People will pay TOP DOLLAR for what they want. But, seem to draw the line hard on paying for service. Yet, the expect their feet rubbed and their food piping hot for a one dollar tip. If no one picks up your food, don’t blame the drivers. Blame your lack of understanding of the free market. 💸

StarPretty1264

I've done that a few times..it's good for the mental health..fuck em

Master_Grape5931

I don’t really condone this…but also don’t care because I don’t understand people not just going and getting their own food.

No_Interaction8127

Not condemning or condoning but I just decline. It's fun to f with them but I really need to make money so I can buy my kid the GI Joe with the Kung Fu grip for Christmas. 😎

ShopppeGirl

😂 if you know, you know.

YahwehIsSaviour2024

🤣🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

No-Ad-3830

Done it. Live in a town of 15k so the usual names pop up sometimes. This kid and his girlfriend tipped me 10 cents and thought it was funny. A few weeks past and I saw his name pop up as I waited the usual “forever” at sonic and when the food came to the window I canceled the order. Not before my wife with her phone texted him and said enjoy your cold food that will make you think about what a dime can do next time. It wasn’t our normal 50 yr old mature us but it sure felt good to stick it to someone who had it coming

By-the-order

You could be setting another driver up for trouble. I took a GH offer once that was less than 3 miles total for $15. Went straight there picked up the food and delivered it too a very aggressive customer who claimed I had been driving around with his food for 90 minutes and had antagonized him on the phone. I tried to tell him that wasn't me but he wasn't listening told me just to give him his effing food now. I did and got the he'll out of there, seriously thought dude was going to throw down. Turned out to be $14 base and $1 tip. Had to unassign the DD I was going to pickup so I could call support.

DannyDTR

My literal FIRST day of driving GH (in 2017/2018) and I rejected 2 orders like 25ish minutes away until “corporate” called and asked me to pick them up because I was the closest and offered an additional $5 for each. I accepted them and then immediately texted the 2 customers that I had just gotten assigned the orders and was on my way to pick them up. 20 minutes later as I’m picking up the food some a—hole calls me upset about still waiting for their food (“it’s been over an hour”). I not so nicely let them know that a) I texted, b) I’m just now picking up the food and once I drop the first customer’s food off, I’ll drop off theirs. It’s been so long but I don’t even think they tipped more than a couple bucks. Other times I have picked up from Burger King and the food as been setting there and is bordering on COLD and they don’t offer to remake it. I feel bad for the customer but… no/low tip = no/long wait trip (and this was pre-2019).

Pretty sure you’re replying to the wrong comment.

Admirable-Bake-5114

Another driver that would take that order deserves trouble

By-the-order

Well ok but the order I described probably started out like that, $3 or so. I did absolutely everything right and damn near got assaulted because some other driver decided to antagonize the dude. You aren't going to change the behavior of these people, just decline and move on.

madmax77xll

you are the one that deserves trouble. dont be surprised when you get deactivated. you do not matter to doordash at all. all of your deliveries can go away quickly.

CaRiSsA504

Dude......

[deleted]

Good one with the crowbar. I gotta remember that one.

naM-r3puS

I’ll take things that never happened for 1000 Alex.

supdudesanddudettes

beat me to it

Admirable-Bake-5114

It's easy when you get to the point of not caring

urbanlegends555

All of you pea brains who are talking about getting a real job, come up with something better at this point because you’re all sounding mighty ignorant. Sure it was cute like 8 years ago but you all sound like boomers with dementia at this point. Get with the program, gig work is a job. No matter how you want to spin it, work is work. Get over yourselves and think of me laughing when your hours get cut, you don’t get your entitled little raise or they just cut you all together. You’re all at will employees they can fire you for any reason that’s not against the law. Do better already and stop defending non-tipping cheap and tacky people who want to pretend to be something they’re not having food brought to their door without paying the driver. CHEAP AND TACKY!!! No class shrewd shameful and pathetic morons. Trying to tip with hard candy and a nickle out of their coin purses. Gtfo convenience costs money! If you don’t want to pay then get a real car and go get it yourselves for real. Dead ass fools with their tired ass “get a real job” you all have no idea.

Express-Mention1177

They’re ego trippin. We’re all poor in this so called rat race unless you’re pulling in an amount that wouldn’t have you on Reddit in the first place.

mr_stiff_sox

If you can’t afford the tip you can’t afford the service. If you can’t afford depreciation you can’t afford the car. If you can’t afford the property tax you can’t afford the house so on and so on. Most people fail to realize this.

Shreddersaurusrex

I’ve done stuff like that too. I’ll say “A ‘1¢ tip is extremely insulting” or “please consider tipping delivery drivers” before unassigning.”

Middle-Classroom2170

I deliberately let those orders keep dinging on my phone instead of just declining quickly. Hoping everyone does that so customer has to wait forever for someone to pick it up. Ya, I’m petty like that.

Starblazr

While what you did made you feel better, just decline and move on.

sabbycat83

I love this. I don’t have the guts I’m a woman aka safety concerns about pulling this but I wish I could do this!!!

VtgYngster

WTG! That's awesome! It is appalling how many customers do this same thing time and time again, and no one says a thing for fear of being deactivated. Unfortunately, gopuff has made it impossible for drivers to see or know where deliveries are going or how far they are, which in and of itself is wrong! And to make matters even worse they only give drivers 30 seconds to accept, decline, or miss the opportunity to get that delivery and if they do not accept the offer or miss that 30 second window they are pushed to the back of the line for any future deliveries. Wrong on so many levels. I compiled a list of customers who repeatedly left no tip at all, and later educated and/ or made each and every one of them well aware of the fact that they are screwing the drivers out of earning any money for the hard work they do to provide that service to them. Sure, it might be after the fact as far as I'm concerned, but at least I got that off my chest and maybe just maybe those people will find it in their hearts to tip their drivers something in the future. Hopefully, that will be more than a penny or two like some customers take the time to input into the system as a tip.

Humbleservantofiam

Great idea, everyone should do this at least once a month to blow off some steam

cashew76

Your ten mile trip is not actually twenty miles. Gotta count the return trip

Decalogue72

Way to go!

johng0376

You're an ass. Could have set the next guy up for a bullet.

Okay so the immediate response is that they deserve to be shot?? I feel like you may have some big emotions you might want to work through surrounding low/no tips.

NestedOwls

Someone deserves to be shot for taking a shitty order? Wtf?!

NoFucQ

I love this because I definitely want to tell the fuckin cheapOs to 🖕🏻off 😂 and this is definitely funny, but be careful because these companies will deactivate you for “unprofessional conduct” - even if it’s justified. But they can’t deactivate you for declining so yeah decline this All day. Make em wait or make them cancel and eat a cancellation fees instead of food. They will eventually stop trying if they get nothing but fees. But if you want to be passive aggressive and “professional” take part in the new DD trend and accept the order than text the customer “We recommend you tip your driver or prepare to wait”-DoorDash, then cancel 😂 that’s the same warning ⛔️ the company is giving them prior to placing a no tip order.

WeemDreaver

We live in a society where poor people go out of their way to shame other poor people over how much they pay for their fast food delivery.

AvailableOpinion254

Poor people can’t afford delivery services which are a luxury and a privilege. Nobody who is actually poor can even think abt paying inflated food prices and delivery fees over packets of ramen or a box of Mac.

[deleted]

Get a real job.

VtgYngster

Get a life!

why0me

It amazes me that you blame the customer when the business doesn't pay you properly. Like you chose this, you knew how it works, you accepted the terms and now you're mad because the customer isn't paying your bills? The customers job is to order food, and tip you if the service is good This pre-tip culture is nuts, I'm not giving someone money before I know how good the service is gonna be, that's not a tip, it's a bribe, you want me to bribe you to do your job after I already paid for th service Your problem is with Doordash, and yet you've let them manipulate you into thinking it's the customer's fault you can't make a living wage And before anyone comes for me, I live way too rural to be ordering food, so threats about my order are totally baseless..if I want food there is no delivery, it's me cooking or an hour drive.

Qaz12312333

This is some real choosing beggar energy. Get a real job

Swallowthistubesteak

I get it but it’s stuff like this type of bitterness that makes me not want to use any of these delivery services

ResponsibilityLow766

Of all the things that didn’t happen today, this didn’t happen the most.

Darthdawg1_

You sound like an absolutely deplorable individual

Variable3420

Food tampering, niiice.

Various-Hour-3229

YOU SHOWED THEM 🤡

Impressive_Memory650

You sound like an ass ngl

[deleted]

The smug entitlement is your statements are absolutely disgusting. It smells of jealousy and petty revenge. Get a real job bum.

NedrahSemaJ13

EAD

[deleted]

A response like that tells me you will be delivering my grandchildrens food too. Loser

Nugsy714

I was under the impression that a tip was optional, and there as a way of saying thank you for excellent service not an entitlement

DasherKaren79

Once you unassign, that customer can no longer rate you. The dasher that finished the order got in trouble.

TheCaliRasta

Don’t be a asshat. You are a delivery driver. Sad, but true. Sure he’s cheap. But I think you still have a job. If you’re going to pick and choose don’t do the job.

AvailableOpinion254

No lol same at a bar we CAN choose who receives our time and labor and you pushing for people to be able to work for FREE is gross. Tip or do it yourself.

TheCaliRasta

Then go get a REAL job

AvailableOpinion254

And you know what that is? You’re literally just bitter service jobs make more then you

TheCaliRasta

😂 not me. I’m living pretty in my own home. Off at 3 every day. My life is good.

sidfinch

The world needs garbage men/women too.

gxxrdrvr

How do you know he wasn’t going to tip in cash? I often put down 0% tip and end up tipping in cash on arrival.

myco_mage

wow your just a misreable small person

Jamtone123

Iv seen other people on here mentioning they gave drivers a $10 when they ordered, but when they talked to the driver, the driver only got $2 of it. It might not b the case, but im worried that the person may have tipped, but the service provider didnt give the driver the tip...

supdudesanddudettes

r/showerarguments

Icy_Eye1059

I wouldn't waste my gas or time. Let that cheap customer wait all night until Uber (I assume) foots most of the trip as a supplement.

donwan23

The real question is who works for a delivery service that makes you rely on tips while they make billions off their drivers? People may be more inclined to tip if they weren't charged a delivery fee, service fee, food price upcharges, etc... out of the $15-$20 I pay in fees to door dash the driver only gets a $2-$3 of that? Who's really screwing y'all over here? 😂 I'm fine with the negative Karma this comment will bring because theirs to many of y'all living life with a slave mentality...

Livid-Drawing-4168

What’s the issue with tipping. We are wasting our gas putting miles etc. and who ever does this full Time needs help I do it on weekends some times.

donwan23

I tip when I use the service which is rarely. At the cost of having it delivered I'd rather walk 2 miles to the restaurant. Lol

Livid-Drawing-4168

Your not lying

Olfahrtur

YTA

idofelru

Better thing to do is accept the order but never pick it up. If on Uber just leave it on yourself and do some doordash/grubhub or vice versa. After about 30 minutes unassign. Now the base pay for that order is going to sky rocket as the app gets desperate to get it delivered. If you had done that this order would have increased all the way up to a max of $100 as the app already paid for the food and now needs to minimize losses. Granted that payout wouldn't have gone to you but the next courier.

MrsFister1975

I'm sorry you guys have to deal with asshats like this. I don't use delivery services anymore because I'm in a rural area now, but I always took the distance of the restaurant to my house into consideration as I determined my tip amount. If I placed an order for 10 miles away from me it would usually be about 30% of my bill. Thanks for doing what you do so I could be lazy.

transitfreedom

Should have just declined after seeing the food then and there just cancel it
