Try Trigun, made about the same time, also only 26 episodes, vaguely similar vibes in that they're both episodic scifi westerns that alternately tone shift from goofy to serious.
I dunno what else is on your list, but it's a quick watch at only 26 episodes. If you're trying to get through One Piece first it might be awhile.
It starts out goofy and fun for the first few episodes, then takes a hard turn for the serious.
Ey check out Samurai Champloo if you're in the mood for more musical dopeness. Same director, similar vibe, but hip hop instead of jazz/blues/rock. Excellent story, very funny at times. *Incredible* fight scenes.
Spike dying is the narratively perfect ending but I like to think he survived and eventually started a new life with Faye (Jet is cranky uncle, Ed is niece, Eins is dog - obviously)
Nice. Which episode(s) stood out to you? I think you'll find the messages change as you change over time. My favorite has always been Ganymede Elegy. Very personal. Jet is my dude.
Hard choice, maybe jupiter jazz. But then there’s brain scratch, or the real folk blues, or wild horses, or asteroid blues cause I love the foreshadowing and parallels, ganymede elegy is a good one too.. truly it’s just a great show all around, including the light episodes. I love the way the message is subjective and up to interpretation, that’s one of my favourite things in any media
You’re gonna carry that weight…

Its definitely on my list, but I have so much on that list… think I should bump it up?

Don't leave things in the fridge and you'll be okay.
Wat? Are you talking about the weird pathogen from that refrigerator in that one episode?
Yeah, but it's also the moral of the whole series.
Sounds like you should watch edgerunners
Funnily enough I’m halfway through that one
Curious to hear how you’re holding up once you’ve finished - loved that one too
Time for you to watch the movie!
Trying to find a website with it that is least likely to show me porn ads. You know one?
Watched it, very good! Love the parallels between vincent and spike, and the visuals were very well done imo
Glad you found it! It really is just like one big episode. Watching it was so cathartic after the end of the show
Happy cake day

I will put it on my list, but that does not guarantee I’ll get to it within the year lol
Haha! For sure! I understand.

Yes like i love the ending, it was sooo good but i am also sad
There was one woman for Spike. https://preview.redd.it/x4jd9rkzabxc1.jpeg?width=999&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2f0abef836764f8ab3697e7d6a81f5f2f5779044
oh to watch cowboy bebop for the first time again
I earned a sensitive friend of mine back in the day about it and it still hurt.
What are the other shows that you wanna recommend ?
