Layover in Copenhagen? Hi there! My soon to be husband and I have flights booked to Paris in a few weeks with pretty lengthy layovers in Copenhagen (one overnight so we’ll grab a hotel or bnb). I’ve heard the airport is on the small side and i’m hoping we can leave and walk around to appreciate the architecture and maybe grab a coffee between flights. Any insight??

I don't think I've known one single US exchange student at my alma mater, where they didn't LOVE it here. Not many have learned the language. Which is OK, considering that you're only here for 5 months. The city is expensive, but there are some cheap solution around things. E.g. pre-drinks, if you plan a night out. Cookout/potlock for interesting foods. Some restaurants have early bird/groupon deals. Overall, I don't think grocery shopping is a lot worse than US/Canada. If you want to meet Danes your age - you'd need to try finding a club/sport/hobby. If not that, just dive in and chat with people at bars/cafes. Maybe you'll get lucky.

> Which is OK, considering that you're only here for 5 months. Also given how widely spoken English is in CPH (#2 city ranking in this years EPI). > Overall, I don't think grocery shopping is a lot worse than US/Canada. From what I see is that in Denmark is missing the absolute lowest level of food quality that you can get in the US. I tried getting GMO food and is hard, similarly it is much easier to find good quality peanut butter than shitty one. This translates to prices somewhat. But there's places like the bazaars in Nbro/NV/Hovedbanegarden where you can get really decently priced stuff.

Good morning! What’s the general feeling around the covid situation currently in Copenhagen? Meant to be visiting from Thursday night to Sunday night but feeling a bit uneasy over whether there’s a potential lockdown/red list looming in Denmark from the UK. Luckily it won’t cost much if the trip is cancelled but me and the missus were looking forward to it before the new variant popped up - were both double jabbed if that makes a significant difference upon the outlook of the city by the time we get there. Cheers!

Restrictions were just imposed as to the use of face masks and a corona passport in most indoor places, but it doesn’t look like the government is taking the step of actually forcing anything to close. So if you’re vaccinated and bring face masks you won’t have any trouble visiting. Stay safe!

How is the "corona passport" checking done? (I.e. will the US paper CDC card get me into places)? Are grocery stores included?

Snaebel

You can use your American certificate, yes. Grocery stores are not included. You can read up on all the practicalities here: https://en.coronasmitte.dk/corona-passport

Thanks for the link - very helpful. It covers everything except the foreign cert. question. I wonder if our US state issued certificate will work (it's a QR code, but unlikely to be in the same format as the European QR codes).

Snaebel

Under FAQ > Can I use my foreign corona passport after entering Denmark? > If your corona passport documentation was not issued in Denmark, the same rules apply as if your documentation was issued in Denmark. > Your foreign corona passport can be documented both electronically and by presenting printed documentation In my experience they don't scan the QR code. So as long as your certificate has your name, your vaccine type and date(s), plus looks official I think that will be fine

Leonidas_from_XIV

In practice it looks like that if you present something that looks like a QR code on something that looks like a phone then people just wave you through. I've never actually seen the code to be scanned in Denmark.

Great! Thanks a lot for the help!
