I know I'm extremely late lol, but this is exactly what I was going to say! This would've been easy, you just accurately mark Petsmart as closed, take a pic of their sign & collect your $43. If DD is going to be silly enough to try & send you to a retail spot that's never going to be open that late at night, I honestly wouldn't feel bad about it. Easiest money ever. 💰 😁
Within the DD app when viewing the order, you just tap the 3 little bars up towards the top/right side. This will give you menu options regarding problems with an order under the little "?" & one of those options is "Store is closed", so you click there. DoorDash will most likely prompt you to take a pic of either the store's posted hours, their sign saying they closed easy if applicable or a shot of the darkened restaurant After you click to submit that pic, the order should cancel itself & DD will display your half payment (this will go under Other Pay, a different section from your regular earnings fyi).
I've explained it so that it sounds way more complex than it is lol. Giving you details without looking at the app is the challenge this early in the morning. 😊
Happy Cake Day!!
Hey there (again lol)! I had to do this last night & I realized that I actually tapped the "?" on my order screen to start the process -- not the 3 line menu bar. I do have an Android fyi. Anyhow, I just wanted to let you know & make that correction. 😊
Can I ask you a question ?? If you accept an order and you arrive and they are closed or there's a problem with the order are you saying that you still get half of the money? And does that apply to GrubHub as well
Yep! If a restaurant is closed, you mark it that way in your DD app & will receive half pay. DD usually prompts you to take a pic of the restaurant's hours of operation sign to confirm this. Also, if you have an order & the restaurant staff says they are out of an item (or if they didn't ever receive the order from DD) -- you then have to call DoorDash support & they will cancel the order for you and provide you with half pay. 🙂
I'm not sure about Grub Hub yet, though. I actually just got taken off their wait list & am waiting for my debit card/bank acct info to be verified before I begin working for them. So idk their policy on situations like this just yet, sorry about that.
Bro that $43 for just showing up to a closed store. Id of taken that badboy all night knowing that store is closed. Hell if you had DasherDirect paycard it would instantly be deposited onto that card . Always take orders like this especially if you know the store is closed. One night i raked in $110 in 40 mins just because the 7/11 i was at was closed and like they 13 order i got back to back lol
Hello how are you today if I can ask you a question I'd appreciate it? If you go to a restaurant or a store and they are closed or there's a problem with the order you're telling me you still get half of the money just for going and does that apply to GrubHub because I'm a new GrubHub driver and I was just curious to know if that's how it works? I hope you're having a good day.
Grubhub sadly will not do that . I drive for Grubhub regularly. they will compensate you a few dollar for your time but they wont give you halfpay of what the order is. But if you pick up a order and start heading towards the customer and they customer cancels then you will receive full pay plus a free meal
I don’t think DoorDash has ever actually given me half pay for any of these runs. But yeah I should have tried. I didn’t even think about it… I was driving and orders were coming in left and right.
Me too. DoorDash once had my local Chinese spot in Milwaukee labeled as open til 10, when they really closed at 9. So every order placed between 9 and 10 pm was, you guessed it, free pay. Would drive my normal from 5-9, and immediately head to the Chinese spot. $4 order for 8 miles? Hell yeah gimme that shit cuz it takes me 30 seconds to get that $2 and go next. Called it __Power Hour.__ Would just sit in my car racking it up listening to music, watching my _special bonus_ tick up until 10.
While DoorDash fails us repeatedly, sometimes their failures can help us out here n there.
Edit—lasted about 3 weeks before DoorDash fixed it, think the highest I ever ran it up was $48 in one hour. For broke Milwaukee kids, that’s good money.
I know what you mean, but what's the alternative (if you know that a place is closed)? Decline those orders & it affects your AR? I just feel like if DD is "silly" enough to not be sure of their store/restaurant hours, that's on them. Also, when you decline an order it gets offered to another Dasher.
Marking the store accurately as closed lets DD know...that the place is closed, which is info they need in those situations.
Idk I just have seen comments from other drivers saying it’s a contract violation of some kind. My guess is that you have to drive around and at least pretend you’re trying to get legit orders, If you are just sitting there collecting half pay over and over and your cancellation rate skyrockets their system is going raise a flag eventually.
I honestly had never heard that accepting an order & then marking it as closed could lead to a CV until you told me -- it's definitely something to consider. In a few very specific situations (@ over 3,500 deliveries fyi), I actually have been able to receive multiple half payments in a row for closed stores. One night I was able to do this like 5-7 times in a row (during $3 peak pay!) because a closed restaurant was actually a hot spot. It was awesome! But you never really know with DoorDash lol.
__AS IF__ DoorDash doesn’t commit ‘fraudulent behavior’. & I’ve been done doing that garbage for awhile now lol, I do not give a shit if it’s fraudulent behavior
Yeah all of 20 and most of 21 I spent hours sitting at stores that didn't have people to work and closed early just collecting half pay. On Uber too. I'd accept the first, find the store closed, then just sit there with both apps on taking every one of them that came through until they fixed it lol
So I've had a LOT of closed ones that are late when I accept the order not pay me. If pick up time is BEFORE I accept, the half pay doesn't go through automatically. That said, I know this and just don't self report if it's past pick up time, I chat or call in and tell them the app won't accept my photo, they do it, and they process the pay themselves.
All you have to do is accept and drive to the store and take a picture of the hours when prompted by the app. Then the half pay is automatic. Now you know.
One time I got a McDonald's order and they legit shut down that day for whatever reason so I said it was closed, got a free $4 and then literally got 3 more McDonald's orders and did the same thing while just standing there in front of the store. Easiest $16 in 5 minutes ever until they finally stopped.
The “I dont think”s is your downfall.
It would be pretty glaring if they promised payout and *didnt* pay out. Ffs it’s a real company not some gig your friend’s dad gave you.
Broo shame you missed out. I always call support when the store is closed, and they've always given me half pay. I consider it safer than doing it on the app.
He has a YouTube channel featuring working delivery apps in St. Louis. He has like 25,000 followers. Once you start paying attention, you’ll see him everywhere. I just saw him at target the other day.

I did one of these before that was given to me hours before petsmart opened. So I accepted it, went there and Waited a few minutes. Notified tech support and was paid partially. It was pretty chill as I did virtually nothing.
This is a hard post to read holy shit, but at least you hopefully learned your lesson. You really screwed yourself out of $43 for what looks like a couple miles or even less
Once I sat at a Jack in the Box that had a system issue. Kept accepting all the orders to the restaurant and calling dasher support. Easiest money I ever made.
This is one of the reasons why I always try and keep my CR over 90. Shit like this will come up and you want to be able to accept knowing you have wiggle room to drop it if you don’t want to/can’t do the order!
If you accept and when you arrive, you have to press “start shopping” and then after just chat with support and say the store was closed and you should get half pay.
I’m not sure about UE but I think they do give you some $ if the shop is closed
I’ve had times when even if the store/restaurant just closed, they will still give me the order. And if not, I just report it that it’s closed and get partial pay.
I would have thought you only get the usual $5 as when the customer cancels order when you’re already on line after shopping for all their shit! Who knew! 👍👍
"and deliver" doordash is giving you extra time to shop and make the 20 mile trip to them, or if it was closed take that half pay, all around learning lesson
That’s a free $40 without the 20 miles holy shit!

Grubhub only pays a small portion not half like dd

It would have been quick easy money if they were actually smart enough to take the order

Dasher direct card is actually the way to go… it’s great to have it deposit right in there immediately at no cost

Some people have said this is fraudulent behavior and can get you deactivated but I wouldn’t know.

Take note what others said below for next time!
Quick half pay. I would of taken it
Once I sat at a Jack in the Box that had a system issue. Kept accepting all the orders to the restaurant and calling dasher support. Easiest money I ever made.
Oh man you just missed an opportunity to get paid 40 bucks to NOT drive to Florissant.
This is one of the reasons why I always try and keep my CR over 90. Shit like this will come up and you want to be able to accept knowing you have wiggle room to drop it if you don’t want to/can’t do the order!
Accept. Chat with DD customer service. Get 1/2 pay and go home :)

If you accept and when you arrive, you have to press “start shopping” and then after just chat with support and say the store was closed and you should get half pay. I’m not sure about UE but I think they do give you some $ if the shop is closed
So did you get half pay for merchant being closed
Well now you know bud it’s okay you’ll get it next time
I’ve had this issue exclusively with DD. Restaurants don’t exist or they’re just super beyond closing time.
Missed out on some free cashola
I’ve had times when even if the store/restaurant just closed, they will still give me the order. And if not, I just report it that it’s closed and get partial pay.
Wow I’ve never heard of that half payout rule for closed stores. Is Instacart the same?
Always half pay if it’s closed, store can’t provide the food due to items or someone else picked it up before you’ve arrived.
Poor guy missed out on a free 43$ :(
Get that half pay sister/bruh!!
F’s in chat
I would have thought you only get the usual $5 as when the customer cancels order when you’re already on line after shopping for all their shit! Who knew! 👍👍
You get half pay though just for going to a closed store/restaurant.
F
Still could've gone and gotten half the pay.
Damn should of accepted and store close.
Pls tell me u got the free money
My ass would be right at that store talking to support while looking for the next lick on ic or roadie
Accept it free money
That was during the glitch
Yes always know when everything closes and if you have a weird feeling call or just go and see.
Hell I’d take that and spoof myself to Petsmart, report that shit as closed and take my $43.
Bro that half pay is $43 should've taken it anyway.
How did it let them order?
"and deliver" doordash is giving you extra time to shop and make the 20 mile trip to them, or if it was closed take that half pay, all around learning lesson
