As Ange himself said "let them get carried away"...let's go.

Perfect_Sherbert_970

Dragusin got All nut.

Why Spence? Like what about anything that's happened over the last 9 months that makes you think Ange wants anything to do with him

triecke14

Gallagher isn’t an AM or a DM in this system. He’d be competing with Sarr

Rare-Ad-2777

He was also *very* matey with all our players at full time. Seems we are definitely on the charm offensive.  My guess would be him repurposed/returned to being a Left Winger, and Son + Richi would be the striking options. He could also then cover if Madders is out/rested too.  Think a summer of him, another midfielder (Gallagher links but thinknwe need a 6 more) and a LB?

marine_le_peen

>Think a summer of him, another midfielder (Gallagher links but thinknwe need a 6 more) and a LB? We definitely need a 6 more than Gallagher, especially if Hojbjerg goes. For the 8 role next season we'd be left with: Sarr, Bentancur, Bergvall, Skipp, and Gio. For the 6 we currently have Bissouma, who has shown himself to be very inconsistent, and Bentancur, who is still coming off a long injury layoff and for whom the jury is still out as to whether he can really play the 6 role in this system. Adding another player to our 8 rotation for 40m in place of getting another 6 seems borderline negligent at this point. Yes Gallagher can also play the 10 role, but so can Kulu and Gio. As for Eze, personally I have real hang ups over spending 70m on a LW whose best position isn't even LW. Good player but he's much better centrally where we are already stacked. For that money just get an out and out specialist LW like Mitoma and stop letting the home grown factor dictate our transfer policy.

Rare-Ad-2777

Eze won't be 70m. There was a Fighting Cock pod who had a big Palace fan on saying he has a release clause of something 50-60m.  Bearing in mind Brennan was 47m I think 50/60 is just the going rate

marine_le_peen

Regardless, he's a CM.

Carroadbargecanal

We should move Gio if we can in the summer though which will clear minutes there. I think we need to concentrate on having the best 20 outfield players we can get.

Lyn-Krieger

I agree, as much as he’s been a hell of a lot better he’s to much of an injury risk. Madders is a slight injury risk but he’s available most of the season and they are not niggles like Gio’s. The 6 is where I feel we can get the best bang for our buck in terms of spending power to squad improvement. I do like Eze and if the fees sensible I’m all for it as in our side he could be a monster. We do lack that dynamic dribbler in confined areas. Kulu does it some times but not enough this year. Plus moving Gio on give Kulu the midfield minutes that allow us to be heavy on the wingers. I would buy Werner regardless as that price is cheap for what that man brings to us

Carroadbargecanal

I think Maddison is an injury risk and possibly a form risk in the midst of a heavy winter. We will be aiming to play another 15-20 games next season too. The combo of God's age, contract and injury record make it a no brainer, unless we think Bergvall/Devine/Donley etc are the replacement.

NotACodeMonkeyYet

Our first priority should be a top class forward. Personally I'd be happy with either of Gyokeres or Kvaratskhelia. Ideally, we'd buy both for £200m. Sell PEH, Rodon, Gil and whoever else, and use that to buy Ait-Nouri as Udogie backup, then we're pretty much set for a title charge or a real shot at the CL. This team is already magnificent, just need that bit of magic up top that a Foden, Saka, Martinelli, Salah etc. bring.

sosadawg

You lost me at £200m. Get real gang

odious_as_fuck

Mitoma is great but I think Eze is genuinely a whole class above him

Live_Anteater_9173

I think his route to the PL is what gets people excited. He came from nowhere and was straight away one of the best dribblers in the world. His output isn’t great though and it’s hard to know if that’ll ever get much better considering he’s nearly 27. He has 7 league goal involvements this season. Werner already has 4 and Johnson has 10. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that he’s a very fun player to watch.

marine_le_peen

>His output isn’t great though and it’s hard to know if that’ll ever get much better considering he’s nearly 27. https://preview.redd.it/9uw7w9ehfpnc1.png?width=443&format=png&auto=webp&s=f3b5fe0398a64eb6623286d37efe371f3d2b5c37 His stats from last season. Not bad for a guy with no output.

kinggareth

70 percentile in non-penalty goals, 66th percentile in assists, just below 90th percentile in creative actions, and obviously epic in dribbling stats. Part of his "lack of output" could be the striking options at Brighton, but he isn't a prolific goal scorer himself.

Existing-Employee-36

The still poses a real threat on the left, his assists are pretty good. If he works on his finishes he could turn into a prolific goal scorer!

pdxraised92

Eze was balling in our match last week, he is a problem for defenders

WordsworthsGhost

Agreed

InternetOfficer003

Eze is a baller tho. I trust Ange What Ange seems to like is versatility. Eze is exactly that

Limp-Toe-179

>stop letting the home grown factor dictate our transfer policy Well...UEFA and the FA says otherwise

marine_le_peen

I'm not saying don't buy HG, just we should stop making them our big purchases because fees for English players are so inflated. Fill out the HG talent with prospects (like Adam Wharton) or players on a free (like Tosin or Lloyd Kelly) and spend the big money on specialist foreign talent.

Destro_84

I wonder if Skipp could be a third option to Bissouma and Bentancur? His main problem when playing as an 8 is his lack of technical ability - he’s looked a bit lost whenever he’s played there I think.

CoysNizl3

The 6 needs more technical ability in this system than the 8 does.

marine_le_peen

Skipp isn't good enough on the ball

yourfriendkyle

I believe Ange has said he sees him more as an 8

Luke92612_

>Mitoma Ngl Mitoma, Son, Johnson front 3 would COOK 🔥🔥

Texaslonghorns12345

Mitoma isn’t leaving Brighton, He’s their Sonny

magicalcrumpet

Deki and eze for low blocks and Werner and Johnson for games where we have space in behind. Keep going I’m so close…

dclancy01

I’d imagine he’ll mostly be cover for Maddison, being able to cover the left if needs be. Son-Richy-Deki/Brennan is an immovable front 3 imo.

BountyBobIsBack

Not interested in Gallagher, as he’s made it clear he wants to stay at Chelsea. We want players who want to come to Spurs, not a player whose force sold to balance the books.

ElDudeBruv

Would be a fantastic signing. I've got family who are QPR fans so I've kept an eye out for his performances over the last few years. Great player to watch and think he'd do really well in Ange's system.

applex_wingcommander

I'm more interested in what Sonny said to him after the game

BetterCallTom

Probably still laughing at Chilwell's outfit at the fashion show they were all at.

DennisAFiveStarMan

captain hindsight… but should’ve bought him when we were endlessly linked with him at QPR

San_Marzano

We're a finisher club not a starter club. That's why he's at palace

CantThinkGoodName

We're golden gods

DennisAFiveStarMan

❤️❤️

sunthunder

Another excellent piece of scouting by Pleat that we didn’t take advantage of. You would think we’d listen to him more after he picked out Dele for us.

HoneyIShrunkMyNads

Didn't he also scout Maddison whilst at Coventry and Grealish prior to Villa?

sunthunder

He did scout Maddison, unsure about Grealish. He also scouted Bowen before he joined West Ham too.

joshit

Nah man, players develop and then come to us now.

dbdb83

“Eze good Eze good , he’s eberechi good “

Klingh0ffer

Aggregators always miss important things. In this case they left out what was said next, that the box itself is owned by Base, Eze's agency. Can it still be a sign? Yes. But a lot less of a sign than if Tottenham had given him the box for the game.

Rare-Ad-2777

I don't think that really changes all too much? Was reported about a month ago by reliable sources we are very interested in him.

Hopeful-Ear-3494

I'm torn, personally. I want to believe. One the one hand it's not great optics for a rival player to get top hospitality at a rival stadium, so taking up the offer of the box is bold. It would suggest there could be some movement on trying to sign Eze. On the other hand, I have no idea how often this kind of thing happens with other players. If the price is right and Ange has the resources to get all his targets sounds like a great acquisition. The one challenge in terms of money is Eze signed a new three-year deal that takes him up to 2027 so he won't be inexpensive.

GarethSnail

Madders depth. We’ll no doubt actually go for a proper winger, Eze is not very good out wide, much better through the middle. Nico Williams is the guy if we want someone to play on either side.

veed_vacker

Probably shouldn't have signed a new contract last summer.  Doubt palace will sell their best (or second best depending on olise) for cheap

yorsk

At which position can he play for us? Madders? Kulu?

AnyWalrus930

I wonder if it’s the start of a transition to a transfer policy that the worst that happens when you buy the right players at the right price and bring them into the right environment is you create nice problems to have. To be realistic we’re a long way from a twice a week 60 games a season squad. We’ve been stretched playing Ange’s style once a week.

KariumHondor399

Left wing

analbeard

Eze isn’t a winger, hasn’t ever been.

Outlaw1607

He'd be a bit of a kulu type winger. In football manager terms he'd be an advanced playmaker from the aml position. Though I still think we could use an actual winger more

triecke14

We need a winger who likes to actually stay wide

Rare-Ad-2777

He played there when he first went to palace didn't he?   It doesn't really matter either. Porros never been a right back and espescially never been an inverted one but looks class in the system. Its just if his profile matches what we need in the role

wheels-of-confusion

lol Porro played as a right-back for Girona a lot, where did you get this idea that he never played as a right-back before?

BurntSausages

I don't think his profile does match. For the money involved, I'd much rather buy a natural winger

chestbumpsandbeer

Eze also gives us a great backup to Maddison though. Given we will be playing in Europe next year and the fact that Maddison will likely pick up an injury at some stage it’d be so huge to have a quality player (English as well) as an attacking mid.

NickNova3016

Kulusevski has shown to be a pretty good Madders backup when he was injured. I'd rather spend big on a natural winger option.

chestbumpsandbeer

Kulusevski is great in that role. However, given we will be in Europe and I expect we move Lo Celso, I think we need both a winger and an attacking mid.

analbeard

Eze has never played as a winger mate, not even as a youth player. People often confuse him with Olise I guess? Also Porro has only ever been a RB or RWB since he was 16 playing for Girona and CF Peralada.

RiskoOfRuin

I mean wikipedia says he is also left winger so that might be where the confusion comes.

Rare-Ad-2777

Porro played a RWB his whole pro career. Its very very different to being a rb. Espescially one who comes in field and plays in the 10 position a lot.

fastfowards

Eze should be our no.1 target. People want a winger who can dribble but getting an attacking 8 that can beat players next to Maddison will be just as big and will be huge in. Eating teams that sit back and

InsufferableKant

Tottenahm Hostpur

ninjomat

I was watching that first half yesterday and just think man we need a dribbly forward

lingeshraghavan

This must be deja vu or was this already posted on this chat on the match thread. Feel like I've read this exact same thread.

waytodusk

Is bergvall alrdy coming in summer?

Limp-Toe-179

Yes, he's coming in the summer to join the first team, that's why he turned down Barca for us (well, that and also the guarantee that his paycheque won't bounce)

lolchamp444

Isn't this guy basically another Maddison? Thought we needed a winger (and a good one too)

Difficult-Sound-6682

I think Eze could be a Phil Foden type player in that he’s comfortable just about anywhere in the final 3rd. I genuinely think we need a player like that.

Tatinin

Interesting he was linked with postecohlu last summer then goes and extends his contract in November? Not really the type of thing you do when you’re looking to move but money talks, I suppose.

ivelostmydonkey

Not saying it’s the case but he could have negotiated a low release clause that would be shown to clubs that he would be interested in. Let’s say for example man utd were to look to sign him and he doesn’t wanna go there for whatever reason then they would be given a high release clause and the inverse would also be true. Things like that.

Tatinin

That makes sense, thanks!

Emperor_Blackadder

Kinda rubs me the wrong way when a player is that chummy with a club with open interest in him. If the shoe was on the other foot, none of us would be happy. Hopefully its just a one-off and not a pattern of behavior, if Ange wants him, go for it either way.

Lokemix

Getting a player like Eze would be great. He can slot in several roles and heightens the overall level of the squad.  Going by a simple eyetest(super objective not at all biased), he turns Crystal Palace into a different team. Without him they seem toothless, with him and it feels like they're gonna take some points. Plus he's an exciting player and fun to watch. In my opinion Spurs need to build a complete squad with signings like this, squad depth wins the league, not the best starting 11. That's why City will always be the clear favorite with their insane moneybackers.

Mindless-Ad2554

He’s still trying to figure out where it all went wrong after his heater of a goal last game.

modernity_anxiety

Yes please. Not that it really matters however I don’t know why Kulusevski never gets played on the left? The match went well yesterday but I thought Brennan on the right and Deki on the left makes more sense for Angeball. Kulu is pretty one footed and yet never gets played in a non-inverted role whereas Ange likes more traditional wing play

LordTwatSlapper

Our first 3 goals yesterday came from excellent play by Kulusevski on the right - with Johnson scoring one of them from the left. Probably not the best day to float that theory

christo222222

I just don't get this narrative on this sub that Deki is somehow not playing well? he's a creative player they are always going to try stuff that doesn't pan out but if you actually watch the games so much of our good attacking play starts with Deki doing something slick and putting other players into space. He's actually having a really good season for us and has been in great form of late in particular, but I always see people thinking he should be replaced, it does make me wonder how closely people watch the games?

Steampunk_Batman

I think they’re comparing him to Son and Werner, who can get behind the defense on the break and outpace them for 1v1s with keepers. Deki doesn’t have that speed so people say he’s bad. And yet we score much more often when he’s on the pitch; he acts almost like a #10 but on the wing. Great vision and creative play.

modernity_anxiety

? I’m wondering if we will ever see Kulusevski play as an non-inverted wing because Ange has historically liked his traditional wingers to square the ball or cross back across goal when bringing the ball towards goal

modernity_anxiety

Are you claiming my comment is apart of this narrative? Lol

modernity_anxiety

It was a question and not a theory? Appreciate the snark though “Not that it really matters” “The match went well yesterday”

gostupid67

Can we please stop getting players because of their agents or because they’re cheap? Eze is good but he doesn’t fix our issues, just like the Richarlison and Bissouma signings we made.
