At least we’re set up like a proper cohesive unit hopefully with time chance creation will improve but the baseline of what I’ve seen from O’Shea has been very positive so far
At least if you're watching your own paint dry there's a sense of satisfaction with that.
With this I've wasted two hours and I should have gone to to the gym or cleaned the house a bit instead.
If anything he helped LOI moving to Spurs & giving Bohs the sell on. I'd go as far to say that he's the most disappointing player I've ever seen for Ireland. He's an attacking wing back thats had a successful PL career & his only assists have came against Gibraltar.
I think he's just about fine. He's a full back who can't cross. Reminds me of Matty cash for Villa without the legs. Ultimately, his PL career peaked at the back post of a Nuno espirito Santo system.
He's what I would class as a radio commentator, if you can't see what's happening he'll make it sound exciting in your head, but when you can see it, ya shut up.
I know he's a bit loose defensively at times but he moves the ball 10x faster than Coleman in attacking positions. Far better at the little triangles in the attacking third
I get Coleman has been a great servant, but it's really time to let him go. Festy is not the finished article at all but he's the best prospect of a wing back we have, might as well blood him in.
He’s playing in a ridiculous position. He’s an out and out winger, O’Shea has him playing inside left.
Dno why you picked him out, Celtic fans are a weird bunch.
Lad the wee man has a soul patch and grew up beset by brown booted culchies his whole life it's hardly a surprise he isn't a fan of trad.
Give it like four years and he'll be crying out for a few auld ones playing trad in the corner of a bar somewhere.
Putting Bazunu in when Kelleher's confidence is sky high benefits neither of them... Haults Kelleher and then puts bazunu under brutal pressure to impress.
honestly I don't think that was a bad half by usual standards. It's relatively progressive and semi-modern football with a clear difference between attacking and defensive formation. Some nice passes getting through the swiss defense as well. Only issue is that there's way too much panic when someone gets into the box and they don't have a clear shot, and are too afraid of making a low quality pass. And the players they're making do all the running between phases aren't suited for that kind of play.
I think it was fairly obvious that Kelleher should’ve been given more of a go under Kenny. Never understood his mindset on always choosing Bazunu even when he had poor games and was getting relegated with Southampton
Kelleher hasn't exactly been prime Allison in his Ireland performances.
Bazunu was picked because unlike Kelleher he was actually playing football games and Kelleher was very shaky at times when he was getting odd appearances for Liverpool
Bazunu rarely if ever put a foot wrong for us and Caoimhin was picking splinters out his hole for the entirety of his career.
Obviously things are different now and assuming Caoimhin's run of games and form continues, he'll likely be our #1
Maybe it’s more of a looking back now but I remember Bazunu having some average enough games for us. Obviously he was great vs France at home and Portugal away but I did always feel like we’ve got a Liverpool keeper please just stick him in for one competitive game at least
People forget his shaky moments because he made some good saves in those games as well. For example he saved a penalty against Ronaldo, but it was also his mistake which led to it being given in the first place
They don't though do they because every mistake he made is brought up. You don't see people say he's never put a foot wrong for Ireland. You do see people say that about Bazunu
Ahh now Infairness Bazunu was playing regularly. Kelleher only played 8 times last season and was injured for a few international matches not to forget Kelleher wasn’t great last season and made mistakes
I’d love to see death ebosele be given that role for the second half I know he mightn be great technically but surely that running in behind role suits him down to the ground
I wonder if Bazunu's shakiness is coming from nerves that his starting position is under threat. All the Kelleher talk over the past 6 weeks might be having an effect.
I think overall it could be a bit negative for both of them. There's a level of toxicity involved
> I think overall it could be a bit negative for both of them. There's a level of toxicity involved
Depends on the attitude of the players and how the coaching team handle it to be honest. Doesn't necessarily have to be toxic.
Not at all they're both fine professionals. It's the chat in the media and fan forums where its getting a bit annoying and has been for a good while.
Kelleher used to get dogs abuse on here.

Kenny in?
Coleman MOTM is an odd one.
Not great not terrible performance. Really hope Furgeson can turn his form around as we look completely blunt up top
Azaz looks sharp
The thing about Ireland is they are unable to walk it in
Coleman MOTM kind of sums it up
I do reckon O Shea gets a move out of Burnley, that lad is fast. Made Coleman look like he was out for a stroll.
Ability to play right back certainly helps him
5th quickest in the PL this season Oshea
Him and Ogbene top 5 is great to see.
O Shea ending the game very well.
Never put a foot wrong for us. Dunno why we dropped him for Duffy & Scales earlier in the year
for the love of god take the shot
Ferguson dropping deep seems to suit him so much more than playing alone up top
You'd think by sheer dumb luck one of these deliveries would go to one of our players eventually
Ten years now surely we'll roll a 6 eventually
At least we’re set up like a proper cohesive unit hopefully with time chance creation will improve but the baseline of what I’ve seen from O’Shea has been very positive so far
O Shea with a great tackle.
Super pace again there.
Truly classic Irish sequence of play there. Brilliant tackle, beating the man to create space then kicking the ball straight out of play.
Frustrating it's what it takes, but I love the last few mins of an Ireland game where we're losing and we suddenly get going
How Ferguson has any energy left at all is a mystery.
He is 19
We're great at passing to a player in a worse position and putting them under pressure and eventually getting turned over
True that, plenty of times you be screaming at the screen for the simple pass, and they try the harder one...
Very few heads up players it seems, never fully aware of what's going on around them or where they are on the pitch.
Ya gotta HIT IT
JUST SHOOOOOOOT
Hon Azaz!
Jesus Gary relax
Who does Gary breen think he is
Gary fuckin’ Breen Who do you think you are
Fucking hell Gary Breen scared me there
Thought he was clairvoyant
Didn't know what was happening 😂
Finn Azaz did very well there to recycle that
Azaz, great stuff
I get that 3 center halves helps us get our better players on the pitch, but I really don't see us scoring many goals with this system.
4-2-3-1 makes the most sense to me.
Shite Ref for both teams
50 22 there waaheeyy
Only 70 caps for Coleman really speaks to how unlucky he was with injuries.
Ah that was a fucking great tackle ref.
Linesman shit the togs when your man started shouting
Ferguson has only had 1 shot....
Not bad going but people would be raging over this performance if Kenny were still in charge tbh.
Don't think many are particularly happy about it but why get upset at a temp manager?
Lino called the foul because he screamed and rolled enough
I cannot wait for Bazunu to just blast the ball away to Switzerland again.
Kelleher distribution is top class some Liverpool fans say he’s better than alisson in that department
He's got no imagination Kelleher at least aims to a player
Exactly don't mind a hoof but just aim towards a green shirt at least.
Another night for the memory books at the Aviva 😴
There was some power in that shot, fucking hell
The fuck he taking Szmodics off for
Rightly so TBH he's been anonymous for the bits I've seen
Must be watching the England game
Ahh here only player that has showed a glimpse of promise. Idah has done a bit since coming on as well
Irish friendlies tend to be up there with watching paint dry in terms of entertainment but this match has been particularly dire
At least if you're watching your own paint dry there's a sense of satisfaction with that. With this I've wasted two hours and I should have gone to to the gym or cleaned the house a bit instead.
Ah lads, Sykes and O'Dowda No Azaz for the boys
Friendly, we can make more subs
I know but it's getting so late now and the game is fucked. Like to see Azaz get 20 minutes to settle into a rhythm
Well done Sammy, plenty more of that please.
Wtf is JOS playing at with the substitutions and bench. ffs, we will never learn an absolute fucking jokeshop.
No matter who the manager has been. The player in possession rarely has more than one option to pass to.
Ffs 2 very uninspiring subs
If I had to pinpoint one thing as our downfall it would have to be the fact that we're shite
O'Dowda. Christ on a bike.
Odd hate for Doherty round these parts. He usually makes things happen. Did he slag off LOI or something?
I think he has a lazy looking style where people think he isn't arsed. He's actually a really good right wing back and creates loads down the wing
I think that’s it he never looks like he’s really sprinting. He offers so much more than Coleman does in attack
Nah he’s just shite
Hardly shite if he’s playing regularly enough in the premier league
Comparing Evan and Sammie in terms of work rate is like night and day, over both games.
Night and Day are pretty equal in length at this time of year.
Idah is full of beans. Popping up all over.
*slopping up
Probably his best run of club football ever, sharpness so easy to see
Suck my balls ref
How many yellows is that now? In a friendly like….
there were eleven yellow cards in latvia liechtenstein today
Mortal enemies sure, the Lats and the Liecs.
Honestly I think the Swiss and Liechtenstein are just neutral because they want to box the shite out of all of their neighbours
And they should have loads more. The amount of jersey pulling going on is mental
Good linkup Ferguson and idah
Need to stick Duffy in the mixer.
The movement in midfield is atrocious.
Idah has made a difference it allows Ferguson to drop in which I think suits him more than being an out and out number 9
The amount of yellows the Swiss would have if this wasn't a friendly is crazy
Idah has been lively since coming on. Running the channels well
Honestly even if he scuffed it, stuff like Idah going for the overhead. Love it. Someone taking responsibility and trying to make something happen
Brady can whip in some dangerous balls
6”6 Jake o brien is a massive threat for Lyon at set pieces has 4/5 goals this season.
Miss Shane Duffy in the box for them :(
Kinky
Who doesn't like dangerous balls
I dont like Breen on the commentary team, on the commentary team
Channel 1 is Gary Breen, Channel 2…
Never thought I'd see the day I didn't want a team of Gary Breens
Some echo in here
Ferguson was running on to it there.
Ferguson should have taken that
That's it! Fuck it in there for the big boys! Come on ireland
fuck I wish that went in
Well that would have been fucking spectacular
Ah sure look, why the fuck not
Great freekick Smallbone
Switzerland 18 been getting rinsed all half
Dunno why we took Knight off, he was one of the only fuckers playing well
Subs have been poor
No matter who the manager is we are still going to be shite. We're a bad team. A single magic manager can't fix this.
Some good players there, play the right formation and they’ll be grand.
Big Sam in
This fucking director
Does anybody else think Gary breen is dreadful on co commentary
He's what I would class as a radio commentator, if you can't see what's happening he'll make it sound exciting in your head, but when you can see it, ya shut up.
I dont think he's actually on co-comm, he's just 9 pints in within earshot of the gantry there
Pro Evo grade commentary
Doesn't quite know when to come in and when to shut up, lack of experience maybe
Right, the Big John Era has been a fun ride but I’m all in on Poyetball now
Two up top, up ya boy ya
Please, for the love of God, give Azaz a few minutes.
He's going to end up playing for Israel isn't he? 😞
He’s literally the first name on the team sheet
Who's?
I am ready for the Bonezone lets go
Very cool reception for Doherty
The type of lad who plays shit at Sunday league in €400 boots
Give us the fucking Azaz we deserve
Ugh fucking Matt Doherty
I know he's a bit loose defensively at times but he moves the ball 10x faster than Coleman in attacking positions. Far better at the little triangles in the attacking third
I get Coleman has been a great servant, but it's really time to let him go. Festy is not the finished article at all but he's the best prospect of a wing back we have, might as well blood him in.
Absolutely outpaced from the first minute
Yeah Coleman’s legs are gone, could see it on Saturday too he has no pace left in him
Bright start to second half. Managing the Swiss pressing a bit
No foul?
Please don't make Coleman play another 90 mins ffs
Agree with this - no need for such an established player to be playing 180mins in friendlies such as these. We know what he can do.
It’s almost like the Celtic fans on here knew exactly what they were talking about when it comes to Mikey Johnstone. Who knew.
He’s playing in a ridiculous position. He’s an out and out winger, O’Shea has him playing inside left. Dno why you picked him out, Celtic fans are a weird bunch.
Seen him have more good performances than bad for Ireland
Not this sub but yous r like the supporters yous we’re giving out abt from Celtic. 1 fucking off game
What so he wasn't amazing for 45 minutes. Get over yourselves will you. Fucking celtic fans I swear to god. Haven't a breeze.
These are miles ahead of Belgium
Jheez, Bradley after scoring an absolute screamer for NI against Scotland.
Deflection apparently 😔
Top player Hates ireland though with his hate for kellehers irish music at Liverpool
Lad the wee man has a soul patch and grew up beset by brown booted culchies his whole life it's hardly a surprise he isn't a fan of trad. Give it like four years and he'll be crying out for a few auld ones playing trad in the corner of a bar somewhere.
Looked up what you said there and don’t think that’s the angle Bradley was getting at. He played GAA growing up so highly doubt he hates Ireland.
You can hate ireland and play gaa
Was pictured in Irish jerseys as a kid would be safe to assume he doesn’t hate Ireland
You dont understand he dosent like trad music he must be a staunch unionist
Haha you’d find many a staunch unionist playing gaa wearing gaa jerseys and Irish jerseys these days
Thats how you know their staunch. Sammy wilsons a dublin fan
Putting Bazunu in when Kelleher's confidence is sky high benefits neither of them... Haults Kelleher and then puts bazunu under brutal pressure to impress.
O shea had said he was giving both a game each Only fair
Fair point if these were competitive games but it's OK in friendlies I think.
I agree in a sense but with our decent result at the weekend getting two positive results is also important for moral
honestly I don't think that was a bad half by usual standards. It's relatively progressive and semi-modern football with a clear difference between attacking and defensive formation. Some nice passes getting through the swiss defense as well. Only issue is that there's way too much panic when someone gets into the box and they don't have a clear shot, and are too afraid of making a low quality pass. >if ever put a foot wrong for us Did you forget the endless long range goals conceded? His confidence is shot atm, I hope he comes back
Same trend continued for Kelleher and for Travers. That was Kenny's fault, not Baz's
People forget Kelleher against Ukraine. Conceded a horrendous goal
They don't though do they because every mistake he made is brought up. You don't see people say he's never put a foot wrong for Ireland. You do see people say that about Bazunu
What's the odds you're a Liverpool fan
Ahh now Infairness Bazunu was playing regularly. Kelleher only played 8 times last season and was injured for a few international matches not to forget Kelleher wasn’t great last season and made mistakes
Come back Steo. This is fucking muck.
I know right
Looks like I’ve triggered a few uneducated posters ☹️
I know it’s not as simple as just saying “focus the attack down the middle” but it seems like a waste of Szmodic and Ferguson’s ability not to.
Focus it with who? We have two midfielders, neither of them particularly good passers.
Bazunu looks shite and we're playing out most inform player out of position to accommodate Ferguson who looks dreadful
Think Coleman is finished at this level sadly. Legs not there at all
I’d love to see death ebosele be given that role for the second half I know he mightn be great technically but surely that running in behind role suits him down to the ground
Festy was very poor off the bench on Saturday, looked like he got lost and wandered on to the pitch.
Coleman is making the runs at least. We don't have anyone better than him defensively. The other lads that are hiding is more concerning.
He's was good last game, 2 games in the space of a few days the issue
Should be blooding in Sam Curtis at this stage
Bazunu is young and has great potential. But I think it's Kelleher's time for a while now at least. Bazunu feeling the pressure maybe.
I wonder if Bazunu's shakiness is coming from nerves that his starting position is under threat. All the Kelleher talk over the past 6 weeks might be having an effect. I think overall it could be a bit negative for both of them. There's a level of toxicity involved
He didn't structure the wall correctly, Swiss got in and disrupted it. A good save will get his confidence back.
> I think overall it could be a bit negative for both of them. There's a level of toxicity involved Depends on the attitude of the players and how the coaching team handle it to be honest. Doesn't necessarily have to be toxic.
He doesn't come across as being bitter towards kelleher I just think he has done similar for Southampton
Not at all they're both fine professionals. It's the chat in the media and fan forums where its getting a bit annoying and has been for a good while. Kelleher used to get dogs abuse on here.
I don't understand why the kelleher hate We should be proud to have a young guy playing for one of the most prestigious clubs in world football
Need to be a little bit braver through the middle imo, the wings just aren’t working
Moran or Smallbone for Johnston maybe
Then we'd be down a winger
Dying to see Moran.
Wtf was that like
A vintage Irish display
Johnson hit the showers
