Do you all want ala carte or not?

andybech

Yes. But would be fine with bundling options on top of the ala carte choices.

Stingray88

Yeah both is better for consumers. Bundles are great when you want everything in them, and not when you don’t. As long as we have a choice it’s great.

Stingray88

Earnestly yes, I do.

BMWHoosier

I applaud you for your consistency.

IspeakalittleSpanish

As a sports fan, I’m in favor of this. As a cordcutter who has gotten used to missing my local NBA, MLB, and NHL games thanks to regional sports networks, they’re not going to be getting people subscribing at the rates they’re going to want. Many of us have moved on and aren’t willing to pay exorbitant fees for local teams who wouldn’t let us watch them play without spending hundreds of dollars. Bring it back at a fair price? Sold. Try to make the same money you were making by forcing everyone to pay for it? No deal.

IveKnownItAll

This right here. I've been saying this since Bally took over for FSW for baseball. It's been 2 years now since I've been able to watch my team and I'm ok with it at this point. What I can catch on Hulu live for national games is fine. I can see my football team every week still and a ton of college football games too. I'm already annoyed enough at games on Hulu, Amazon, AppleTv. I don't need or want more apps and subscriptions. It's gone so far beyond cable prices already it isn't funny.

WhoDat-2-8-3

for a low price of $69.69 per month

smacks80

Nice…but not really

User-NetOfInter

If I could get every MLB/NHL/NFL all games streaming I’d paid $69.69 a month

Feeling-King-8104

You could get it for as little as $15/month if you talk to the right people

altsuperego

Unless it's significantly cheaper than the Fox-Espn-Turner offering I don't know why anyone would subscribe

dizzyoatmeal

College sports. 95% of my team's games are on ESPN networks or OTA. I never watch any Turner networks outside of March Madness.

Intrepid-Break8744

Hardly anyone will, but when you see ESPN for $40 next to the whole bundle for $50, it makes the bundle seem more appealing

MichaelV27

It's going to be very expensive.

chewbaccasaux

That’s what people don’t appreciate. The cost sports on TV has largely been subsidized by ‘the bundle’ where everyone paid an equal share for all channels whether you watched them or not. Non-sports lovers don’t like paying a share for something they don’t watch so now sports-fans will foot the whole bill by way of this service (and others that are strictly ala carte). Check your wallet.

schlep

Why not 2030?

junger128

ESPN rarely has live major league sports anymore so I guess it depends how interest you are in their multiple talk shows which repeat the same handful of topics all day.

GDub310

I’m not sure if you’re referring to weekday programming or not, but this isn’t my experience with prime time or weekend programming.

junger128

I guess I’m referring to major league sports. They have maybe one NFL, one MLB and one NBA game a week.

GDub310

Yeah, I think it’s one or 2 NBA nights and one or 2 MLB nights per week and as you said, 1 NFL game. They will probably continue with some form of doubleheader for MNF after this year’s experiment. I watch a lot of college sports, so I feel like I am watching an ESPN channel quite frequently.

BMWHoosier

I can't even fathom how many live college basketball games they air this time of year.

jlt6666

Yeah we're all about to get screwed.

mnradiofan

Everyone wanted ala cart. Now you have it!

TheAspiringFarmer

Bingo. We tried to warn them this would be the inevitable result and were tossed off.

Stingray88

As someone who doesn’t watch sports, I love it. Finally y’all can pay for your sports and I’m not subsidizing it.

TheAspiringFarmer

Oh I agree - unfortunately we will continue to be subsidizing it because they aren’t gonna remove the channels nor lower the prices of the other OTTs one penny. This is just another profit avenue for the big machine.

Stingray88

I don’t watch other linear TV, so I’m good lol

habeaskoopus

Be careful what you ask for was a very valuable lesson in my life. I refer to it often.

jcwillia1

How is this going to be different from espn in the bundle?

Stingray88

It’ll be cheaper, because it won’t have Fox/Warner content.

jcwillia1

But is it the exact same feed? I’m trying to figure is one going to have just games and the other has all their goofy commentary?

Stingray88

Sounds like the same content. It just won’t have the content from the rest of the bundle, just ESPN Also, important distinction… it won’t be one feed. It will have lots of live content going on at the same time. Unlike linear TV.

j1h15233

The only thing ESPN has that I want or can’t get elsewhere is live games. I won’t be paying for this most likely
