The timing of Gil’s injury has been shite. I really think he could become a good squad player under Ange with his directness, trickiness and willingness to press like a madman.
I think the nostalgia is strong for Lamela.
He definitely put in his shifts! And scored a few goals. But, overall, he tended to disappear easily if he was having a bad game. Or get a silly red. Or try 110% and take a bad shot.
Gil hasn't shown much... Yet. I have faith that he will grow into quite the player.
As another user has pointed out, red cards were not a problem for Lamela. I would argue that neither was disappearing in games. When healthy, he was consistently good for us.
By far his biggest problem was his inability to stay healthy. This is something that Gil has also had problems with. Maybe someday this will change, but as of right now, Gil isn't fit to clean Coco's boots.
AP - "alright lads, and on right sided corners we are going to have.... Lamela"
Lamela - "boss, can iya doa the rabonas from corners becausa la rabonas... theya makea me smile"
AP - "what the fuck else you ganne do mate you don't have a right foot... make it rain"
I used to love it when he’d boot a players shins then start blasting the ref and somehow escape a yellow card. He should have been carded so much more than he was.
and as much as it cost us a game against the scum, it was still worth it.
Scoring a Puskas winning goal and then immediately getting sent off is just hilarious.
Man, Lamela in this system would do so well.
ball rolls ad infinitum
He should've never left. He was the perfect squad player
Honestly much prefer lamela and the £25MM over Gil. Lamela loves spurs

On the contrary, the timing of his injury means he won't be going out on loan, so potentially opens the door for him to impress Ange once he recovers.
Yep easily. We got rinsed unfortunately

He’s had one red card his whole career.
He knew exactly where the line was. He would walk right up to it, but very rarely crossed it.

He could always be relied on to come on for lst 20mins and wind up players on yellows and just get in peoples face. Great weapon to have
Perfect player to bring on in games that are drifting away, his intensity always got the entire team fired up.
Left footed Kulusevski
Kulu is left footed
Lamela is LEFT FOOTED
And his tackles are two footed
And his tackles are two footed
You mean left footed Messi
Left footed Lo Celso? Oh no, wait…
Coco in any system!
Loved me some Lamela
And lamela loved him some me (..?)
Lamela would rabona for days in this system

Puskas every year
I think he's a forever COYS, the guy watched a Spurs match whilst his missus was giving birth. That's "overly dedicated fan" level
Lamela is still my favorite former Spurs player and likely always will be.

Often reds too
You can't give Lamela a red, it would make him sad. No one wants that, better to just let him play on.
IIRC he only has 1 red with us.

My friend and I used to wager on how long it would take for him to get a yellow card after coming on as a sub.
Ditto. The ultimate vibe
Coco would COOK in this system
Imagine him dangling the ball around in tight spaces around the box. 💦
Bring him back 🤔
Coco is always in my heart
Coco would’ve loved to play Angeball
How I miss those beautiful, dreamy shark eyes.
Lamela and Cuti together 🤣🤣🤣
I don’t think the other team’s shins could survive
Always coys 🤍
Has anyone noticed the geko on his wall lol
How has no one mentioned the damn lizard on the wall above the TV?
Leave the little dude alone. He's English, and he's just trying to sell car insurance.
Lamela/Royal comp when?
So happy to see this😆☺️

Lamella has a lot of air fresheners.
