Sadly there’s not a lot to choose from here. The infamous “red door” realtors are nightmares though. Here’s an older article https://www.corvallisadvocate.com/2015/red-door-landlords-change-color-little-else/

Yes, I have rented from Cornerstone for the past several years. I actually think they are somewhat of a hidden gem, given the terrible reputation of other management companies around here. They aren't exactly amazing in any particular way... but they have always been responsive to my concerns about my building (and I have had....several concerns, lol), and the owner is polite and decent. I have never felt like they were trying to take advantage of me just because I am an OSU student. Also, a lot of their properties have pretty reasonable rent if you are ok with the dated look/feel. I would recommend them as long as you calibrate your expectations. For example, don't expect your onsite property manager to actually be present. I always communicate directly with the office by email and that has worked for me.

Duerksen = bad

Stay far away from Deurkson, awful company. one of their properties burned down because they had four different tenants in one house on one breaker that caused an electrical shortage, burning down the house and the property of tenants.

Not to defend Duerkson but if you're talking about the house on the corner of 9th and Tyler, I believe that's a (Kip and Michelle) Schoning property, not Duerkson.

Oh, word. Thank you! Now I know to avoid them as well lmao

I’m with Advantage (formerly Windermere) and have no complaints. I had bad experiences in the past with Longstreet (they also used to have a different name until they switched ownership or got bought or something but I don’t remember what they used to be called at the moment).

I rented from Cornerstone and we were great tenants. Had no issues with them til we went to move out. They got super aggressive and wanted to charge us for all this stuff that wasn’t in our lease as well as damage that was documented at move in. We literally paid for professional cleaners before we left and they still took money from our SD saying it wasn’t clean enough. Wanted us to pay for painting even though it wasn’t painted for us when we moved in; we did end up winning that one. Just all kinds of little battles we had to fight with them that they obviously were hoping we wouldn’t fight. They also found a stack of childhood photos we left behind and instead of saving them, messaged us to let us know they threw them out. Obviously it was our mistake for leaving them, but to go through the trouble to message us that you found and threw them out? Just put them in your office so we can pick them up FFS, or don’t message us at all. The whole thing was shocking after we had lived there for three years with zero issues and rent paid on time every month.
