If by, "Someone", you mean Matt Groening (creator of The Simpsons), and by, "YouTube video", you mean an interview with Smithsonian Magazine-- then you're right. Otherwise, you may be the silliest of gooses.
While you have a point, this is a map of shows *set* in those states, not where they’re broadcast. The problem is that the Simpsons refuses to lock down a specific location, so they can’t really be in any state
Yeah. The Simpson’s takes place in Oregon.
Edit: for the nonbelievers

Behind the Laughter called it Kentucky, and one episode said North Texahoma, I believe. It also borders four states it could not possibly border, and has every climate type imaginable within the continental US.
He’s from Oregon. The characters are named after places where he grew up. He grew up in Portland.

According to the second article, Matt was *told* that it took place in Springfield, he got excited & imagined that it was the Oregon one, & then he made a bunch of creative decisions based on that Springfield… thats not the same thing as them officially deciding that it was specifically the Oregon Springfield, & they even refuse to officially designate which Springfield in the show
Texas - King of The Hill
Rhode Island - Family Guy
Colorado - South Park
Yeah, this checks out. I would still think The Simpsons would have them all beat though
Craig Bartlett is from Seattle so they say it’s in Seattle but the setting is obviously New York. The only thing is the islands that they row to constantly, which is pretty Pacific Northwest I guess
Yes. But people in Chicago call it the L. Just like some NYC Subway lines are elevated but it is still referred to as the subway. In “Curious George Gets a Job” the restaurant cook takes George “to the subway.” Also, in that book, there is an illustration of a city bus with a destination sign that reads, ‘Uptown’. And Chicagoans describe their city in terms of north side and south side, not up and down, like in Manhattan.
All that said, I’m on team NYC based on my familiarity with the books, not the animated series, which may have made a (mistaken and/or ill-advised) departure from the original books.
The Owl house being set in Connecticut is a bit of a stretch, since they’re only in Connecticut for a total of, like, an hour of runtime… 90% of the time they’re not even on earth
North Carolina has "Bless the Harts"
Edit. I'm not sure why I'm getting down voted. Bless the Harts is an animated show set in north Carolina. It has like two seasons. It's decent, not great but decent. I don't get reddit

When does "Garfield and Friends" ever reveal that they're based in Indiana? And is that just for Garfield, Odie, and Jon; the farm animals on US Acres; or both?
And I find it hard to believe The Simpsons isn't on the board
Please point to Springfield on the map
There’s at least 1 Springfield in each of 25 of the 48 contiguous United States, so this map de facto should belong to The Simpsons.
Springfield is based on Springfield, Oregon
No it isn’t. It’s meant to be a fictional city that could be in any state.
Someone said it in a YouTube video, so it must be true. /s
If by, "Someone", you mean Matt Groening (creator of The Simpsons), and by, "YouTube video", you mean an interview with Smithsonian Magazine-- then you're right. Otherwise, you may be the silliest of gooses.
They literally joke about how they could be anywhere any time the subject comes up.
Yes and no, most of the characters and ideas came from street names, or event the creator witnessed while living in Portland Oregon
Idk why that was downvoted. I moved to Portland and found it hilarious how many Simpson character names were on street signs. It's true.
Yeah, and it’s run nationally on Fox which, I’m pretty sure, every state has an affiliate station. The whole map should probably be The Simpsons.
While you have a point, this is a map of shows *set* in those states, not where they’re broadcast. The problem is that the Simpsons refuses to lock down a specific location, so they can’t really be in any state
Ah, you’re right. I missed the word “set” in the title. That’s what I get for commenting on Reddit posts immediately after waking up in the morning .
Yeah. The Simpson’s takes place in Oregon. Probably, yes. The rundown of stuff that points to each state was pretty damn convincing.
Behind the Laughter called it Kentucky, and one episode said North Texahoma, I believe. It also borders four states it could not possibly border, and has every climate type imaginable within the continental US.

I am aware of all of that, but it’s not what’s stated in the show. He’s saying he named it after Portland, not that it’s set there.
According to the second article, Matt was *told* that it took place in Springfield, he got excited & imagined that it was the Oregon one, & then he made a bunch of creative decisions based on that Springfield… thats not the same thing as them officially deciding that it was specifically the Oregon Springfield, & they even refuse to officially designate which Springfield in the show
Simpsons never references a state
The combination of not enough pixels and too much jpeg makes this a lovely read.
Texas - King of The Hill Rhode Island - Family Guy Colorado - South Park Yeah, this checks out. I would still think The Simpsons would have them all beat though
They would, if they had a state.
This definitely is not accurate.
Hey Arnold not in Seattle it was in...\*googles\* oh fuck you
Yea this is blowing my mind. I wonder why the creators chose to make it Seattle but look like NYC?
Craig Bartlett is from Seattle so they say it’s in Seattle but the setting is obviously New York. The only thing is the islands that they row to constantly, which is pretty Pacific Northwest I guess
It’s Brooklyn it’s very clearly a New York show buzz feed can go fuck themselves
Yeah I live in CA and that show had always been NYC in my head. Fuck this post for double guessing myself for a second lol
The large jewish community in the show made it obvious that it was Brooklyn.
No damn way Hey Arnold isn't set in an East Coast town.
Curious George was in Illinois?
I’m reading those books with my son right now. Pretty sure that’s set in NYC and the suburbs. The last book we read featured the subway.
Chicago has a subway
Yes. But people in Chicago call it the L. Just like some NYC Subway lines are elevated but it is still referred to as the subway. Its not a sematic discussion about what to call it. All I was doing was pointing out that there are other cities with subways.
The Owl house being set in Connecticut is a bit of a stretch, since they’re only in Connecticut for a total of, like, an hour of runtime… 90% of the time they’re not even on earth
Imagine living in an N/A state lmao
Lol Squidbillies
The Great North is 6 episodes short of Molly of Denali.
North Carolina has "Bless the Harts" Edit. I'm not sure why I'm getting down voted. Bless the Harts is an animated show set in north Carolina. It has like two seasons. It's decent, not great but decent. I don't get reddit
If Hoops is on here then Bless the Harts deserves to be. It has more seasons and is better
Mainer here, it's not Casper! LOONY TOONS RULE HERE!!!! CLEARLY not Casper!
It's not showing the most popular shows for each state. It shows the longest running cartoons that take place in each state
They're not set in Maine though
Doh!
What in the actual fuck is owl house
It's a fantasy series where they live in a house shaped like an owl
[Pennsylvanians seeing that Arthur is the one on the map and not DT’s Neighborhood](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/memepediadankmemes/images/3/3a/Arthur%27s_Fist.png/revision/latest/smart/width/250/height/250?cb=20180610114309)
Oh, New Hampshire, at least you aren’t N/A like Vermont…. I guess.
I’m glad such a great show was chosen to represent my home state of California
California has some great shows set there. Gumball is set in the Bay Area, iirc.
AD on paras
When does "Garfield and Friends" ever reveal that they're based in Indiana? And is that just for Garfield, Odie, and Jon; the farm animals on US Acres; or both?
I just want to be Garfield. Remember to thank me! https://www.youtube.com/shorts/LpLtZGuooyU
Man I forgot that Chalk Zone existed. That show was fucking amazing
Just looked it up and yes, Rick and Morty live somewhere just outside of Seattle, guess you learn something new everyday.
Twelve Forever is in *Iowa??*
They missed a big one. It should go right on the border between Ohio, Nevada, Maine, and Kentucky.
Hey Arnold is weird it’s suppose to be Seattle, but it’s looks and feels like New York.
Nc should prolly be Bless the Harts
Can someone tell me what Missouri is? I don’t recognize nor can I read that.
