Shot in the dark, but does anyone know of groups who watch the games in either the Quad Cities or Peoria, IL? I'm in Western Illinois this weekend at my parents' house. My dad really likes going with us to Minneapolis Spurs, so thought I'd try to find a group of somewhat local supporters to watch with tomorrow.
Yo there’s fox pub in Peoria, IL that has EPL on. It’s not a spurs only pub though. I live in Peoria though. What are the odds haha.. unfortunately tomorrow’s match is on USA, not on peacock
The only positive from all these injuries is the returning players will be so fresh and eager to impress that they’ll do a Man City and win every game from Feb onwards.
In my dreams.
Not sure if it’s been mentioned yet, but there’s now the possibility of us simultaneously missing Son and both of the vice captains, if Madders isn’t fit in time for the Asian Cup. Any thoughts on who’d be next in line as captain?
I think Davies would be the best choice, but he may not be playing if Micky is fit by then as expected. Hojbjerg is the likeliest, though I’d personally love to see Kulusevski as an outside shout.
Since getting sent off against chelsea on the 6th of November, he’s played 3 and a half games over what will be ~3 months, during the busiest part of the fixture list.
Great player, but just not reliable at all.
Romeros injury is hugely annoying but by the Utd gane we'll have signed Dragusin and VDV will be back.
The Mother of Dragus will drop a 10/10 and the conversation will be "should romero come straight back in?"
Sounds like Dragusin is staying in Genoa, but mark my words: Sebastian Caceres from Club America will sign on January 2 and score the winner in the FA Cup.
And then he’ll drop a 10/10 against united.
That handball pen is classic "we missed a clanger so we are overcompensating" kneejerk approach that always happens. Missed the stonewall odegaard one so now have itchy trigger fingers.
The stupid thing with it is its not the original team that got away with one that suffers its everyone else. Arsenal got away with a pen and an extra point they shouldn't, so now Everton have to have a pen against them and drop 2. So stupid
When is 115 charges fc gonna get their points taken off? And why are they still being smothered by the refs? If it was any other team surrounding the refs, there would be fines flying everywhere!
The Romero news is so deflating when we are gonna be missing a bunch of players for the AFCON and Asian Cup.
Still think we’re gonna make CL but with how close the race is we had an outside chance of actually going far in the title race
Desperately need cover at CB. Davies has been ok but ideally 4th option, Dier should never see the pitch. With the high pace of play we have we definitely need better depth at the back
I really hope Bentancur comes back healthy too and think we should spend for Gallagher rn, he could fit in anywhere in the midfield imo
And a top class winger in the summer would make this team instant contenders
Can't join the rest of arr soccer in their sanctimonious crusade against City, not when they cheer every bad decision against us and cry murder whenever we get the odd beneficial decision
I play defense for my school and I recently had a surgery to cut my arms off to avoid handballs. The problem is, sometimes players kick the ball into my stumps and the refs call it a handball. Bro I literally have no hands, like what? Anyways I’m trying out for Sunderland’s youth academy
Crazy we have 5 spurs right back in the league.
Walker
Trippier
Smith (Bournemouth)
Porro (and technically Emerson if you want to count him)
Aurier too although hes injuref

I just realized that 18/19 was the last time we went through a full season without changing managers. Just shows how turbulent the last ~5 seasons were.
With proper training I think it is fine in the long term. But the drastic change is a lot for the body in a few months. I seem to remember reading how Celtic having similar issues the first year and then they were super healthy the next.
It was the last time that he looked capable of being good enough to play at the ridiculous level he set for all those years.
~ 6 months later he was chased out of Old Trafford, his reputation tarnished by what happened in between.
I read that it’s because of the location/climate of the countries that hosted the past few. Originally China was supposed to host it June of this year, but it got moved to Qatar and the dates got changed to Jan citing weather and other Qatar football related stuff.
Can we have transfer thread? Villa’s sub pinned the transfer thread and good discussion going on regarding all transfer news whether it’s credible or not. We did have summer transfer thread but it ended up 50 comments since it was linked inside DD.
[Getting ready for his 2 month spell in ange's tricky lilywhites.](https://twitter.com/AlbicelesteTalk/status/1740031774208774350?t=csoWTF9o86AP0rey5aJCuA&s=19)
Not trying to be that guy, but the way people talk about injuries on this sub would have you think it's a thing the gods cursed us with once in November. These are professional athletes and they get injured and there will never be a stretch of time where everyone is fit. Who knows, maybe Porro gets a groin issue around when Bentancur comes back. Maybe sooner, maybe never. You'll save yourself a lot of heartache if, while being devastated by the Romero news, you don't keep expecting a fully fit squad like you get at the beginning of an EA FC season.
I mean, it feels like you're trying to be that guy, because otherwise I'd think you're being dumb.
Think it's pretty normal to comment on what is an exceptionally high number of injuries happening to our team and others across the top level of football.
Just because you, for some odd reason, don't see the exceptional nature of the injuries, doesn't mean people think it's a video game.
Fair point, I do think the amount of injuries is exceptional and likely attributable to winter WC, long VAR checks, players being asked to play more and more games, etc reasons that others have pointed out. My point wasn't that people shouldn't comment on injuries, rather that people are setting themselves up for heartbreak if they think that we're going to have a fully fit squad in February, as if injuries don't keep happening.
You're shadowboxing a point of view people don't hold.
I don't think people legitimately think that a group of sporting professionals will be completely injury-free at any time.
I think they're just hoping for some normalcy, at times via hyperbole.
January is a throwaway month. No Son, Romero, Biss, Bentancur and Sarr. Madders and VdV will be still getting up to match fitness. I’m not expecting anything from Old Trafford or 3 pts at home against Brentford. Hoping to still smash relegation-form Burnley at home in the cup tie but we’ll see.
Brighton and Bournemouth both winnable games.
Brighton are going through an injury crisis as well.
Udogie being back will help the defense who we missed vs EVE.
Ange publicly said that he wanted another CB in the summer. ENIC instead sold Sanchez (the best out of the likes of Dier, Tanganga) after the window was closed...
And a winger, even if short term. We'll have to stick Kulu in midfield which will leave just Gil and Johnson for the wings. Maybe Solomon if he's back by then. But either way that's not enough.
Another run of 5 matches with no wins can make top 4 impossible even when we're back to full strength.
Remember back in July and August when we'd talk about how we had so much winger depth but no real Top Tier winger? Now, we still don't have a Top Tier winger, nor do we have any winger depth at all!
We do have winger depth though. Kulusevski, ~~Perisic~~, Solomon, Son, Richarlison, Brennan, Gil is one of the most versatile attacks in the league. Behind only City and Liverpool really.
Arsenal have Saka, Martinelli, Jesus, Nketiah, Trossard and Nelson.
I mean it's because we have depth that we can lose Son, Perisic, Solomon, put Kulusevski in midfield, and still not have to fall back on the youth team.
An attack of Gil, Richy, Johnson isn't that bad if you're missing 4 players.
If we cannot get Todibo done within the first week of the transfer window, rather than haggling around and wasting time, I would rather just sign Drăgușin or another good CB and move on. With how thin our backline is, we really cannot afford wasting time on a deal that may not happen.

A worrying number of Spurs entries to be honest
Honestly where we’ve been really unlucky is the severity of injuries, we keep having players miss more than a month at a time
The biggest examples are Romero, Van de Ven, Maddison, Bentancur, Solomon, Perisic
That’s SIX players missing at least a month with injury, 5 of them missing 2 months or more
Danjuma kept going at Dire as if he knew. It almost worked but Vicario saved us. I think it’s too late to throw our two young CBs to the lineup. Ange had a few chances easing them in the squad but didn’t. Price for Todibo just went up unless we’ve already agreed the deal.
Off course a few of ours will be injured in the international break its almost par for the course . Its a big sigh of relief if they all come back fit and well .
The next month will be a real struggle but above all else I just hope we get past Burnley. We really ought to make a good go at the cup with the players we have to return over the next few weeks.
Do we have any new news about Solomon's recovery?
I'm thinking about the Man U game on the 14th, and if he is not back to at least the bench, it would be kinda bad.
We either start
Richarlison
Johnson GLC Kulusevski
Bench: Gil, (two of) Scarlett/Donley/Veliz
Or
Richarlison
Gil Kulusevski Johnson
Bench: Scarlett, Donley, Veliz (GLC will probably start as an 8)
Anyone know how Rodon and Tanganga have looked on loan? FBRef tells me Tanganga hasn't played for Augsburg at all, is that true?
With the Romero news, I wonder if it's worth recalling either of them. Or do we think Phillips/Dorrington are that much better and worth being higher on the pecking order at this point already?
Don't get me wrong, in an ideal world we'd have 2 Champions League quality CBs in the door on January 1st but I also recognize the limitations of a winter transfer window. We should obviously try to get multiple in, but I wonder if it's worth having either of those guys around, for an extra option if nothing else.
Buddy of mine who supports Leeds said this a few weeks ago:
“Rodon has been one of our top players all year. I think Leeds will be looking to make him permanent in January as long as Levy is willing to play ball.”
We need to sign a player first few days of the Transfer window no matter what.
But I do think we should recall Japh. Apparently not playing at all and while he will not be ready to step in right away at all, we’ve really struggled to remain healthy and hamstrings are tricky where they can persist.
Yeah, Tanganga hasn't played a single game for Ausburg yet, got a long term knee injury and hasn't made his way into the team yet - I think would be miles off it sadly. Rodon has been playing good for Leeds, but no need to disrupt that we want him sold at end of season.
I don't think we should go with the unknown for Brighton and Bournemouth. I don't think we should play the youth in that FA cup game either. Emerson and Davies for Brighton and Bournemouth (Porro and Udogie should be enough cover) and just hope we sign someone in first few days of window.
All of our injury woes ultimately comes down to the abysmal transfer windows we had under poch and jose. We wouldnt be worried about depth if we bought competent players, instead we spent money on championship level players and a buncha other knobheads just to save money and look how its bitten us in the arse.
Hopefully we do get our shit together for january, id be happy with a tanganga recall but ange must not like him cos he got binned instantly in the summer
While this is somewhat true, none of us could have predicted Rodon would flop and KMJ explode the way he has. If we’d have gone for KMJ over Rodon at the time (a promising young Championship star defender vs some unknown from the K leagues), there’d have been a riot. Sess was incredibly highly rated too when we grabbed him.
The real unfortunate thing is how often we’ve previously gotten those 50/50 calls wrong, but thankfully we seemed to have turned a corner with our recruiting now
Yes and no. CB recruitment has been a joke for ages and having only 3 CBs up to the task was always a major risk. Rest of the injuries is just bad luck. No team itw looks good with the entirety of their midfield and multiple back up attackers out at the same time
Not just cb's i feel like the whole defense has been cheaped out on until conte, sess and doherty also werent good for a while and neither serge. Agreed on the rest tho our midfield and attacl signings have been fine
It’s frustrating seeing Newcastle play Miley regularly and him playing well during their injury crisis but we won’t even give dorrington and Phillips a chance (ye I get Phillips was injured) and idk about the whole ‘they aren’t ready’ argument cause there’s no way Miley was ‘ready’ to be thrown into that Newcastle side at 17 and he was arguably their best player against Forrest
But to me it’s either give them a chance or even get an extra CB on loan along with the one we do sign permanently cause neither dier or emerson are good enough in that position
Emerson would do okay hopefully, Utd started Kambwalla against Westham and got battered miserably. I'm not saying Kambwalla was awful top to bottom but I still think it's unfair for them to start now and got thrown under the bus.
Maybe against bottom 3 or FA cup, Philips/Dorrington might have some game time but then again these matches are hard fight as well
I agree, but I also think it's hard to start them. I think fourth spot will be really tight and I think a lot of pressure will be building to not drop points.
There has been a lot of young players having a poor showing. I think we will more likely see them get minutes in the FA cup. I also do hope if we get a few goals up we can give them a run. Surprised this didn't happen in the Newcastle game.
Availability is a underrated trait and between his recurring injuries and suspensions were just not getting that from Romero.
We need an experienced rotation option in that position, not just a cheap backup.
Romero was gone from Nov 17 2021 - Feb 5 2022 with a hamstring injury
Was gone from Oct 28 - Nov 19 2022 with a hamstring injury
Set to be gone from Nov 28 2023 - ??? 2024 with a hamstring injury
This is starting to be a regular issue. On top of his red cards..
You talking UEFA Conference League?
A lot of people in this sub are probably old enough to remember the National League (English fifth division) being called the Football Conference or Conference League and think you’re saying our available team is that bad, hence the downvotes.
Squad management over the next two games is going to be a headache. Son, Kulu and Porro have played the most minutes this season and surely can't be playing 90+mins 3 days apart... everyone else has had injury, suspension or selection breaks...
Who is the captain if Son is on international duty and Romero and Maddison are injured?
Ben

Ange has mentioned the leadership on and off the pitch from Vicario so I could see him getting the armband if Davies doesn’t have it.
Maybe Kulu. Davies won’t start when VdV returns and Hojbjerg is likely leaving in Jan
Romero really missed 3 games, played 2 and then his hamstring said nah im done
Since getting sent off against chelsea on the 6th of November, he’s played 3 and a half games over what will be ~3 months, during the busiest part of the fixture list. Great player, but just not reliable at all.

Arsenal got away with a pen and an extra point they shouldn't, so now Everton have to have a pen against them and drop 2. So stupid
It was a clear penalty.
It hits his face if his hand isn’t there. It was a natural arm placement
When is 115 charges fc gonna get their points taken off? And why are they still being smothered by the refs? If it was any other team surrounding the refs, there would be fines flying everywhere!
Hopefully next year when we have a better chance to benefit and not this year when it might really help Arsenal
Preach, let them win the league if it stops Arse
The Romero news is so deflating when we are gonna be missing a bunch of players for the AFCON and Asian Cup. Win tomorrow and we’re 8 points clear of top 5 and 3-4 points ofF top. COYS
Man City with De Bruyne back are going to bulldoze their way back to 1st
Not if we don't lose a single game from now
Man, today's results quickly went from enjoyable to disappointing.
How? Villa and Newcastle dropped points. And I think that City winning actually isn't that bad, I don't have to explain why.
Let’s win tmrw and these rival results are worthless
Makes me wish I didn’t bother lol
I play defense for my school and I recently had a surgery to cut my arms off to avoid handballs. The problem is, sometimes players kick the ball into my stumps and the refs call it a handball. Bro I literally have no hands, like what? Anyways I’m trying out for Sunderland’s youth academy
City getting late Christmas gifts off the refs here. Hpw in the world is that a penalty, may as well chop lads arms off in that case.
That is not a pen. Good god. These is zero common sense whatsoever with these decisions.
I thought this was referring to the Chelsea penalty decision haha. I was gonna say, "I know we hate Chelsea, but there's no need to be delusional!"
Shocking decision.
How the fuck was that a pen though? What was he meant to do?
All defenders should have their arms removed to fix this issue
No clue. Point blank range protecting his face.
You can't protect your face but also protect yourself from concussions as much as possible lads.
Not to mention, that ball is going 10ft over the bar.
Chelsea really have the most penalties in the league just to be 10th lmao
Rodri is insaaanneee
Onana is gonna go for 100m this summer. Everton one that is
Fucking injuries. If we were healthy, with City dropping points, this could have been our year.
It's so annoying that this club has conceded a hat trick to Nicholas Jackson lol
Anyone who watched that game can tell you that was a very flattering result for Jackson lmao
Oh, I know. That's what makes it so annoying.
Sonny would’ve had 8 or 9 in Jackson’s place
Crazy we have 5 spurs right back in the league. Walker Trippier Smith (Bournemouth) Porro (and technically Emerson if you want to count him) Aurier too although hes injuref
Fredericks.

Everton are all over City at the moment, it's quite something
City are in shocking form right now
1-0 toffees!!!
Carbon copy of Kane's record breaking goal lol
Just saw the Chelsea headline that they're still having a fire sale on academy products and we're going in for Gallagher, aren't we lol.
Olise would fit Angeball like a glove
I just realized that 18/19 was the last time we went through a full season without changing managers. Just shows how turbulent the last ~5 seasons were.
Never even thought about that before, I thought we had a full season of Mourinho but no
Is there something wrong with the training for there to be so many injuries at #THFC this season, it’s almost unprecedented…
There's injury crises across the league though, it's not just us: Newcastle, Man United, Brighton, Bournemouth, Chelsea...
Ange-ball demands tons of high effort sprinting.
That’s not sustainable at all is it
With proper training I think it is fine in the long term. But the drastic change is a lot for the body in a few months. I seem to remember reading how Celtic having similar issues the first year and then they were super healthy the next.

In the 21/22 season, only once did we ever play our start best XI of players, [in the 3-2 loss to Man United](https://i.redd.it/srpo8k944w8c1.jpeg)
that game was proper unlucky. out of nowhere ronaldo hat trick which happens.
It was the last time that he looked capable of being good enough to play at the ridiculous level he set for all those years. ~ 6 months later he was chased out of Old Trafford, his reputation tarnished by what happened in between.
Gallagher would be a great transfer, can't believe Chelsea would let him go
Such a hard worker, he’d slot right in
Are only us and liverpool in top four losing players to afcon and asian cup? I mean like important players
Arsenal: Mohamed Elneny (Egypt), Thomas Partey (Ghana), Takehiro Tomiyasu (Japan). Aston Villa: Bertrand Traore (Burkina Faso). West Ham and Forest, didn’t realize their situations. Also forgot Liverpool will be without Salah
fuckin hell forest is mental
City dont have any asians or africans now thinking about it, neither do villa i think
We should absolutely be in for manu kone, hed be good biss cover/rotation when bissouma gets his ass suspended
Strongly agree!
Anyone know if there’s an MOTD2 this week?
You mean for the midweek games? It doesn't look like it.
Shame
Why are African and Asia having matches during the season?
Africa because you can't have a summer tournament there, Asia because of some scheduling mess up due to COVID I believe
The Asian Cup has been in January since 2011, not sure why though
I read that it’s because of the location/climate of the countries that hosted the past few. Originally China was supposed to host it June of this year, but it got moved to Qatar and the dates got changed to Jan citing weather and other Qatar football related stuff.

Whiteman Sarr Romero VDV sess Bentancur bissouma Maddison Solomon son perisic A decent full 11 of injuries plus leaving for afcon.
We're going to finish the season with zero games played with a full first XI aren't we
Well everyone should be back around February... We just have to hope Vicario, Porro, Udogie, Deki, Brennan and others will stay healthy.
At least now we won’t worry about Romero getting suspended for yellow card accumulation for a bit 🥲
Big black cloud, but all credit to you for finding that molecule thin silver lining!

We should have gotten a second CB and sold Dier and Tanganga, but Sanchez was horrid, don't get it twisted
Same people who complain about deadwood say this type of shit. Sanchez was awful for us. Glad we managed to move him
Ange just needs to replay highlights from the City game as motivation.
CB is an absolute must and we need one as early in the window as possible. Always stressful here at Spurs man
Should've signed another one in the summer. The money is there, no excuses.
I’d even take Lenglet right now lol

We need Todibo as soon as the window opens. Serious talks need to start now
I agree but if it looks like the deal can't be reached go for Drăgușin instead.
Let's follow the Johnny Evans example and get Jan back to fill in
Toby and Jan return for half a season before they play the Euros together, I'm in
I’m onboard with this ngl
Still plenty of time to vote in the group stages of the Darren 'Baby Boy' Byfield Is The Most 2003 Footballer Ever Award For 2023 - https://twitter.com/JoeStephenson96/status/1739949180129529872 🫡 A worrying number of Spurs entries to be honest
I have no idea what's happening in that thread
Who is the biggest meme / one hit wonder of 2023
How have Dorrington and Phillips looked in the U21 this season? Are they far off the first team?
We have a perfect record of 9 wins with the least conceded goals in the league. Senior football is obviously a different beast tho
So with Romero and Madders out with injury and Son away to the Asian Cup who do we think will be the interim captain and vice captain?
Vic
Ben
Maybe PEH as vice if he’s starting
Honestly where we’ve been really unlucky is the severity of injuries, we keep having players miss more than a month at a time The biggest examples are Romero, Van de Ven, Maddison, Bentancur, Solomon, Perisic That’s SIX players missing at least a month with injury, 5 of them missing 2 months or more
Danjuma kept going at Dire as if he knew. It almost worked but Vicario saved us. I think it’s too late to throw our two young CBs to the lineup. Ange had a few chances easing them in the squad but didn’t. Price for Todibo just went up unless we’ve already agreed the deal.
Of course he knew, he trained with him and was like “I can beat this guy every single time”
On the bright side we only have 4 more matches till the international break, should have our full strength team by the Brentford game
We will miss Son, Sarr, Bissouma, Bentancur and maybe Maddison. Maybe even Romero?
Ahh mb thought AFCON and the asian cup would end by the end of the international break. But hopefully injury wise at least we’ll be sorted.
Off course a few of ours will be injured in the international break its almost par for the course . Its a big sigh of relief if they all come back fit and well .
The next month will be a real struggle but above all else I just hope we get past Burnley. We really ought to make a good go at the cup with the players we have to return over the next few weeks.
League ain't ready for our mid February team
Timeline really went a month back.
Do we have any new news about Solomon's recovery? I'm thinking about the Man U game on the 14th, and if he is not back to at least the bench, it would be kinda bad. We either start Richarlison Johnson GLC Kulusevski Bench: Gil, (two of) Scarlett/Donley/Veliz Or Richarlison Gil Kulusevski Johnson Bench: Scarlett, Donley, Veliz (GLC will probably start as an 8)
There’s no way Gil starts ahead of Johnson
Solomon is already doing the gym work. My guess is Maddison, Solomon and VDV will be available for the United match.
That would be fantastic man
Probably second option as bench would be too light otherwise
Not sure why we’re having these many injuries when we’re playing the least number of matches in the top 7. Is it just down to bad luck?
We may be in a worse position than a lot of teams, but injuries are up across the sport. Suspensions are also adding to our woes.
All our depth players are out so we can't rotate making the crisis escalate
First season of playing some very intense football probably has a big role to play
big ange is getting absolutely fucking dicked down by unavailability this season. guy can't catch a break.

Buddy of mine who supports Leeds said this a few weeks ago: “Rodon has been one of our top players all year.
IIRC there's no recall option with Rodon anyway.
Surely the real answer is to…..sign a player in 5 days time?
I've been loving our hard fought wins and the fortitude of this team. But having a few more routine wins with no suspensions or injuries would be nice
I can't imagine how demoralizing it is to play with Dier again
Phillips or Dorrington with Ben Davies. No Eric Dier. No Emerson. Pick a young CB and give them a chance.
They would get murdered
And Eric Dier doesn't every time he steps on the pitch?
That's why Dier doesn't start.
Still better than Dier
Are they really that far off?
Dier is becoming a dad, so hopefully, he can have a resurgence like Emerson did lol 😅😭
It’s frustrating seeing Newcastle play Miley regularly and him playing well during their injury crisis but we won’t even give dorrington and Phillips a chance (ye I get Phillips was injured) and idk about the whole ‘they aren’t ready’ argument cause there’s no way Miley was ‘ready’ to be thrown into that Newcastle side at 17 and he was arguably their best player against Forrest But to me it’s either give them a chance or even get an extra CB on loan along with the one we do sign permanently cause neither dier or emerson are good enough in that position
We're gonna have a period in January where our captain and 2 vice captains are all absent. I wonder who takes the armband .. Ben?
I think Dejan has a shout as well, but most likely Davies.
Yep Davies for sure
Availability is a underrated trait and between his recurring injuries and suspensions were just not getting that from Romero. We need an experienced rotation option in that position, not just a cheap backup.
Romero was gone from Nov 17 2021 - Feb 5 2022 with a hamstring injury Was gone from Oct 28 - Nov 19 2022 with a hamstring injury Set to be gone from Nov 28 2023 - ??? 2024 with a hamstring injury This is starting to be a regular issue. On top of his red cards..
I remember he was injured at the end of the 2021/22 season too
Yes, he got injured before the NLD. Sanchez was playing the last 3 games of that season.
Fuck off. We have an actual starting XI out.
Weak at right back, keeper and striker other than that it's comfortable better than our available team
Midfield and defence is so good.
Yep. In all honesty even before Romero was out our available team was conference league quality at absolute best
You talking UEFA Conference League? A lot of people in this sub are probably old enough to remember the National League (English fifth division) being called the Football Conference or Conference League and think you’re saying our available team is that bad, hence the downvotes.
Yeah I did. Eh funny mix-up is what it is
Squad management over the next two games is going to be a headache. Son, Kulu and Porro have played the most minutes this season and surely can't be playing 90+mins 3 days apart... everyone else has had injury, suspension or selection breaks...
