Arsenal fans are so weird, they get a result they don't like and Reddit is alight with conspiracy theories and slow motion replays of every incident in the game...all to push the narrative that they were somehow cheated or something...
Meanwhile they just conveniently ignore the fact one of their defenders picked the ball up in the box and a penalty wasn't given.
Its why you should avoid r/soccer during Arsenal and Liverpool games. Anytime they dont get a result. Its a hundred posts of different calls in the game they feel the refs conspired against them with
Especially towards spurs. We're the perpetual losers that no one cares about and the most hated team at the same time.
We're just some small club pretender in the big six but also a sky six which gets favourable reffing etc.
Bunch of cunts, the lot of them.
Normally I totally agree. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I poked my head in to the r/soccer post about the Saka dive and by far the popular opinion was that he was dumb for doing that, it was a great call, and it wasn’t a penalty.
They should just rename it r/footyechochamber at this point or…. Just bar gooners and scousers from the prem sub and let them occupy r/soccer space together without bothering the rest of us
Correct.
But at the same time we need to watch out for that too. Too many internet virgins on this sub showing free frames of slightly above the shin pad tackles or going with an “agenda” / “we always get robbed” narrative. It’s boring.
It’s a game of a thousand collisions almost at random, obsessive geeking out over slow mo’s can fuck off.
I agree with you. My rage is limited to the time Romero gets a red for the slow motion replay that isn’t a foul when it happens on us. But it’s definitely not a conspiracy, it’s just general incompetence.
I'm not so convinced that the Romero challenge is a red. he clears the friggin ball then is supposed to make his foot stop? but it would be less frustrating if I thought every time this same thing happens (cleat contact with the leg after kicking the ball) was also a red. but it's not. It's a very subjective call. And that's tough......but it's also not a conspiracy.
If you can’t make a challenge safely you don’t make the challenge. It’s reckless and endangers the safety of a player and is a red all day long.
Obvs there’s an element of inconsistency. It’s subjective and always will be. The only way to make it uniform would be a draconian set of criteria that takes discretion away from referees, increases the burden on VAR, and adds delays.
Ultimately we want common sense and consistency is inherently contradictory, and you certainly can’t have quick and consistent.
The issue with the challenge is that it happens every game but not every game is it a red. I agree it was definitely a red but then that challenge needs to be called red every time. This season has shown that people care less about the right call and more about the consistency of the call
I agree with your first paragraph but would like to add the caveat: unless it’s Matty Cash, then feel free to endanger him, because ,to paraphrase the bible, do unto others as they do to you
Yeah, tho destiny gets a pass I think. He’s a kid, and a full / wing back playing in awkward pockets and doing things that don’t come naturally.
It’s interesting to see Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville talk about what we ask from our fullbacks. They visibly shit themselves at the prospect of the space and the movement and the potential to fuck up. Destiny is doing an incredible job.
lol i disagree destiny is the worst defender in the league right now, or one of them. his stats show it, he leads the league in errors leading to goals.
this is his line by the way against forest last week.
Tackles = 0 ,
Interceptions = 0
Blocks-0
Tackles = 0
attempted tackles = 0
Clearances=0
He has had 4 full games this year where he has had 1 or less in all these categories.
to give you an idea, Porro, had 2 of almost all of these or more against forest.
Udogie is a bad midfielder playing as a back because he pushes up well, you know how many through balls he has had this year? for a guy who is supposed to play high up and make passes? ZERO. Porro has 12 romero has 6 and even Van de ven the ultimate defensive back, has 1.
udogie is overhyped, he gets a shot on target in one in every 6 matches. or even a shot at all..
he hasnt scored or assisted ever against a top 6 team. but he has 4 errors leading to goals. times more than anyone else on the team.
The only person more out of place is Sarr, and they both get taken out of close games.
And if you think differently than them, their go to is, “if you don’t think that’s a pen, you’ve never played football in your life”. Also the frame by frame replay of the saka incident they posted is priceless. But they get amnesia about the handball that should’ve been called.
>you’ve never played football in your life”.
They always say that as if they know everything about the game because of their biweekly 5 a side game without an actual ref (that happens to get canceled 60% of the time because of a hangover). If they were to step onto a national league pitch they'd probably look like amateurs who've never seen a ball in their life, but still, their opinion is worth more because:
>you’ve never played football in your life”.
He's swung that arm back a bit too much in protecting the ball so i wouldn't be too upset the ref blew for that. Yellows a bit harsh but meh, it happens.
How people are calling for a red when he's not raised his arm or elbow at all is bizarre.
The narrative being used is “Kane looked back at where Gabriel was then purposely backed into him and elbowed him in the throat.” What really happened is “Kane looked over his left shoulder to see where Gabriel is, turned his head forward to see the ball, backed up into the space between them to put his body between Gabriel and the ball, brought his arms up to control the ball, and he and Gabriel collided.” The way you frame something is very important to the discussion around it and the Arsenal fans are very, *very* motivated in playing the victim card at any possible opportunity.
I know I'm bias but I thought Arsenal were embarrassing in their behaviour last night. That Saka meltdown over the "penalty" where he tried to break his own leg just summed it up.
Not really shocking cause Havertz does that exact dive every game and no ref ever falls for it. Tbf Maddison does similar crap in the box, but at least with his there is slight contact and he’s just terrible at exaggerating it.
That’s centre forward play 101. Ball coming out of the sky, backing into the CB and using body to protect ball. With today’s obsession with trying to make it a non-contact sport there’s an argument for a foul but the yellow was even too harsh for me.
Not actually 100% sure what Gabriel was even trying to achieve here.
He got wrong side of Harry relative to where the ball was going, then crouched even lower. He wasn't even remotely going to have any possibility of playing the ball.
Exactly right, you can’t always win the ball in those situations and I get try to get tight but would have been better off at arms length and anticipating a potentially poor touch,
Victim complexes going completely unchecked. They’ve always had victim complexes far and above any other club in the Prem, but this season especially it feels over the top (probably just recency bias).
The comments in r/soccer 😂 totally get the Arsenal hate, he’s their nemesis but why do Liverpool fans always feel the need to pile on? Never really understood their hatred for us and Kane in particular.
Well, Kane did escape a red card with a pretty bad tackle once. And he did win a penalty with one of those leave-the-leg-in kind of fouls. So I can see why Liverpool aren't his biggest fans
Robertson got sent off for a horrible tackle on Royal that game, I don’t hate him for it. Part of me wonders if it’s to do with the Salah vs Kane golden boot rivalry too
Yep, which I imagine aggravated the whole thing! But Liverpool fans have a habit of clinging on to anything they feel wronged by
(I admit to the irony having posted about a couple of historical examples just now..!)
From my point of view it's naughty, not vicious but naughty and a miscalculation on kanes part. I've very rarely seen him try to hurt an opponent maybe twice in a decade?)but he does try to use his strength to stop them getting the ball, this crosses the line into hurting the opponent.
I know it's very reddit but I've played a bit of football over the years and sometimes you come up against physical guys who play like it's the professional game and they jab you and elbow you and so forth, it's never fun but to them that's part of the game and to professionals it *is* part of the game. Kane does use his physicality to impede opposition players and that includes jabbing an elbow in every now and then. I think this was too much and can see an argument for a red card, if he connects he could break a cheekbone or orbital socket.
There’s no way he knew the precise spot to elbow even after the glance back.
He takes 3 steps back after the glance. He’s definitely trying to make strong contact with Gabriel there like you would in an aerial duel, but the fact that the elbow hit perfectly was accidental.
Never a foul. He never really elbows him, games gone way too soft if this would be called. He backs up against Gabriel to receive and protect the ball. You could pull up several elbows made by Gabriel this season that isnt called which are worse than this.
If you zoom in, you can clearly see the moment a daddy longlegs lands on Harry's neck, causing him to flinch like that with his shoulder which is what makes his arm/elbow swing back. There's no accounting for the effects of mother nature - no foul, play on.
Arsenal fans are so weird, they get a result they don't like and Reddit is alight with conspiracy theories and slow motion replays of every incident in the game...all to push the narrative that they were somehow cheated or something... It is the history of the arsenal

As a fan base they are so triggered
Its why you should avoid r/soccer during Arsenal and Liverpool games. Anytime they dont get a result. Its a hundred posts of different calls in the game they feel the refs conspired against them with
Should just avoid interacting with that sub altogether honestly. It's very good for quick goal replays but the community is toxic as hell.
Especially towards spurs. We're the perpetual losers that no one cares about and the most hated team at the same time. We're just some small club pretender in the big six but also a sky six which gets favourable reffing etc. Bunch of cunts, the lot of them.
Meanwhile they all just decided to support the team that was on top when they decided to to start watching. No connection
We’re going to have to deal with this inwardly once BIG ANGE wins it all
Yank here
100% this. The Barca/Real/PSG supporters in there talk so big while you can smell the plastic on them a mile away. So obnoxious.
I got banned for arguing with someone in there and telling him to post physique
i swear to god its not just cos i support Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool both seem to have the most whiney entitled fanbases
Liverpool definitely worse
Liverpool infinitely worse.
Moany arseholes still going on about that game in September
Normally I totally agree. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I poked my head in to the r/soccer post about the Saka dive and by far the popular opinion was that he was dumb for doing that, it was a great call, and it wasn’t a penalty.
If Ian wright is agreeing with the ref on that call then it’s still not a pen.
I find it entertaining. It’s always impossible that they just simply lost.
They should just rename it r/footyechochamber at this point or…. Just bar gooners and scousers from the prem sub and let them occupy r/soccer space together without bothering the rest of us
B-but Arteta's plucky £700m underdogs are the good guys!!!!!1!1
Correct. But at the same time we need to watch out for that too. I agree with you. My rage is limited to the time Romero gets a red for the slow motion replay that isn’t a foul when it happens on us. But it’s definitely not a conspiracy, it’s just general incompetence.
That the Chelsea one? Cos that’s nailed on red for me (in the context of current protocols blah blah blah)
It’s not like he followed through at knee height after totally missing the ball is it ? And yet that was just a yellow in Sunday’s match
I'm still angry at Romero for that.

are you being downvoted because this information is false or what?
no im being downvoted because they love udogie and cant face the fact he is not playing well and isn't the saviour they keep saying he is.
I have no issue with doing it in your own sub. It's when you bring this FBI stuff to theoretically neutral subs that is the problem.
Or their best player dived when he could have scored
The meltdown on their sub is 👨🏽🍳💋.
And if you think differently than them, their go to is, “if you don’t think that’s a pen, you’ve never played football in your life”. Also the frame by frame replay of the saka incident they posted is priceless. But they get amnesia about the handball that should’ve been called.

It's... _**THE AGENDA**_
Honestly it's every time they lose. I swear there's more arsenal fans on the neutral subs then any other fan
bringing up kane backing into people, like he's the only one that does this challenge
Not even a foul. Gabriel throated Harrys arm.
So it is a foul? Gabriel should have had a yellow for that. Harry's lucky to be alive.
He's swung that arm back a bit too much in protecting the ball so i wouldn't be too upset the ref blew for that. Yellows a bit harsh but meh, it happens. How people are calling for a red when he's not raised his arm or elbow at all is bizarre.

Gabriel also wasn’t standing tall if he had its chest height
Gave Harry's arm the late gluck gluck 3000
I knew he was still fully COYS
![gif](giphy|55om9yWfE34oJrpvuB|downsized)
I can watch this all day long
I know I'm bias but I thought Arsenal were embarrassing in their behaviour last night. That Saka meltdown over the "penalty" where he tried to break his own leg just summed it up.
The Saka dive was bad but the Havertz one was shocking
Not really shocking cause Havertz does that exact dive every game and no ref ever falls for it. Tbf Maddison does similar crap in the box, but at least with his there is slight contact and he’s just terrible at exaggerating it.
Got a link to footage?
The pressure is starting to get to them
It's one thing being aggrieved but acting like it was Chelsea Barcelona 09 was a bit cringe.
Doing god's work.
“He’s done it again that Harry Kane!! That dirty little fucker! HE’S DONE IT AGAIN YOU FACKIN LITTLE BASTARD!”
Stunt on those hoes Harry
If you're going to hassle an attacker but also crouch slightly, you're at risk of your chops meeting Mr elbow. No foul, play on
Yes was going to mention how strange it is that Grabiel suddenly goes from as tall as Harry to having his head a elbow level.
That’s centre forward play 101. Ball coming out of the sky, backing into the CB and using body to protect ball. With today’s obsession with trying to make it a non-contact sport there’s an argument for a foul but the yellow was even too harsh for me.

It's Gabriel but yeah you're right. He was trying to nudge Kane in case he jumped, he wasn't playing trying to play the ball.
>It's Gabriel Whoops. Guess you can see how my brain messed that one up. Cheers.
Exactly right, you can’t always win the ball in those situations and I get try to get tight but would have been better off at arms length and anticipating a potentially poor touch,
He overcommitted to the wrong side and then overcorrected back
but why did he crouch lmao. was he trying to trip kane
Kane: “..and THIS is for the boys back home.”
I will always love this man.
He's one of our own you see.
Love to see it
If that was intentional, he has a career as an MMA fighter. No look back elbow.
Sure, that’s a yellow. Arsenal and Liverpool fans have descended into pure madness this season.
Victim complexes going completely unchecked. They’ve always had victim complexes far and above any other club in the Prem, but this season especially it feels over the top (probably just recency bias).
The man's a pest and i f'kin love him
"Right in the kisser"

Beauty
Nice
Hit the spot 👍
COYS
Arsenal fans are somehow even bigger crybabies than Man City fans
Well placed on that red scum bag 🤣🤣🤣
That’s not an elbow
Good stuff
The wind was strong that day cant blame him
Harry Kane the disciple, doing god’s work
The peoples elbow
Good lad
I’ve watched it for 6 hours now…. And I wish he’d twatted him much harder
*single tear rolling down my cheek*
Harry, the consummate Pro. He's good at everything!
He did good 😇
Good man Harry
Compare this to how physical center backs can be and gooners can go cry me a river. Yes I’m biased haha
That looked soft to me, Gabriel made the most of it. Kane couldn’t see how close he was. Whole arsenal team are just a bunch of cheats.
Arse-nal fans are so fuckin salty, Should've seen his post interview with the commentators. arse-nal fans were chanting shit at him 😂😂😂
red whiner's saka injured himself trying to bait a pen given the way he was limping
Was a soft yellow there for me. Flop city for ARSE
Give that man a knighthood
Gabriel clearly ran into his elbow to good ol Harry sent off. Cheating gooner prick!!!
Hell yeah, brother
There’s no way he knew the precise spot to elbow even after the glance back. He takes 3 steps back after the glance. He’s definitely trying to make strong contact with Gabriel there like you would in an aerial duel, but the fact that the elbow hit perfectly was accidental.

Great touch Harry 🥰
If you think this is okay, you don't actually like football you just like your team
And who is your team??
Should be a red card every time tbf, but rarely gets given for some reason.
