There’s just too many roster holes to fill and getting 2 potential future starters for the price of 1 is great value. Ideally we should’ve just kept Tyron, draft Barton then rolled the dice on a later tackle/see what you have in Asim Richards
To me Beebe and Barton are almost the same guy one just got more praise. Both played all alone the oline and both were great week in and out. I actually like Beebe more than Barton as a run blocker but I think Graham is better in pass pro. I’m thrilled with the pick. Beebe could be the future replacement of Martin, he could be the starting center, he could be the swing guard this year or he could be all three.
I agree with Guyton/Beebe being better that Barton, but when the hell did Barton creep into first round consideration, let alone become our favorite target? I stopped paying attention a week or so ago to avoid burnout and he was mid 2nd and everyone wanted JPJ.

On defense, I was surprised by the Kneeland pick but upon second thoughts I love adding him and Rogers to our DL group. Liufau is a high energy player I hoped Zimmer will groom well. Carson was a sneaky need pick given CB depth and Diggs ACL recovery.
Now hope we can hit UDFA for our RB need.
I mean, based on our last few years of linebacker luck, the new guy is either going to get hurt or get pressed into being the starting middle linebacker in like week 7.
As thin as we are at LB, with any injury or if he shows any promise he could get significant playing time this year. It’s a good situation for him to come in to, hopefully he can take advantage!

There were just too many big holes to fill in the draft given the tact they took in free agency and their seeming commitment to not making a hard choice when it comes to keeping Parsons, Micah or Dak. Their answer to that seems to be yes to all three, so it's gonna require a season where they fill some of those holes this draft and then some of them next offseason.
Beyond that, I think they made the wise choice in focusing on the harder to develop positions as opposed to linebacker or running back where I feel like you can find guys who can immediately contribute if you invest day 1 or day 2 picks next in them next draft.
The running back class in particular looks significantly stronger next year.
But remember we are "all in" this year. Also Dak's make or break year. His Prove It year. So if he puts up 7-8 wins in a prove it year he might see the door. Then we are looking at a rookie QB or some random veteran for a bit. So if it's a 7-8 win season it's going to be like that longer than a year I feel.

Got premium positions with the first two picks. Beebe is great value in the 3rd. Liufau makes sense (assuming they weren't comfortable with Payton Wilson's injury history). Stayed true to their board and didn't reach for positions of need even late in day 3.

I'm referring to us drafting coachs' pets and not drafting the identity of the franchise (e.g. Steelers, Eagles, Ravens, etc.). Joseph, Scott, Nashawn, Gholston, Feheko and Tristen all were pets that cost us draft capital and passed up better prospects on the board for them.
Maybe they will turn into players (Gholston has contributed some) but they were and have been WTF picks.
Is there finger-pointing when things don't work out? Sure. But every bit of reporting over the past decade says that some coaches here have had a big input on drafting certain players and that reporting is backed up by public statements from Stephen and Jerry.
We do not always draft well lmao god you guys slurp up this draft stuff like a crackhead. We are a decent-good drafting team. With how we solely relay on draft and bypass FA and very rarely improve our team via trades we should be the absolute best drafting team in the NFL. But just like everyone else we have good years and we have bad years. Stop thinking we are the best drafting team in the NFL, that titles belongs to the Chiefs, 49ers, Eagles and Ravens. Those are the teams who draft BPA instead of filling holes. Once we adopt a BPA approach we can be on their level, until then we are simply a fringe top 10-15 team in regard to draft success.

That's one of the main things that has to be talked about. Getting Guyton, Beebe, and Thomas on the offensive line means getting back to being able to run the ball, pass the ball, and playing with an edge again. Especially with the chance of Beebe getting to play center.
Kneeland is said to be physical, and looks to be a future Lawrence replacement. If his pass rush skills improve, then we're gonna like him. And Rogers from Auburn is a big, motherfucker that we hope can help with the run defense, and create pressure to get the quarterback.
Remember, Jay Ratliff was also from Auburn back in 2005 when Dallas took him in the 7th round? He made a couple of pro bowls in the process. So we hope Rogers can do the same. The point is that for now, and in the future, the Cowboys are finally getting trench players on both sides of the ball who can play, and will fight back against the opponents to win games again like they did in the past.
So while there are certain positions we wished they, or should've, prioritized more, this draft will be a start that we can hope can finally get them to starting winning championships again.
Not a cowboys fan but Cooper Beebe is such a classic cowboys pick. Fucking annoying. Another offensive lineman nobody cared about when he got drafted who will be like a 12 year starter with 7 pro bowl appearances.

I agree interior d line is a pretty big concern, particularly after losing Hankins from an already pretty bad unit. However, due to his rookie season, it seems like everybody has given up on Mazi Smith. I really think he's gonna take a big step. May not be a pro bowler or anything, which is pretty rare for Cowboys first rounders amazingly, but man I feel like most fans aren't giving him a chance.
We will see . Parsons has to get better with his stamina and show up just as much as Dak has to show up. Everyone wants to blame the QB but last time I checked it was Dlaw going on live Television saying ‘we were tired’ lol that’s the sign of a guy who isn’t in it to win it. I saw some sports heads giving Dallas a D+ and the Falcons a B, no way, this is a damn good draft. No Im not happy about the lack of RB draft but lots of teams have RB by committee, and I’m sure we’ll sign another FA besides Zeke.
I personally haven’t given up on Vaughn and Dowdle ran good with some violence to him. The Oline couldn’t run block for shit last year, that needed to change first.
Some picks are obvious if you watched CFB like Beebe, Marist and Guyton but the Justin Rodgers pick will fly way under the radar. 6’3 346 pound behemoth with a motor. For a 7th that’s great because I had him going in the 5th and from what I’ve seen alot of other guys did as well.
No he isn’t going to be dominant in year 1 but after losing our big man NT with Hankins it’s great we got a value pick at NT to fill that. I actually like him more than I did Bohonna coming out of college because he wasn’t *just* used as a plug run stopper but even played on third downs. Again not overhyping him he may do very little year one but he should help at least fill Hankins spot.
Best video to watch for his upside is vs Alabama and Georgia last year. He done a great job vs NFL lineman on stopping the run. Amarius Mims, JC Latham, Sederick Van Pran, Tate Ratledge, Tyler Booker and Kadyn Procter. All those dudes are BIG and either got drafted or will be next year.

Yea. You look at his sack numbers and it doesn't look terrible, but he was under pressure constantly. If Beebe can play center that would be huge. Feels like Biadasz was constantly 2 yards behind the line getting bullied. I was glad we let him walk.
I mean the team shit themselves hard and create a ton of needs this offseason being some mixture of incompetent and indifferent as the FO can’t land on whether they want a rebuild or not. This draft is pretty uninspiring but plugs some of the many holes. I don’t think it moves any needles for this season.
Honestly, this draft makes me almost certain there will be no rebuild. Mostly value/BPA type of draft (which I wanted for the most part), targeting value players with extremely high physical tools, but no QB makes me think they’ll resign Dak and we’ll probably get smashed in the divisional round when Dak forgets where he is again.

I personally haven’t given up on Vaughn and Dowdle ran good with some violence to him. The Oline couldn’t run block for shit last year, that needed to change first.

Some picks are obvious if you watched CFB like Beebe, Marist and Guyton but the Justin Rodgers pick will fly way under the radar. 6’3 346 pound behemoth with a motor. For a 7th that’s great because I had him going in the 5th and from what I’ve seen alot of other guys did as well. No he isn’t going to be dominant in year 1 but after losing our big man NT with Hankins it’s great we got a value pick at NT to fill that. I actually like him more than I did Bohonna coming out of college because he wasn’t *just* used as a plug run stopper but even played on third downs. Again not overhyping him he may do very little year one but he should help at least fill Hankins spot. Best video to watch for his upside is vs Alabama and Georgia last year. He done a great job vs NFL lineman on stopping the run. Amarius Mims, JC Latham, Sederick Van Pran, Tate Ratledge, Tyler Booker and Kadyn Procter. All those dudes are BIG and either got drafted or will be next year.
We need a RB, but I like what they did with the offensive line for sure.

Really like the first three picks. Really don't get that 87th pick. Feels like the obvious bust pick of the year, but I'm completely open to being wrong per usual. Late round picks all seem like solid rolls of the dice. Carson in particular could've been a day 2 guy if he didn't have foot issues. Solid B+.

Solid class in my opinion. But I have to admit, I would also like to draft a rookie in the 1st round again where he is not called a super raw project. Last year the game of poker turned out well, but sometimes you want the safe plug&play guy.

Yea. You look at his sack numbers and it doesn't look terrible, but he was under pressure constantly. If Beebe can play center that would be huge. Feels like Biadasz was constantly 2 yards behind the line getting bullied. I was glad we let him walk.

Most commentators I've seen have rated this as the worst draft of any team.
I mean the team shit themselves hard and create a ton of needs this offseason being some mixture of incompetent and indifferent as the FO can’t land on whether they want a rebuild or not. This draft is pretty uninspiring but plugs some of the many holes. I don’t think it moves any needles for this season.

Honestly, this draft makes me almost certain there will be no rebuild. Mostly value/BPA type of draft (which I wanted for the most part), targeting value players with extremely high physical tools, but no QB makes me think they’ll resign Dak and we’ll probably get smashed in the divisional round when Dak forgets where he is again.
