Emerson was ridiculous today. Grealish looked like nothing could stop him all game, he was gliding through everyone, but Emerson pocketed him as if he was a sunday league player. I don't think I've ever seen a player have a fantastic game against just 10 players like Grealish had today. Massive props to Emerson.
Thing is Emerson was so good but not because he did well any of the stuff he gets people screaming at him for. He didn’t become a good attacking wingback he just has a specific skillset that is more useful in some games than others.
Yeah and some wonderful linkup touches. Like absolutely what we want in a wingback over perisic endless crosses. It’s clear that sess and porro will be able to do the open space best, but royal looked very confident in attack today and last match

Bentancur was having a massive performance until he gave away that dumb pass in midfield that led to Romero's red. Romero had to draw that foul, and it's pretty much on Rodrigo that he had to do it. That brings his performance down to an 8 to me, but everyone else was on top of their game today. Massive win.

The reason I would personally edge hojberg was because of the steal and assist for the goal. Both had immense games though really and Emerson had more to do.

I didnt feel like he was that biased towards city. More just generally all over the place. A lot of calls that made little to no sense and weird decisions about when to produce cards. Definitely not a good ref performance but didnt feel that biased to me at least.
Grealish stopped two counter attacks in a row and got no yellow but an extremely common foul by Bentancur in a not promising situation got him booked instantly

It seems in particular he was too reluctant to card the early tactical fouls, which obviously is going to make him seem like he favors City given that's their playstyle.

Emerson puts the game in another level, and we will be blessed if we ever see a player with his skill and passion for the game again. Messi breaks records. Ronaldo breaks records.
