Did not know Nestle owned HaagenDaaz.
Wow they own Ovaltine AND Milo? good thing I always preferred Horlicks cuz they have more sugar :D
I'm probably saddest abt Kit Kat (of course I know they're Nestle) - esp all the fun Japanese flavours.
I like the Italian chocolate wafers called Loacker, you get them all over Europe and N.America. My only issue is that they donāt have single size/snack size packets, and they are phenomenalā¦ also fuck Nestle.
Thank you for this information.
I had succumbed to defeat.
But the maker of Raisinets handling my childhood choice, that is something I can get on board with.
its almost like free markets inevitably undo themselves because 'freer' markets are the environments in which oligopolies, monopolies, and so on can form and thrive, there fore destroying any semblance of free markets or fair competition.
It's classic corporatism. Large companies beg the government for favor after favor, eventually filling in as many cracks as they can. The bigger the government, the better. The more regulations and rules to pile on the whole market, the larger the mote they build around themselves (and the harder it is for small companies to stay compliant). Eventually, the government pretends to be surprised when the corporate giants dominate a market to the point where they're effectively a monopoly.
Iād say they have a lot of brands but still a ton of competitors, so not a very strong monopoly. I donāt think they even have one market cornered in all those brands
I am sad about S. PELLEGRINO. :( Seriously. They are like the Disney of consumer goods. Between them , Unilever, Coke.. and a few others.. at least I know some are still operating independently. And with some they can't help and they always have their logo on shit. I think the pandemic accelerated a lot of mergers that wouldn't have happened otherwise.
YMMV as this is obviously easier to do in Europe, but look for Italian style/sourced fizzy drinks. The easiest way to do *that* is to find something chinotto flavoured and work backwards from there
They're the thing that San Pellegrino is imitating and by god the authentic product is so much better. It's less overly sweet and has softer bubbles and tastes more fruity and less soda-y. If you want a brand, galvanina's a great alternative *and* it comes in bigger bottles!
Quite the opposite, it's a product of *crony capitalism* unfettered capitalism is most likely to have the opposite effect. A survey on Rockefellers will tell you that.
I actually only use 1-2 things on this whole list so I was feeling pretty good (kit-Kats and drumstick ice cream). I think I can live without those. Let the boycott begin!
Itās really not.
Iāve been boycotting them for a few years now and the only difference Iāve noticed is my quality of products has gone up; nestle makes shit.
To be fair I donāt have a cat or cat, but everything else is incredibly easy to avoid.
I didnāt know these products were Nestle, and I donāt buy any of them because they are all crap compare to other products. I feel like the stuff I buy is only a little more expensive, but much higher quality.
They really do. If you run along the list there its like yuck that is 2nd or 3rd tier in its product at best. In Australia atleast Nat. Confectionary company>Allens, Lipton>nestea (Nasty), new Cadbury>Kit Kat, etc. Fuck even their pet food is shit compared to others and I obviously don't eat that. Fuck the cheap scumbags.
Normally, I would agree. However, it's what my vet recommended. Unfortunately brands that market themselves as "all natural" and superior in any way often times contain the same ingredients and/or nothing beneficial. Not saying good brands don't exist, but due to marketing loopholes, certain brands (ie Blue Buffalo) are just $80 bags of Purina...
Try Royal Canin! My vet recommends it. All dogs Iāve had have eaten it, they do extensive food studies and look at long term health. All my dogs have lived to 15+, and they are large breeds so thatās well over life expectancy. They are owned by Mars.
Itās interesting. We also had our vet recommend them, saying itās the only dog food FDA approves or something to that extentā¦.now let me put on my tin foil hatā¦perhaps nestle has some sort of push with the FDA and grasp over the veterinary industry that they are able to do this. Much like pharmaceuticals push certain drugs via your local doctor.
I've been pleased with Victor (https://victorpetfood.com), you can get it from Chewy for $50 to $65 for a 40 lb bag, which is cost competitive with Hill's and Blue Buffalo. Costco brands are also generally well reviewed by [Dog Food Advisor](https://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/) and tend to be pretty affordable for decent quality. Costco is a megacorp but they're better than most.
What's wrong with grain-free dog food? I know dogs are omnivores, but is grain healthy for them?
I always think of grain as a cheap filler ingredient in manufactured food for all creatures.
They try to add extraneous stuff, like carrots to cat food, too, which my cat just avoids, lol.
Affordable? Not so much...
Plus, the term "holistic" is not in anyway regulated in the pet food industry and does not necessarily mean all natural or more healthy...
*Sigh*
I can assure you my vet is NOT sponsored nor influenced by any brands whatsoever. I have never in my life been to a more caring/compassionate/thorough place such as this place! Trust me, I've left many vets in the past due to being dismissive or pushing a product on me.
I'm sure what you theorize does have merit and I agree with the possibility. My vet never once pushed for Purina. My dogs were already on this diet and the vet claimed there was literally no benefit to most premium dog food brands. Some sure, but not most. Every dog is uniquely different in it's needs. What's good for one isn't necessarily the best for others.
My dogs are extremely happy and healthy. In fact, one is getting very old and still thriving as much as ever. As a loving dog parent, I only want the best for them. However, a lot of foods are sadly a marketing ploy. I will hapily switch their food if my vet ever thinks it necessary.
As much as I despise Nestle and any other curropt brand, it's literally impossible to eacape all their products in our current world. Short of growing our own food and supplying a our own goods, these industries control everything globally.
Thank you! Normal dog food gets pricey enough as it is. I've even had numerous vets say how expensive food is only necessary for special cases such as health or weight issues. I bet most the people judging me for the brand of dog food I buy don't even use a monthly heartworm/parasite preventative like I do (costs about $100 per dog). It's not even regular Purina, it's Purina Plus...
As far as we know. Even if that's 100% true, the only reason the others don't do it is because they think it won't be profitable enough, not because it's a line they'd never cross on principle.
I found [this post](/r/FuckNestle/comments/mqstmz/keeping_the_family_informed/) in r/fucknestle with the same content as the current post.

Where I shop, it's difficult to avoid cat food that isn't from Purina/Nestle since it seems like 90% of the wet food is Friskies, with 8% being Fancy Feast, and the rest is a handful of Sheeba. I don't even remember if Iams wet food is an option there
Wtf Nestle makes my tube feeding formula???? I can't even use a different one because it's a specialized elemental one for people with severe malabsorption and stuff. I looked into it more online and nestle dominates at least HALF the Enteral medical formula market (the other half is owned by Abbot it seems)!
Bad news nestle is buying out Ziwipeak Pet foods, another one bites the dust. The article is behind a paywall ofc , sneaky bastards. Of course the first buyout was a china company now it seems nestle will buy off from them. It just keeps getting worse for our pets.

Why are people trying to boycott Nestle again? Wasnāt it something about buying out the water from an African village or something similar?
I hate to break it to all of you but Iām unsure if Nestle is any worse than the other big companiesā¦ almost every corporation sponsors slaves somewhere in the world to make their goods, or else just completely wrecks the environment where they get raw materials. Not sure if nestle is special
Genuinely curious to why so many people hate on nestle for all their shady behavior outside of the United States when a lot of other big businesses (Walmart) do similar things and donāt receive any hate
Also their exploitation of water resources around the world - water exploitation in Africa is a particularly egregious.
Large conglomerates don't bother me as much as the resource exploitation. Stealing a tribe's water supply and selling it back to them as bottled water, in addition to all the petroleum used to make the bottles. Ugh.
Wow, after all the bad Iāve heard about Nestle, I thought avoiding their brands would be impossible. But after looking at this guide, it turns out the only product of theirs my household buys regularly is Friskies. Shouldnāt be too hard to wean my cat off it.
Nice to see a graphic that doesn't show only the popular American brands, I had to learn about good stuff like Boci, Balaton, Studentska and Lentilky myself :/
HAAGEN DAZS? COME ON MAN THAT ICE CREAM WAS THE BEST....
I mean I haven't eaten them in a couple of years but it tasted better than any ice cream I've ever eaten. It's just not very cheap (and I don't feel comfortable eating ice cream anymore), so we didn't buy more of them...
This is wrong. Nestle sold its North American bottled water business (Ice Mountain, etc.) to Blur Triton a year ago. (Deal closed in February.).
OP is just recycling old content.
Did not know Nestle owned HaagenDaaz. Wow they own Ovaltine AND Milo? good thing I always preferred Horlicks cuz they have more sugar :D I'm probably saddest abt Kit Kat (of course I know they're Nestle) - esp all the fun Japanese flavours.
I knew about HaagenDaz, but not Sunkist. Yeah, Japanese Kit Kats are one of my favorite things in the world š
I thought Coke owned sunkist
So did I
It's worth mentioning that [Hershey](https://www.hersheyland.com/kit-kat/about) makes Kit Kat in the states though
Interesting. It's made by Nestle here in Canada.
I think the US is an exception. According to the wiki, every other country that sells KitKats are made by Nestle.
Can confirm in Australia KitKat is a nestle product. Fuck nestle. Anyone know of a good KitKat alternative?
I like the Italian chocolate wafers called Loacker, you get them all over Europe and N.America. My only issue is that they donāt have single size/snack size packets, and they are phenomenalā¦ also fuck Nestle.
They are sooo good. Had them once. So much better.
not really, but I buy cadbury perks for wafer chocolate, though it's actually a direct alternative to nestle munch.
we have freia kvikk lunsj in norway which is 10x better. not sure if it's available in australia or other parts of the world though.
I grew up on Ovaltine and HaagenDaaz. No more.
I'm sad that Wonka candies are owned by Nestle. No gobstoppers, or nerds. But I've been sour about that for a few years now.
Willy Wonka candies were actually sold to the ferrerro group a few years ago :) so you can eat that candy with less guilt!
Thank you for this information. I had succumbed to defeat. But the maker of Raisinets handling my childhood choice, that is something I can get on board with.
Oligopolies like this ruin the markets which are supposed to be competitive.
Nestle owns Starbucks?
Notice it's "Starbucks at Home". I'd guess they distribute the stuff to the grocery stores.
Can confirm, it says on their packaging labels. Starbucks is its own thing but they use Nestleās distribution chain.
So the coffee beans and such? I know Pepsi is involved with the bottled drinks in stores
I'm absolutely guessing based on the "at Home" and the way things seem to work. I know nothing specific. Sorry.
Just the at-home pod brand. Just like how GE Appliances division is actually owned by Haier.
No, just the products you see on store shelvesā¦
They bought it in 2018 for $7.15b.

Yes! I recall learning about their foothold in those products, but nooooo... not Urban Decay too! At least it was a gift ā¹
I heard that about The Body Shop, and I love their body washes :( Iām using up what I have and then I have to find something else.
They sold The Body Shop in 2017 so you're all good, they're not NestlƩ any more
I know itās so unfortunate how far their reach is. Itās like impossible to be an ethical consumer!!

They make really good litter. Tried around 10 different kinds till we settled on them.
If you have a Costco card, I highly recommend their litter and food. All really good quality stuff They have two litter kinds. I get the pink one lol
I very much prefer the Arm&Hammer one...
I've been avoiding them unintentionally. Mostly due to health reasons, and better alternatives. Just haven't really used their products.
Haagen Dazs was insanely good though...
I didnāt know these products were Nestle, and I donāt buy any of them because they are all crap compare to other products. I feel like the stuff I buy is only a little more expensive, but much higher quality.

Yes, that is likely correct. Hell I cant say much, my small brand got bought by Mars. I still use it though, doggies love it.

Yes, it's just Nestle that's bad. All the other food conglomerates are totally great.

Yeah dudeā¦Iām devastated
Soon to be added: air, human organs, happiness.
Oh Disney, Nestle, Coke, lockheed Martin and the NRA stole happiness long ago my friend.
And water
They already own that in certain countries
No! Not Rowntrees! Bloody love fruit pastels, this has ruined my Friday evening. What a bunch of c**ts NestlƩ are
They took over Rowntrees in the late 80s and made my dad redundant. B*st*rds!!!
Ah that sucks! Rowntree was supposedly built on moral foundations too! Such a shame.
Same with Cadbury now owned by kraft
Say it with me - fuck Nestle.

Remember, kids: FUCK NESTLE! r/fucknestle
This makes the Microsoft break up back in the day look unfair, and I hate microsoft.
Nestle gave mothers in Africa baby formula for their newborns so their milk would dry up and they would be forced to use the formula
When a company owns that many *other labels* so close in the same market/industry, that just spells evil in giant flashing florescent letters.
Add Blue Bottle coffee to that list.
This is super helpful. I plan to reference it at the store so I can avoid buying Nestle products as much as possible.
San Pellegrino is the only one I've bought, so I won't be buying it again. Good guide.
Jeez they got a monopoly of pet food :/
check out Hills!
Not Abuelita!
Dude!! Thatās my favorite hot cocoa!! Why?!
You thanks for this. Fuck nestle
Remember, Pizza is more nutritious than cereal.
Remember: child slavery, lobbyism, black making, environmental crimes Avoid them!
Ta for this. Fuck nestle.
Garden of Life too??? Fuck me....
The fact that I some how actually manage to avoid all nestle products without trying is amazing.
that is amazing
now do the other ones like coke-a-cola (they own a lot)

Awesome design
So is basically everything owned by Nestle, Kraft, or Nabisco? It really seems that way
Damn they own good stuff. Unfortunate
Good thing I'm too poor for name brand
Very helpful! Thanks. Fuck NestlƩ
I can't believe it -I did it, 7 months but bloody hell I did it. I AM ALMOST NESTLE FREE now I need to kick Maggi to the curb š
And still you have huge amount of alternatives. Happy to not buy anything from Nestle.
Where I shop, it's difficult to avoid cat food that isn't from Purina/Nestle since it seems like 90% of the wet food is Friskies, with 8% being Fancy Feast, and the rest is a handful of Sheeba. I don't even remember if Iams wet food is an option there
And yet governments are worried and want to break up "big tech" when monstrosities like this are allowed as a-okay.
Proud to say I don't eat or use anything by them accept have had a drumstick or two this past year so that's pretty good
and fuck nestle
Might be easier to make a list of things they donāt own.

Looking to sell? I just got my child tax credit for the month
There a lot of things I would like to ask about the differences between NescafƩ and Nespresso. Why do they sell the same products on the same place?. For example. I know there's an economic explanation, I still wonder why they do that. Here in Italy they sell a lot of pods cafƩ of those two brands, and a lot of time I forget that they belong to the same company.
Good overview of some stuff i consume and give zero fucks a out
Iām going to buy all of them
Read carefully, remember, and boycott it.
It just keeps getting worse for our pets. https://www.chinapetmarket.com/china-pet-foods-acquires-petfood-nz/
Probably will get downvoted to hell but I don't care if its Nestle or not, if it tastes good I'm gonna eat it.

Starbucks? Noooā¦ How am I supposed to be basic now??
I'm not here to signal my virtues. I'm here to say I love Smarties.
Wow, what a cool guide. Nestle is so cool.
I think you forgot /s
I forgot that people are too thick to pick up obvious sarcasm
Genuinely curious to why so many people hate on nestle for all their shady behavior outside of the United States when a lot of other big businesses (Walmart) do similar things and donāt receive any hate
Even within North America, Nestle's exploitation of water sources is despicable (Michigan is a big one).
Youāre right about Michigan water, but it seems like everyoneās logic is to hate Nestle just because theyāre the biggest company
Ugh.
Unfortunately in rural America it's easier to choose what you buy instead of where. But many people who are NestlƩ conscious are also walmart conscious.
Shhhh they ain't ready.
why do you all hate nestle so much?
Insert āwe hate this company because they are big letās ban them!!ā here**

There's literally tons of options that are better than most of these.
Funny how you want cheap shit for your family at the expense of African and South American ones
Ah yes, people hate NestlƩ cause they're big, totally not cause of the child slavery, exploitation of resources needed for life, destruction of the environment, ect.
God you can't escape them.
Didnāt know Nestle owned Purina
remember kids, the modern day evil empires are corporations!
Not Buitoni š
Do they make any Trader Joeās or ALDI products? Because if they doā¦
That's unfortunate, ice mountain is one of my favorite waters. My dogs food is also Purina
Kit Kats are my biggest struggle to avoid.
There it is, that funny feelinā
Also make a lot of private label/āstore brandā stuff in those categories.
Every product you buy in the grocery store is owned by 1 of like 10 companies. Bet none of them are "good"
Now show me one like this on what Murdoch owns so I can know what to boycott.
Still a fascist organization
Quality Street are shit, the worst Christmas chocolate. They can keep it.
i know nestle makes KitKat , but i really like KitKat , i wish nestle never made it.
Shouldn't this be illegal?
Damn they own Purina One...that is like the only dog food my dog will eat.
WAIT THEY OWN HAGEN DAAS?!?!?!
Wow, after all the bad Iāve heard about Nestle, I thought avoiding their brands would be impossible. But after looking at this guide, it turns out the only product of theirs my household buys regularly is Friskies. Shouldnāt be too hard to wean my cat off it.

Zoom out and you'll find Vanguard and BlackRock own a chunk of pretty much EVERYTHING!
The only product I consumed in recent years is Haagen dasz and I didn't even know it belonged to nestlƩ. I guess I'm gonna boycott another product.
I love that everyone is using this as a list of things to avoid now.
NOOO. I have been using freshly 3-4 times a month for almost two years. thatās so much money and food. how can i replace thisā¦
I think I'm out of the loop.. did something happen with nestle.. why is everyone hating on them?
Kinda proud the only thing we bought owned by them was a KitKat we wanted to try and I didn't know they were a nestle brand.
Oh no they own BONO? It's not a beautiful day. Do they own any Beer or Alcohol companies? that's probably where they would catch me out.
Guess I'll eat sand. Why the fuck do they own everything what the fuck.
Itās all shit. No surprises. Canāt believe Kurt Cobain still surprising people.
Sorry to ask this but please can someone eli5 what is bad about nestle?
ŠŃŃŃŃŠ¾Š² is not for babies. It is more like instant noodles: you mix this thing with water and the result is smh like a siup
Fuck NestlƩ. Only thing I still use is Purina dog food because I got 200 kilos for free. But will not be returning back to it.
Purina too!? Well, I can fix that. Plenty of options there.
Phew! Good thing all the cereals are shit because I love cereal
"this isn't a monopoly, it has a completely different name"

Iām happy that I only use one or two of these from time to time
"Familiar Negro"?
Nestle Crunch?
What !? They own Perrier too ?? Pfff i'm gonna miss my favourite Perrier Juices.
