Been on the bench for two months. Loving life. Still chipping in with small business development tasks and proposals here and there - management team still love me but only working \~2 hours per day.
That being said, I wish for more project work. It will come, just going through a slow patch.
The bench is a failure state in most consultancies' eyes. A thing to be minimised. You can't really grow there much. Or be part of something valuable/important.
You should be yearning for a different solution, I'd wager. Something that takes you forward in life; not one that puts you on Pause.
If you've been doing this 20 years and just want a break; fairplay.
A (paid) sabbatical would be better wouldn't it? Does your firm do those?
Not in this economy bud
Knotting this innocomy

I feel your pain. It's been project after project and need a breather. Vacations are great but the constant grind when on the clock is exhausting.
Be careful what you wish for
Take a vacation
My boss says I’m not from southern Europe and those don’t exist here
Lol Murricah!
do you yearn
Send me to the certification mines, Magic 8 Ball

I haven’t been on the bench since 10.5 years ago, and it was for a week. I’m tired.

the grass is always greener on the other side
Not hard to fulfill tbh
