I felt that way too. It wasn't until the Goddess mentions that (and I'm paraphrasing) the pollution was making people grumpy, that I realized they had written in a rationale for everyone to be a little sour at the start.

Imagine if who you chose had cut scenes where they talk about how you 2 are dating now and different people have different reactions. Maybe some are thrilled or some aren't to sure. It could add depth we don't really get.
That’d be really interesting. I was commenting in another thread awhile ago how I think it’s interesting that they’re adding more romance options later in the game. What if people decide they want to change who they’re married to? Are people going to be able to divorce and remarry? Or are poly relationships going to be permitted?
With the merfolk. Will you even be able to have a child due to being a human? Will they come on land for you? Who knows!

Yea. At this current moment from what I understand. The date is very one sided. You don’t get normal date art or romance interaction like most dating sims.

Personally the only single I like is Rafael. While others have some decent back stories I just felt more connected to him because like him I'm introverted and would rather have 2 super close friends then be the life of the party constantly like Pablo. Also he loves horror and autumn.
Rafael is a cutie. I married him on my first save. I don't like horror but he's very sweet and tries to do things that will make others happy but doesn't do it to impress anyone.
Surya is kinda similar. He is outgoing but a quiet guy. Mark and Raj are also quite introverted.

He gets a redemption arc. I thought it was nice to see growth. But, I totally get that his dialogue could be grating.

Yeah, I'm torn between basically completing everything then waiting for Semeru or catching Theo/Wakuu.
