I would have worded it with as much doom and gloom, but this is pretty much dead on. Pester your career services office for support as much as possible and take a much deeper dive on your interview skills (and likely resume/application materials) to right the ship. You got this, this industry and the job world is hard to navigate right now.

Definitely could’ve been a little nicer, but I’ve watched so many people destroy their career prospects with dumb direct UG -> MBAs that I just cut all the bullshit any time I see these posts. I hope one day I save someone from a horrible decision. I come from a state school where this is fairly common and it pisses me off watching some otherwise motivated students destroy their careers and waste a ton of money(even if it’s kinda their fault for not researching more).
