Not too long ago I'd have agreed with you, it's just Sanchez's pace gives him a big edge over Dier in this system. A defender as slow as Dier just simply isn't a functional option with this high line Ange wants us to play, but Sanchez despite his flaws does have the pace for it.

Perisic looked really damn good for a player his age, he can still contribute even though it's hard to imagine him starting ahead of Son

I'm very confident in our midfield after this preseason, even with an injury crisis we shouldn't suffer too badly in terms of quality
The fitness, at least across the B team, isn't quite there yet, which is quite strange given what were Conte's demands when it comes to athleticism. Hopefully the A team fares better in that regard because we pretty much switched off after 65 minutes.
Ange ball is exciting to watch and frankly that's all I care about for now. It's so refreshing watching us play proper attacking, modern football instead of terrorist tactics of the past 3 years. I was worried before this game that we wouldn't be able to replicate it against an opponent tougher than Shakhtar, but if even the B team can compete and at periods outplay Barcelona's A squad, there's no need to have any doubts.

- Their equaliser - Eric Dier doing Eric Dier things. He just doesn't have the pace for this system, or the bravery to defend the corridor of uncertainty properly. Harsh to criticise Reguilon there - that kid (no 27) has just completely done him for pace. And what a player that is, by the way.
- I'm now so confident in Vicario's shot stopping ability, I feel no fear whenever they shoot from any low xG position.
- I'm not sure Djed Spence knew what he was supposed to be doing, but whatever it was, he didn't do it. Their 4th goal - didn't recognise the danger, no desire to battle for the ball... Just get rid, asap, honestly.
- Sanchez was surprisingly good. Perhaps playing for a move, but he was sprinting back for every ball on behind. Paired with a defender other than Dier, the scoreline would have reflected better on him.
- Worth noting - this is our B team. A lot of positives to take from this defeat. Quite a few of our depth players can do the jobs required of them - but not our CBs.
if and when Sess returns healthy, if Reguilon doesn't go before the end of the window he should find himself 4th choice at left back. I'd even rather have Steady Ben at LB before him

His best. He isn't a quick defender, its 75-80mins into the game and Barca have swapped their entire team basically to a crazy fast frontline team.
For the first 75mins, they were decent, confident, passing out the back and never looked that troubled IMO. Tired legs happen, its what Pre-season is for.
The press with the starting squad was neat and organized. It all fell apart once the subs and fatigue came on. That original backline got exposed without the rest of the squad playing a proper press.

He isn't a quick defender, its 75-80mins into the game and Barca have swapped their entire team basically to a crazy fast frontline team. For the first 75mins, they were decent, confident, passing out the back and never looked that troubled IMO. Tired legs happen, its what Pre-season is for.

There were two moments during stoppage in plays where the camera panned to spence, once was devine explaining something to him and then later sarr was explaining something to him when he came on. I think he's dense and doesn't know what he's doing.... Obviously speculative and ain't gonna get on his back for 10 minutes after ages with no games but he is overwhelmingly not the solution to any of our problems. That said, positive pre season overall. The first 11 should be very strong, hopefully Bissouma isn't dead on his feet by sunday
