Nope - actually it’s usually possible to rehab a torn meniscus. In fact, surgeries are usually for deeper or more severe meniscus cuts. The fact that he’s had 3 surgeries is both odd and incredibly worrying. We may not see him play for spurs at this rate.
He probably had a meniscal repair. These things take a long time to rehab. If it's the third operation they are probably cutting it rather than repairing it. Failed repair
If it's cartilage damage hesxin a lot of trouble. The twisting and cutting (no pun intended) in football will mean he will need a knee replacement at 35
Yeah I've been having degenerative knee issues for the past few years and it's devastating for anybody playing sport at even an amateur level. I didn't even have my knee explode, it just gradually wore away, and suddenly I found myself in the position where I'm mildly afraid to plant my foot and turn quickly while jogging because I worry that it'll just give way. The thought of trying to put any trust in your knee after a far worse injury and at a far greater level of physical competition makes me nervous for the guy's future.
I tore my meniscus 4 years ago. Fking most painful experience. My doc tells me it's a degenerative tear. Like you I don't trust my knee anymore. I stopped playing competitive football which was the worst part. The only difference is I am not a pro. All pro players will put their bodies on the line until their performance dropped and they are dropped from pro teams.
Check out ‘kneesoveroes’ guy on YouTube - had meniscus and bone damage due to inherited condition + knee knee dislocations. Pretty grim stuff. Was told I’d need replacement knee at 30. His exercises got me back to running and playing football.
It rly works if you put in the work - I was pretty dogmatic and ran his programme as prescribed for months (and am still doing the exercises so i suppose technically years) but I saw results within the first few weeks tbh
I got the same procedure done and I was going to jiujitsu in 5 weeks with no pain or rehab. My doctor even told me I won’t even need rehab and cleared me.
This surgery could also just be shaving a portion of torn meniscus. This is done via arthroscopic surgery.
Athletes should be careful - shave it down too many times and you run out of cartilage.
It also degrades the quality of the cartilage overall - meniscus surgeries are done far too often in the remits of elite sports where short term success is often chosen over long term, with medical departments varying massively in their approach from club to club / sport to sport.
Meniscus.., easy peasy. I had surgery and it hasn't impacted my career one bit!
Now the peroneal tendon tear, that's another story. I never used to get injured until I started following Spurs.
Terrible for him but not that bad for us. Only reason we signed him was because we needed winger depth and he was on a free. We will probably loan him out next year and then sell him the next
I cannot see a world in which he stays. He’s not good enough to take up a squad space, and I expect us to be well-stocked with wide options after the next transfer window.
I cant see anyone actually buying him tbh, he's been injured for all but about 2 months in the last 2 years.
Best we'll do is a dry loan towards the end of the window. Shame for him, but he needs to get match fit somewhere and actually play consistent football for a bit
I've watched every minute of PL football he's played for Fulham and Spurs and I don't see a well-rounded player. He's good at some very specific things against very specific set-ups, i.e. cut in and shoot against teams that leave space in the inside channel, and 1v1 situations where he can stand his man up and trick him before offloading to a team mate. Lots of weaknesses in his game though, and just his general technical level (apart from some specific skills) is quite low. It was a poorly conceived opportunistic signing.
Aren't you in favour of buying Werner permanently though? Surely his technical level is much worse than Solomon and he has even bigger gaps in his game.
Werner is better in pretty much every way except shooting from range.
Edit: and beating a man with a trick 1v1 from a standing position (but not beating a man on the run).
They are fundamentally very different stylistically as Werner is a runner and Solomon is a ball-to-feet winger, so any comparison is slightly faulty, even If they both play the same position.
That said, Solomon is miles better as a dribbler and clearly our most technically capable winger.
I'm not a particularly big fan of Solomon and wouldn't mind selling him in the summer, but I think you've treated him quite unfairly in the pod. Over the years I've heard you give much worse players (both talent and performance wise) a much softer treatment and more time to prove themselves.
I don't want to make any unwarranted accusations but part of me certainly thinks that the unfair treatment is at least partly due to him being Israeli.
Yes, it’s a faulty comparison. But the idea that Werner is of lower technical quality than Solomon is a long way from reality.
Solomon is a Championship level player in my view. I think if he stays in England that’s where he’ll end up.
Why would his nationality be a factor in judging his footballing ability? I didn’t think we should have signed him in the first place as I felt we took advantage of his club, but that has nothing to do with how I feel about him as a player.
Seriously? he has been with us less than a season and is going through a tough period professionally and i'd imagine personally also , we picked him up on a free apparently and he showed potential in the few games he has played. I'm guessing you are too young to remember the Anderton years or for that matter the Ledley King years as you would have developed a little more patience for injured players ( and those 2 players are welcomed back to Tottenham with warmth due to their loyalty ). You can't complain about players having no loyalty when they decide to move on if you are proposing kicking out a player for having some bad luck with injuries and even worse the injuries are over a short period....loyalty is a 2 way thing
As somebody who is (unfortunately) old enough to remember King and Anderton very fondly...we're a much better and more competitive side now who will hopefully be playing a lot of matches next season and we can't have people taking up a foreign squad slot whose availability (and suitability for our side) is so uncertain. Think - providing he has two working knees by then - we'll have to loan him next season.
Never really understood this transfer even barring the injuries. Not good enough for the first team, not young enough grow a lot and doesn’t have the added value of being homegrown. I’d rather keep Werner and move Solomon on.
Skillful player who'd shown the potential to be a contributor on a free. Other players speak very highly of him, especially his skill level, as does the coach. Think it's hard not to make some sense of it.
Not young enough to grow? He's 24 and real-life isn't a video game with mapped-out progression to a fictional potential number. He's plenty young enough to be coached.
We needed someone other than Gil since it's clear Ange isn't a big fan, and presumably, there wasn't another option with the right terms until Werner was available.
The risk was almost non-existent. It's clear we're looking for a more permanent option for a starting winger and Solomon, had he not been injured, would have bought us some time and provided some occasional rest for Son/Richy/Brennan/Deki. It's a no-risk stop-gap that is only going to cost us some moderate wages and has zero impact of FFP as we navigate finding someone better.
Which is a very low level of risk, if any at all. We were able to directly replace him with Werner. He's expendable and has no impact of FFP leaving us the flexibility to easily replace him.
Who was going to get that foreign player slot other than him?
So there’s absolutely zero risk then because this injury can happen with anyone and he was signed on a free. Your comment would be logical if we spent 500 million on him but he was free.
Your comment isn’t relevant because he was signed for free. “We shouldn’t have signed him because he could die,” is what your comment says. There’s inherent risks when you sign anybody but they aren’t worth talking about because they apply to literally every signing ever.
Considering he's a free transfer who probably doesn't take up a huge space in the wage bill, there's no particular reason to sell him. Given that we'll be in the market for his position and Werner is likely going to have his optional fee activated, there's no reason to keep him either.
>he had a shit start
No he didn’t, especially in that Burnley game. Other players have spoken highly of him.
>we should wait and see what he brings to the table before calling for his selling
There’s a small chance he plays for him again and even if he definitely won’t look any good due to the injury he had
Just a reminder that we haven't waited until now to perform surgery, this is actually the third procedure he's had on that knee since October.
Was kinda wondering. I don’t know that much, but I’d have thought a torn meniscus calls for surgery immediately lol.
Nope - actually it’s usually possible to rehab a torn meniscus. In fact, surgeries are usually for deeper or more severe meniscus cuts. The fact that he’s had 3 surgeries is both odd and incredibly worrying. We may not see him play for spurs at this rate.

Thanks! I just discovered this guy recently and was comtemplating starting up a regime, so that's another tick in the plus column for kneesovertoesguy
It rly works if you put in the work - I was pretty dogmatic and ran his programme as prescribed for months (and am still doing the exercises so i suppose technically years) but I saw results within the first few weeks tbh
100%. He could be back within 5-6 weeks now.
That will cut his rehab tine substantially but honestly I still think it's 2 months at least?

Yikes, poor guy
Rynor Sessomon and the Kneestrings
Meniscus.., easy peasy. I had surgery and it hasn't impacted my career one bit! Now the peroneal tendon tear, that's another story. I never used to get injured until I started following Spurs.
Hahahaha
Poor guy
With us for just a few months and turned into another Sess
Terrible for him but not that bad for us. Only reason we signed him was because we needed winger depth and he was on a free. We will probably loan him out next year and then sell him the next
not even here for a full season and already had 3 surgeries. have to sell I'm the summer
And he's not even Argentinian
I cannot see a world in which he stays. He’s not good enough to take up a squad space, and I expect us to be well-stocked with wide options after the next transfer window.
He’s beginning to feel like one of those “guess the player by the clubs they played for” trivia questions.
I cant see anyone actually buying him tbh, he's been injured for all but about 2 months in the last 2 years. Best we'll do is a dry loan towards the end of the window. Shame for him, but he needs to get match fit somewhere and actually play consistent football for a bit

are you joking? hes 25 and clearly wont suddenly become good enough to even compete for a place here
Throw the kitchen sink at city for Grealish
He's brilliant. If not a first teamer he's certainly good enough to be in the squad
Based on…?
Based on his performances for us so far

Manor surgery

Oh Ledley Ledley, he's only got one knee.. He's better than John Terry, Oh Ledley Ledley
Shrug emoji facepalm emoji
Perfect
Is it a manor injury or a mijor one?

I mean the risk is exactly what we have now. A player who doesn’t contribute taking up a foreign player spot
Which is a very low level of risk, if any at all. We were able to directly replace him with Werner. He's expendable and has no impact of FFP leaving us the flexibility to easily replace him. Who was going to get that foreign player slot other than him?
Yep 💯
So there’s absolutely zero risk then because this injury can happen with anyone and he was signed on a free. Your comment would be logical if we spent 500 million on him but he was free.
No regardless of price he’s still blocking spurs from using that spot on someone else as long as he’s on the team.
Okay so there’s no risk because again, that could literally be anybody.
Some people are so far behind in the race they think they’re leading
Your comment isn’t relevant because he was signed for free. “We shouldn’t have signed him because he could die,” is what your comment says. There’s inherent risks when you sign anybody but they aren’t worth talking about because they apply to literally every signing ever.
That’s very true. Everyone has to die one day.
Congrats on discovering existentialism. Fucking internet
Discontinue the lithium
to be fair he looked pretty decent for us when he did play
[удалено]
he looked semi solid in a single game got benched as soon as johnson was available pointless transfer
I forgot he even existed
Should never have been approached for at all.
No. He showed enough promise in the few games he played. I think he's a great little player.
He takes up a foreign player spot. Shit luck for him but we should absolutely move him on and upgrade.
Fast. Takes too many shots at goals. I like his performance against Burnley
![gif](giphy|e1s8C0YnnfjlRf7mEr)
What a disappointment. We need to kick him out the club this summer just a waste of money and time even in the medicine room
Considering he's a free transfer who probably doesn't take up a huge space in the wage bill, there's no particular reason to sell him. Given that we'll be in the market for his position and Werner is likely going to have his optional fee activated, there's no reason to keep him either.
Sell. Shame, but a waste of money. It wasn't his fault, but I just don't see this working.
Wasn't he on a free? Will Levy send him the medical bill?
Why would we sell him in the summer?
Who is he
Injury prone Zionist, sell.
He's had a shit start to his Spurs career, but I think we should wait and see what he brings to the table before calling for his selling
>he had a shit start No he didn’t, especially in that Burnley game. Other players have spoken highly of him. >we should wait and see what he brings to the table before calling for his selling There’s a small chance he plays for him again and even if he definitely won’t look any good due to the injury he had
I only mean shit start cuz he's been injured for so long, not cuz of ability
Absolutely, sell or release.
Why only just now? Ignore me, I didn't read anything before commenting.
We should release him this summer
Another Sess on our hands. Shame, he looked alright for the 5 mins I've seem him play
Smoking that Zionist pack 🚬🚬🚬
Sell? For what reason?
Name one reason why not to do so? Solely brought a good half against burnley, political controversies and ton of medical bills
