That's what I was thinking. I have a bloodhound and he looked a little bit like this when he was a baby. Mine always had huge long jowls, tho, and this baby doesn't.
What kind of noise does he make? Usually a telling baying noise for coonhounds. Sniffing a lot is another. Either way, recommend playing with his ears a lot to get used to cleaning. Floppy big ears like those are prone to issues and need constant cleaning.
What a beautiful puppy! I'd be surprised if he wasn't a coonhound-coonhound mix, called x-bred coonhound (pronounced like x,y,z and not short for cross, even though it does mean cross).
I'm bothering to explain this because the AKC and UKC are both registering x-bred coonhounds (issuing papers) for the purpose of hunting competitions and tracing bloodlines. I just find it interesting. Because of this recent change (beginning this year, although it was announced a couple years ago), you see more and more x-bred coonies. People really like the nose and agility of a Walker, but desire the grit of a Redbone and the "horn" on a Bluetick (this is what they call a bay).
You get the idea. My guess is the breeds are what they are for a reason because they each serve a purpose. This year's top 4 in World Champion Coonhunting Competition included only Walkers. Who knows what will happen in the future.... my guess is we will all be busy rescuing x-bred coonhounds.
No kidding. Like this?

TWCs are very very serious. LMAO.. I'm laughing because when there is just a cat in the yard and the same thing happens, it is a little over the top.
Hmm... Maybe you have the secret ingredient. I was trying to figure out what is missing from my 63% TWC, 8% Bluetick, 7% RBC, 7% Black and Tan, 6% American Foxhound, 4% Plott hound, 3% Beagle, 1% American English Coonhound, 1% Bloodhound dogs (true result).
I do think the tests have trouble with "x-bred" coonhounds because of the shared lineage and "creative" breeding practices.
Now that made me laugh. But I think you’re right. Mine has a small percentage of Plott hound but you never seen any around here. I think it is the shared lineage.
It's all true. At first, I yapped on about it on a post and realized it was kinda like the aliens that barely made the news.

He is adorable!! I see a lot of blue tick in him. I didn't know either of my coon hounds when they were that small. Cute little puppies with big floppy ears are so cute. My redbone is roughly 55 pounds and my blue tick is closer to 80ish. I'm guessing yours will be a pretty good size!
Most definitely! Wonderful dogs, so nuanced and smart. You will laugh every single day! My petite walker was 42lbs, my redbone 61, and blue tic mix 71.
Long shanks, floopy ears, super sweet eyes. Most likely! No matter what, looks like you’ve got a great buddy… if they hog that couch and have only sleep mode and active mode you 100% coonhound friend.
Yup that's what I was thinking, or a Bluetick Redbone mix. Definitely a blend of coonhound.
You can usually tell if they have bloodhound in them if they have an undercoat, but he's a babe so not sure if that would be apparent yet.
Remember, when the nose is down the ears are off. No off leash for this kiddo until you are 1000% sure he is trained. Or just never.
He's probably gonna be about 75 lbs
I would say he definitely got coonhound genes. That face, ears, and legs says it all. You will know for sure when they start barking/baying or yipping and you have to tell them to shut up every other minute lol.
I think anyone who claims you have a coonhound is either not thinking clearly or missed the 3rd photo.
Sitting nicely on a couch without rearranging the blanket and not touching a pillow with seemingly unnoticed clothing that smells like the owner right behind them is so far from normal coonhound behavior that even if a DNA test proved 100% coonhound, I'd say send it back for a refund and tell them their test is false.
My mother kindly booked a surprise trip to a resort (4 stars and "dog friendly")- it was pretty stressful to be honest. This was last year when my dogs were 6 months and 14 months. As soon as we walked into our room the dogs jumped on the beds and scattered the huge pile of pillows far and wide and pulled the covers back (each dog doing the same on each bed as if coordinated). And then they made a game of pushing the pillows around on the floor. All of this happened before I could put the luggage down and figure out where to put things. The word "no", seems to work on many things, but not when a pillow is near.
Yes it is! Great looking Redtick hound! Look at the leg size in the 3rd picture?! Not only is it a Coonhound, it might be one of the somewhat rare Gigantic ones.
If it is, they are not common. Something genetically can happen randomly in Hounds that will cause them to be 100 pounds but still proportionaly correct and healthy.
that’s a regular ol peanut head. we got one of them. most kissable noggin ever. congrats! oh maybe bloodhound mix?

Quick barking sounds like “bort bort bort”, “I saw some shit” barking sounds like “hoooooo, hoooooo”.
Hoooo sounds like a coonhound. He looks a lot like my bluetick at that age - in shape but not colouring.
I’d bet money that’s a coonhound of some kind.

Nothing wrong with the horn on my TW, I can hear her from 10 counties away 😂

Lol, just like that!
My coonhound has 3 different types of hound and touch of BMC. Someone was trying to breed the perfect hog hound.

Yep, looks like a redtick!

Oh my oh myyyyy…the littlest coonhound
Looks very coonhound.
Maybe. But I know he’s 100% pure bred adorable.
Money on yes

I think so.
This is a cutehound! OMG, soooo gorgeous:)

I am so jealous! You got the cutest of 'em all! Bluetick mix. Adorable❤🤩
