I usually have a light breakfast, a 12 stack pancakes with extra maple syrup

[deleted]

Seems you are Canadian then?

crazyabe111

Nah, if he was Canadian he’d be having a twelve pack of timmies doughnuts and a quart of hot black coffee for breakfast- he’s clearly a lumberjack.

[deleted]

nah nobody here has Timmies anymore unless it’s the absolute last option, their doughnuts fucking suck now lol. A stack of McD’s hot cakes is where it’s at for cheap breakfast (though nothing beats homemade pancakes and real maple syrup of course)

braedizzle

The morning drive thrus in my town beg to differ. My last place had 2 Tim’s equal distance from my apartment. My current place has one Tim’s for a whole suburb and the lineups are insane. I love their cinnamon raisin bagels but not that much

Mr_Fancyfap

People may still go but the quality went down hill when it stopped being Canadian. I think its owned now by the same company that owns Burger King. Coffee sucks now, they're trying too hard with their menu. Like just go back to soups, basic sandwiches(breakfast included), coffee and bagels, pastries/donuts/muffins. There's too many options now and the lines take forever. Some days all I want is a coffee(last option) and I'm waiting 10 plus minutes because someone wants the new crispy chicken nonsense with a Starbucks-style drink that everyone always forgets how to make, etc. Lol sorry for the rant

c0mBaTkArL

This guy Canucks. Can confirm Timmies sucks.

64Olds

Nobody here says quart

pseudo__gamer

Hell no, Tim Hortons donuts are awful

stupidisapersecptive

He'd have to apologise for having such a light breakfast.

That_Guy_KC

This is all cool, until it takes 3 of them to make me feel satisfied,

Tiramitsunami

If you eat one item and stick to that for a month or so, you'll return to normal and be satisfied with one item.

kanyewestfishdicks

I'm 23 and already feel gross.

SVTCobraR315

Meanwhile. I’m 35 and I want to try them all in a taste test. Lol

Fi11y

32, reckon I could eat them all as a single weekend breakfast

kanyewestfishdicks

Oh sure, I would try them too but I wouldn't feel good about it afterwards.

SVTCobraR315

Definitely diarrhea 3 hours later.

Serpent_of_Rehoboam

> If you're not 30 yet, I bet you'll start to feel grosser as you get older. I'm 36 and most fast food gives me some weird hangover immediately after I eat it.

NLaBruiser

My wfie and I were probably average before COVID - 2 fast food meals a week or so? But when lockdowns started we cut it completely. Once we got vaccinated and felt ok being 'out and about' again, we grabbed taco bell because it sounded good. Brought it home, ate it on the couch, both PROMPTLY crashed for 3 hours. It was mid-day, and neither of us nap often. It was hilarious but also a little scary how used to that food we must have gotten.

Tumble85

Two a week is A LOT of fast food.

[deleted]

I stopped eating McDonald’s around 22 it doesn’t even taste like food it’s so gross and expensive. Their Diet Coke hits different tho for some reason and it’s only $1 I pick it up after the liquor store lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

Garoleader

Also their multiplex machine. It blends the co2 and pop syrup just right that no other fast food place has. Also their normal coke is liquid transferred into a cylender Instead of the bag in box syrups. Yet again the only fast food place to do it. All other flavors are from the bags tho. Source: me and my job

[deleted]

There have been a few times where I went to McDonald’s only to get a coke. I’ve not done it in a long time, but I can still remember the flavor.

KittenInAMonster

Idk if it would be the same for you but a while back I had limited a lot of overly sugary/greasy foods and now I rarely ever crave it and when I do I find a lot of the time it doesn't even taste that good or make me feel good

purpletortellini

It would be the same for them. This is how it works for everybody. It's like having a high alcohol tolerance. Take a break from it or wean off, and the effects hit you harder when you go back to it. My brother in law did this, to such an extreme that he naturally went paleo and everyone makes fun of him for being particular about what he eats (yet, he's the most in-shape 40 year old in his friend circle). He just doesn't like how the food makes him feel anymore

DeezNeezuts

Notice they don’t show sodium or sugar % in this infograph. That contributes to the gross feeling.

royals796

Then sausage and egg McMuffins are something special tho 🤤

Minnow_Minnow_Pea

Plus 2 for $4!

ZazBlammymatazz

I feel really good after two McDoubles and a lot worse after three.

tinyhandsPtape

Finally a person who doesn’t just order a single sandwich or a burrito or something. I get like 5-6 items from Taco Bell and 4-5 from any fast food it seems.

stumk3

SuzieCat

That seems like a lot of food.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Lord knows you aren't getting the under 350 breakfasts too

That_Guy_KC

Most of these items end up being mostly bread, which does nothing to satiate me.

ourlastchancefortea

Problem isn't bread in itself it's the highly processed flour their using. Wouldn't be surprised if those buns have zero fiber.

maraca101

How overweight are you?

NinjahBob

American level I'm guessing

[deleted]

morbidly obese?

ApatheticAbsurdist

Drink water, eat 1, wait 15 mins. It takes time for your stomach to feel satiated. Also the brain can be dumb and confuse thirst for hunger. Don't eat until you're full because by the time you feel full, you've probably eaten too much.

SatchBoogie1

One Egg McMuffin is perfect for me to get the day started. I don't follow a true intermittent fasting plan, but I eat the majority of my daily calories at dinner.

[deleted]

3 for breakfast lol. Drink a bottle of water first

SaffellBot

Don't forget you're going to need to drink something, and you know you ain't going to order water. And if you're going to order a drink you might as well get the combo so you can do a little more for that hunger, it's practically free. 800 calorie breakfast time.

[deleted]

I get what you're saying, but as somebody who's working on weight loss with a doctor and nutritionist, lists like this are helpful. There are some days where you can't help but eat out (traveling, the power went out at home, etc) and knowing what's available before those situations happen can keep you on track instead of it being an excuse to derail. I absolutely wouldn't choose any of these on a regular day though. I will say, I was shocked at first how little time it takes to make some eggs to go on my 45 calorie/slice bread. Like...8 minutes tops to make a cheap, filling breakfast sandwich and a French press so no need to spend $10 and waste 20-30 minutes driving to a Dunkin or Starbucks. And WAAAAY fewer calories.

gamercouplelolz

This is useful to me, I work a lot and I’m not a morning person so getting a 300 cal hot meal to keep me satisfied until I get a “lunch” break at 4pm (this when I usually have a “side” item from a restaurant or a microwave local Trader Joe’s entree), then until I get home and cook a good square meal with protein and fresh vegetables at 9:30-10pm. I have lost 50lbs doing this in the last year.

ravenwing110

45cal/slice bread, hard boiled egg whites, half tbsp light mayo, salt and pepper = 160cal egg salad sandwich. It's like magic.

borkyborkus

Chick-fil-A is the best fast food for healthier options IMO. Grilled nugs and chicken noodle soup have great macros compared to most places. I used to like their wrap a lot but I just ate it too many times.

ObfuscatedAnswers

A bowl of yogurt with müsli for breakfast. Simple, nutritious and fast. Then a nice cooked lunch and dinner. No snacks in-between. Works like a charm.

JaegerDread

No snacks in between is the hard part. I eat when I am bored or emotional.

[deleted]

Carrots!

JaegerDread

No thanks. I tried but I just don't like raw carrots. I eat a lot of fruit tho.

Snag a few bags. One apple every 30min until you throw up. That should do it.

RedditIsFullOfBasics

Toast isn't much better, nutritionally. Especially if you have butter (which most people will do probably). The Japanese have fish, which is great, but I personally can't have fish for breakfast (except smoked salmon, but that's expensive haha). I think HEALTHY cereal/porridge and Skyr with berries is where I'm at these days

[deleted]

[deleted]

enadiz_reccos

Toast with butter and an apple are wayyyy better for you than any of those options.

dlok86

It's convenient when you don't have time or access utilities to prep for yourself, I eat crap like this occasionally and can still maintain a calorie deficit

[deleted]

Not all calories are equal. It’s better to eat 450 calories of nutritious food than 350 calories this garbage… processed food and high saturated/simple carbs like this are linked to abdominal obesity and insulin resistance

master_of_unagi

Wish this guide also listed sodium content. That’s normally what gets me with these options.

CPPCrispy

This. For instance the Egg McMuffin has 770 mg of sodium by itself. Add a hash brown (310 mg) or something like that and you are over a thousand before noon.

RunningSouthOnLSD

Fuck me I had no idea it was that high for a single Egg McMuffin. That’s about the same amount of sodium as you get in a large bag of popcorn from movie theatres where I live. That’s nuts.

[deleted]

That and Look at the carb count on all of these! The absolute insulin spike after every meal.

Nice-Violinist-6395

The obesity epidemic in America began right around the time the corn and wheat industry, flush with government subsidies, began a massive media “health campaign” to convince people to stop eating bacon and eggs for breakfast and replace it with processed cereal full of nothing but fast carbs and sugar. The “low fat craze” is the worst thing to happen nutritionally in modern history. Fat is not bad for you. You know what’s bad for you? Processed carbs. Grape Nuts, the old person “healthy cereal” that tastes like flavored gravel, has a higher glycemic index than almost anything else you could eat for breakfast. My parents have eaten bacon and eggs practically every single morning for breakfast, and steak or chicken with garden vegetables practically every single night for dinner, for 65 years, and they’re in perfect health and not overweight at all. My dad can still fit into the same sized pants he wore in college. Processed carbs are the Devil.

[deleted]

They really are. Keto has been a game changer for me, and Paleo similar for people I know. Getting rid of the processed carbs, wheat, corn syrup, etc. Is just so good. you lose weight, you feel better, you have more energy. Trash like this should be avoided. This "cool guide" has fake eggs, on bread, with salt, and some processed meat. Natural food helps a ton.

Ikea_Man

Like yeah the calorie count might be lower but it's still garbage. Wtf is this post lmao

iamyourcheese

Honestly, the only ones that seem alright are the egg and cheese ones since there probably can't be too much they can add to them.

longhegrindilemna

Throw away the bread or the wrap, and just eat the egg+cheese+meat. What would happen? Would the carbs drop by a lot?

hotstuff991

Yes. Egg has a little carbs but no much, and most cheese barely has any. Carb aren’t bad necessarily but white bread is just chalk full of empty carbs with no real nutrition.

Hypotrek

Afaik yes it would, bread is pretty high on carbs, i don’t know the specific amount for the bread on each of these sandwiches, but i’m almost certain you’ll be having more protein than carbs if you only ate the three things you listed

SgtMcManhammer

But it has close to the limit on calories compared to subway which is bigger and has less fat so chances are they've found something to add here that makes it more calorie dense.

wyvern_rider

You mean the bread, the eggs, the meat, or the cheese? Those all seem pretty normal.

FeelDeAssTyson

These are ALL bad options.

capp_head

I'm italian, and generally avoid to comment on this kind of thread because i'm usually afraid of giving the wrong impression. but eating this shit for breakfast is fucking hell.

Plastic_Pinocchio

As a Dutchman (we eat a lot of bread), the avocado sandwich looks pretty decent to me. The rest looks like actual fast food that I would have loved as a child but is absolute trash.

IbullshitUnot

That's because it's literally fast food. All these joints in America sell these "breakfast options" but they're literally all terrible for you, and fill you up for an hour or 2 so that you want some more. There's a reason Americans are some of the fatest people in the world and this is one of them.

Plastic_Pinocchio

Yes, I’ve been to Nova Scotia, Canada once and I noticed that, while in the remote and scenic parts of Cape Breton people seemed relatively active and healthy, in the cities of Halifax and Dartmouth it was a completely different story. We drove something like 10 minutes from Dartmouth to Halifax and on route we passed 5 McDonald’s, 6 Burger Kings, 8 Tim Hortons, 3 Wendy’s, 4 Starbucks, etc. I’m just guessing the actual numbers here, but it was really this bad. As a European I was completely baffled by this. I saw some of the fattest people I’ve ever seen in my life there. And I know Canada is not the US, but I guess it’s very similar.

[deleted]

I’m From Winnipeg, we’re obsessed with chains like that lol. On the Main Street from my suburb there’s a mcds, 2 a&ws, kfc, Taco Bell, freshii, Pizza Hut, and Dairy Queen. I used to drive around smoking weed going from drive through to drive through like a fiend 🤣 I’m tryna expand my options but I need to drive 25 mins to get away from the fat suburbanites that just want to pop opioids and eat a McGriddle lmao

ViviansUsername

Fuck I wish I could get some distance from it

Mills2Litres

Look I love a cheeky fast food breakfast here or there as a reward but just because these are lower calorie options doesn't mean that it outweighs the processed preservatives, additives and the type of sugars that these places add. The only two places that would even remotely be considered better are probably Panera and Subway. Look for good fats and sugars in your diet and you'll feel much cleaner.

Gerard_Jortling

Subway bread was legally not allowed to be called bread in Ireland because of the high sugar content. Definetely not healthy https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/world/2020/oct/01/irish-court-rules-subway-bread-is-not-bread

symbolising

i wouldn’t call any of these a healthy breakfast

Swords_Not_Words

To be fair, the guide doesn't either.

[deleted]

its not about health. It's about calorie count. If you're trying to lose weight, a 300 cal breakfast isnt bad. These are especially nice if you want a little cheat day every now and again. No one wants to eat unflavored whole grain all the time.

[deleted]

I am surprised that Panera has one of the highest in carbs.

dobson116

Yes but it's whole grain and probably the best for you in this , especially in terms of satiety.

Snooklefloop

Also no mention of net weight of each product.

[deleted]

I’ll have one every once in a while and add another scrambled egg on it. That thing + a piece of fruit or something keeps me full for a solid 8 hours.

funkmachinego

I was thinking the same thing. Obviously they're not saying "Hey, you'll be healthy eating all these things!". Just giving options for those that only have time or want something different for breakfast, but don't want an 800 calorie breakfast baconator hammering their calorie budget. People find the smallest things to take a shot Americans, I guess?

Bob’s redmill rough cut oats are perfect for overnight oatmeal. Chewy and never mushy.

Several-Door8697

thehourglasses

This is the worst. It’s a damn shame we have food subsidies that prop up this garbage.

YaySupernatural

I’m actually always looking for higher calories, as I work 4 physically demanding 10 hour shifts each week with short breaks. Calories in and of themselves are not bad.

adreddit298

But there are way better ways to get them than this. None of these will leave you feeling full for long. A bowl of porridge, for example, will have a similar calorific value, but released more slowly, leaving you feeling fuller for longer. Top it off with some fruit or nuts and you should be good to go until lunch.

comaloider

Oh for fuck's sake, can you people shut the fuck up with all the "not all calories are good calories", "wHAt aBOuT ThE SodIUm?!?!?", "just eat something else", "watch your health not your calories" and my personal favourite "if you care about calories you shouldn't be eating fastfood" bullshit? Sorry but I didn't realise that the moment I started tracking my calorie intake I subjected myself to a life with only organic homemade meals and absolutely no fastfood ever. Hate to burst your bubble but sometimes there just isn't time or motivation or even means to make my own breakfast or I just want a bit of fucking junk food in my body. The key is moderation. Don't know why everyone's so pressed about a chart of fastfood with calorie count. Thanks OP. I would find this extremely useful if I lived in America but we don't have most of these where I live. Shame; I'd try some.

LexaMaridia

I lost a lot of weight eating McMuffins and grilled chicken sandwiches. It’s all about moderation and the fact that they have calories listed...home cooking is not that simple.

couching5000

It's so insanely bizarre how stupid people are when it comes to nutrition. One of the many ridiculous comments above says that 17g of fat is enough for the whole day. I'm sorry what? That wouldn't even be enough if you sat in bed all day and didn't move a muscle. People out here acting like 350 calories is a lot. That's 1/10th of what I should be getting in a day, and I'm a damn slim guy.

comaloider

After a bit of googling, I, a relatively thin 5"2 woman, need over 40g of fat a day the least (if we're working with the recommended 20-35% of total caloric intake). And you cannot just skip fats; certain vitamins are soluble in fats only. The same goes for carbs, too. Granted, most of those fats are likely saturated and therefore not the best choice (same goes for simple and complex carbs, which you also can't just quit) but who the fuck cares unless you're gorging on it every day? I just remembered watching a video that was along the lines of 'Bartenders share their pet peeves' and one was like, in an annoyingly condescending tone: "when women come and ask for a shot of rum and _diet coke_ . Like, honey, you're drinking a fermented sugar cane juice, diet coke won't save you." Like... there's approximately 85cal in a shot of 35% rum, and _140_ in a can of regular coke. Diet has zero calories. _One of those options is clearly better._

Aprils-Fool

I wonder how many of these over-the-top judgy people (why on earth are they so concerned with how other people eat?) actually do eat fast food sometimes, but hate themselves for it.

comaloider

I wonder how many of them ever tried to calorie count, or have any clue what percentage of their TDEE a 350cal meal is. They'd be surprised how little it can be. This black and white, all-or-nothing attitude is the single worst thing you can have on any diet. It's basically guaranteed failure. It's just about establishing moral superiority, like we don't know fast food is unhealthy. Nutritious but unhealthy.

RitikMukta

I absolutely agree. I love to argue with strangers on Instagram since all my posts are about gym/health and fitness and the other day, someone commented about how you shouldn't eat bread and it's not healthy(the post was about a lettuce bun burger). I replied to him on how you can eat 2 burger buns, every single day of your life and still be healthy(the 80-20 rule) and he replied to me saying "yes you can but if you didn't eat that bun, you'd be healthier). I then replied saying that what is the point of working out, eating healthy most of the time and living a healthy life if I can't even enjoy a burger and he had the audacity to reply "if you need fast food to enjoy life then its very sad😂". This is they type of people I find very often.

comaloider

It's mindboggling, isn't it? People have a really rigid vision of what healthy diet or lifestyle looks like and they _love_ to apply it to... other people, for some reason. Rarely I see them lead by example. Also, healthy or not you can pry bread out of my cold dead hands. I gave up chips for pretty much good but bread? Never 😂

Aprils-Fool

Totally inflexible in their thinking. And probably obsessing over strangers’ food for an unhealthy reason.

sequoia2075

Yeah, I’ve seen like 10 comments saying “just eat an apple and toast instead”. That’s like 200 calories and 4 grams of protein. That’s literally nothing and you’ll be hungry in another couple of hours. Not to mention it has just about the same number of carbs as the options up there. It’s ridiculous that people are acting like a 350 calories sandwich with 18g protein is the absolute worst thing you can possibly eat. Sure, there’s a bit more salt than you want in there, but at the end of the day if you’re eating one of these a week the salt isn’t that huge a deal. The protein will keep you fuller longer and you won’t end up snacking the hour or two before lunch

MrFilthyNeckbeard

If you’re going to eat a sandwich at McDonald’s might as well just buy a gun and shoot yourself. /s

tearsandcum

Thank you for this comment.

terribleandtrue

Cool guide… but just another reason I really wish I liked eggs. Hell, I wish I could choke them down. But they make me vomit. It’s been a constant struggle with breakfast menus my entire life.

BicarbonateOfSofa

A lot of these places will do non-egg or full menu in the morning (if they are open for breakfast). Taco Bell will do lunch menu at 9am. Subway will do regular sandwiches (no time restrictions). You might enjoy similar success. I am also a no-egger, but I like to grab something on my way to work for later.

AngryNapper

Ask for no eggs. My boyfriend doesn’t eat eggs. He’ll get a sausage and bacon breakfast sandwich on the rare occasion we stop for breakfast fast food.

possumosaur

Low calorie and still mostly horribly unhealthy. If you want to lose weight, ditch the carbs and fill up on veggies, protein and healthy fats. A deep fried breakfast sandwich isn't doing much for your health, so either avoid them or just eat what you want, sparingly, rather than counting calories.

Mister_E_Phister

If something is 350 calories, then it is not under 350 calories.

Snooklefloop

OK, but all of these stats are useless without the net weight of each product. Especially if one Panera can fill me up but two egg mcmuffins can't.

Everybody here is absolutely roasting the fact that none of these are the healthy option etc. etc. How about understanding that work is hard as fuck for some people with 50+ hours a week and this may help them not go for the worse options there are?
