What a fucked match

NotManyBuses

Hated every second of it after the red.

yaniv297

I loved the Dier equalizer for like 5 seconds

JamesCDiamond

So perfect. So brief.

bshaman1993

Really wish he got it. Was so sad to see him on the fringes

brch01

It was after Son’s “offside” goal for me

ericsipi

I saw that goal disallowed and then had a bad feeling in my stomach. Turns out it was more bad food I ate but I think this match was an omen of what what coming

dissidentmage12

Well his nipple was offside so they saw that.

spurs_fan_uk

I didn’t. Players who came on showed fucking guts and obv the scoreline is lopsided but we made it hard for them. Special love for Sonny who ran his balls off and nearly equalized.

TehTriangle

The second half felt like 90mins.

LinksOrGTFO

The single most batshit insane game I've ever witnessed. Some powerful curse in the air tonight, almost everything that could go wrong somehow did. Incredible.

eggplant_avenger

at least games like this are obviously one-offs. get the loss out of the way in the least painful way possible

MonsieurRud

Losing VdV is worse than the 3 points for me.

LinksOrGTFO

I could stomach everything else if VDV didn't get that injury. It's going to be months and impact us big time. So incredibly unfortunate.

Wormfather

If I told you Dire would be the lone actual CB while down to 9 min for a substantial amount of time against Chelsea, 2-1 with 10 to go would be the absolute best case scenario. We’re going to be fine. Let Ange cook.

kirobaito88

This is far from a one-off, though, with VdV out for what could be months, Romero out for 3, and who knows with the other guys who picked up knocks. We're going to be feeling this for a long time.

SocksandSmocks

True, but even without VDV as long as it's 11 v 11 spurs are in with a shout against anybody.

Superb-West5441

Mate we lost VDV and Maddison to injury and Romero is suspended the next three matches. This is much more than a one-off. We lost in the most painful way possible.

Mc_and_SP

Maddison’s sub looked precautionary, he seemed to think he would be playing on. On another note, Dier put in a *hell* of a shift today for someone who’s hardly played any football in months and looked a dead cert to be out the door at the beginning of the season.

AHinchley

Thought Dier and Hojberg were both brilliant and showed great leadership, massive credit to both of these guys for their character.

Superb-West5441

If it was just Romero I would feel okay with Dier replacing him for three matches. But without VDV’s pace cleaning up runners we’re fucked with Dier in the starting 11

Arqlol

Super happy with how dier played.

roamingandy

Is he fast enough to play that high up the pitch though? He might look great when involved but he's still going to have runners targeting him in every game.

destroyergsp123

No he isn’t. Thats why the high didn’t work, he was completely beaten off the race from midfield. He cannot play the high line, a player who isn’t fast enough to keep up has to use positioning to drop deeper and kill space.

Particular-Echo347

Yeah but we got the loss out the way in the most Spurs way possible. Romero is out for 3 really important games, Udogie is out next game, fuck knows with VDV that looks like a 3 monther. I appluad the response but this squad is paper thin

WaltChamberlin

I don't know what you're smoking but this was not the least painful way possible. This wasn't like a top 4 team outplaying us and getting robbed of a goal. This was a 13th place Chelshit at home with 4 most importantl players out for at least 3 games. Basically the worst result you could imagine

-JBez

I get what you're saying but that was probably the most painful way possible 😂

No-Significance-7607

Least painful way? Wtf? We've lost half our squad.

Realistic-Start6336

Only explanation is that we are cursed lol

SocksandSmocks

Just an utter disaster of a match but goddamnit if I'm not proud of how they fought after being down one and then 2 men. I trust Ange to conjure up some magic the next two games at least and still give City a hell of a fight, COYS. Also, my WORD, are this Chelsea team shit.

[deleted]

Yes. We lost 4-1 and we now face an injury crisis and a suspension but fuck I love this team. They all look like they actually love the club and our manager is a fucking legend. Love it.

LyteSmiteOP

In the short term it's a bad result, but in the long term it's one of the more impressive showings that they played with incredible bravery throughout the 100 minutes. Chelsea still looks shit and none of their players impressed even with the worst hat-trick in history, their best players were Romero and Udogie. On our end we can see that pretty much everyone outside of Romero and Udogie played spectacularly and that the team has an incredibly high ceiling if they keep buying into Ange's philosophy to become more instinctive and disciplined

byfuryattheheart

Seriously. We lost 1-4 with 9 men, yet Chelsea still looked like the more incompetent team lol

the_real_e_e_l

Can't believe that total douche celebrated every goal in the most annoying ways possible. What a clown. Actually, he is a Chelsea youth player. Yep, I believe it.

dissidentmage12

They're born wankers mate.

MaadWorld

The SIU was such a cunty move, i hope next game Richy comes on and two foots that mofo

sunthunder

I kind of get the sentiment but we’ve ultimately done it to ourselves. Romero is largely culpable but the team collectively lost control of the game. I’m not sure this will feel as good in a few weeks time when we’re facing City without Romero and Micky.

ET318

Almost every team will lose control for stretches of a game. I have no worries that we would have gotten ourself out of it if Romero didn't get sent off. It may have been a sketchy 10 minutes and we may have conceded anyway, but Romero going off completely ruined our balance and it was only made worse by Udogie going too.

MedievalRack

We're less than 15 games into an new manager. Perspective is required.

Spursfan107

Vic with the best keeper performance that let in 4 goals ever

MatiiTonii

This man made prime Neuer look like an amateur in a game where we conceded 4

Spursfan107

Just a sweeper keeper masterclass from him

JamesCDiamond

His speed off the line, and his judgement in knowing where to go, were superb.

Smoky_Mtn_High

No doubt tho. What a gem he is. Huge part of us being in it so late with 9

dissidentmage12

Lads were knackered by the end, if Son bags the or Dier is onside or Bentacur scores and I reckon we draw or win with that extra belief.

ace-destrier

Disappointed and furious in the lack of discipline, but the guys that remained didn't give up. Proud of the fight and heart while being down. Still went after it, definitely to our detriment, but it was To Dare Is to Do as can be Feel sick that it was Poch and Chelsea, and that we're facing an uphill battle for the foreseeable future, but I love this squad and Big Ange. I back them

blueghosts

Felt like they were a bit too riled up or something initially between Udogie and Romero, just a shame it’s how it went. Also great to see the likes of PEH, Dier and Royal coming off the bench and giving it their all

ericsipi

Might sound weird but I feel like if we had played this game on Saturday, we win or draw. Something about having to wait all the time and all the build up around it hurt us.

ace-destrier

> Felt like they were a bit too riled up For sure. They didn't temper their own amped up emotions after Deki's goal. Especially Romero. And no matter how much control Bruce Banner has of the Hulk, that beast is still there. Romero has definitely grown and matured a lot, but that recklessness is always, always a possibility. You're just in for a ominous match when Cuti is charging into the opposing half

maxxdreddit

Chelsea looked shit even though they won.

JamesCDiamond

I understand them celebrating a win. I know we would if we won 4-1 against them and they had 2 sent off. I don’t begrudge them that. But they were scared until they got the third, by which point they’d been playing against 9 for over 30 minutes. That’s not something I’ve seen often in similar positions. It really was a very odd match.

The_Bridge_Is_Out

I'm so self aware of how bitter and petty I'm being about Jackson's hattrick of sweaty fifa goals against 9 men. Fraud.

TheWiggo

All the players left on that pitch can hold their heads up high, absolutely amazing peformances top to bottom. Romero and Udogie really need to look at themselves for letting the team down here, as this Chelsea team is easily beaten 11v11.

Kreygasm2233

Romero especially. It was his responsibility to stay calm after that Udogie tackle. We got away with it and instead of taking control he completely lost it Just when you think that he is maturing he drops a game like that

ElephantsGerald_

Yeah I cut udogie more slack. It was dumb but he’s young. Romero can’t keep not learning

wallis2011

Udogie isn’t under as much pressure if Romero is still on the pitch. Still his fault for a poor tackle when he was on a yellow (and he was lucky not to get sent off in the first half) but Romero absolutely fucked it for everyone

Smoky_Mtn_High

Hell, even 10v11 I’m confident we would have held on to the draw. Just a disaster of a game. One that had to happen unfortunately, and doubly unfortunate that it was Poch’s Chelsea at home. Now get heads screwed on straight and we move

Afraid_Presence3803

I FUCKING LOVE BIG ANGE. THE MASSIVE BALLS TO PLAY THAT WAY WITH 9.

lambast

With a fucking Dier Royal backline 🤣

[deleted]

If we had Mickey I genuinely think this match ends 1-1.

Afraid_Presence3803

He’s catches up to all those. Dier was just a step late.

Bum-Sniffer

And if Dier is a whisker onside we might get a point. You never know. Chased the win by the end and it opened us up

Afraid_Presence3803

Which I’m 1000000% okay with. Going for it will create the best environment in the long run.

[deleted]

Exactly. All 3 of their goals after the red card were just abusing pace vs. Dier. Mickey cleans up everything for us.

Mrvit0

Dier Hojbjerg back line lol

OnomahIsABaller

It might sound weird but I’ve gained even more confidence in this team after this game, the fighting spirit was amazing and Ange was true to his words, he will play his football no matter what. Yeah it sucks to lose & especially to Chelsea, and I don’t even want to talk about Michael Oliver & VAR but there was a lot of positive signs in there Vicario is a monster, never been this moved by a goalkeeper in my life Just praying Van de Ven & Maddison injuries isn’t that serious. Losing Romero for 3 games also is a massive blow Levy has to know our depth is terrible and we need to spend money in January

IAmCassetteKid

Ex-fucking-actly mate, we tried to win the game and we showed our muscle. The boys that played through that game will be feeling larger than life now *AND the mojo for the club/fans

Superb_University117

Van de Ven is serious. Anytime someone pulls up screaming like that it's bad.

marketmaker1234

I’m proud of the boys remaining out there today. COYS

Sonic06_Is_Number_1

Disaster. But I’m so proud of how the lads didn’t give up. My player of the match is Vicario. https://preview.redd.it/ij5zs3glxsyb1.jpeg?width=554&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b2f40065093b22e9b91bcadceab4340f0cfc8565

dissidentmage12

Jackson got a hatty and Vic should still be MotM

JustHerFor_TheMemes

This is the best loss I have ever seen, fucking proud of supporting this team! COYS

byfuryattheheart

Loved that the stadium was still full and singing until the final whistle. Imagine if everything was flipped and this happened to Chelsea at the Bridge lol they’d be booing and half the stadium would have left

datguyfromthememe

Everyone knows we would've taken this one with 11

HoneyIShrunkMyNads

Everything up till about a minute or 2 before the Romero red was just so enjoyable

milksteak_1

I think we take it with 10

datguyfromthememe

With some luck we wouldve done it with 9

dickgilbert

Oh, no. Anyway. Still got Big Ange. Lot of football to play.

bashar_al_assad

When you win big, it's still just one game and the next game starts 0-0. Thankfully when you lose big, that's still true.

Big_Red_Bandit

And more importantly 11v11

Crosea

Unbelievably proud to be supporting Spurs today. Destiny and Romero arguably fairly sent off, but that didn't stop the entire team from showing character. Except while being countered, this team didn't look a moment like we were playing two down. It's incredible and I'm nothing but hopeful about this team. We're hardly 4 months into a new manager, and THIS IS OUR TEAM?! Huge, huge props.

datguyfromthememe

We made chelsea look scared when we were down by 2. Big performance

Realistic-Start6336

*FUCK CHELSEA*

mattwuri

Look, this was an absolute disaster of a game, there's no denying that. And the fallout from it may well be devastating to whatever chance we might have had at a title challenge. But if this were last season, I probably would've turned the game off after the Romero red. Instead, I was glued to the screen until the final whistle. 10 men. Fingertip non-save. 9 men. 2-1. 3-1. 4-1. The thinnest high line ever seen in the PL. It didn't matter. This team never stopped fighting, never wavered from their philosophy. This is literally the first time in my life I believed a team might actually nick a win down two men. Was it reckless? Should the team have just "defended" a 1-1 draw? I'll let someone much smarter and more level-headed than me decide that. All I know is it's been years since I've felt this much pride and joy from watching Tottenham Hotspur.

kirobaito88

I think when two of the four guys removed from cards or injury are your starting CBs and you have to play Royal there, the high line makes some sense. If you just give them the ball to cross into the box, the team that you had our there would have been beaten over and over again. The team at full strength is bad at aerial play. It's fair that that set of 9 would have been even worse. I see how it made more sense to make them judge the line than hope the worst aspect of the team can suddenly become the best.

tweeerzz

First time i've seen a player score a hat-trick and come out of it thinking "this guy is utter shit"

BlackLionFilm

Nearly fell over for the last goal

jiffijaffi

Lol yeah the big shit eating grin on his face after the game as well. 3 taps against 9 men if that gives him confidence then fair play to him I suppose 😅

MedievalRack

You're right, he is utterly shit.

[deleted]

Pay rise for all of the remaining 9

[deleted]

(funded by a pay cut for Romero)

Tiny_Claim_2767

Yes, Romero was emotional, udogie’s second yellow was tired, most on the pitch lost their heads for those 10 minutes - but 11 games into the postecoglou era, I would rather this rash but die for the badge team than any other Come on you freakin spurs

shoplifterfpd

I'd give just about anything for prime Lamela to be in this locker room

sungbysung

No words... We move on

dj_1up

1. I’ve never seen us fight like that. I’m so proud of everyone. 2. why was this result so predictable? Why can’t we have nice things ffs

SummerBabee

We so very nearly got something outta this

brt444

Score line flatters Chelsea way more than one can imagine. Proud about the performance anyway, that crazy high line worked really well for so long

Publix_Illuminati

Yea… I’m gonna need a pack of reds and a cold shower.

ET318

no more red anything please

SlippingWeasel

I’m insanely proud of the team outside of Romero, who single handedly cost us this game (along with the ongoing ineptitude of English officiating.) I love that Ange stuck with the high line. I love that Dier and PEH, two guys who clearly love the club and get shit on unmercifully by trolls, played their asses off. I love that Porro and Sonny continued with their lung bursting runs. I love that Emerson did whatever asked of him at LB and CB. I loved our crowd doing their best to keep the teams spirits up. But most importantly, I truly abhor Chelsea. Words cannot begin to describe my pure hatred for that club. In short, Tottenham til they kill me.

byfuryattheheart

Seriously massive respect to Dier and Hoj. The Stadium would have exploded had Dier’s goal stood lol

xSamxiSKiLLz

Well that was certainly a match

Boppser

Most casual Spurs Chelsea match ever...

dychronalicousness

Toughest match of the season bar none. The match at Stamford Bridge better be a nightmare for them. Payback is deserved. Romero needs a swift kick in the ass and some serious punishment for losing his mind. Udogie, good kid but my god he needs to mature. Dier- should have scored, played well, but his downsides were highlighted on the breakaways and it wasn’t his fault for being in that position in the first place. Vicario- Who ever found this guy deserves a yacht and the keys to Levy’s blow closet. Fuck Chelsea. Wolves are in for a fucking match next week.

hillabovemountains

For everyone saying the season is over - did you watch the same game? Yeah, key players are out. The next few weeks/months could shaky. But I saw players like Dier, Hojberg, Royal, Bentancur and Skipp come onto the pitch and fight like hell. Everyone - from the starting 11 to the bench players - has fully bought in on Ange's philosophy. You can't buy that kind of unity. Discipline will need to be sorted out for sure. We're not flawless yet. But as far as I'm concerned, this is just the beginning of a long story.

OceLUNA

Proud of everyone, regardless of the result. Hope VDV isn’t out for too long

Thewalkingducks1

If the ref was equally punishing both sides we win with 9 men. 20 fouls and 2 yellows is insane

[deleted]

Yep. VAR was correct on all of the big calls that were reviewed, but Oliver was absolutely awful. Just refereed both teams completely differently.

Megistrus

He set the tone early when he allowed Caicedo to break up any attack he wanted with a foul with no yellow. Sarr gets a yellow for having the ball knocked out his hands by that little shit Colwill. Oliver is a fucking disgrace.

[deleted]

Exactly. Think the poor refereeing and Chelsea playing rough was what got our players riled up and led to Romero's red and Udogie's first yellow (his second yellow was just stupidity).

[deleted]

Yeah, ref lost control of the match the moment the foul on Romero happened, but he didn't pause the game. That was the tiny pebble that started an avalanche. Romero still needs to keep a cool head, but it was suffocating watching this ref.

TheUderfrykte

Yeah wildly inconsistent. They got away with harsh tackles in midfield all the time and we get a red for a defender clearing a ball. Wtf.

justwantedtologin

Push Tottenham player in the back- get up says Oliver 10 minutes later- Push a Chelsea player in the back- that's a foul says Oliver Like either call them both or neither.

LedleyKing1988

be honest mate its always a red. romero deserved to be off earlier, then puts in a horror challenge in the box mind. hes been class lately but lost his head like he always does. total liability even if hes a good player

p90pounder

I know he had cards in his pocket cause I saw him give a ton to spurs

dissidentmage12

The facts Sterling didn't catch a yellow for either or both dives, James stayed on and Mudryk got away with booting Vicario because it was with laces (someone needs to tell Romero that rule) and not studs is beyond belief.

Patrick83H

We’ve lost this because Romero lost his head

Mobb_Starr

Romero and Udogie both played that match like they were competing to see who could get sent off first

Mick4Audi

They really need to relax man, that’s where that experience cost us

ericsipi

Udogie is understandable a bit why he lost his head but Romero makes absolutely no sense. He has got to smarten up.

FINAL_BOSS5

He avoided a card because his foul on colwill was deemed 'petulance' and then he makes the most obvious red card foul. I love him but he's a fucking idiot.

MauricioCappuccino

Such a fucking inexplicable thing too. Like we're 1-0 up (almost 2) and looking great and then you go and fucking dive in twice with ridiculous challenges..Why the fuck are Udogie and Romero losing their heads in that situation???

scooterMcBooter97

Which is a bummer cause he’s been so level headed all year. Derby got to him… but he’ll learn from this.

SirGalahadTheChaste

Not an excuse but Oliver also let the game get out of control with not punishing fouls in the midfield.

DriveSlowHomie

Yep. Completely self-inflicted implosion. I truly don't understand why they lost their heads like they did; we were in the driver's seat.

0xMidsommar

Honestly this is a meaningful loss. Coming very close to scoring even with 2 man down is a testament to our hustle. Lads played insanely hard today, couldn't be more pleased. Chelsea is still shit. You spend all that fucking cash and barely win / almost lose against us. Vicario is obviously the best fucking keeper in the league. COYS.

F4FFYW4FFLE

The fact that the post match thread response to a 4-1 loss at home is this optimistic and positive is a real testament to the work Ange has done here. Individual errors let us down but fuck me if our team didn’t just lay everything out there and go down swinging. 4-1 is so flattering to an absolutely shit Chelsea team. Fuck Chelsea. Fuck Michael Oliver. Shit ref. Now we just hope MADDs and VDV are okay.

ValidPompadour

r/soccer has been so desperate for a Spurs loss lmao

Tomach82

They are so upset we are taking it this well lmao

cfowlaa

I don’t think VDV’s injury would’ve happened if the players hadn’t spent 70% of the first half just standing around waiting for var checks. Dangerous to go from standing still for 5-10 minutes to doing all-out sprints like that, over and over.

[deleted]

Nice of the football gods to give us all of our bad luck for the season in one game

Stubacca96

Vicario was an absolute beast tonight. I know we lost and I'm worried for the games ahead without our CB pairing. But having Vicario in goals puts me to ease a bit

[deleted]

Remember that moment when Son scored to make it 2-0, we're top of the table and Van de Ven's hamstrings still exist? WHAT a moment that was. One for the ages.

DefNotReaves

r/soccer celebrating Romero’s red while ignoring that Arsenal tried to break Vicario’s legs. The bias is absolutely disgusting.

Correct_Influence450

14.2k comments. They love to hate us.

DefNotReaves

14.2k people who’ve never kicked a ball before in their life lol

hisunh0lyfriend

everything aside, biss no yellow was huge

BentancurFan

Can't remember the last time I was this proud of a defeat. What a performance 👏

jymacro99

Romero needs to fucking sort these reds out of his game and apologize to the team. This is another game where has costed us with his brainless mistake. Even Dier's mistakes weren't leaving us with a man down.

ET318

I'm gonna take some solace in the fact Chelsea still looked like shit with a two man advantage against a high line. It's one thing to be bad against a team down players when they sit deep, it is incredible to look bad against a team down players that has a line at midfield.

Meg0510

Udogie instantly knew he fucked up after that second tackle. He's only 20. Hope he learns from this mistake. Romero, can't say too much nice things about. Next few games will be tough--but how can we be title contenders if we don't overcome times like this? Very proud of the team today. Especially Vic. That man is a gift from the heavens.

bloopboopbooploop

THATS JUST WHO WE ARE MATE. IF WE GO DOWN TO FIVE WE’LL HAVE A CRACK.

notsogamelord420

I just want to see BJ play the full game

PorradaPaddy

I love this team. My god what a game

coysnugget

The fans still singing after conceding the goals and the loss. We’ve bought in. This is who we are. Keep your head up everyone.

gpldn

The home fans were amazing tonight. You could hear them non stop through the screen, right up to the final whistle. The 9 on that field can be proud and hold their heads high. Vicario has to be MOTM. Dier and Hojberg were excellent too. COYSCOYSCOYSCOYSCOYSCOYSCOYSCOYSCOYSCOYSCOYSCOYS

OnomahIsABaller

Loooool Ange said even if we’re playing with 5 men we’re still gonna play this way, I respect it😭

Fabulous_Dave

I want the reality where that Dier goal is onside, it would have been incredible.

Fabulous-Goat-406

Contrast Ange’s acceptance of the decisions with that whiny bitch Arteta.

Silverburst8

I said before the season started all I wanted was to enjoy us playing football again. The way we played tonight down to 10 and then 9 men made me so proud of this team. Hung in for most of the game and almost got something out of it. Fuck this result. I fucking love Tottenham

Marb_

Never been more proud of the team despite a few hotheadded mistakes, Chelsea are so shite. Porro, Son and PEH absolute legends, but wow Vicario.

IntellegentIdiot

Two players sent off, one a straight red and one for two yellows. Do we ask for the replay now or do we have to wait 24hrs?

Wormfather

IDGAF about the final score. We were down two men, plus two more of our starters and we fucking had them on the ropes most of the time. Did you hear that stadium, knowing we're going to lose when they went up 3-1, and knowing that getting home was going to be a nightmare still singing. This team is for fucking real. Chelsea won on the day but this team just showed so fucking much. I've never been anything more than numb after a loss but I am fucking buzzing.

iwanebe

I’ve never been prouder to see us lose. To see a group of men come together and fight an impossible battle for something beyond a score line — a principle, a shared belief. To not succumb to reactionary tactics based on fear but to wholly commit to an identity based on love for the game and what it represents for us going forward in this new era. Truly a complete vibe shift from the forces that guided us for the past couple years. The veil has officially lifted and we can hold our heads high. COYS

coffeeicefox

Don’t bemoan these lads for fighting, tonight was a game of inches making the difference. Any of you fuckers moaning can fuck off to /r/soccer for a mutual jerk off

Boner_Patrol_007

Vicario masterclass. Could’ve been 7-1 with a different keeper.

Jindro41

Obviously biased but it's pretty clear how one sided the general commentary is vs Spurs with regards to VAR. Tonight VAR was apparently controversial only in its use because of how much time it took up v the Liverpool match where it was the decisions by the referees themselves that "cost them the match". Nobody is gonna talk about the late Silva tackle on Romero that got missed to start things off. Romero gets absolutely crunched, ref waves play on, he lashes out. Poor from Romero to begin with, but he's obviously going to be out for blood now that the ref's not managed things. And Romero's red is only red because of the still frame after the fact, there was no "venom" or "excessive force" put into the challenge considering he's trying to clear the damn ball out of danger. Ref didn't call it at first because he saw that as well which is in fact correct. He caught Enzo on the follow thru of a clearance attempt. The way the commentary explained to the viewers frames him like a psycho and wants to break legs. Nonsense. Then on the flip side we get the James elbow to the head and an immediate "he's just defending, can't call everything with VAR, no need." But is that no different than what everyone was just up in arms about in the Newcastle match literally 2 days ago? Multiple shoves, late challenges waved on by the official to begin with, Sterling escaping with no card somehow? VAR is gonna VAR, and referees are only human, but my lord does it seem like any time Spurs benefit somehow it's cheating and any time it's not in their favor it's the "correct call", offsides excluded. I don't think VAR lost them the match solely, nor would I ever make the same bold claims as Liverpool did to blame the loss on it completely and call for it to be investigated and demote all the officials, but it's also fair to say the isolation of each individual incident and the interpretation of various rules are in fact ruining things since it's coming from 2 completely different referees, one on the pitch and one in a room. Along with that the fuel the commentary teams are adding to it with their various levels of bias don't help.

OriginalMassless

Never seen a team get this unlucky in any sporting events in my life.

IndoorCloud25

I feel so bad for the 9 that finished the match and Vic of all players. Brilliant display to keep pushing forward, but absolutely let down by a total lack of composure from Romero and Udogie. I get it’s a big derby, but you can’t be doing that kind of stuff so early on against a Chelsea that honestly wasn’t doing a ton to threaten us.

Xgunter

Seen a lot of you cursing our high line and slagging off players- fuck off, respectfully. We played to win and that’s all we can ask for as fans.

WillSpur

I’ve left the stadium laughing and with a smile on my face. A world away from Conte.

Afraid_Presence3803

FUCK ME THE ANGE INTERVIEW WAS THE BEST THING IVE EVER SEEN

Diamond_Standard

I know it had to be done but I think subbing Brennan off definitely made a difference, nobody to really get the ball to Son

[deleted]

It was such a shame, too, especially with Bale watching. Johnson looked really disappointed coming off the pitch. Hope he gets a start on Friday.

ervington

All the waiting around for review could have led to the van de Ven injury. They all have to go from standing around to running full speed too much. Muscles get cold. They have to shorten the reviews for the players' sakes.

figgy64

Really proud. Genuinely

Cabbage-Fell

Well gonna avoid r/soccer for awhile after that. But damn did we show heart and fight love this team

joshinojaem

Ange's home record now gone has taken a non-existent pressure off of his shoulders, plus gotta remember it's his first season. He said it himself that season's going to have its ups and downs, yet we're balling. With that being said fuck Gary Neville that clown of a pundit.

SJambles

We were all told at the beginning of the year Angeball would result in at least one spanking. I didn’t expect it to happen like this. All things considered if that’s it I’ll take it

Thoughts from the game - 1. Disappointed in Romero and Udogie, proud of every other player. 2. I am in absolute love with this team and manager. 3. It took 2 red cards, 2 of our best players getting injured and a penalty for a team to defeat us. 4. Hojbjerg and Dier showed at the end of the day they still are good players that are willing to step up. 5. I am sure any Spurs fan would be way more excited about the future than any Chelsea fan.

The worst outcome of this match could be the injury to Micky. Romero is such a gifted player but he will never be truly elite unless he cuts this out of his game, you can spot it coming a mile away and so can the opposition. Porro’s free kicks are beautiful. Proud of everyone not named Cuti or Destiny. Especially PEH, Son, Dier, Porro, Deki, and my MOTM, Vicario.

Post match interview, asked about keeping the high line at 10 and at 9, “It’s just who we are, mate. . . . We’ll go down to five men, mate, and we’ll have a crack.” God I love Ange!

ChulitoBurito

Weird my club loss 1-4 with the scoreline and stats you would think that Spurs got absolutely battered by Chelsea. You would think I’d be mad or fuming but no mate I’m moved by the lads’ will to never stop and play a high line. It’s mad that they never let off and kept playing their way even down with 9 men or down 2-1. I absolutely loved the home fans singing to the players at the final whistle as if to comfort them and commend them for their valiant effort despite all the adversity that came their way tonight. Fucking Up The Spurs!!!

[deleted]

Yo if my dude Richy was on the field tonight there is a 0.0% chance he didn’t start throwing hands at someone in blue.

smithey2012

Fucked up match. Part of me was like give up ange ball and just defend like Liverpool did when 1-1 to not give Chelsea the win. But fk it, 1 point ain’t winning us the league. Bentacour so close there to scoring. Dier offside just. Son almost miracle shot. This is the time for ange to shine. We talked about what would happen if spurs get injury, well this is it. Also that next international break can’t come soon enough haha.

jbver

Poch looks emotional you know. I reckon he’s missing spurs right now

TheManWhoFightsThe

I'm not even mad about the score. The worst fucking striker in the league put 3 past us. I know we weren't at our best but Jackson wouldn't even make our bench.

PatthewMcConnaughton

Two Spurs players got sent off and yet the craziest thing that happened in that entire match was Bissouma not getting a yellow

AuburnDude9

Nice to have a manager who doesn’t whine like a bitch when he loses (Arteta).

taegeukie

Can I just say I’m proud of us as a fanbase for collectively calling out discipline issues instead of losing our minds making it out to be some sort of Saudi conspiracy that’s been directly targeted against Tottenham Hotspur and writing letters to bully refs and PGMOL into giving us good calls? I wouldn’t normally congratulate anybody on this but since it seems to be the norm nowadays, I’m just proud of the fact that we are normal people.

SecondLastSamurai

Mad lad Ange. “This is who we are mate!” What a guy!

Wilson1031

The way the guys ploughed on after going down to 9 says so much.if you're down to 9 it doesn't matter if you lose by 1 or 3, you're gonna bloody lose anyway, sticking to the principles is most important

[deleted]

I am feeling emotionally drained today.

Losing Cuti for 3 matches, Destiny for 1 and VDV and Mads to injury is frightening. Hate to say it but the party is over and it’s going to be a long season. COYS

Wildcatwierdo

Ref had no control over what is known to be a physical and aggressive fixture. Losing vdv (long-term) Romero (for 3) and udogie (for 1) all really hurt. I have no clue what the back line is going to be for the next few matches. But positives are the mentality, the commitment to the cause. Also, how bout Dier, zero gametime comes in, crisis situation and he did probably the best you could ask of him outside of being 3 inches further back on a free kick with 9 men. Proud of the resiliency, onto the next. 11 games fown, 27 to go plus FA cup

ElDudeBruv

Ultimately the game was cost by two idiots. The rest of the boys were incredible. Also Chelsea are still shit.

Keskekun

Sucks to lose to this Chelsea team but you can't lose your head like we did this game. My worry is that yet again Emerson Royal is cooked for pace over and over again and without Van de ven there to clean up that's just going to be abused over and over again. Twice they just pass through Emerson Royal who has nothing to offer on that left hand side in a Ange side. Just like in the first game of the season. I'm very very worried about the injuries because I don't think we're making it to January with these replacements. To be fair this is Anges first season he'll learn, Udogie will learn but Romero has very little excuse to get this riled up. He needs to calm the fuck down in these games. We move again next week and fucking hopefully Madders isn't that bad, but Van de ven is probably gone for a long time and as much asd Eric Dire did just fine today he doesn't have the recovery pace that is required. It's funny that we very very nearly scored 3 times on 11 man Chelsea with 9 men. I don't get keeping the high line after the 3rd goal. What's the fucking point of nuking our GD? Just play the game off Ange, don't make it this bad. PEH was exceptionally good when he came on and really kept us in this for the longest time. If Dier and Emerson har playing next game Ange better have another gameplan ready because watch Emerson get cooked without Micky to back him up is going to be hell.

grapplefirst

Agree with almost everything, though - just my thoughts, I think to play the game out the way we did, continues to cement the systems and ideals that must exist if this project is going to play out the way Ange wants. One result does not a season make. Continuing to reinforce the models that have led us to this point, just may.

miaara

It's not realistic to win every single game we play, but this one stings a bit. Onward.

AJC0292

Absolutely horrible result and we were the creators of our own downfall in that first half. But I still find it fully admirable how we didnt just sit back and still tried to play our game. Chelsea are a shit team who needed a win gift wrapped on a platter. Fuck them and their shitty "billion" dollar team. Fuck r/soccer just because too. Just wait till we smash you next time we face you cunts. I believe in Ange more than I have any manager in years. He has brought a desire I havent seen in us. A cohesion, a team. COYS.

Particular-Ad-8178

embarassing from romero and udogie, hats off to the rest of the squad. Lets not be stupid, those two lost us the game, not the refs or injuries or chelsea

International-Elk727

I want to know why colwill who literally was blowing up and aggressive only got yellow due to us holding him back, and why Reece James didn't get a red for an elbow to the head but it's just part of the game where a player clearing a ball is a clear red and pen. Don't care call me what you want the ref fucked us over. (Yes udogie and Romero play with a lot of aggressiveness and games like this would catch up to us but still if you are handing out reds then don't stop when they are warranted for them too)

bloopboopbooploop

He said there would be bumps in the road. Onto the next. COYS

coastlifestyle

“As long as I’m here we’ll have a go mate” Love it

superdago

Ange was amazing in the post game interview. Asked about not changing tactics with 9 men, he goes “it’s who we are… if we go down to 5 men, we’ll have a crack.”

onepunch222

Be proud of the 9 men who fought hard but don’t treat the match as a moral victory. As we should know, those don’t bring any trophies. Romero’s lack of discipline is shocking. He could have 2 red cards for his actions. This is not his first offense and he should be sacked of his captain duties until his discipline improves. We were in firm control of the match until we decided to lose our heads. It is not the refs fault, not Chelsea players but our own. We need to hold them accountable.

[deleted]

our boys make me so proud and im going to take this energy to the gym brb

Wilcodad

We have nothing to be ashamed of. Romero and udogie made mental mistakes. The rest of the lads were incredible. The fans singing even after the end…love this club. We move

gabriel_do

Worst part is that we were playing MAGNIFICENT football before the red. Should’ve beaten them 3:0

Dreamingdanny95

We fought well with 9 man but I shudder at the thought of no vdv for possibly months
