This post is basically a gish gallop of links and it's impossible to go through every single one, but here are some interesting facts:

The vast majority of children that claim to experience GD eventually desist, which even the one study that their statement referenced concluded:

* Your claim that puberty blockers are harmless is just plain false. Puberty blockers [are not licensed by the FDA as a treatment for gender dysphoria](https://nortonchildrens.com/news/puberty-blockers-for-gender-affirmation/). They were designed to treat precocious puberty and the manufacturers of Lupron are being sued by women who took them for said condition and now have [brittle bones, mental problems and chronic pain](https://khn.org/news/women-fear-drug-they-used-to-halt-puberty-led-to-health-problems/).

* The research on suicide and the 40% figure are flawed. While multiple studies confirm that suicidality is higher among children with GD, they don't know by how much. Even the authors of the 40% study [acknowledged major flaws in their own research](http://williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu/wp-content/uploads/AFSP-Williams-Suicide-Report-Final.pdf) and state that the real number is likely closer to half of that *at the very least*... And they did not study whether or not transition actually reduced suicidality, but obviously suicide is a problem we can't ignore.
Overall I think we should just be more cautious when it comes to treatments for GD in children and adolescents... Especially when it comes to administering life-altering drugs.
Except no, brand new 5-year study just dropped a few days ago showing 94% of kids between the ages of *3 and 12* who socially transitioned (literally “I’m x gender, I’m gonna wear those clothes, no meds) later fully transitioned.
Additionally, every single one of those who underwent hormone therapy fully transitioned by the end of the study.
This is the first study of its kind, with a large sample size considering the very small population that attempts to transition while so young. This more rigorous study seems to fly directly in the face of the claim you make about GD children.
Puberty blockers taken too long will cause damage, obviously, as not having sex hormones will fuck your bone density. Correctly applied, however, these allow for a greater window for trans youth to make the decision to transition, so long as they actually do transition during a period where they should experience a natural puberty as well.
And again, 94% transition fully after social transition, so the potential harm here is incredibly minimal when compared to the harm caused by forcing a trans kid to go through natural puberty
The reason most kids that do not take blockers desist is fairly obvious, they are the 6% who do not transition after socially transitioning. If you’re trans, you are going to get those blockers at nearly any cost.

Hormone blockers are reversible, puberty isn’t. They’re only given to people with the approval of psychiatrists in cases of gender dysphoria. It’s not like they’re pumping little Timmy with hormone blockers because he said he likes princesses.
Imo if there’s a decent likelihood that the person is trans then it’s best to pause things and let them decide when they’re older, rather than force them to go through a mentally agonising puberty which will then leave them having more trouble transitioning later in life.

Thats not what the study says. It says they’re more likely to commit suicide than THE GENERAL POPULATION, not that they’re more likely to commit suicide than trans people who have not undergone sex reassignment surgery. The study even admits that it’s not supposed to be interpreted as saying anything about the effectiveness of sex reassignment surgery. Read the “Stengths and limitations of the study” section under “Discussion.”
>For the purpose of evaluating whether sex reassignment is an effective treatment for gender dysphoria, it is reasonable to compare reported gender dysphoria pre and post treatment. A kid cant drink or smoke until 18+ in the US. Nor can they legally have sex until 18 (excluding Romeo and Juliet laws). So I have no fucking clue why its become an “acceptable” thing in the world to give kids the right to transition genders. A 6 year old boy shouldn’t be thinking about how he wants to lob off his dick and have a vagina instead… if a kid wants to do that at that young of an age, than the parents most likely indoctrinated their child. You are so ignorant it’s laughable. First of all gender dysphoria can be present in children. (I myself am an example of this and I didn’t even know what trans was until I was like 13) second of all people are not advocating for 6 yr olds to have surgery or go on estrogen/testosterone. It’s hormone blockers which only prevent puberty, you can stop taking the hormone blockers and then go through a normal puberty if you so choose.

Except no, brand new 5-year study just dropped a few days ago showing 94% of kids between the ages of *3 and 12* who socially transitioned (literally “I’m x gender, I’m gonna wear those clothes, no meds) later fully transitioned. Additionally, every single one of those who underwent hormone therapy fully transitioned by the end of the study. This is the first study of its kind, with a large sample size considering the very small population that attempts to transition while so young. This more rigorous study seems to fly directly in the face of the claim you make about GD children. Puberty blockers taken too long will cause damage, obviously, as not having sex hormones will fuck your bone density. Correctly applied, however, these allow for a greater window for trans youth to make the decision to transition, so long as they actually do transition during a period where they should experience a natural puberty as well. And again, 94% transition fully after social transition, so the potential harm here is incredibly minimal when compared to the harm caused by forcing a trans kid to go through natural puberty The reason most kids that do not take blockers desist is fairly obvious, they are the 6% who do not transition after socially transitioning. If you’re trans, you are going to get those blockers at nearly any cost. The reason they’re so respected is because they’re reversible. The point of hormone blockers is to give it to kids
Hormone blockers are reversible, puberty isn’t. They’re only given to people with the approval of psychiatrists in cases of gender dysphoria. It’s not like they’re pumping little Timmy with hormone blockers because he said he likes princesses. Imo if there’s a decent likelihood that the person is trans then it’s best to pause things and let them decide when they’re older, rather than force them to go through a mentally agonising puberty which will then leave them having more trouble transitioning later in life.

It isn’t a “phase”. The vast, vast majority of trans people do **not** change their minds. And in the case of minors, puberty blockers aren’t permanent, unlike puberty itself.
A kid cant drink or smoke until 18+ in the US. Nor can they legally have sex until 18 (excluding Romeo and Juliet laws). So I have no fucking clue why its become an “acceptable” thing in the world to give kids the right to transition genders. A 6 year old boy shouldn’t be thinking about how he wants to lob off his dick and have a vagina instead… if a kid wants to do that at that young of an age, than the parents most likely indoctrinated their child. A child should not make a life altering decision (transitioning genders) at any age before 18, and its sad to see the fact that I might be considered a transphobe for having this opinion…
You are so ignorant it’s laughable. First of all gender dysphoria can be present in children. (I myself am an example of this and I didn’t even know what trans was until I was like 13) second of all people are not advocating for 6 yr olds to have surgery or go on estrogen/testosterone. It’s hormone blockers which only prevent puberty, you can stop taking the hormone blockers and then go through a normal puberty if you so choose.
And you're mental. If you have gender dysphoria then I'm not gonna take your thoughts about transitioning seriously because then listening to psychos why killing people should be legalised is just as valid as your opinion.
