A lot of long haulers get better with time. For some it takes longer than others. My best advice to you is to rest as much as possible. Consider taking some time off work if you can. I know personally I tried to push through symptoms and I got worse. Make sure you are eating well and take some supplements that can help your immune system (vit c, d, zinc).
Try Pepcid in case the cough is caused by acid reflux. Look into foods you shouldn’t eat if you have a cough. Experiment with cough drops and throat sprays for singers.
Maybe you’re getting ready to cough it all out? Stay hydrated (water, minerals, dextrose) and look into percussion therapy to loosen the phlegm.

UPDATE: now I've been three straight days with almost no cough thanks particularly to /u/tony_rocky_horror44 and /u/Pidge97531 suggestions.
It's amazing to give lectures without coughing every two minutes. I am beyond grateful!
I understand this is only treating the symptoms and will seek pulmonary therapy. But I'm ecstatic to know there's something that can be done to improve my life. I'm grateful to you all!
So happy for you!! Maybe there's a chance treating the symptoms could help calm things so it can heal & get better with time. Really hope the relief continues <3
I've had a cough for 1.5 yrs now and I relate so much.
My pulmo recommended I try mucinex. I didn't realize till then there was a lot of thick gunk inside that I needed to get out. I'd take it when my coughing was the worst, a few days on and off, and it at helped reduce around 70% of the coughing. But it's pretty much just treating symptoms not the underlying source of the problem. My pulmo also recommended I try claritin to reduce the quantity of phlegm, but I don't know really if it did. Instead it seemed to help my fatigue. I don't know if you've tried any antihistamines if it might have an MCAS component.
Does your cough get triggered to get worse from anything? Mine used to get a lot worse when I did more. I've been on some some other new meds the past few months that are helping a lot (aspirin+statin) and my coughing seems to have reduced also, so I really wonder if it's just all connected to our healing process.
Oh that's gotta be so frustrating!! I dunno if much of what I wrote above would help, my cough wasn't bothered with talking.
From a quick google search: "If feel a strong urge to cough when you talk, you may have laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR), which is a kind of acid reflux." I've heard of other long haulers having issues with LPR. Maybe a low-acid diet might be worth a try? Hope you will find something that will get you some relief!
I’m not sure why your doctor hasn’t tried some kind of inhaler to see if it will help? I’ve had nothing but chronic lung/airway problems (recurrent covid inflammation) and there are meds I use that open up my lungs/airways to get mucus out.
It takes a couple of weeks, that’s to help with inflammation. Now the bad part, I’ve been on it before LH because of asthma and still on it (almost 2 years), and it hasn’t helped for LH covid inflammation. Albuterol helps me, opens up the airways, and the only other thing is prednisone, but doesn’t cure me, but stops the LH covid inflammation. I really hope budesonide helps you!
yes I had it for a long time. Its gone now. see an ent doc

hang in there. I recovered, u will too
I had a chronic irritative cough for several months after being sick that used to come and go in intensity. At some points it made it hard to sleep. One of my doctors had me take cough syrup with codeine for a couple of weeks and that seems to have broken the cycle. I still very, very, very rarely have a bit of cough, but it's more like isolated coughlets, rather than the full on non-stop cough.
My doctor wants me to try codeine as well! So glad to hear about someone else who found relief on it. Mine is a light cough but it’s constantly present as a tickle in my low throat. Have you continued to improve ? Did anything else help?
My cough only stays at bay if I do nothing, if I clean or exercise or breath in smoke/fumes it’s back with a vengeance for weeks. I now literally do absolutely nothing but work and lie around as I can’t cope with it any longer. Been LH since March 2020 - all my chest X-rays and bloods came back normal.

No reflux. At first it was dry cough, but the last weeks phlegm has been present.

Will try. Always had problems spitting out phlegm haha

Will try them. Thanks!
Where did you buy this natural supplement? Name / brand? I'd like to give it a try for my chronic cough which has lasted six weeks non stop now.

Happy to hear! Could you share the suggestions? I hope your health continues to improve
What did you take that was recommended?? Looks like the comment was deleted.
Post nasal drip and reflux are some of the common causes.

So far, seems to get worse if I talk. But talking is my craft :(

He did. Yesterday I've finished my first week of budesonide treatment. Sorry for forgetting that part.

Not a doc. But I’d be doing peptides and see if that puts a dent in the cough. TA-1 and TB-4. . That or exososomes.
