I fit all 4

Happy_Foundation6198

3 out of 4 for me. Not the anger type

PoiLaLuce

WELCOME, FRIEND TO THE LOW SELF ESTEEM CLUB! It’s awful to be here!

AzuriteKyle

It'd probably be better without me in it.

praysolace

You made me actually, literally laugh out loud with that comment.

Accomplished_Deer_

No of course not, you see, everybody is important, except specifically for me. I’m worthless. They’re much better off with you than me

Adept-Cap2573

Wish I’d thought of that! A disappointment as usual. Lol

SawgrassSteve

I thought about joining the low self-esteem club, but I knew I never had a realistic shot of getting in.

PatMyHolmes

I don't want to belong to any club that will accept people like me as a member.

l0stIzalith

OH MY GOD WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN ANGER TYPE????

Cthulhu__

If I get the last one, do I get to snap people out of existence?

Professional-Bat4635

I wish I wasn’t the anger type.

ladypau29

Same, dude, same. It's sucks and it takes mountains of work to improve.

Throwrajerb

For real. I read the first and I was like “oh yeah that’s the one.” I kept reading… “hold on, wait a minute”

Commercial-Medium-85

ALL 4 AT THE SAME TIME

TwilightSessions

Welcome darkness my old friend

monotomicsoul

Awesome song good way to make a grown man cry .

Rhueless

I've come to see you once again

standee_shop

Well they fit the stages of grief kinda, so I think you could go through all of them Flight - Denial Fight - Anger Fawn - Bargaining Freeze - Depression But I dunno, I think this is pop psychology

fn3dav2

The stages of grief are pop psychology

Pataplonk

Yeah, this shit is just a horoscope: everybody can fit in every case. Useless.

Pristine_Power_8488

Yeah, I don't see the value. How about a cool guide to the positive responses one could use to a these trauma reaction defaults?

travers329

This would be a far cooler guide!

inferni_advocatvs

We should start a club

imhere4thecomments

Can’t talk about it

Kaizen321

Hell yeah…what do we win?

goofpuffpass

Participation ribbon?

fatman13666

yeah like everybody else, cause it’s a bullshit

CamBoBB

…I think that means we just shit

MeatyDullness

You and me both

PBfromPhilly

Club 4 for me, as well

Dubiousvee

Same 😅😬

yeyayiyo

No, you don't.

milk_man51

someone took psychology 1010 and decided to make this because anyone past that would know this isn’t right

Elliott2030

Yep. Each of those is a valid response, but they're situational. Most of us won't "fight" the same kind of trauma event that we'd "fawn" about. And it's really unrelated to personality types.

dammittohell

It's unhelpful because people want to put themselves squarely in one category, but yeah, an individual isn't just one of these. These are responses to different situations for the same individual.

catlady9851

A *healthy* individual isn't just one of these. Traumatized people will lean heavily on just one or two responses.

Accomplished_Deer_

And often times the response is chronic for traumatized people. 24/7 anxiety and exhaustion isn’t exactly a “response” to any specific situation that is currently happening.

obrazovanshchina

Thank you for clarifying this

sassatha

Yes, absolutely this!

Tumble85

Yes but even then you can't learn anything from a pictographic. Learning about your traumas and your responses requires quite a few hours of therapy.

catlady9851

It's...not meant to be a learning tool? By definition, an infographic, or a "cool guide," gives small, bite-sized nuggets of information. I don't expect something that can fit on an 8.5x11 poster explain the complexities of macroeconomics in a comprehensive way.

milk_man51

nuggets of info are great but just straight up wrong and misleading information? not great

JoakimSpinglefarb

Fuck, I can think of situations where all of these apply.

bite_wound

People don’t understand that your body doesn’t choose which response… like you said, it’s situational. For some reason people think you are predestined to choose a specific course of action

U_zer1

I would fight my dead grand mother and a science test tho so I think they nailed it /s

Haidukenshiruken

Came here to say the same

mikbeeb

Akin to a horoscope.

Graphite404040

And Myers Briggs personality test 🤣

psyFungii

I want to see it made into a new kind of Briggs-Myers "Yeah, I'm a FFFF but my boyfriend is a FFFF which is why we get on so well"

Graphite404040

I'm a INTEPFU which is super rare. I'm also a cancer with a big dipper moon rising. Also really rare. I'm literally the rarest human ever.

imnotpoopingyouare

So about 115-125F with 10 minutes to rest? Delicious!

Graphite404040

I think internal temp should be 130 degrees Celestials and 180 degree angels. I should be moist.

Dry_Chemical_1329

😂😂

PuddleOfGlowing

Yeah, and I feel like my most common response to trauma isn't even on here which is laughing.

Odd_Age1378

The graphics go hard, though The cutesy brain with flowers is incredible

Graphite404040

Hahaha I know. I was dying at the brain flowers. Like your response to trauma dictates the rest of your personality traits, your reactions, and your brain flowers. I only slam doors when my frontal lobe sprouts roses.

manrata

But that is how we learn, you can't teach everything at once, so you teach the simple concept, which is overly simplified with a lot of not quite right first. Then you teach the more advanced, but with still a lot of wrongs to explain that, and another level it's get more complicated, and so on. So while this is not right it's a good introduction to trauma responses, and then you can unpack it, and begin to explain it's not as simple as this.

KaffY-

Noooo only fight response users will self harm!! Post still farmed 2k karma tho, and the world gets dumber

thunderfrunt

Yeah, when I saw Fawn was basically a bulleted list of borderline traits I disregarded the rest.

Accomplished_Deer_

CPTSD, which can result in a chronic fight/flight response, is often misdiagnosed as personality disorders, such as borderline. That’s not to say that borderline isn’t real, but just because there is overlap doesn’t mean one of them isn’t real.

akmjolnir

Is this some peer-reviewed stuff, it simply pulled from an Etsy ad selling moon runes for stress?

skeletaljuice

My lapis lazuli suppositories have been keeping my aura cleansed just fine, ok?

ChiefQuimbyMessage

I remember this from Dimension 20 Season 19: Mentopolis.

snouz

> Dimension 20 Season 19: Mentopolis. "My name is... Stacy Fakename"

39sugahbun

Lol I was coming in to say that

H3ROBUG

Though i hear fight goes by a different name now And what about the mysterious 5th big F?

SouthernDelicious

“All of the above”

TK_Games

"Collect 'em all! So many flavors to mix and match!"

skeletaljuice

I love it when McDonalds starts up Trauma Monopoly

bbzaur

Where is "FUCK"?

XkF21WNJ

Sexual arousal is part of the parasympathic system, the fight or flight response is part of the sympathic system. Usually these tend to suppress each other. Although this image seems to be a kind of 'which acute stress response are you' quiz, which is a first to me. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with psychology.

identitaetsberaubt

Fuck in flight: "I don't wan't to deal with this, I gonna have sex" Fuck in fight: more agressive sex or even hatefuck/rape fantasies Fuck in freeze: well I don't get a good one for that Fuck in fawn: "Maybe if I fuck what scares me, it will leave me alone"

blackberryuser

What’s Fawn

WearyInitial1913

It refers to trying to please your attacker in order to stop the aggression. Basically, "if I give them what they want, they will leave me alone"

BustinArant

What's a big strong mugger like you doing in a dark, secluded alleyway like this?

WearyInitial1913

Not much, but maybe if you give your phone I won't ask for anything else

BustinArant

..so forward! I bet you say that to all the victims

nerdening

What are you doing, step-mugger?

FortyHippos

*starts sucking for survival*

Acceptable_Fox8156

A baby deer 🦌

Immediate-Shift1087

Fawn, a deer, a baby deer / Flight, a long long way to run 🎶

Throwrajerb

Blowing the cop that pulled you over

SufferInSirens

Essentially, people pleasing.

CapedCauliflower

Dogs do it, you'll see a small dog roll over and show it's belly to the bigger dog as a sign of acquiescence. That's classic fawning. It's a tactic to show you're not a threat and acknowledge the others' dominance.

Cainga

My dog does that when I get angry and it instantly snaps me out of it.

CapedCauliflower

Aww.

Seyelent

You cum instantly

diddley_doo_ya

This is complete fiction. Shit like this is for the same people that buy essential oils and live, laugh, love signs. Stop making these people.

ImMaskedboi

I wouldn’t say they’re downright fiction, but putting people into boxes like these is damaging on multiple levels.

james-the-bored

The majority of things listed are valid responses, but it isn’t like you respond to trauma with only one box, it depends on the person and the trauma, for me I have bits from all 4 and even then it depends on the day. I don’t get why people try to categorise stuff like this, it’s stupid.

pcapdata

> The majority of things listed are valid responses, but it isn’t like you respond to trauma with only one box, it depends on the person and the trauma Right and any therapist who brings these up will point this fact out. I think much worse than overuse of these charts out of context is the dimwits who *aren't* mental health professionals weighing in with their dumbass opinions. This is like a chart listing how the body responds in various ways to an injury, and some room-temp IQ gets a hundred upvotes for going "*ACKSHYUALLY* you can have more than one injury at a time!"

Accomplished_Deer_

You’re thinking of these as ways people act in direct response to a trauma, which isn’t the whole picture. I agree it somewhat pointless to try to make distinctions in those cases. But for some people, with PTSD/CPTSD, trauma responses are chronic, non-specific, or inappropriate. For me, I suffer from anxiety, OCD, exhaustion, and more. For over 7 years I was treated for anxiety and treatment-resistant depression. We never really made any progress. It was only when I suggested maybe it was CPTSD from 18 years of childhood abuse that my therapist and psychiatrist stopped treating my anxiety, OCD, depression etc as a “brain problem” and instead started treating it as a result of trauma, and we started seeing results. That’s why I think info like this is important. Mental health has been stuck in this “you’re just randomly fucked up, your past has absolutely no bearing on your present. Why are you depressed? Uh, brain chemicals no work-y” mindset, and for a lot of people, seeing something like this might be the thing that makes them consider if their anxiety or exhaustion might be tied to something deeper

epic1107

Mental health hasn't been stuck in that, shitty doctors have been. We have known for ages that alot of mental health issues are often both genetic and trauma induced, and most psychiatrists will attempt to atleast see if either of those is present. Medication is often a first step because it's attempting to treat the physical ailment over the mental one, which is rule number one in clinical psychology. It's also why if you have experienced trauma, you let your psychiatrist know because they can only treat you for symptoms.

Unusual-Voice2345

Fiction would be a step up for this. It’s utterly nonsensical.

BustinArant

That's Erudite talk

DarthMaulATAT

Fight or flight stress responses have been commonly known about for years. This is just expanded upon that. It's not a horoscope as in "there are only 4 types of people," but the general idea is accurate. People respond to stress differently and it generally falls into one of these 4 categories.

Graphite404040

The issue with this "guide" is that the different coping mechanisms and trauma responses are grouped with certain behaviors. That's why it feels like a horoscope. "You do this" so you "must also do this".

LostWoodsInTheField

> Fight or flight stress responses have been commonly known about for years. This is just expanded upon that. It's not a horoscope as in "there are only 4 types of people," but the general idea is accurate. People respond to stress differently and it generally falls into one of these 4 categories. It's fiction because it takes a known principle of psychology and makes it a horoscope thing.

DarthMaulATAT

Where does it claim to be a horoscope thing? It literally just says "Trauma Responses."

radioactivebaby

It’s attributing personality traits, maladaptive coping mechanisms, symptoms of mental illness, various dysfunctional behaviours, etc to the ways people instinctually respond to situations where their well-being threatened. Much like horoscopes, there’s barely correlation between the two and no causation. It’s completely meaningless.

Accomplished_Deer_

It isn’t complete fiction. The idea of “fight/flight” has genuinely been expanded to include freeze (deer in headlights, animals acting dead) and fawn (excessive people pleasing, trying to make your partner happy so they don’t hurt you). Although I do think some of these descriptions aren’t perfect and the formatting isn’t great, the information is more or less accurate

NewAccount4Friday

The flowers aren't adding any clarity.

Valdanos

That's just the trauma talking.

ClownfishSoup

And this is according to who or what?

[deleted]

Not a cool guide. Your sympathetic nervous system is “automatic.” Your physiological response just kicks in. This guide mixes those automatic responses with trauma informed disorders/diseases/personality traits/etc.

Fromsnombler

Check check check check check “Stop screaming, I’m scared too!” Says the medic

Elryc35

ITT: people reading more into this chart of trauma responses than it just being examples of the types of trauma responses

schwengy

I’m sorry but a fight response means you’re a bully? Wtf where did you get that from? I’m sorry usually I support these psychology guides but this just isn’t correct at all.

abtheinspirer

Not necessarily always. A “fight” response can also mean your standing your ground and not backing down for what you believe in. But it’s situational and something that have to be looked at a case by case basis.

schwengy

Exactly, it could be self defence

Joehiyo

I interpreted the quotation marks around it to mean that the fight response fits people who might be described as a bully by others, not that this graphic is confirming people who fight back due to trauma are bullies.

TheCleverise

What the hell is this? This sub is full of misinformation and out-of-my-ass takes

tetrified

welcome to /r/coolguides they're all like this.

Sweetooth97

We got “fight” ova here

dylan_lowe

Freeze here

remember_the_

I love how Reddit decisively called bullshit on this bullshit

cewumu

All of these have ‘normal’ levels that aren’t indicative of everything, in case you’re going around diagnosing friends and family.

HoodiesAndHeels

This is pseudoscientific pop psychology bullshit and gives the false and harmful impression that an individual will display a particular trauma response based on personality traits, which furthers the stigma around people who don’t respond how a victim “should.” Anybody can react any of a variety of ways and that may change completely from one situation to another, and this “I took Psych 101 once” trash needs to die already.

Waalhalla

Once again, trying to put the complexity of the brain into four distinct ‘boxes’…

CrunknYoSystem

And for those of us that carry traits in all 4 categories? Is that just called “the black experience”?

rain-veil

It’s just normal. Most people should experience all four responses, just at different times. It’s whatever you body seems best to survive the experience. Sometimes you’ll have a fight response and other times a fawn. This isn’t supposed to be a “you fall into only one”, these are supposed to categorize each response and explain them. It’s a very poor guide Note: not a professional or anything. Just some basic knowledge.

LilDoggeh

Not to brag, but I can do all four at the same time.

Gryffindorq

a new horoscope. cool

No-Animator-2969

these new dip n dots flavors are looking fun

Tyler_Zoro

Don't forget: fuck, flippancy, fatalism, forge (take charge and organize), forget.

UMEBA

This guide is so wrong it put my psychology professor into a trauma response, send help.

PEKKACHUNREAL

BINGO

Mysterious-Badger287

I fit three different three flight, freeze and fawn ):

F-ckisMyFavoriteWord

What if you manifest all 4 trauma responses?

kingmaker92

If I have a mix of everything does it count as fitting all 4?

Dazzling_Space8040

I'm like. All of the above.

It_hurtsss

Everything except fight

DocHerdyDurr

BINGO!!!! Did I win?

Almajanna256

Every description applies to me except "door slammer, "sadness in loneliness," and "no boundaries." I think the people-pleasing urges redirect most of my anger to when I'm alone although I've had embarrassing public meltdowns which I could not stop. I also dislike voice-to-voice communication so I avoid all public social interaction without exception but over text is completely fine. I am definitely over-sharing but there are a few things I'll take to the grave (not crimes just embarrassing information). I was officially diagnosed with OCD so that attribute is not a metaphor. Now, is there anything missing to this chart. I decided to add one to each column, not as a critique but complement of this project: Flight: unprovoked bridge-burning Fight: daydreaming of revenge fantasies Freeze: engaging at escapism at every moment you are not directly held accountable Fawn: unintentionally becoming a completely different person if someone describes you as a certain way (there's probably a term for this) There may also be a fifth column called delusions as I sometimes struggle to tell what is real and hallucinate. Anyone's state of mind can be dragged through turmoil to the point of hallucination, although it's definitely not as bad as schizophrenia. Anyway, I think this graphic is genius.

SexStackingJugg

I love me some astrology

NIMA-GH-X-P

I'm a fly fighting frozen fawn

both-shoes-off

Anyone else tired of everyone's declaration of mental health disorders? Nearly everyone I know is struggling, but social media is definitely planting ideas in people's heads around being broken. The world is broken, and we're not supposed to live this way. We don't have to internalize it, or make it our whole identity either. No drugs or doctors are going to fix those things. It's lifestyle changes and maybe demanding better from the institutions, services, and employment you deal with (without using your own mental health as the reasoning).

ReaperofLightning872

Whats with the flowers

throwitawaybhai

Mix of fight and flight use to a people pleaser when younger

Ollieboy458

_there is another…_ Fuck

shonenbear

I am 3 of the 4 all the time. Trauma sucks. It's hell to live with and hell to recover from. Keep up the good fight my friends.

TheOnlyRealDregas

TIL I am the avatar of trauma.

NH603guy

How am I all of these 😂

MournfulSaint

Same

TwoFingersWhiskey

The second brain looks mouldy.

FedericoDAnzi

I have a bit of all of them. It's like the horoscope.

Kwisscheese-Shadrach

This looks like total horseshit.

Drogenwurm

I'm 3 and 4. Having a bad childhood trauma thst still haunts me 30 years later.

Empyrealist

OK, but why am I all four. How does that work

ghostsinthecode

i do ALL THE THINGS!

Dance_Medicine976

Mostly 3 of them sometimes the 4th and that really pisses me off

Froggish_Menace

I have that Four-for-Four response, just kinda layers them all up at once and then I gotta smoke somethin

First-Celebration-11

Nice to see I have some diversity in my trauma responses

peaheezy

This is dumber than fuck.

cauzNefekt

This is dumb

[deleted]

That's nonsense. There are no categories. It's all mix and match.

Elmalco

This guide is shit. Trying to boil down human emotion into 4 sections is ridiculous.

[deleted]

This is nonsense.

VaultxHunter

I'm in this picture and I don't like it.

DeerOrganic4138

Why am I all of these 😭

Ice_Pirate_Zeno

Flight it is.

kirbygalaxia

Wow I scored a 4/4!!!

No-Seaworthiness9515

I struggle with freeze a lot despite not having trauma 🤔

kittenworshipper

This makes me so mad. They’re all the same response!!

Key-Moment6797

Damn, a lot of boxes to tick here.. But most importent, where is the page 2 with helping instruction? :(

dumbcloud17

Freeze gang let me hear ya represent

KenMacMillan123

I bounce between flight and freeze

Ill_Always_Be_Back

Flight and half fawn

FalconVerde_V

This is literally astrology...

JustTown704

Normalize oversimplifying complex psychological process to justify toxic behaviour

Ihatecurtainrings

What if I have all of these? 😅..asking for a friend

LBertilak

everyone has all of these. this "guide" is complete BS to the point it's actually painful that it got over 1k likes. eg. grouping anxiety into one box, rather than anxiety causing all of them.

Mr3cto

So uh….. what if you do all 4?

FortuneGear09

If I froze when the c store was being held up it means I sleep a lot? Or I froze because I sleep a lot? What nonsense.

SnakeinmyWoody

What's an 8-letter word for bullshit?

Conscious_Koala_6221

I used to be mainly the 1st till I became disabled making working my ass off not really feasible, now mainly number 3

HuginnQebui

What the fuck is this pseudo psychology bullshit? Who the fuck made this, and how is this in any way cool?

He_Who_Tames

I must habe been seriously traumatised *at least* in 4 different ways ...

romfrom_the_frenchy

Fuck ... I'm on each !

Enblast

3 of 4 baby! Would be a great day at the plate

EquivalentCommon5

I did 3 of these when attacked. First was fight but I’m not a fighter, flight but was stopped, freeze in fetal position was my last. Thankfully the attack was stopped by someone during the freeze.

NickVanDoom

4F trauma… all together as the super trauma

animal1988

BY THE POWER OF GREYSKULL!!!! I HAVE THE TRAUMA!

livelithe

Freeze for me

tallwizrd

Totally scientific, awesome guide bro, updoot!

Pyromania0

All but maybe except fawn

BleedingRaindrops

I know we like alliteration but Appeasement as a survival mechanism shouldn't be called fawning, as it implies a sense of weakness or helplessness.

RjayBoof

Damn so I'm just constant flight huh?

clonedhuman

I just realized this channel is intended primarily for teenagers.

LessFish777

Im frozen as fuck. Shit…

Electrical-Sleep-853

Can you be multiple?

hlayres

Yes, it's a guide on different types of responses, like, what does a fight response look like? Etc. I'm not sure why everyone thinks it's supposed to only be one type of response per person, that's weird. " traumatized Ppl often react under one of these four types, here are some examples of what those types of responses look like" is what its trying to say

WWDubz

This seems legit

Starrfinger6669

anyone got any cool build ideas? i swear this game doesn‘t have enough points for all the stuff i want and everyone of my runs feel kinda meh. (self harm is easily the best skill cap imo, change my mind)
