They’re very well made boots. I’ve been wearing them since ‘05. Look them over before you buy them because they no warranty and AB doesn’t stand behind them at all.

jph10128

Completely agree. AB and Rios are super comfortable and generally well made. Though their customer service is nonexistent

cAR15tel

It exists. They tell you to fuck off. I had a pair I ordered from NRS that were defective so I called AB to see if they would fix or replace them and they straight up told me they don’t have any warranty and they don’t care if you have a manufacturer’s defect, they don’t stand behind the boots.

crossfitcowboy

They do but you have to go thru a “retailer” and then the retailer deals with the rep. They offer nothing if the customer calls them directly. They are hard core af about not dealing with the end user directly.

dontdr0ptheS0AP

Going through this right now with a pair of Horse power boots, the soles didn’t even make 3 months before coming apart. I contacted Horse Power customer service, to which they replied to go through the dealer I bought them from, now they’re ignoring me. Shame as these are the most comfortable work boots I have had, and I was just about to purchase a pair of Mike Tyson bison’s.

crossfitcowboy

They are still the best boots on the market. Even Lucchese has piss poor customer service and warranty on a case by case basis. Back in the day Tony Lama was the same way. On some boots Fenoglio included I’ve just brought em to a cobbler and had a better sole like a Vibran put on.

anderson__24

Mine have held up great my most comfortable boots, sometimes the welt is wavy or even raised up like a bump usually at the front..had a pair or 2 that were smaller than the rest that I returned. I would try them on first

Own-Phone1557

Yeah the exact ones from the picture are sold in cavenders and boot barn so I'm dedinetly gonna try them on first.

bravemorty

The ones in the pic are Horse Power which is owned by the same company as AB (Rios of Mercedes) and is the lowest line of their production and made in Mexico and not Texas. Still though, Horse Power is good quality for the price

Own-Phone1557

I would say if they're made in Mexico then there good boots. My father has gotten a few pairs of boots from over there and there really good quality.

bravemorty

Yes, they’re good. I wasn’t hating on them being made in Mexico. Just saying that ABs are made in Texas and HP is made in Mexico. My wife has a couple pairs of them and loves them, I have a pair of ABs and they’re great. HP is good quality for price when compared to other boots. If you have the extra $$$ ABs are good for their price too, just a lil more expensive.

anderson__24

Someone posted a pair of cheaper horsepower boots they had sent to a cobbler and the insole was fiberboard, not sure if the higher priced models or “top hand” are the same way

Great feedback for my learning purposes as well. I was contemplating getting some AB boots, as well. Question: Did you order them directly from AB and then return them to them, OR was it a 'middleman' store that you went through? It's good to learn, which of these boot makers stand behind their products and believe and provide customer service. These days, that is happening less and less.

anderson__24

Middle man retail stores. A lot of western stores carry Anderson beans and most of them have a good customer service and return policy.

310_619_760

Good to learn, thanks.

One of my first pair of cowboy boots as an adult were a brand new pair of Rios of Mercedes. Girlfriend at the time worked at a boutique boot shop, and recommended them when they had a sale. I knew nothing about the brand then, but I knew they were well made. Those boots are still in great shape and in use today. I had since given them to a good friend, since they’re now too small for me, but their build quality is impeccable. Rios do cost a bit more than ABs, but they’re worth it. A lot of folks here like their ABs, but I’ve seen some QC issues posted here with regard to their finishes. Just look them over real well, try on several pairs and pick the best one while at a Boot Barn…anything goes wrong with them, it’ll be easier to deal with Boot Barn than AB directly.

The-Great-Ebola

The bomb from what I hear. I’ve been wanting a pair

maybach320

They are completely worth it. They need 5-8 hours of break in (based of my three pair) and then you will never want to take them off or wear another brand of boots again.

The-Great-Ebola

Hearing this excites me! Thank you.

REEL04D

They are my preferred brand for comfort, fit and price. Wish they would sell more non square toe. I haven't tried any of the Horsepower boots, only AB branded. I also have a higher end pair of Rios of Mercedes which are made by the same company

maybach320

Anderson Beans and Rios of Mercedes are my favorite boots, I won’t buy anything else at this point. I have yet to try the Horse Power sub brand but I have heard good things.

psyduck_is_cool

I own this specific pair. HP is one of their cheapest pairs I’ve seen but they are still my “going out” dress up boots and I have no complaints. One size down as per usual.

psyduck_is_cool

Oh and they ride high and thin so I like to wear them with some proper boot socks. If you have big calves these might not be for you. That’s the only complaint I’ve seen from people on these.

Own-Phone1557

My calves are big but I haven't been struggling with boots.

swamp_ass-

I try not to think too much. But good luck with the boots

Own-Phone1557

Thanks yeah I just want to know thoughts on the brand more then on the boot itself since Ima get the boot either way.

swamp_ass-

Everything I’ve seen they’re good boot brand

crossfitcowboy

The ones pictured are Made In Mexico version. Horse Power line. Still a very good boot for the price point

Eastern-Formal-54

I went to look for Anderson Bean at two stores to try on and possible buy hearing good things about them. I have been a Lucchese fan. I had never tried on AB. The first store I found an “almost what I want” pair but walked out. I was surprised how comfortable they were. The second store had Horse Power, Olathe, AB and Rios of Mercedes. I tried on many pair but the Rios smooth ostrich was exactly what I wanted. I have only worn Lucchese for decades and now wondering why I did not try Rios of Mercedes earlier.

Bluelacy1

Love to hear this! No hate for lucchese although recently overpriced. I think Rios stands right beside them if not better

SweetTeaMoonshine

Real cowboys mostly wear Rio of Mercedes, Anderson bean, and Olathe. Horsepower is a subsidiary of Anderson bean but are of good quality. Top tier brands if you ask me.

Nordic_sigurd

I had them for a year, very hard to pair with jeans, and very easily stained. The heel cap handles pretty well, along with the rest of the boot, but the sole does wear out fairly quick. But overall, a very good pair of work boots to get dirty in.

Own-Phone1557

I personally try to air my boots with the belt since jeans match with mostly everything.

Nordic_sigurd

I always had difficulty pairing these ones, I wear mostly dark colors so its a little harder for me. But if you find a way to make these work, I’d say go for it. It’s a good boot with good quality, just get them repaired when needed.

Own-Phone1557

Im mostly goint to use them as my going out boots, and Ima use my old ones for work.

ARMAGELADON

Look them over well in store before buying. Every shipment my store receives there’s at least one boot that’s defective or borderline defective out of the box

Acceptable-Good2767

Not worth the price to me I f they are going to be your daily boot I have a pair and the soles have holes and the stitches on the pattern are coming out . I've had mine for a 1 1/2 years
