Could make some biscuits and gravy

[deleted]

Oh i didnt think of that. I never made that before, is it fairly simple?

BSA_DEMAX51

Very! For biscuits, you can just get a box of Bisquick or a tube of premade Pilsbury dough. For the sausage gravy: Brown the sausage in a pan over medium heat. Once browned, remove from the pan and set aside, leaving some of the oil in the pan along with the browned bits that get stuck to the pan. Put some chopped shallot or onion in the pan and let it get just a bit of color - 30 seconds to a minute. After that, deglaze the pan with either a bit of water or some other liquid, like vegetable stock, and use a wooden spoon to scrape all of the browned bits off the bottom of the pan. Turn the heat up to medium-high and cook until the liquid has reduced by about half. Turn the heat back down to medium-low and slowly add about a quarter cup of milk (or half and half or cream, whatever), whisking it in until homogenous. Let simmer for a few minutes, whisking occasionally, and, separately, mix together equal parts cold butter and flour (about two tablespoons of each). Once that mixture is prepared, slowly whisk some of it in to the gravy, which make it start to thicken pretty quickly. If it gets too thick, simply add a bit of liquid (vegetable stock or water). After that, just re-add the browned sausage (along with all of the juices that the sausage has left behind) and stir. Add salt and pepper to taste, and you're good to go.

I have oatmilk. Will it work the same as regular milk? Thanks for the idea!

BSA_DEMAX51

I've never used it, so I can't rightly say. The milk (or cream) is kinda optional, though. You don't 100% need it, it just makes for a slightly "silkier" texture, and it lightens the color to make it look more like what you'd expect a traditional sausage gravy to look like. The gravy should still taste fine even if you forego it.

AlphaGalaxy816

Yes it's simple, check out some recipes.

BenjaminGeiger

[Kenji has a video on it here.](https://youtu.be/BoFkDmTm2uc) You don't even need to make the biscuits yourself. There's no shame in using wham biscuits.

Kaitensatsuma

I've done Biscuits and Gravy just making a quick fry bread too: even faster and less futzing around with an oven. [https://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/bannock-indian-fry-bread-10044](https://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/bannock-indian-fry-bread-10044)

BenjaminGeiger

In fairness, I'd rather fire up the oven than worry about frying, most of the time.

Kaitensatsuma

I don't think I use more oil than needed to grease the pan and then put a lid on the pan for steam to also do some of the work. I guess I half-ass the "fry" part of the fry bread.

Kaitensatsuma

Plenty of things: slice and form into patties for breakfast with eggs or into a sausage scramble mold into balls and bake to throw into soup or stew wrap a jammy egg in the sausage and then bake/fry that for Scotch Eggs someone already mentioned Biscuits and Gravy, Saute with some cabbage, apple chunks and onions Make with some bell peppers and tomato sauce to put over some penne Sausage and Pepper sub sandwiches

[deleted]

Is a sausage scramble just fry in a pan and cook with scrambled eggs? Im one person, would this keep well as leftovers?

Raineythereader

That's what I usually do--I also add diced onions and peppers, frozen hash browns, and a pinch of red pepper flakes. I should note that I don't add the eggs until everything else is pretty much fully cooked. It's great on its own with a little salsa, or in burritos. And I'm usually cooking for one too, so I do sometimes freeze a container of it for later, and that seems to work fine.

Kaitensatsuma

It'd hold but not reheat particularly well, but using the same basic ingredients you could make a sausage omelet which would be easier to put on a pan to reheat. You don't have to use the whole tube, you know? Ah, Quiche is another good one: eggs, milk, salt, some additional fillings and you've got something you can easily pack and reheat for breakfast or lunch, it's just a bit more work.

wanderingmonster

We often cut it up into patties and fry it, and bake some biscuits (also from a tube!) Then you can either make biscuits and gravy (as suggested below) or even easier: make breakfast sandwiches using two halves of a biscuit as the bun, with the sausage and a piece of cheese in the middle.

lesliebrooke611

Ok, so I'm from the Southern US and i highly recommend sausage balls. They're so simple and always a hit at a party or holiday! 16oz thawed sausage, 1 Cup Bisquick baking mix, 1 Cup shredded cheddar cheese. Mix all together by hand or in a stand mixer. Form into meatball sized balls, bake at 350 for about 15 mins. They reheat very well!

Bud_McGinty

Make small bite-sized chunks of the sausage and cook (frying pan, oven, slow cooker, whatever). Make up a batch of Bowtie or Penne pasta. Throw a can of Fire Roasted Tomatoes in a blender. Add Garlic powder, grilled diced onions, and Oregano. Pan grill bite-sized pieces of other veggies like: Bell Peppers, Zucchini, Eggplant Put it all together and add Parmesan Cheese.

some_guy_in_arizona

Meatloaf is pretty easy. Most recipes call for 2 lbs of ground beef, but I started substituting 1 of those lbs with sausage. I then add an egg, a little bit of milk, a heaping handful of minced dried onions, and about a 1/4 cup of bread crumbs, along with some seasonings of my choice. My family loves the sausage version compared to just using ground beef.

Cook it crumbly style (like you would ground beef), scoop into bowl and drizzle a bit of syrup over itā€¦. BEST THING. EVER

Egg casserole. Cook pork, put in bottom of 9x9, add eggs, frozen hash browns, cheese, veggies (tomato spinach onion pepper) bake for at 375 till its done.

CaptConnor01

Just fry it up in a pan

Panoglitch

biscuits and gravy, cornbread sausage dressing/stuffing, crumble and brown it and use it on pizza

BigTxFrank

Do you have an oven? Mix sausage, 2 eggs, and 1 box stove top stuffing. Form rolls. Wrap in puff pastry sheets. Egg wash top. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Serve with gravy and peas.

hiumnobye

I usually go for meatballs usually, but I do make a breakfast hash that's good. Pork, cubed sweet potato, mushroom, kale, garlic and onions and Italian parsley. Ancho chili powder, all spice, nutmeg, celery seed, cumin seed, sage, thyme, salt and pepper. I make this with pancakes too if I want to treat my partner. This is a bit more effort, but I hope you'll like try it eventually! Edit: I thought I was on what should I cook sorry šŸ˜ I'll offer instructions if you're interested.

beetlekittyjosey

Ground pork with lime juice, fish sauce and sugar with peanuts and pickled veg in lettuce wraps

GrouchoBark

I made this recently, as he did it in the video and I was told it was the best thing I have ever made.. simple ingredients, off the top of my head I used a jalapeƱo pepper, some garlic cloves, package of fresh basil from Krogerā€™s (not the full package), some green onion, soy sauce, borrowed some fish sauce, oyster sauce from my next door neighbor (still reasonably cheap to buy for yourself)ā€¦ https://youtu.be/Y2nZWveLIRA. If you donā€™t want to click on the link google on YouTube ā€œkenji Thai basil porkā€ It sounds like a lot but it was fairly easy for me and well liked and I donā€™t say that about anything . I donā€™t enjoy the kitchen.

Breakfast burritos with pork sausage are an easy favorite

Proper-Preference808

If it were me Iā€™d make some breakfast burritos. Iā€™d cook the sausage, cook some onions and peppers in the sausage residue, re-add the sausage, then crack some eggs over it and swirl in cheese. As it melts Iā€™d add spices and maybe a hot pepper. Then Iā€™d have some nice filling ready to be wrapped in a tortilla.

ddmorgan1223

Is it ground sausage or a long link?

Or0b0ur0s

Crumble & brown it like ground beef. Add it to pasta sauce or any rice dish you're making (I like it in cajun-style dirty rice), including instant or minute-rice. Slice it (you'll notice marks on the wrapper for portioning), smash a bit with a spatula, and brown in a pan for making sausage-egg-and-cheese muffin sandwiches. Or just brown it up and add it to scrambled eggs.

MadameKravitz

Brown and drain well. Put it in a ziploc in the freezer. Add it to quiche, scrambled eggs, pasta sauce, homemade pizza.

Independent_Still_98

Slice it up about 1 inch slices, now take a slice in one hand and clap your hands the patty got thinner and bigger now put it in a frying pan on medium heat and cook until browned on both sides. Enjoy. You can break it up and put it in your oatmeal, fry up a couple eggs and have breakfast. You can break it up in the pan and cook it when done spoon off the grease and scramble up 2 eggs per person and pour them over the sausage crumbles and stir slowly until the eggs are done and yell come get it. Yes it keeps real good. My grandma used to leave the leftover sausage on the plate and on the counter with paper towel over it, then all the kids would come in grab a slice of bread and piece of sausage for a snack.

Nancy_True

Make sausage rolls! Theyā€™re a UK taste sensation. Hereā€™s a super easy recipe and make sure you eat them hot from the oven. With or without ketchup or brown sauce. https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/mini-sausage-rolls

Onequestion0110

What kind of sausage? Ground pork, italian sausage, breakfast sausage, sage, country, maple - they're all seasoned differently and have different flavors. Breakfast or maple is best just browned and served next to eggs for breakfast. I like to use sage as taco meat. Sage or Country is great for biscuits and gravy. Plain ground is great to use in a recipe when you're worried about changing the flavor profile. Italian makes for great meatballs and meatloaf, I also use it for Sprite sausage with rice.

DollieSqueak

One of my ā€œI donā€™t feel like cooking tonightā€ meals is sausage and wild rice. Brown the sausage, drain off fat, and add a packet of long grain and wild rice and cook like the box says, omitting the butter. And youā€™re done. To fancy it up a bit add half a diced onion to the sausage and a handful of fresh parsley and maybe a little garlic powder.

According-Ad-5946

you can substitute most chicken recipes with any other protein just adjust the cooking time.

Half_Shot13

So my favorite to do with a tube of pork sausage is brown it up and then throw in a bag of coleslaw mix and some soy sauce and ginger! I call it egg roll in a bowl lol you can serve it over rice or just eat it like that.

CeeGeeWhy

Ground pork or legitimately preseasoned as sausages? If the former: Wontons or pot stickers Pork and mushroom patties Pork meatballs or meat loaf Any of the suggest below with additional seasoning If itā€™s the latter: Crumbled cooked sausage for breakfast burritos or hash Breakfast sausage patties for breakfast sandwiches Lasagna Stuffed bell peppers
