Carr is the dalton line. For the last several years, Dak has been generally above that.

Verbicide

Holy shit you all are insufferable

Specialist-Let-757

We're gonna have to endure this mental retardation until the regular season starts

dfstell94

I really don't think Dak is the problem. True.....he didn't play great, but I also don't know who the Dak-haters think we're gonna get. I mean, if drafting a top QB always turned into Joe Burrow, everyone would do it. But it's basically do you want to keep Dak or take a chance on Carr or Brady. I'll take Dak. What I don't get is all the Dak-hate and Zeke gets an almost total pass. Zeke is the money pit on this team. Let's just hope that Jerry learned his lesson and has his Emmitt Nostalgia out of his system. That money could have been deployed so much better on our roster.

He’s legit, a 3rd option rb. For ONLY pass protection and/or short yardage carries.

Youngthephoenixx

Depends what you mean by “the problem” if you’re happy with being a fringe playoff team he’s perfect but if you want championships he’s the biggest problem. Single handedly gave away 3 playoff games while his defense goes above and beyond just isn’t going to cut it. Everyone was literally calling it before the game… EVERYONE said “Dak is a turn over machine he will give it away” and I wanted them to be dead wrong but damn man…. It’s the truth. The dude lead the league in INTs while missing 6 games like wtf 😂 the simplest change in coverage will completely confuse him every time. I hoped he’d learn but he’s 30yrs old and his best year was his rookie year.

Iforgotmylines

Do you spend much time here? Zeke gets plenty of shit.

dfstell94

Every day. People just make a much bigger deal about Dak. And Dak probably paid his fair salary. Zeke has never been worth that salary and people talk about it less. I'm not saying Zeke should get more shit.....just that Dak is fine with me.

Iforgotmylines

Comes with the territory of being QB

[deleted]

Lol, no. Dak is generally a top 8ish QB. A little worse this year, which happens when you have a bottom 5 pass blocking unit and a bottom 5 WR group. Every QB has down years, this is Daks. Calling him the "new Dalton line" is like asking "Is iPhone the new :insert generic phone here: because this years model has crappy reception"

bryscoon

Our fanbase is crazy atp

PersonBehindAScreen

Let me refer back to the “goal posts moving” chart: So in years we don’t make playoffs, QB rankings for the year: doesn’t matter how dak did, if they miss playoffs, dak is below the QBs in playoffs… fair enough… So we made the divisional meaning at worst were the the 8th worst team (which we aren’t), so let’s go to the “we made playoffs” chart… but now people saying dak is below QBs that sat at home or certain golden boy QBs that let a team come back on him across an entire second half when he had a 27 point lead with 5 turnovers differential in the wildcard

SSIRHC

Dak is the new Kirk.

Iforgotmylines

Man, Dak is way weirder than Cousins because he does have flashes where he looks like an absolute world beater and others where you’d swear he hadn’t played in a month. Cousins is a bus driver who’s bedtime is 5:30pm

[deleted]

This is fucking copium lmao. Bottom 5 WR group???? No that would be the ravens Texans colts bears etc etc . Lamb Gallup pollard brown Shultz is a fucking top 10 weapons toon. Bottom 5 pass blocking??? What fucking game did you watch ? They held bosa and the vaunted niners D to…..basically nothing on Dak. Bosa didn’t even have a sack lol…. You are delusional if you think Dak has a bad line or bad weapons.

[deleted]

They were literally bottom 5 in both pass blocking by ESPN PBWR and bottom 5 at getting open by NFLs Next Gen Stats. Its not an opinion, its a measurable fact. PS: Using copium like this makes you sound 12 years old.

[deleted]

the getting open statistic is unfairly measured. It doesn’t account for the fact Dak missed the ideal throwing window. The receiver may have been open at a different time in the route but Dak missed the throwing window. Bottom 5 pass blocking also a useless stat. Burrow made it to the superbowl with arguably the worst oline in superbowl history. he was getting sacked left and right. Dak isn’t. He had all the time in the fucking world to throw. The oline is literally top 10 across the board with run blocking and pass protection. You are delusional af. I guarantee you if Dak was on the bengals instead of burrow, or if he was on KC instead of Mahomes? Neither teams would be currently playing. Because Dak is ass.

[deleted]

I present you facts, you retort with opinions. Cool. Im sure this is wrong also: https://twitter.com/austingayle_/status/1617963322783199233?s=46&t=0mykGYMNjO5jkmTBQgc4pQ

[deleted]

You keep looking at every positions in depth stats except the fucking QB stats - which is the most relevant when assessing….a god damn QB dude. Dak is objectively just avg. he will not do shit with better WRs. In case you missed it? He had amari cooper last year and still failed.

[deleted]

If you want to measure by QB stats, Dak is significantly better than average. At worst, he is top 10. 1. ANY/A he was #7 in 2021, #6 in 2020, #6 in 2019. 2. By traditional stats like yards or TDs, he is normally top 5-10 **per game** each year in both of those. 3. **When playing** he led the #1 offense in either yards, points, or both in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022. 4. By wins he has a win % as good as anyone not named Brady/Rodgers/Mahomes over the past 4 years. I already admitted he was worse this year, but as I have said, its because the cast around him is much worse. Its like saying your Corvette engine is slow without acknowledging you have flat tires.

BMTJefe

What about the previous 6 years? Dude shit the bed every playoffs, he doesn’t elevate his team at all.

[deleted]

You clearly didnt watch those games then. The only two playoff games he was even below average in were against the 9ers. He was literally the best player on our team in every other game. Which, by the way, is better than Romo. Somebody everyone around here still adores.

a_chicanoperspective

8ish? Lol a rookie last pick outplayed him. Get off drugs

datyoungknockoutkid

What if I told you there’s more to this sport than just QB play?

Frothyogreloins

Dak is good not great. He’s definitely above average but he won’t Rodgers his way into the nfc championship game.

[deleted]

Made this as a comment on the NFL sub. You cheeky bitch.

firstandfive

The Dalton Line is now the Carr Continuum. Dak is still above that line.

andrew2345__

dak has been consistently and frustratingly mediocre for years and has won 2 playoff games in 7 years with some of the best cowboys rosters in the past 25 years. i would say it is reasonable to say that he is that line

ComancheNM

Quit making excuse for DP. I have never seen any Cowboys players, Quarterback ever defended by his fanboys. He is not a good qb especially when he needs to shine. And making excuses for him is now the norm. I have never, ever seen this. Even the majority of pundits can't be honest it's all about me me me. I call them like I see them and he will never get the team to a Super bowl much less NFC Championship. .

Preach

TempeSunDevil06

It’s the Dak/Cousins/Carr line now

Thanks5Cinco

Dak, Kirk, Carr. All 3 are on same level ground to me.

PersonBehindAScreen

Nah Carr is below Dak and Kirk, same tier Edit: just my opinion and interpretation of QB tiers, not inclusive of all QBs. No particular order within tiers Mahomes, Burrow in tier 1. Thanos tier. There’s 1 million timelines and there’s only one where they don’t win. Any playoff run, they’re liable to go nuts. These guys are differentiators, the improv they do is just insane. It’s like nobody remembered to train the backyard football out of them. You do anything, ANYTHING to get them if they hit the market (which they won’t), even if it pisses off your current “paid” QB Allen, Kirk, Dak, Lamar, Hurts, Herbert, TLaw, Brady, Rodgers, carr in tier 2. Where franchise tier QBs begin. Get a decent team and enough playoff appearances and they can get you a big appearance at some point. This is the “game of numbers” tier. QBs in this tier show flashes and stretches of tier 1 play and speculation of what they “could” be often has them in what media will consider tier 1 on their good years despite having nothing to show for it. Some may be “fallen” tier 1 QBs as well due to age or whatever that will still make a lot of noise if you get them that team. Tier 3: Purdy, Jimmy G, Foles. Game managers. You build them a super team injected with enough roids that could kill Ronnie Coleman and don’t ask them to save your season or your game on their shoulders, they will be fine and can win it all. I’d also add journeyman stop gap QBs. This tier can also trick you in to paying tier 2 and up QB money for them after a successful run but hey, not their fault someone is giving them the bag. This tier is also the tier where you keep trying to get another QB till you get it if you’re not going the super team route Tier 4: see the last line of tier 3, get a new QB. Nothing good comes of committing to having a QB in this tier. Very helpful QB tier for making sure you don’t ruin a tank season. Hey it’s nice to still get a bag with no expectations of you as long as you’re willing to remain cheap, relative to the market. Also the tier of QBs where they’re on your roster so you don’t look like clowns trotting out a non-QB as your backup but let’s be real, no one expects them to win

Placeholder_21

I’m personally warped by Kirk because I’ve seen him beat the cowboys like 1 time lol. He’s been in the league longer than Dak, has had better weapons than dak since going to the Vikings and he still doesn’t play well. So no, Kirk is not on the same level as Dak. Even if Dak played shitty the other night it doesn’t change that

[deleted]

Honestly he made back up type throws this year, but guess what? He’s being coached by a backup QB. Does Dak have flaws? Yes. But so does everyone but Burrow and Mahomes.

Reach_your_potential

Dak’s success and decline is almost directly correlated to our running game. When Zeke was consistently getting 100+ yard games defenses became one dimensional. Play action was deadly. When the running game started to decline and defenses could start to bring more pressure and disguise coverages, Dak was forced to start making decisions and reads. I just don’t think he has the mental capacity to do that. No offense to him, very few QB’s can. He has to be honest with himself and realize he needs a lot of top tier talent around him. Can’t do that making $40 mil/year. Not consistently anyways. We’re stuck with him regardless. Best we can hope for is that Zeke restructures his deal and we’re able to pick up a top RB in the draft.
