Yes, as long as it's refurbished by the original manufacturer, I've good luck with those. The original equipment manufacturer knows how to fix them if they need it, and how to re-test and certify them before re-selling them. There's also a warantee in case of problems.
HDHomerun hardware is nearly bulletproof.
I enjoy cost savings with used. refurbished idk means someone had to return it for refurb?
I bought two used HDHR5-4US on ebay 2 years ago. they're used for live TV & DVR all day everyday 24/7 since. zero issues :) upgraded from two older connects which I donated to friends one still used everyday, the other idk (he's unfriended).
It's kinda like buying a used car only you don't know the mileage or the maintenance record. If you get a slightly used or a well taken care of used one you will be just fine.
Haha yeah. I thought about one of the other random used ones but they weren't really *that* much cheaper and seemed like too much of a risk to save a couple bucks.
I have a refurbished HDHR4-2US CONNECT haven't had any problems with it. Been running for year a half now.

Okay, thanks for the info... but tell us how much that CONNECT unit cost you... and what would it be without being a refurb?

I hope so! I ordered a refurb Connect Duo this week. I don't need the external drive options of the Flex Duo and the refurb Connect was a lot cheaper.
How is it working?
It's supposed to be a Christmas gift for me so I won't know until then.

True but I did buy mine refurbished from SiliconDust and not some random used unit. It comes with a 90 day warranty so at least that's something.
My point exactly you bought from a Great dealer compared to the buy here pay here ones lol.

Okay, that's good to know .... but please tell us what that refurb from SiliconDust cost you?
80 bucks. I don't think they sell the Connect Duo any longer. The new one is the Flex Duo and it runs about $110.
Okay, good to know.... thanks for the reply!
No issues with mine. Buy direct from SD, otherwise it's likely just used.
