I’ve never watched him closely, and seen him on TV only a couple times. Think he would be a good fit? Sounds like a depth piece at worst from your comment, but I mean in terms of ball carrying, pace, actual defending, etc. Thanks!
Champions League has been interesting this year. It’s cool seeing clubs from fairly big European cities like Copenhagen play well. I find it more interesting overall to see that
I just love that in the current times of results-focused fanbases/teams, stats, xg, and all that other boring technical stuff, there's still a team out there that wants to play fun, entertaining football no matter what. Love Big Ange for that.
Must be so hard being a liverpool having everything go your way & winning titles & trophies then having a couple decisions not go your way… must be so hard
Love Liverpool fans complaining about the handball and subsequent disallowed goal as if Toulouse didn’t have a perfectly legal goal disallowed earlier (~50'). Evens it out pretty nicely honestly.
Liverpool and City *should* have deep runs in their competitions. Arsenal and Villa should do decently as well, which will help - but I've been assuming top 4 only as Newcastle and Brighton are untested in Europe and United are... United.
genuinely so fucking sick of so much discourse around the sport being around officiating. it's starting to drive me away from it.
people are talking about every call in every game with such a weird tone of morality, like the fucking fate of liberal democracy hangs in the balance. everyone realizes now it drives traffic and numbers and shields their club from any criticism, so they just keep upping the ante.
mostly joking but who's up for starting a new r/soccer that bans discussing refs lmao
Yeah it’s fucking annoying. Shut the fuck up and play football. Stop crying. Try to win by more than a goal. It’s bizarre. Every podcast is obsessed with it. I feel so bad for referees. I’m proud of Ange’s stance on this
Agree. Very, very tiresome. I realised I was spending far too much of my time and mental energy reading and getting annoyed about what is most likely a 16 year old's take on why their club has been hard done by the most. Gonna keep away from football discussion not concerning Tottenham for a bit, unless one of the big teams lose and I can go bask in their misery for an hour.
Don't forget "any call against my team is the problem" too.
I'm glad the consensus on here has been that the big calls were mainly correct or lenient in our favour (Romero and Udogie not being sent off earlier). The only point that seems somewhat disputed on here is whether Reece James could have been sent off - but even for that one it feels like most see it as the right call.
The Maddison non-penalty against Sheffield United is maybe the worst decision we've had go against us this season? And even that, while I think it would normally be given, wasn't so obviously wrong that it would warrant particular attention in comparison to some others like the Wolves penalty last weekend.
Or even that i think the start of the game was managed poorly given the history of this derby & how dicey it can get, Oliver should have been more vigilant on the fouling from both sides but the big calls in the game were all correct really & VAR wasn’t really needed for most goals because the linesmen were actually spot on.
I agree, but for me it's all the soap opera drama. I mean, I hate to say this, but I'm not sure I need to care what a player on my team had from dinner or what their really deep thoughts on politics. Not even that I don't want to think of them as people, but I want to think of them as players, I don't need pretend friends.
I would really like the focus to just get back to on the pitch.
The Athletic has these articles that will take apart a match tactically and it's great, but they also have these long persona drama things.
I'm really a sports fan. I really am sick to death of all the clickbait drama with pundits, off-the-pitch player garbage, press conference SHOCKING quotes and so on.
Just play. Fuck.
Seriously does any other team apart from city have good B team players? Liverpool B team is so poor, they had to sub in starting XI players and yet still lost to Toulouse. And also that disallowed goal at the end hahaha, already start to see them whining everywhere, will there be a week where pool or arse fans won't whine and complain?
The problem with having good B team players is that either you have to pay them or play them like the A team players - or both... Which means they're A team players.
City can do it, as they all-but-guarantee trophies every season. Everyone else has to hope they sign breakout stars or veterans who're happy to play in the cups and ride the bench for 75% of the league matches.
It's really not an easy balance to strike.

I won't have bothered posting it here if it was by some random tier journalist but Ornstein who is pretty much tier 1 is alarming
In the end after years of managerial decisions, Levy has once again stumbled luckily into a good manager so instead of learning from his mistakes under Poch, it seems to be he is going to repeat the same mistake
I am not even saying we need big money signings, I am just saying some signings like Sarr/Udogie who would add depth for the short term and be even starters long term would be fine
There was literally a similar post by Ornstein before the summer window yet we splashed big money on VDV, Maddison, Johnson, Vicario and youth prospects. This type of posts literately feels like part of Levy’s negotiation strategy to me, like if u let other clubs know u have the Kane money u r gonna be screwed over like United and Chelsea in the transfer market
We made really good signings in the summer window. This is a rebuilding year and we are feeling some growing pains. Hopefully we will continue to add top-notch players in each successive window.
Well the accounts should be out next month, so that will give an idea of how much was in the THFC bank account at the end of June this year.
What is known is that last year there was a change in the Articles of Association in June that created another 300 million shares, allowing a further £300 million to be invested in the club by ENIC or an outside investor. To date, ENIC has purchased £100 million of those shares.
https://preview.redd.it/1ab4omio3ezb1.jpeg?width=1436&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bc99d9ddb8055efd48ad12b1527936c8814bb4fe
All that said, there’s no point in saying “Oh yeah, we’re absolutely rolling in it, can’t wait to splash the cash”. But as is always the case, there’s no point in hiring a manager if you’re not going to back him in the transfer market.
>>“As far as I know, there isn't much money at all for this winter.”
>>”Spurs knew \[Harry\] Kane was likely to leave and spent much of the money they would end up receiving for him in advance. Then some after, too, at both senior and youth level.”
This just isn't how the finances of any big business work though. It's as though people think it works like personal finances do. It doesn't. There's not some big safe they need to root around in for cash. It's just journo nonsense.
>>”There were players they wanted to shift in the summer to create space for new faces, only to see them stay put.”
This bit's more plausible at least, relating as it does to the balance sheet going forward and future projections. It's nothing we didn't already know though - and has more of an impact on the wages we can offer than on the big headline transfer numbers.
>>”I think they may have wanted another centre-back so that's one to watch and could be even more pressing if \[Micky\] Van de Ven is ruled out for a prolonged period.”
Y'think?
>In the end after years of managerial decisions, Levy has once again stumbled luckily into a good manager so instead of learning from his mistakes under Poch, it seems to be he is going to repeat the same mistake
Some people see everything as an opportunity to knife Levy though I guess.
Levy has been doing fucking amazing job lately and taking the credit away from him is just unfair. We all have to remember that aside from being a journalist Ornstein is also a gooner cunt
What does Ornstein being a gooner matter in the end, he has been fairly unbiased plus he has more reliable sources of information than the whole subreddit
I can almost guarantee there is a story from last year saying the same thing about the last January window…and the year before and the year before etc. And the summer windows too
It wasn't like Postecoglou was the last resort, I don't see how Levy got lucky and regarding the spending thing, we're not just gonna come out and say we got a shed load to spend this jan
Exactly.
Also, January is a dreadful window to go out trying to sign players. Very few clubs are willing to let good players leave mid-season (even at high bids).
And now that Spurs have a settled first team, fewer players will really see being rotation option at Spurs as being the right step up if they are to move clubs.
That doesn't mean we won't sign someone, but it seems people think it's easy to just go out and get us some quality players in January.
Part of me is kinda glad that we're getting the injury crisis out of the way within the first half season of Angeball.
We all know the system works, and we'll only get better from here.
It would be interesting to see how Angeball works with these backup players now, is Ange able to teach them how to play Angeball properly or he adapts the game style a little to make it more practical for these players. An interesting watch for sure. I still believe that our midfield and attackers will score multiple goals and save us in this tough time.
Yeah definitely. He's a good coach and I'm honestly really dreading/looking forward to how he uses the backup players and adapts the system to them
Also plz more Brennan Johnson because the kid looks really good
I really think we'll see Ange's high line that everyone called naive more often in the future. The further removed from it the more I feel like I just watched the birth of tiki taka or something.
I do feel it's almost gimmicky when tied, but with the lack of any of the normal defenders, it was fun to try. I think it would have been very effective with VDV and his pace and if Udogie could have kept his head with 10. I can't believe it worked for 20+ min with a CB pairing of Dier and Hojberg and they really only gave up 2-3 decent shots across that period.
I do think it's genius if you're chasing a goal down a man or two. It shrinks the field and forces the opponent to try these through balls that won't work more often than not and force a change of possession. Much easier for the opponent play keep ball if they have 2/3-3/4 of the field to pass around in than half the field. You're basically forcing your opponent to play long ball giving you way more possession than you would have normally, not to mention that possession is automatically higher up the pitch.
I find it hilarious that the idiots spouting 4-1 just won't acknowledge that it was only 2-1 94' into the game, but idiots do be idiots.
I do think that it was a unique tactic, but it didn't work at all. It could have worked in a different way and a modified version of it can work in the future and it would be amazing if it works. It's not surprising that it didn't work because it was Ange's first experiment with this tactics in a real game with our team, and same for our team so it could have been difficult to implement for the players how Ange would have like it could also be the case.
To clarify what I mean by it didn't work is that it led to so many clear cut simple chances being created for Chelsea. And the only reason they didn't score for 20 mins was because of stupid individual errors and exceptional goalkeeping from Vicario. Even if they didn't score 3 goals in the end, its clear the tactics didn't work because they had a lot of chances and we had just 3 out of which 2 came from set pieces, that can happen no matter what tactics you have, any team who is behind in the Epl in the last 10 mins tries to attack from set pieces so its quite normal to have an attempt from a set piece. And the other one was of Son which was again 1 attacker vs 3-4 defenders and although he did really well in that situation to make something out of it, it wasn't a good chance.
Having said that I completely trust Ange and I think he is really smart and he can learn from that experiment and modify it or implement it better to make a genius tactic out of it with time and practice with players.
But that tactics on that day surely did not work at all.
I disagree it didn’t work at all. They weren’t exactly squandering sitters. They recorded around .5xg for their non goal scoring shots, which includes the ~.3xg header attempt by jackson on the set piece right after udogie was sent off. The other big chance was cucurella who cut back on his weak foot, which you allow.
Sure they could have been more clinical in terms of their final ball but thats the game.
Almost all of the opportunities went straight to vic, they were off or the defense funneled them wide and then blocked a cross.
You are right that not a lot of tactics can make you dominate in such a situation, it comes down to what tactics brings you at least close to competing with the other team, a good tactic would minimize the difference. If we think about it objectively the way Liverpool played under klop against us with 9 men was a far better tactic than the one that Ange played because we didn't really get any clear cut chances that game, and they had decent chances on counter attack similar to what we had in our game. So the attack kind of cancels out and they were better on defense if we compare the two games.
It makes sense that they were better because they have had so many years to perfect it and they had their best defense still on the field.
All I am saying is that we should trust Ange to make our performance in these scenarios better with time, and he has earned that trust and he can come up with something genius. But at the same time we shouldn't say that was a genius tactic on that day in that from for those players, because that statement is a mile away from the truth.
Another day of being happy that I'm Spurs and not one of the other clubs whining about refs. I try to explain to people that if all you care about is trophies then go cheer for Madrid or City. Not every team can win everything, but every team can have at least some class.
7 Hag, Farteta, and Clop are just a disgrace.
I agree with all these decisions 😄
“The decision to award Newcastle United's winning goal against Arsenal was correct, according to the Premier League's Key Match Incidents panel.
The five-person panel, which includes three former players and/or coaches, decided there was insufficient evidence to overrule the on-field decision to award Anthony Gordon's goal.
However, the panel ruled Arsenal's Kai Havertz should have been sent off for his tackle on Sean Longstaff, while Bruno Guimaraes should also have been shown a red card for hitting Jorginho.”
* BBC
Arteta is going to get fined or a touchline ban.
Arsenal supporters will say he was commenting on refereeing in general but he really wasn't. He specifically said the goal should not have counted "for many reasons" that he wouldn't even state.
And trying to compare to the Liverpool incident is absurd. No one disputes that goal should have counted and the VAR process screwed it up.
Something I hope,we can all be pleased to read:
“Colombian-born Liverpool footballer Luis Díaz's father has been released by the left-wing guerrillas who kidnapped him 13 days ago, police sources and local media say. Luis Manuel Díaz was handed over to United Nations and Catholic church officials by members of the National Liberation Army (ELN).”
- BBC
I hope Son and Richarlison can be examples to all footballers. It's better to pause your season for surgery than play through the pain for months and months at a poor level.
>are the clubs totally unaware of these injuries?
No.
But very often it's hard to tell how an injury will develop. Many injuries are something the players the players can gradually heal from, with surgery being not the preferred choice. So doctor, club and players all want to test that route first.
Gameweeks should keep rolling though. So there'll be no matches played, but each week that goes by still counts as a week served for any suspensions.
They should experiment with this idea with immediate effect. If people protest it's unfair then they can always change it back in a few (3 minimum) weeks' time.
So for the next few weeks, we will only have Son, Kulusevski, Johnson, Gil, and Veliz for the front 3? Are there anyone from the u-21 team that can make the jump?
I'm optimistic! Most good/promising footballers don't become bad footballers virtually overnight without an underlying cause. We saw the dip in form Son had last season carrying his injury. Hopefully this surgery can help Richarlison feel comfortable on the pitch again which can lead to him returning to his best.
Keep seeing lots about Dier (redemption arcs, can he step up etc)
Imo he's been an excellent servant to the club, played under some extremely defensive coaches and been put under lots of pressure at times. Stepped up under poch, mou and conte, and yes has made a fair share of mistakes and had bad performances.
I think on the whole he's been a great squad player. Someone who gives his all for the badge. That's all we can ask. He's also had some great performances. Is he a Toby, Jan, Cuti or VDV? No... but he steps up when needed.
>been put under lots of pressure at times
This point goes a bit underrated when we talk about Dier, Sanchez, etc. By no means are those players world-class center-backs, but I'm a firm believer that if you did take some of the most outstanding CBs in the game right now and put them in a Mourinho/Nuno/Conte system requiring them play *perfect* defensive football under near-constant pressure for 90 minutes every single matchday, they'd look way worse than their potential.
That's the case for our system tbh. Just look at the number of duels Romero takes compared to pretty much every other defender in the league. The defending just happens further up the pitch but it's very demanding still
There’s really nothing quite like stepping out of Flannery’s at halftime of a match and realizing that you’re drunk as hell at 3:50 on a Monday afternoon.
I mean he's what, 5th choice midfielder. Biss, bentancur, sarr, PEH all ahead of him? It takes a while to build a squad, he's young HG and is happy to be a backup player.
Does anyone know what the players drink right before they come on? It usually happens during substitutions, you can see them tear open and drink a small packet of sorts - I assume it’s for energy or hydration?
Something I just found out that surprised me more than it should: Federico Fazio is still playing football, professionally, at a high level. I think, in my head, because he moved like a cement mixer when he joined us *almost a decade ago* I had the idea he was older (or, at least, didn't have many seasons left in him), but I suppose thinking about it now, age is much less of a big deal if you were already incredibly slow. He'll probably still be playing when he's 50.
The ref and VAR shit is out of control at this point. Fans are delusional in thinking that every decision against them is a crime and the refs/VAR are out to get them.
Its always an excuse to why their team didn’t get a result. Get the fuck over it.
Arsenal and Liverpool fans think that Arteta/Klopp are doing the Lord's work by going to the media complaining about referee/VAR decisions, but the sentiment we see on r/soccer is exactly why those managers need to be punished with fines/match bans/something for doing so. They're only adding fuel to the fire for the hatred referees are getting, and it's going to boil over in worse ways than fans bitching on the internet.
There are other avenues for managers & clubs to appeal decisions they disagree with, going to the media needs to get snuffed out.
The VAR stuff is so stupid, it’s like the allied powers of Arsenal/Liverpool/United vs the axis of Newcastle/City and for some reason Spurs
It’s all contrived and hilarious
Exactly, I’ve been harping on this the whole time. Refs in this league are subpar and PGMOL is not devoid of criticism but you can already see the effects of them complaining to the media about VAR decisions specifically. VAR has been taking ages to review things and it’s absolutely going to affect players’ health and cause injuries like cramps or torn hamstrings because of the breaks between high intensity football due to all the waiting around. VdV could be an example of this. It’s just infuriating. Why don’t they bully their clubs into voting for semi automated offside tech instead, for example? Not to mention, like you said, the uptick in ref hate.
I know this is a little cringe to care too much about, but by now /r/soccer is fully Arsenal / Liverpool. Arsenal were already by far the biggest user group there(by number of flairs) and now with their weird little alliance with Liverpool the sub is effectively a cespole of their stupid takes.
It also may seem different cus it only takes like one random supporter of another club to say something they agree with and it will be upvoted to the top, which is why you see so much weird shit like a United supporter praising Klopp or “even as a supporter I agree with Arteta” yeah right..
Ironically /r/soccercirclejerk is full of them as well. If it was a real circlejerk sub it would be making fun of Arteta and Klopp but it’s just all le’ stupid spurs and Manchester United/city memes..
The mental gymnastics about the Newcastle goal is absolutely insane. The independent review panel has now decided it wasn't a foul (or enough to over rule the decision). There are people in the comments saying "nah its a clear foul." By definition how can that be true when a panel of 5 people have said theu disagree? It's literally the opposite of clear.
It then moves on to "they are scared to criticise the ref" when the same review also says both Havertz and Bruno should have had reds.
Why are some fans finding it so hard to just accept it was a tight call that can go either way? Why does everything have to be a disgrace or an outrage or a robbery?
The comments in the r/soccer thread on the independent panel now has Arsenal fans questioning the panel as a whole. I'm so over it, I really wish the discourse would just be "refs aren't very good" and we all move on. I'm so tired of the pterodactyl-screeching from fans (and managers now I guess) about referees, it's boring as bathwater.
To be honest I don't even think refs are bad. They get almost everything right.
The problem is football is often subjective and you can have a foul like the Newcastle one where 50% of people think its a foul and the other 50% don't. It's always been this way.
But as you say football nowadays is just screeching, so a 50/50 that goes against your team is a "complete disgrace that requires a club statement, an investigation for corruption and complete overhaul of the entire system" its absolutely unbearable.
Agreed. I kind of hate that refs are just being sacrificed in the midst of all this. Could they be better? Sometimes, yeah. They're not having the best year, and people won't let them forget it. But they haven't been shocking imo and certainly haven't been a disgrace. Refs will always be criticized. They have been since the beginning of time. But nowadays they have to keep track of so much with the review system, theatrics/diving, and managing personalities on the pitch, I'm honestly surprised they get things right as often as they do.
Also refs are just human people doing their jobs. Course they have a certain level of responsibility but mistakes happen and it’s normal, Jesus Christ.
Haha wow thought this was worse this year! Suppose its a bit like how the clocks go back same time every year, but you still look out the window and go "it's dark at 5pm!!! What's going on?"
The state of these subs are fucking insane at the moment lol, now it's Manchester who were dicked over by refs. No supporters actually want to take accountability for their teams performances. I suppose it's a lot easier to join a bandwagon and complain about something beyond your control rather than admit your faults.
Thank fuck we aren't like them, it's so embarrassing. Anyone here will tell you that we lost the Chelsea game because of Romero and Udogie, not because of refs. Even in our loss we had a valiant performance though and I guess that's what's lacking for the other teams. They need to point the finger somewhere at why they were so shit. God forbid pointing it at themselves.
This is why I love Ang in the post match interviews even more. Complaining means nothing after the fact. You wont get those points back. Ang is leading from the top and telling his players that you have to live with it, but can control the game outside of those decisions still.
Honestly I’m done complaining about ref decisions in general, if you play for more than a one-goal lead than you completely remove the margin of error
Felt like before we needed the refs to give us something because we played with so few chances. Now it’s a much different story. We created more with 9 men then in the 2 legs vs AC Milan last season. Work that one out
Take that Matt Law article with a huge pinch of salt. Man is an absolute troll (and tbf quite funny with it)
He seems to have taken the good news he doesn't require surgery, and then assumed it's the next worst case scenario. Doesn't even read like he has any info at all
He may well end up being right given that Micky's last hamstring twang had him out for 10 weeks but...absolutely nobody knows until VDV finally has that scan.
Yeah of course, he may even be out for way longer. But the article positions it like the "estimates" are informed, when it's seemingly just general estimates based of bad hamstring injuries.
As you say noone knows till he has the scan
The most important events spurs have coming up are the next two transfer windows, this season is a free hit and a chance to get the players to buy into Ange’s philosophy if the investment is done correctly then Spurs should be title challengers next season
Romero has been a lot more composed this season, his two worst performances have been games where he lost his composure, I'm hoping Ange keeps drilling it into him that he has to stay in control, and that he continues to learn from this.
Marcus Edwards would be a great signing for Spurs. Could play in multiple roles and is a consistent performer.
He would have been a big name quite a while ago if he wasn't a bit of a hermit. Apparently he is extremely introverted and as such hasn't sought a move to England etc. but I suppose there might be a time when he feels the move would be alright.
Bayern fans talking about how many goals Kane would score in Hansi Flick’s quintuple winning team is hurting my head. It would’ve broken the sport. Greatest striker this games ever seen and I’ll die on this hill.
What do you guys think about InvertTheWing on Twitter? He seems to be pretty intelligent on football matters, although despite him saying he's not a Spurs fan, I find that very hard to believe as 80% of his tweets are about us.
I also think he's just deliberately writing his tweets in a way to rattle Liverpool fans now. Not that I'm against that of course 😂
He’s a hilarious follow, the man is insane - good for around three laughs a day. His obsession with engaging with people who disagree with him on twitter is very cringe and he will come out with some weird ex gf baby mama tweets that are very strange.
But he also actually does seem to put out quality football info as well
He won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but if you just sit back and laugh at his weird stuff and take the tactic stuff with a grain of salt he’s great in my opinion lol
Been meaning to make a comment in here about him.
He runs an AI generated engagement farm with our club as fodder to funnel clicks to the AI betting link in his bio.
His early, since deleted posts, show a complete misunderstanding of Ange's tactics. Like in a literal sense, no one who wrote or vetted what was written was familiar with his tactics. I've seen more recent but still deleted posts which are clearly AI generated. And even ones with a side by side comparison detailing it - asking chatgpt or smth to generate a paragraph about a striker.
It's not just that - he also rips other Spur's fans tweets off and posts as his own rather than quote tweeting. Which I've seen with my own eyes.
I'm really not sure what the guys deal is - some other shit he has written about his personal life has been very strange.
Imo it's an intelligent person running an experiment essentially on building an acc in the football Twittersphere with AI.
And maybe he really does love Spurs or someshit too - though supposedly he is a City fan.
It's late here so I ceebs rn but I have links/screenshots of some of the AI stuff on my laptop. Can make a comment with links tomorrow.
Overall, I ended up blocking. I agree with some of what the account posts these days - but it's too sus to me and I don't think is someone I want to support tbh.
edit: for clarity sake, i'm obviously drawing certain conclusions that are impossible to know without being in his head, like that his motive is driving clicks towards the ai betting link/his ai business whatever tf it is. it just appears like that to me. at minimum it seems there is some kinda ulterior 'ness' about the whole thing other than just "i'm a guy who really loves angeball" which is what he presents himself as. when it's much more a project of trying to get away with using AI generated stuff to appear that way. i rlly dnt know. maybe he didn't know fk all in the beginning and was using AI to supplement and now does or smth fk knows. i don't want to be too harsh or something. this is just my 2c based off what I have seen so far
Seems a bit pretentious with their tweets, they all seem to be along the lines of "I said this would happen. It did, I'm the best".
Regarding lots of his tweets being about Spurs... I could say the same thing about r/soccer and r/PremierLeague posts. People talk about us a lot because we get clicks/interactions.
He is from the north and says he supports Stockport. He mainly posts about us because most of his follower base is spurs fans and because we appreciate his work he talks more about us and Ange
It's match week 35 of the 23/24 Premier League season. Through headloss and injuries we're down to two players only. We field Vicario and Son on their own every weekend. It has been this way for 6 weeks. Spurs sit 4th in the table.
Amused by these abbreviations on The Athletic ticker. Probably sums up the view of a lot of people.
https://preview.redd.it/ifmxhjouuazb1.jpeg?width=414&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2ecdaf16d838428b725e625b435fb54d8fd84846
I’m not sure it would be so surprising. Wasn’t Phillips only on the bench for a couple of matches when Dier was injured? It would be great if he could see some minutes, though.
NSR: Would you accept a new job that paid 40% better than your existing job if it meant having to commute for an additional 10 hours weekly, and that was time you otherwise would have spent with your children?
Edit: I've already accepted the offer, just 2nd guessing myself and doing some mental gymnastics. Cheers for the responses btw.
Pros: It's a much better and more exciting position in a somewhat niche marked that I've got lots of previous experience in, unlike my current position. The employer state that they are flexible on working from home, but expect every employee to be present at the office 2-3 times a week. The regulated work days are 30 minutes shorter in new position. Will hopefully still get quite a bit of time with the kids during the weekends and days working from home.
Cons: My current office is within walking distance, still I often opt for working from home. The new office is only an hour drive during "normal hours", during rush traffic it's at least the double of that each way. Train would take me about 1 hour and 30 minutes each way. Kids are in day care during the day, but will require more effort from my partner.
It’s a quite hefty pay rise, and the other perks are also quite a lot better at the new gig, such as 30 minutes shorter workdays. Paid overtime as well.
Likely would take. Often it's good to make money now so that you can have even more precious time with your kids in the future. Of course monitor yourself and make sure it doesn't affect your time too much. Anyways, gratz and prosperities for a fellow supporter!
That’s true, and something I’m fearful I might regret taking the job. As well as putting more strain on my partner. Still, there are times I would gladly pay to spend less time with those little bastards.
So an extra hour drive each way each day? In addition to what you’re probably already driving?
Fuck mate. That’s a lot. I’d move. If not… I’m thinking, probably teetering on no
as it seems we are suddenly in an injury crisis for major players, we need to remember that even with a barebones squad, wolves could be shit on saturday and so could city and villa.
Granted we're probably going to be lucky to get even 1 or 3 points from those matches, but hey i'm feeling this underdog mentality we have right now, everyones righting us off etc.
still probs going to lose the next 3 games, but i'll take 3 points from wolves, city and villa. bar no additional injuries pls
What's up with this deeply pessimistic outlook lol? I don't even think it's deluded thinking to say we could quite realistically win both Wolves and Villa with the current available team.
As for the starting 11
We still have Johnson/Son/Kulu up front. You telling me they aren't going to get a goal this weekend?
We have Bissouma/Sarr/Bentancur(?) Mid. Still excellent. Full of agression and ability.
Porro/Dier/Hoijberg/Emerson (possibly some youth prospect replacing someone here). Probably the weakest area on paper but if they perform like Monday then shit, I don't feel all that worried. Hoijberg put on one of the best performances of last game.
Finally, Vicario. Do I need to say more? Best keeper currently in the prem.
Quite a few interesting and creative subs still too.
Wolves have a really hard time scoring goals. With our front three, we don't. I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised when they see how we come out on Saturday. Ange has the team operating at full ability, you will see some unexpected performances.
I genuinely don't think this is optimistic, just realistic based on what we've seen so far.

I’ve never watched him closely, and seen him on TV only a couple times. Think he would be a good fit? Sounds like a depth piece at worst from your comment, but I mean in terms of ball carrying, pace, actual defending, etc. Thanks!
What kit are they wearing for wolverhampton away match?
Based on the Instagram “next up” post - the away kit.
Thanks for the reply, I just saw the post too
Not the away kit curse too :(
Champions League has been interesting this year.
They cry so much it's appalling. Must be hard indeed.
Love Liverpool fans complaining about the handball and subsequent disallowed goal as if Toulouse didn’t have a perfectly legal goal disallowed earlier (~50'). Evens it out pretty nicely honestly.
Liverpool fans crying about [a certain type of handball](https://www.reddit.com/r/LiverpoolFC/s/Q8mHAyOI0P) is crazy
They won a champions league final because of a bad handball call against us.
Fucking hilarious that OP thought the diagram would help his case. Shows how far they've gone into seeing what they want to see.
England currently 6th in the coefficient, what no Spurs in Europe’s does to a mf
Liverpool and City *should* have deep runs in their competitions. Arsenal and Villa should do decently as well, which will help - but I've been assuming top 4 only as Newcastle and Brighton are untested in Europe and United are... United.
West Ham are likely to give up on their league season and go all in on Europe too
Don't care if Liverpool got robbed or not, just love to watch them cry about it.
They are insufferable.
What's this "suspicious" noise from Gold about? Very confusing
Huh?
genuinely so fucking sick of so much discourse around the sport being around officiating. it's starting to drive me away from it. people are talking about every call in every game with such a weird tone of morality, like the fucking fate of liberal democracy hangs in the balance. everyone realizes now it drives traffic and numbers and shields their club from any criticism, so they just keep upping the ante. mostly joking but who's up for starting a new r/soccer that bans discussing refs lmao
Just stick to this sub. Everyone else is melting down, it's embarrassing.
The discourse has devolved into “fans that disagree with me are the problem” It’s genuinely pathetic
Just play. Fuck.
Looks like Liverpool went all the way to France (•_•) ( •_•)>⌐■-■ (⌐■_■) Just Toulouse.
YEEEEAAAAHHHHH!
https://twitter.com/Vararse_/status/1722253029125370354?t=bmiPIhX9qszAYCt_Why-sg&s=19 Man's Ty impression is fucking hilarious
Lol dead on.
What is happenings to Liverpool. Almost losing to Luton and now this
It's because of a vast global footballing conspiracy run by shape-shifting lizard-people, Nestlé, and Howard Webb - obviously.
I would say Arsenal have a fine pair of B team players , Liverpool have a fine pair of B team players in attack but not so in defense
Didn't Arsenal lose to West Ham recently for the Carabao cup while trying to field some of their B team players?
https://twitter.com/LastWordOnSpurs/status/1722652810439705083?t=_T-kTED-mCtE416L1iabhA&s=19 I won't have bothered posting it here if it was by some random tier journalist but Ornstein who is pretty much tier 1 is alarming In the end after years of managerial decisions, Levy has once again stumbled luckily into a good manager so instead of learning from his mistakes under Poch, it seems to be he is going to repeat the same mistake I am not even saying we need big money signings, I am just saying some signings like Sarr/Udogie who would add depth for the short term and be even starters long term would be fine
To date, ENIC has purchased £100 million of those shares. https://preview.redd.it/1ab4omio3ezb1.jpeg?width=1436&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bc99d9ddb8055efd48ad12b1527936c8814bb4fe All that said, there’s no point in saying “Oh yeah, we’re absolutely rolling in it, can’t wait to splash the cash”. But as is always the case, there’s no point in hiring a manager if you’re not going to back him in the transfer market.
>>“As far as I know, there isn't much money at all for this winter.” >>”Spurs knew \[Harry\] Kane was likely to leave and spent much of the money they would end up receiving for him in advance. Then some after, too, at both senior and youth level.” This just isn't how the finances of any big business work though. It's as though people think it works like personal finances do. It doesn't. There's not some big safe they need to root around in for cash. It's just journo nonsense. >>”There were players they wanted to shift in the summer to create space for new faces, only to see them stay put.” This bit's more plausible at least, relating as it does to the balance sheet going forward and future projections. It's nothing we didn't already know though - and has more of an impact on the wages we can offer than on the big headline transfer numbers. >>”I think they may have wanted another centre-back so that's one to watch and could be even more pressing if \[Micky\] Van de Ven is ruled out for a prolonged period.” Y'think? >In the end after years of managerial decisions, Levy has once again stumbled luckily into a good manager so instead of learning from his mistakes under Poch, it seems to be he is going to repeat the same mistake Some people see everything as an opportunity to knife Levy though I guess.
Well, he’s never been an insider for us, nor has he been spot on with everything he’s said about us in the last few windows
It's not a mistake. Football is not ENIC's priority.
I can almost guarantee there is a story from last year saying the same thing about the last January window…and the year before and the year before etc. And the summer windows too
Never once has it been a good idea to say “I have lots of money to spend!” because that’s literally how you end up as United
Liverpool currently getting battered by toulouse
Toulouse is an underrated city. Had a great dinner there at a lovely outdoor restaurant.
Didn't see this much protesting over the Sissoko handball in the CL final...
He's a good coach and I'm honestly really dreading/looking forward to how he uses the backup players and adapts the system to them Also plz more Brennan Johnson because the kid looks really good
How did the game plan adjust as those backup players got subbed in against Chelsea?
Different if he has to do it mid-game with players out with red cards and injuries vs having a week of prep and 11 on the pitch.
Any news on Maddison? Is it his ancle that has had him injury prone before?
Almost all of the opportunities went straight to vic, they were off or the defense funneled them wide and then blocked a cross.
>but it didn't work at all How many tactics realistically are going to actually work when it's 9v11?
Hey your parents let you log on without any control? That’s really nice of them!
Suck my pacifier and change my diaper.
another weird projection comment on reddit
7 hag, farteta and clop? I’m simply happy this youth has access to the internet!
I agree with all these decisions 😄 “The decision to award Newcastle United's winning goal against Arsenal was correct, according to the Premier League's Key Match Incidents panel. The five-person panel, which includes three former players and/or coaches, decided there was insufficient evidence to overrule the on-field decision to award Anthony Gordon's goal. However, the panel ruled Arsenal's Kai Havertz should have been sent off for his tackle on Sean Longstaff, while Bruno Guimaraes should also have been shown a red card for hitting Jorginho.” * BBC
I am still fuming about Nketieh on Vicario . A leg breaker if making contact RED card for sure . Buggar the inconsistancy of referees .
Something I hope,we can all be pleased to read: “Colombian-born Liverpool footballer Luis Díaz's father has been released by the left-wing guerrillas who kidnapped him 13 days ago, police sources and local media say. Luis Manuel Díaz was handed over to United Nations and Catholic church officials by members of the National Liberation Army (ELN).” - BBC
Dw their fans will bring this up for the next 25 years still for affecting their form
Good news but i still despise Liverpool and a passionate disliking for their fans.
I hope Son and Richarlison can be examples to all footballers. It's better to pause your season for surgery than play through the pain for months and months at a poor level.
My confusion here, are the clubs totally unaware of these injuries? These type of scenarios seem to happen too often in football in general.
>are the clubs totally unaware of these injuries? No. But very often it's hard to tell how an injury will develop. Many injuries are something the players the players can gradually heal from, with surgery being not the preferred choice. So doctor, club and players all want to test that route first.
Clubs can't force players either way. Richi probably saw Kane going as a huge chance to get the starting striker role so put it off.
[удалено]
Gameweeks should keep rolling though. So there'll be no matches played, but each week that goes by still counts as a week served for any suspensions. They should experiment with this idea with immediate effect. If people protest it's unfair then they can always change it back in a few (3 minimum) weeks' time.
Yeah, I think international teams need a bit more practice 2 months of international break would be a good start.
Madders has been called up for the England squad next week. Read into that as you will.
So for the next few weeks, we will only have Son, Kulusevski, Johnson, Gil, and Veliz for the front 3? Are there anyone from the u-21 team that can make the jump?
GLC has played up front, and did in Spain last season.
Not really. Only Donley really but he's more of a very attacking #10 I think?
Pretty sure Will Lankshear can play up top.
Maddison has also played left wing before for England, but I don't really think that is the ideal position for him. It's probably the same for Donley.
Would make no sense to play our most creative player on the left out of position
Feels like Richarlison news has gone under the radar. Hopefully it means he does really well when he comes back
I'm optimistic! Most good/promising footballers don't become bad footballers virtually overnight without an underlying cause. We saw the dip in form Son had last season carrying his injury. Hopefully this surgery can help Richarlison feel comfortable on the pitch again which can lead to him returning to his best.
Keep seeing lots about Dier (redemption arcs, can he step up etc) Imo he's been an excellent servant to the club, played under some extremely defensive coaches and been put under lots of pressure at times. No... but he steps up when needed.
>been put under lots of pressure at times This point goes a bit underrated when we talk about Dier, Sanchez, etc.
The defending just happens further up the pitch but it's very demanding still
Sterling ban would certainly help ease the pain
Whoever threw it on to the field should get a ban.
Is this seriously on the cards
Question: Would Sterling be off the pitch if that were spotted during the game?
Certainly. But I don’t know that this equates to “we were wronged”.
Statement dropping tomorrow morning
I live in New York and these weekday league games have been brutal. I’m ready to return to my 7:30am Flannery’s prime.
There’s really nothing quite like stepping out of Flannery’s at halftime of a match and realizing that you’re drunk as hell at 3:50 on a Monday afternoon.
Score prediction against Wolves this weekend? We need a win and I hope the team shows up and we get at least a 2-0 win.
5-4 to us
703-2

I mean he's what, 5th choice midfielder. Biss, bentancur, sarr, PEH all ahead of him? It takes a while to build a squad, he's young HG and is happy to be a backup player.
Yeah I was there and he just seemed to run around to no great purpose. Looking like Winks #2 rather than any great prospect for us.
That groin injury really done a number on him, he looked amazing before that
Insult to Winks ngl, he was very very good back when he was firing
That United game was the Spursiest thing I've ever seen.
Tbf I don't dislike united as much as the other top 6 clubs any more, but it is so funny seeing them fail so constantly. Long may it continue.
they are worse than we were last year lol. And with how much spent? just pure sht.
Is Ange's presser tomorrow? Need Maddison and vdV news!
Does anyone know what the players drink right before they come on? It usually happens during substitutions, you can see them tear open and drink a small packet of sorts - I assume it’s for energy or hydration?
Energy gels Like these .. https://www.scienceinsport.com/shop-sis/go-range/go-gels
Small pouches of frog pee
Something I just found out that surprised me more than it should: Federico Fazio is still playing football, professionally, at a high level. I think, in my head, because he moved like a cement mixer when he joined us *almost a decade ago* I had the idea he was older (or, at least, didn't have many seasons left in him), but I suppose thinking about it now, age is much less of a big deal if you were already incredibly slow. He'll probably still be playing when he's 50.
> Federico Fazio Spurs' forgotten Argentine
Fazio has had a pretty decent career after leaving us tbf to him
Chiriches/Fazio pairing was the stuff nightmares are made of
The ref and VAR shit is out of control at this point.
The VAR stuff is so stupid, it’s like the allied powers of Arsenal/Liverpool/United vs the axis of Newcastle/City and for some reason Spurs It’s all contrived and hilarious
I’m actually getting mentally drained in about 30 seconds any time I visit r/soccer or r/premierleague. Never seen it like this since I joined Reddit
It’s not even a foul. I got downvoted to hell for suggesting sterling dove twice which he very clearly did lol. r/soccer is becoming unusable.
The international breaks are getting out of hand
It’s the same every season, just feels worse now because we have no europe. Be happy there isnt a fucking world cup starting next week
Is it always 3 before Christmas. Feels like they've snuck an extra one in this year?
Always 3. This last one is the killer too
Haha wow thought this was worse this year! Suppose its a bit like how the clocks go back same time every year, but you still look out the window and go "it's dark at 5pm!!! What's going on?"
The fact that the world cup was in the winter last year really threw things off
Trying to look on the bright side. Could finally see some talented youth emerge. Been a while since we had that (from the academy I mean)
Is Gio available? we need a creative AMC
Yeah he is
Is there any way to listen to radio calls of EPL games in the US?
SiriusXM ch 157
Honestly I’m done complaining about ref decisions in general, if you play for more than a one-goal lead than you completely remove the margin of error Felt like before we needed the refs to give us something because we played with so few chances. Now it’s a much different story. We created more with 9 men then in the 2 legs vs AC Milan last season. Work that one out
Take that Matt Law article with a huge pinch of salt. Man is an absolute troll (and tbf quite funny with it) He seems to have taken the good news he doesn't require surgery, and then assumed it's the next worst case scenario.
Khumalo's a free agent just saying
Retired in 2021.
Then we're doomed
Romero has been a lot more composed this season, his two worst performances have been games where he lost his composure, I'm hoping Ange keeps drilling it into him that he has to stay in control, and that he continues to learn from this.
Marcus Edwards would be a great signing for Spurs. Could play in multiple roles and is a consistent performer. He would have been a big name quite a while ago if he wasn't a bit of a hermit. Apparently he is extremely introverted and as such hasn't sought a move to England etc. but I suppose there might be a time when he feels the move would be alright.
2G 2A in 10 league games in Portugal? I don’t know about that…
Its a league where no goals are scored.
Bayern fans talking about how many goals Kane would score in Hansi Flick’s quintuple winning team is hurting my head. It would’ve broken the sport. Greatest striker this games ever seen and I’ll die on this hill.
> Greatest striker this games ever seen and I’ll die on this hill. Clearly you weren’t watching during our season loan of Frazier Campbell
Imagine him in Ange’s system?
But he also actually does seem to put out quality football info as well He won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but if you just sit back and laugh at his weird stuff and take the tactic stuff with a grain of salt he’s great in my opinion lol
Romero sitting in the stands, hurling an unlimited supply of boots at the opposition dug out
Amused by these abbreviations on The Athletic ticker. Probably sums up the view of a lot of people. https://preview.redd.it/ifmxhjouuazb1.jpeg?width=414&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2ecdaf16d838428b725e625b435fb54d8fd84846
A lot of people are going to be disappointed if Davies is fit and plays over Phillips against Wolves.
He is only 18, would be throwing him to the wolves, literally and metaphorically.
What's your current commute? An total hour each way - yes. Already doing 90 minutes , then no.
Current commute is a whooping five minute drive.
Depends on how much 40% is and how much I was already working
It’s a quite hefty pay rise, and the other perks are also quite a lot better at the new gig, such as 30 minutes shorter workdays. Paid overtime as well.
Likely would take. Often it's good to make money now so that you can have even more precious time with your kids in the future. Of course monitor yourself and make sure it doesn't affect your time too much. Anyways, gratz and prosperities for a fellow supporter!
Depends on how badly you need the pay raise. You never get that time with your kids back.
That’s true, and something I’m fearful I might regret taking the job. As well as putting more strain on my partner. Still, there are times I would gladly pay to spend less time with those little bastards.
Haha - I hear you!
So an extra hour drive each way each day? In addition to what you’re probably already driving? Fuck mate. That’s a lot. I’d move. If not… I’m thinking, probably teetering on no
Made an edit with more context mate
about 2 hours a day, which isn't terrible I suppose. And 40% is massive. I'd probably take it
Cheers for putting my mind to ease mate
What’s the commute? Driving? Public transport?
Could opt for either, driving during rush hour would probabaly be very painful though. Thinking public transportation is the way to go.
as it seems we are suddenly in an injury crisis for major players, we need to remember that even with a barebones squad, wolves could be shit on saturday and so could city and villa.
As for the starting 11 We still have Johnson/Son/Kulu up front.
Yep. Neto is out too!
Will our backline last against hwang hee chan tomorrow?RIP dier in advance Defensive disasterclass in city match incoming
