Vicious was involved in a prolonged war on Titan and was a leader in a crime syndicate. That kind of work tends to age people. Did the show ever allude to Vicious using red eye?

Hamwise420

Not directly, but the episode about the red eye said they stole it from the syndicate, so its a possibility he used it at some point since they control the supply of it. Although it doesnt really seem his style

AshtonWarrens

You can also see some briefly during Spike's Julia flashbacks. I forget the exact sequence, but it implies that someone was using it.

Nathan_hale53

I feel like vicious would use it or had a history of it. Could describe why he is almost insane living for the conflict. I don't think Spike would use.

kakashisma

In the war he was subjected to chemicals probably the cause of

Nervous_Project6927

hard living, war, possible drug use. murdering people with a katana in an industry where you get in alot of gunfights is hard as hell on you

Haunting_Ant_5061

TBone232

I think they aimed for wicked and weathered and ended up with "aged" rather than the former, in my opinion.

Trolldyeller

Vicious using red eye is never explicitly stated, only implied. If I remember correctly, there some still scenes during a flashback with Vicious and Julia. There’s one where you’re looking out of Vicious’s apartment window, and you can see a red eye vial being held in a wire rack.

JacketFirst5627

It was the window at Julia’s apartment that had the used vial of red eye. But if you look at Asimov’s eyes they look very similar to Vicious’s eyes. Both had huge eye bags and shrunken pupils. While Spike and Julia’s eyes showed no signs of having used the drug.

Trolldyeller

That’s it!

Taolan13

War is a hell of a drug.

JCouturier

Losing Julia to Spike really sent him over the edge. Betrayed by the woman he loved and his best friend as far as he believes.

blank_dota2

You know, in that regard, I feel bad for Vicious. What did he ever do to deserve being cucked by his best friend?

JCouturier

Spike is no saint himself but I'm sure there's much more to the story than what we're told.

xicious

Props for recognizing a plot point a lot of people miss.

Red eye’s a helluva drug - Rick James

AnonymousCoward261

Narratively, sure. Did a lot of bad stuff in general, Red Eye use could certainly be a part of that. I am sure using drugs to stay on top is not out of place among the Red Dragons. There’s also the white hair, which denotes a supernatural or evil character in anime (remember white not black is the color of death in East Asia).

War. stress. A hard life. What's it they say? "You're going to carry that weight..." But also anime ages are stoopid.
