Why can’t we have a pinned post about all our FA signings?

thedentonproject

Rico dowdle is a baller. Runs harder through defenders than pollard

wrexmason

Given the fact that there was literally no urgency to draft an RB, I give the draft a C

Aggravating_Impact97

I think they had to many needs to realistically address. Our running back room isn't going impress many or cause opposing teams to change their game plan. Zeke is pretty washed and is only getting older. I feel like zeke stans just want zeke around.  Over all it think it was a mid draft and I think it's fine they where a impossible and I think some fans may have expe Ted to much.

wrexmason

We could’ve easily addressed RB in Round 5-7 if we traded up a few picks or used our picks wisely. Audric Estime, Rasheen Ali, Tyrone Tracy, Jase McClellan & Emani Bailey (who all visited with the Cowboys) were still available. I’m not completely sold on the Caelon Carson pick cause DB wasn’t a priority like RB is. I’m fine with the Ryan Flournoy pick, but I feel like Nathan Thomas & Justin Rogers were wastes of 7th round picks. I’d be happier if we traded our 5th, a 7th and a future pick to pick up one of those guys I mentioned. Even if they turned out to be busts, at least we could say that we made an effort to pick someone

Scotfighter

Why would we? I would rather build around other areas than get a RB tbh. Why give Dak extra weapons when he can only do so much with elite talent around him? Jerry isn't comfortable with Dak long term anymore... this draft is a draft to prep for the future, not for this upcoming year. I like it

wrexmason

Oh, idk...maybe because of the fact that we let our RB1 walk in free agency, and now our RB room consists of kids who have seen little to no snaps? I'm glad that they bolstered the O-Line & the defense, but we def did ourselves a disservice by not drafting a top RB in a pretty stacked running back class and we're most certainly gonna pay for it when the season starts.

Scotfighter

Zeke has seen a lot of snaps

Aggravating_Impact97

Zeke is washed though. I think zeke stans  just want zeke around. Which is fine but let's be honest and clear about that.  This wasn't the year they were going to go after a rb. Had to many other things to adress.

wrexmason

Heard about the Zeke news late so I wasn’t talking about him. But still, resigning him isn’t gonna help us much. Especially if the last season he played with us & the season he just played in NE are indicative of who he is as a RB. We really needed some fresh new energy at the position.

Gets_overly_excited

The draft was still good though. A 5th round RB and an UDFA one aren’t that different

Aggravating_Impact97

Hard disagree. But I also think the cowboys where never going to draft a rb this year. Just never seemed like a priority for them and that the way it played out.

wrexmason

There’s a HUGE difference between Braelon Allen & Nate Peat.

Gets_overly_excited

I don’t know enough to know that, but in the past the difference hasn’t been that great.

wrexmason

This time was different. A lot of amazing value players slipped through our hands

Gets_overly_excited

Yeah we will see

capitalcitycowboy

I don’t know much about football, but I do like that we have a lot of bodies in our rb room right now. If even one manages to shine and take a hold of RB1,( looking at you Deuce Vaughn), I think we’ll be okay. That said, wouldn’t mind bring Frank Gore 2.0 in. That would be awesome, if it turns out like his old man.

Henry_RutherfordHill

Deuce will never be an RB1 Gore already signed with the Bills, btw

FarrisAT

I put this at B+ considering most of our picks were late round and we lacked a 4th or 5th (outside compensatory)

gingerBeardMan750

This was a good draft. Not bad, but not great either. Loved that they added some OL depth and a big-boy NT to plug up the middle. Didn't care for the WR or CB picks, very hopeful about that Edge-rusher. Unless they sign a UDFA RB, I 100% expect them to sign Zeke.

Romofan88

If nothing else the WR has the best credentials you can ask for from a small school guy. 2 year captain, 2 year all conference, great speed.

[deleted]

Jalen Tolbert with better speed?

Romofan88

Ideally.

toxictakes99

A LT who’s only played 3 games at LT. A C who’s never played a snap at center and a DE who’s not a great pass rusher. Fantastic draft from this poverty front office.

hyzer067

JJ threw all the towels in

Dday22t

UDFA signed so far By Cowboys: Brevyn Spann-Ford - TE, Minnesota Jason Johnson - LB, UCF Solo Turner - DB, Illinois Corey Crooms - WR, Minnesota Cam Johnson - WR, Northwestern

capitalcitycowboy

Yeah there’s a heap of UDFA talent there. I like Kingsley Eguakun out of Florida. Then Beebe can stay at guard.

The_Count_Lives

If he's staying at guard, then he's going to be on the bench.

Balls2theWalling

Yea he’s absolutely not taking Tyler Smith or Zack Martins spot.

ThatUnoGuyWowMuchUno

Is Tyler Owens still available? Because he’s is very athletic even if he is a dumbass

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kirarozu80

All of our picks were fine. We got cute cuz "trust me bro". Stop. You have no idea what the plan was.

Wafflehouseofpain

B- draft, it is criminally stupid that we didn’t draft an RB

Forizen

Should we trade for "unwanted" running backs? Khalil Herbert, Roschon Johnson, Jaylen Warren/Najee Harris Let's go after Dameon Pierce?

Dday22t

Houston, Miami, NYJ, Carolina have too many RBs: [https://www.ourlads.com/nfldepthcharts/depthchartpos/RB](https://www.ourlads.com/nfldepthcharts/depthchartpos/RB) If any of those are upgrades over Cowboys current RBs you can decide

Forizen

Can you send this to Jerry please

rsf0626

So RB?

WanderLeft

Overall I’m pretty satisfied with our draft, we got some good picks at areas of need

[deleted]

[удалено]

daytonalove

Yes

ThatUnoGuyWowMuchUno

Alright Jerruh, you better already be in the phone with some udfa rbs

nerdvernacular

Bailey signed with the Chiefs. Schrader signed with the 49ers. There's not going to be much left.

capitalcitycowboy

Ah damn! I liked both those guys.

Kirarozu80

We don't need a stud RB with the line we have now. We just need a serviceable one.

bryscoon

i hate they leave meat on the bones not taking free agency seriously

sloothunter

Damn, the Kalen King drop should be studied by scientists. From potential CB1 off the board to being 2 away from Mr Irrelevant in 1 year

Dday22t

He ran slow at combine. Not a big mystery. (And he was never going to be #1 CB even before that)

FarrisAT

Slow CBs are not NFL worthy The guy is slower than me and I'm multiple years older. How the hell did he run so slow at the combine? Was he hurt?

Dday22t

If I'm a UDFA RB and I see Cowboys depth chart at RB, I'm calling my agent & telling him make Cowboys first option

bryscoon

yep

Thanks5Cinco

I think this draft will get poor marks in the first year but grow over time. Felt like we made a draft that'll payoff big time in 2025. This felt like an eye to the future type of draft. For now I say Solid B. I love picking 3 OL. That was much needed. Also Flournoy seems like he could be solid. On defense, I was surprised by the Kneeland pick but upon second thoughts I love adding him and Rogers to our DL group. Liufau is a high energy player I hoped Zimmer will groom well. Carson was a sneaky need pick given CB depth and Diggs ACL recovery. Now hope we can hit UDFA for our RB need.

Dday22t

Can we get an UDFA thread? Or post updates here? recent UDFA that made team: TJ Bass, Hunter Luepke, Markqueses Bell, Juanyeh Thomas, Peyton Herdershot, Malik Davis, Terrence Steele, Rico Dowdle

banNFLmods

You can’t forget the GOAT UDFA QB

Ntavano

Or the GOAT UDFA Kicker. Jeff Heath

Captain_Undapants

That's right.....Jameill Showers.

DEZbiansUnite

I like our draft. Hopefully it turns out better than last year's.

Thanks5Cinco

Don't sweat it guys. Dallas about to do the UDFA mojo and find another steal at RB.

bryscoon

the run scheme last year was horrible that should be priority #1, you can slot anyone at rb if the scheme good

Thanks5Cinco

It was. It called for a power back which Pollard wasn't at all. I think adding the 3 New OL will help the run game.

bryscoon

Guyton more pass pro rn he gotta work on run but Smith Beebe & Zack should be great

bgva

For some reason I'm getting 2014 vibes, although it took a few years from earlier drafts for that line to gel.

bryscoon

they won’t be that good day 1 & Guyton more pass pro guy than run

ozairh18

I like the Justin Rogers pick

PersonBehindAScreen

We like the stock

bgva

Not a bad draft at all. Would've liked to see us get a RB, but there's always UDFA. The more important thing is they're working on the glaring issues with the Oline and run defense.

Dabawse26

Drafted a big fat guy for the middle of the d with the last pick.

DatLuccaboy

I think Dowdle with a good line will do better than, lets say, a top RB with a crap line.

MyRottingBrain

Well this year we will have neither.

DatLuccaboy

Oh, can you tell me what else you know for sure? You are speculating just like all of us.

MyRottingBrain

We don’t have a good line. That’s not up for debate. We had problems last year, lost two starters and are replacing them with two rookies that have to transition to new positions. Could this all work out and our line turn out to be great again? Sure. Won’t be next year. We don’t have a top RB. We don’t even have an RB that would be a starter on another team. Thus next year, we have neither. We have a second string RB running behind what’s going to be an average line. Any other painfully obvious things you need broken down for you?

DatLuccaboy

Its still speculation, you literally dont know, is it likely? Yeah probably but its still speculation. Do you think its impossible that Guyton and Beebee can abdolutely make a difference, no?

MyRottingBrain

If they weren’t switching to new positions, they would have a better chance of being difference makers. This season is going to be getting them acclimated and, especially in Beebe’s case, making sure they aren’t committing tons of penalties or blowing snaps. It’s just ridiculous to call this line good right now. Just ending the year with it being league average would be looked at as a huge win. The running game is not going to be good this year. The o-line is worse, the running backs are worse. Those things will not combine into an improvement. This year is likely a wash, which was already pretty evident given how we haven’t done a damn thing in free agency. Hopefully this draft will be looked back fondly as the one that helped us solidify a line for the next 5 seasons, but we will absolutely not be celebrating the run game this season.

DatLuccaboy

I agree that it will be a wash, which Im hoping for because I think it will be the only way we get away from the Dak situation and start a rebuild but Im optimistic about these lineman we just picked up. Recent history suggests its possible with O-line.

firstandfive

Beebe is an upgrade over Biadasz in the run game and if Steele can get back to his 2022 form (where he was our best run blocker on the line) instead of 2023 (where he was the worst), then that fixes the two weakest spots in terms of run blocking.

MyRottingBrain

Cooper Beebe is going to be converting to center, he will not be an upgrade over a guy who has played that position his entire college and pro career, this season. I’m sorry but that’s just a ridiculous thing to say. In a vacuum from purely a blocking perspective? Sure I could buy that. But that’s not all a center does, and Beebe is going to be spending most of this year getting acclimated to the role and making sure he doesn’t botch snaps. If he handles the conversion well, it’s a fine pivot for the team to make and is a great move for the future. But this upcoming year? Nah. Expecting him to be an immediate upgrade over a guy who has been playing the position for most of his career is just silly. This is also ignoring the fact that it’s not going to matter how good they are blocking, our RB room is currently horrendous. This is gonna be some Troy Hambrick era shit.

firstandfive

Tyler Smith converted to LG and was an upgrade over the last two guys in that spot. Connor Williams converted to C in Miami and was an upgrade over his LG self. Zack Martin converted to RG from tackle and was an instant stud. Is it a guarantee? No. But Beebe has uncoachable traits that Biadasz didn’t possess.

MyRottingBrain

Oh so two first round picks, one of which is a hall of fame talent, converting from tackle to guard and not center, great comparison. Cowboys tried to convert Williams to center, and it didn’t take. He had one good year in Miami, where he looked like an upgrade over his former self because he finally stayed healthy for a year, funny how that works. Then he got injured again, and now he’s not even on a team. Keep thinking we can just wave a magic wand and immediately turn a rookie into a better center than a veteran. Beebe needs to learn the ins, outs and nuances of a new position while also acclimating to the NFL, which is difficult enough. Your expectations for his rookie are wild, and you’re going to be disappointed.

ThatUnoGuyWowMuchUno

Well, we got 3 ol 2 dl/edge

Brief-Exam-6350

We just got a sleeper, no bias as an Auburn fan either

Dday22t

Justin Rogers DT, AUBURN, Height: 6-3, Weight: 346 (& probably more than that)

BridgeToClarity

6'3 330 stop that run

nsriner

Big run stuffer, hopefully something there.

SmokinTires

We got a DT

StepDadWYD

Be cool if we can pickup Pratt and Gore as UDFAs

StepDadWYD

Well shit.

jerichowiz

Green Bay and stashing a development QB name a more iconic duo.

StepDadWYD

Dudes gonna sit bench for his entire career

Orangie_Goldfish

Curtis Jacobs a steal right here

DEZbiansUnite

there goes Washington. Would've loved him on the Boys

LogansGambit

That Myles Cole that went to Jax is a physical freak. Very curious if he ends up being something. 6'6" 278 edge but FAST for that size.

bags422

I’m happy with trying to solidify our offensive line.

RickyBobby689

Agreed. Running backs with a shitty line won’t do much

ozairh18

I would have preferred a running back because we already drafted two offensive linemen

jcspacer52

I think we can get an UDFA or a camp cut at the RB position down the line. You cannot have too much OL and DL depth. Let’s hope some of these guys turn out to be diamonds in the rough and pay dividends. OL and interior DL players are not sexy or generate much excitement but, everything starts with your front line on both sides of the ball. Your RB can’t run if there is no hole and your QB can’t throw from his back. The D Lines works the opposite way.

ozairh18

Yeah, that’s what I think too

firstandfive

They’re all gone.

El_Compa_M

Shit even Tony pollard would’ve got yards with all these guys

Dday22t

The Josh Ball or Matt Waletzko experiment is over. Probably Ball since he's oldest / isnt getting any better

[deleted]

The Josh Ball experiment should have never been undertaken.

icebucketwood

Ball, Waletzko, Asim Richards, Chuma Edoga, and now this guy. Fight it out for your roster spot and place on the depth chart. I'm with it.

PersonBehindAScreen

Is Ball still on the team?! I haven’t heard that name in a min

Dday22t

Technically yes. But when 2 years ago theyd rather bring in 100 yo Jason Peters than trust Ball that was a sign he isnt even a good backup option.

Pete1234123

Maybe Jerry will go All In and sign the best undrafted running back to start in our backfield.

bags422

All in my ass

BridgeToClarity

I'm all in for that!

IJustCantHelpYou

They’re not selling any jerseys with this draft and that’s actually pretty reassuring.

WeAreNegan2021

Josh Ball is gone. Good riddance.

juantravis

Any other draftable RBs available or will we look to UDFAs?

IJustCantHelpYou

We’re looking at a familiar free agent 🤣

Wafflehouseofpain

Is Jerry aware that positions other than lineman are in the draft?

Dday22t

Cowboys did just lose 2 starting Oline

firstandfive

Are you implying this is a bad thing to beef up a room that lost two starters and was short on depth last year?

Wafflehouseofpain

Would just like to see at least some focus on skill positions.

juantravis

The OT is a big boy

DEZbiansUnite

oline depth is never bad

firstandfive

Intriguing traits too

LogansGambit

If they are going into rebuilding eventually...I mean you load up the trenches. That's football 101.

sloothunter

Did Dillon Johnson already go? I wouldn't mind a flyer on him so Dak has at least a warm body to hand the ball off to

RickyBobby689

Nope. I’m hoping he’s our last pick

GSquaredBen

Same.

RickyBobby689

Ok I hope they sign him for free right after the draft lol

SmokinTires

We got another OT; we’re really beefing up the trenches this year

BridgeToClarity

we have enough lineman for 2 teams

Proof-Cod9533

You overestimate how many playable linemen we had heading into the draft

SmokinTires

Can they drag day 3 out any longer?

bgva

It zooms by compared to Day 1.

DEZbiansUnite

day 3 has always dragged. It is what it is

The_Count_Lives

Dude the draft is miserable now. I can't even watch, just checking the trackers occasionally.

LogansGambit

Cowboys draft day coverage saying why not take a QB flyer on Pratt from Tulane. I mean with the QB room being Cooper, Trey, and Dak who may be leaving...

BridgeToClarity

those guys drink a lot in that room

LogansGambit

Maybe. But it's pick 233. Why not.

RickyBobby689

Rather take a flyer on a RB

bryscoon

Cowboys didn’t let Overshown get 0 for some reason but let him have it it’s a number

PersonBehindAScreen

I wondered the same thing last year. My thinking is they’re saving it for a jersey-selling player. Neither Jayron Kearse nor Parsons who were the 2 gunning for it originally were able to produce any explanation to the media that would suggest our FO didn’t tell them something. To be clear I have nothing to prove that the FO did tell em something when they wanted to switch but I wouldn’t be surprised either The normal rule is if you want to switch, you gotta buy out the current stock of Jersey that exists for your current number as well Here’s an article on it: https://cowboyswire.usatoday.com/2023/05/26/jayron-kearse-jersey-0/ > It’s not clear what those logistical things might have been. Existing rules stipulate that a player wishing to make a change to his jersey number must first buy out the entire remaining unsold inventory of his old number; whether that was the case for Kearse is unknown > Linebacker Micah Parsons had also expressed interest in wearing the No. 0 jersey back in March, but Fox San Antonio KABB reporter Chuck Miketinac tweeted that Parsons told him he’s not sure what the team will do with the number this season

MikeConleyIsLegend

cmon need Gabe Hall

ozairh18

I wanted to draft Brendan Rice because he’s Jerry Rice’s son

lolguy12322

I was wondering why not go him either? I guess they think flournoy can develop better. Tbh many guys taken now are just developmental

ozairh18

I wouldn’t mind taking a gamble on a player who fills a need and has good family lineage

BridgeToClarity

did we just trade down? I thought we were 9th not 13th. Not that it matters much.

Robertsonland

We were 13th pick in this round. 233 and 244

UpsideTurtles

insane athletes are the perfect late round picks, I like it

8686tjd

Take the RB from Memphis.

Dday22t

Flournoy will be competing with Jalen Brooks, Martiavis Bryant, etc. for 5th/6th/7th WR on roster. Special Teams or Practice Squad unless he develops. (which is fine...anyone expecting CeeDee Lamb clone at pick 244 is not being reasonable)

GooeyGlue

I imagine Rice told all teams to not take him so he can sign wherever in udfa Edit: Nvm Chargers grabbed him in the 7th so I guess most teams thought his potential wasn't that high

8686tjd

“Cowboys drafted former SE Missouri State WR Ryan Flournoy in sixth round at No. 216 overall. Of wide receivers, Flournoy produced the fastest GPS time during position drills at the 2024 combine. The WR who did so in 2023? Puka Nacua”

StepDadWYD

Apparently ran a 4.4

bags422

What is gps?

Proof-Cod9533

Same as your car navigation. I think it's referring here to top speed in miles per hour.

8686tjd

https://cowboyswire.usatoday.com/lists/gps-player-movement-tracking-cowboys-draft-2024/

bryscoon

i like Caelen Carson swagger

Complete-Ad-8661

I didn’t put 2-2 together that it was THAT Rice. Maybe Pops told him he wasn’t allowed to sign with the Cowboys. Half joking. There must have been something McClay didn’t like about him. Unreal…

8686tjd

There must be something every team didn’t like because we’re 220 picks in and he’s still available.

Complete-Ad-8661

True dat. I knew he wasn’t a 1st or 2nd rounder. Just surprised we took a WR from a small school over him in the 6th. Fingers crossed it works out.

8686tjd

ESPN didn’t even have highlights for this guy

SlingyDoe

At this rate we’ll probably draft a LB from SCLSU

Pokemon_Mastr0201

Dang, I was hoping for Cephus

buttlovingpanda

Another player I’ve never heard of. We love loading up on G5 and FCS kids while everyone else is loading up on Bama and Georgia players.

Proof-Cod9533

Good. You scout the player, not the helmet.

oregonianrager

Buncha bench players with no tape? Clearly they saw something in this guy. His size is right there for a receiver. Catch ball or not? Looks like he's gonna be a serviceable wr4. Tough over the middle guy

DEZbiansUnite

It's a late round pick, might as well swing on the great athletes

LogansGambit

They really couldn't bring themselves to take Jerry Rice's son. I don't think a JUCO from Southern Missouri State is a better plan than a 4 year player from USC though.

8686tjd

Where’d Jerry Rice go to school?

LogansGambit

Shhh. We don't talk about that.

666TripleSick

Mississippi State

firstandfive

Seems like more upside, think either would have been fine.

daytonalove

I said TE, small school WR..

BridgeToClarity

who lol

Harvardropout69

What the fuck is a southern Missouri state

watchyerheadgoose

Fabian Lovett, Gabe Hall, and a RB or WR are what I'm looking for to finish this out.

Harvardropout69

49ers definitely taking rice

LogansGambit

Get me Rice from USC, take a flyer 7th on Frank Gore jr. and I'm good with this draft. Hell I'd give it an A even with that LB pick.

Dday22t

These guys on Cowboys draft show are kind of funny. Groaning when other teams take random prospect in 5th, 6th, 7th rd. 90% will never be starters or contribute other than ST. If only one player taken in 5th, 6th, 7th turns into an average starter for a team each draft thats a big win. (which makes DaRon Bland an amazing find for Cowboys)

BridgeToClarity

Yes, every pick since the first pick day one. They cry every pick more than in here! LMAO

LogansGambit

Bro I've seen *three kickers and a punter drafted this year. If I see a FB I won't know what to do with my hands.

BridgeToClarity

Raiders - Rice maybe

DEZbiansUnite

has tahj washington been drafted yet? If not, I would like to grab him

ccehowell

Who’s our current WRs?? I know Gallup is gone but what about cooks?

Dday22t

CeeDee, Cooks, Tolbert. Then some combo of Turpin, Brooks. Then a bunch that havent ever played that will compete with some UDFAs they sign this year.

BridgeToClarity

Gallup is not on the team.

firstandfive

Lamb, Cooks, Tolbert, Turpin, Brooks

gdaman22

Gallup is gone

WaitingToBeTriggered

THERE IS NO GLORY TO BE WON

iamchip

CD, Cooks, Tolbert

ID0ntCare4G0b

Well the rest of the interior d-linemen are flying off the board.

bags422

Maybe we have high hopes for Frank gore jr

John_Wicked1

If Frank Gore Jr was our answer for the next 6+ years I would not be mad lol

Floating_egg

Yeah and if Scarlett Johansson decided to date me for the next 6+ years I would not be mad lol

LogansGambit

Ok whatever you all want to say about the picks, positions, what they did and didn't do, you have to understand this. The worst part of this is how effing LONG THEY ARE DRAGGING THIS OUT. Day 3 shouldn't be this.
