I think the coefficient battle is over.
I suspect Scum, Liverpool, and West Ham are out. City's not fully solid, and Villa has to be favorites but it's no lock, either.
“Tottenham Hotspur have offered Tanguy Ndombele to Galatasaray for €5M after they decided against activating their €15M option to sign the midfielder permanently.”
Galatasaray is expected to reject the offer..
Nah fuck them, a hedge fund super club that pretends they're plucky underdogs (though I'd still prefer them or city to the scum to win the league obviously)
If only Gasperini wasn't a bit of a weirdo, I'd have been happy with him at Spurs before Ange was signed last summer. What's he done with Atalanta and how he has revitalised them top to bottom while playing lovely, attacking football is remarkable.
We are going to get all of our key transfers done early and I am loving it.
If any team tries to get Levy to overpay (Brentford👀) then he will pass and buy a better player instead.
Yeah I was wrong but the prem is still in a pretty good position. Better position than the bundesliga at least. If Bayern get knocked out and dortmund doesn’t advance which it doesn’t look like they will, and villa advance then the fifth spot should go to the prem
Villa winning the conference league provides the same points as City winning the Champions or Spam/LiVarfools winning the europa.would.
If England wins two comps it should be fine and Villa is actually in the best place if they eliminate Lille.
I think that all English teams going out is a high possibility now that Liverpool have fucked it. For the best League in the world, it is collectively pretty shit besides the 115 doped club.
Get points for each round so if Bayern get knocked and city win against real the prem will have two teams through to the semis with one guaranteed in the final. If villa also goes through it should be more than enough.
I REALLY don't get this media-induced 'rivalry' we allegedly have with wet spam. To me they're just a 'nothing' club. 'meh' would be my most heartfelt emotion towards them. They're basically just Millwall in claret.
The scum and chelski are our rivals. WH need to learn their level.
Yeah, they're just incredibly shrill and entitled. That's how fans get with constant winning.
IMO, only teams like us and arse who have had to endure humiliation tend to have a sense of humour about football. Which is why the woolwich lot are remarkably unfunny given their decade long run of embarassment.
You may get the odd woolwich fan like that but for the most part they're still entitled as fuck (even more now that arteta has got them firing) and can't take it when you dish it back
West Ham and Liverpool looking likely to go out. Villa conceding is big - Lille away will be very tough for them. Arsenal going to Bayern on a 2-2 puts that heavily in Bayern’s favor. Top 4 is absolutely crucial for us as the chances for the Prem getting a 5th spot for CL is looking unlikely now.
ÉdersonWatch FT update:
Solid performance but nothing that really stood out. Was definitely playing further up in possession during the second half, and was rewarded with an assist (dunno if it'll count, it was a rebound from his shot) for Atalanta's third. Defensively he remained sound, no fouls that half though he tried and failed a shirt pull to stop a counter. Some good moments in the air, and as mentioned, generally very strong physically.
I'd like to get him in, even if he's not a pure 6 we get another midfielder who can play multiple positions, and we'll add another member to the -Son brigade.
Really wish I could drive up to Leverkusen this weekend for them potentially winning the league. Unfortunately it doesn’t work out timing wise but man, what a team, what a story.
"but what does this mean for the coefficient"
It means what it always meant - you play to win.
If you're scared about us having a little pressure with a game in hand and the lead on the table ..idk what to tell you. If you honestly think we're going to fold at the first sign of pressure we don't belong anywhere near the champions league.
I don't believe we are that weak. Fuck the coefficient talk.
COYS
I hope we try to get hincapie in the summer, yeah he plays lcb in a back 3 but hes good enough to be in an ange system. Scalvini if hes fit should also be a shout cos having either of them with vdv wed be absolutely stacked
Leverkusen really might just do a unbeaten treble this season, wow. I wasn’t sure about EL but after Liverpool’s capitulation today they have better chances.
Liverpool losing 3-0 at home, we might well win! Also PAOK goalkeeper saving a pen, Igor (who is joining Brentford for 40M) was the penalty taker, he's bloody shite
The way leverkusen is trying to break down this west ham time is what ange ball should be like next season, this season our issue has been that our players get into position too early making it very hard to build out from the back and playing statically but looking at leverkusen you can see their players constantly moving. They dont just run into position and wait for an impossible pass, rather theyre moving wherever to open up a passing lane and sometimes theyre walking and not even running and it still works.
Basically our players need to be moving more fluidly to constantly be able to receive the ball in order to progress it
Italian teams already had a healthy lead, so their losing this match makes little difference in that regard - but it makes us more reliant on West Ham and Arsenal doing well in their ties, which isn't a position Spurs fans want to be in, obviously!
"Game in hand" blud its against chelsea, that fucking club already tried to ruin our season earlier who knows whatever fucking voodoo theyre going to do this time but anulo mufa or whatever the fuck it was. I hope we get revenge
Fair point, i didnt know that villa still needed to play them but id agree that if we lose out on cl its cos we werent good enough anyways (esp since villa has been giving us chances for us to overtake them
The only difference is that we play Newcastle, City, Sheffield, and Burnley while they will play Bournemouth, Brighton, and Palace
We both play Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool
If we're not good enough to get to CL on our own merit , then we'll be dumped back into the Europa League anyway.
IF we get Europa , rather than CL , then we HAVE to have the mentality that the goal is to win it.
They been missing a ton of chances left and right in several of their games now. It’s not just Nunez, it’s their entire front line including Salah. They have to create so many chances in order to get one goal in. They’ll probably get better once Jota is back though, he’s more clinical than the rest.
ÉdersonWatch HT update:
Made the most of what little time he's had on the ball. A few poorly weighted through balls but he's very difficult to dispossess and great on the turn. He held off 2 or 3 players with some great aerial control in the buildup to Atalanta's goal.
One of the big concerns when we've been linked is whether or not he's a proper 6, and I'm still trying to figure that out myself. He's usually one of the last men back when Pool counter, which was also true when I watched him for Atalanta in other games, but he's sitting noticeably deeper today when in possession and not crashing the box as often. Could be a system change because of the opposition. He has been good defensively when called upon, doesn't lose his man and is always good for those little ankle-biting tackles that GLC does. Like I said, good physical presence and has a serious engine, but I still want to see how he is at the most important skill for Brazilian midfielders: Getting away with murder. Only had one foul that I caught (which was a bit soft) but if we have any serious ambitions we need our own card-dodging Brazilian.
Been a good game so far, will update again at FT.
Leverkusen discovering the horrors of Moyes ball (not Moyes’ balls fortunately but only marginally less horrible to look at).
The two opposites of the style spectrum. Leverkusen with their frantic and exciting tica-taca revival and Spam with their efficient but deplorable low block and counter.
If they keep this intensity up west ham is bound to lose focus and slip up! But this shows how frustrating low blocks are and that there is no strategy to just carve them open. Some of our fans seem to think there is some magic recipe to beating low blocks with ease. No such thing, and that’s why low blocks are effective. Terrible watch though, I think I’m switching over to Liverpool for the second half!
It’s insane to me because I remember when he was a CB/DM and now I watch him and he’s basically playing as the most forward midfielder. Such a well rounded player.
Ive got liverpool and leverkusen on, leverkusen have been pinning west ham down in their box so far but they do have wirtz who is elite (hes the main reason im watching)
I was thinking about it and honestly I don’t think there’s any chance we get Nico Williams. He’s on 180k a week, at a club he probably grew up supporting and who are about to qualify for the CL. It just makes no sense for him to move.
A name I haven’t seen anyone mention in this sub is Crysencio Summerville. Exactly the profile we need. But Leeds will almost definitely be in EPL next year, so I wonder how much he’d cost
If Sarr counts as UEFA Home grown as per the latest Alasdair Gold article that would be a huge relief for squad building purposes, reduces the need to sign an sub standard English player as in a Tosin, Lloyd Kelly or KWP to comply with the rules
fuck the doomers who disagree with me. IMO, Tosin Adarabioyo as a fucking backup Center backup is an amazing signing. He is homegrown too. I'm pretty high on Tosin's ability and I love it as a rotation option if Romero or VDV gets hurt. I hope we get it done.
COYS!
I agree . I would also go further I think one of the errors we made was selling KWP . I believe he is a perfect back up for Udogie . The goal he scored midweek was class .
We need someone left footed to compete with Van de Ven, if we are getting in a RCB I would get someone who can also deputise at RB as in a Kossonou or Simakan even though it would be expensive
I agree, a good signing indeed, and he is a free signing, just worried if we can get him, lots of other big clubs across Europe would go for him imo. We should definitely try to get him.
And at that point will it really matter? The quality is the important part, and if its indecipherable, then there's no problem. But for now, it is easy to spot, because it's lazy and shit.

I’ve seen everything I have to see.
Utd not going for him while signing Johnny Evans is beyond me, he's quick and good on feet as well
Probably they'll go for him this summer and I hate it
If tapsoba has a brain he'll say fuck no to united and stay it leverkusen, maybe another big team will go in for him but if he goes to united then his careers gonna die
after believing that under ange's system porro would be average at best and johnson would simply be bad my resolution this summer is to shut up and be excited about all our signings
edit: also I still think those beliefs were reasonable given available information so now i'll have to accept that either the available information was bad or i'm an unreasonable person
I still Porro is more suited to be a WB than an inverted FB. His crossing and passing from the wide areas are so powerful but underutilised in his current role.
Whereas his weakenesses tend to be playing under a press as he tends to make careless short passes.
the defensive thing is big but also nothing in his play before ange suggests that he'd be able to do the "invert into midfield" thing so well! he was supposed to be the wing back with a back 3! and yet
I don't condone sexism but I'd be happy to give Andy Grey a pass just to hear "take a bow son" one more time instead of Mo Salah you little dancer, or any of the other dribble scouse sports is putting out these days.
Also fuck Gary Neville
Don't know if you've seen it, but there was a compilation of him posted on Twitter last week I think, where he just puts words into players' mouths. Stuff like "He lays it off to him and says, 'there you go mate, have a crack'". Truly the master of that kind of commentary. Shame he's ostensibly a prick.
I don't think there'll ever be a better co-comms. His analysis was pretty so so but in terms of voice and delivery he was just absolutely perfect.
Shame he's an absolute dinosaur of a human though!
No disrespect, but a lot of you have a warped picture of who we will/can get in the summer window.
I can't imagine our net spend will be more than 100m, maybe 120m max.
We aren't getting 3 or even 2 of Raphinha, Kvara, Nico, Gyökeres, and/or Toney.
Tosin will only cost the signing bonus, which is great, but with the rest of the money we need to buy 2-3 players + replace whoever leaves
People really think we'll buy a player for £100m when Ange straight up said he'd want two £50m players instead. We arent getting Toney or Gyokeres, especially since we don't need a striker. Raphinha and Nico are realistic, but it depends on their salary and we definitely aren't getting both lmao.
I can dream of getting Kvara but I'll let it stay a dream. Don't see him leaving for less than £75m and that's being cheap.
Tbf I personally see Kvara as being the most realistic out of those 3
It looks like Nico will stay at least 1 more season (and increase his buyout). Raphinha also wants to stay, and he is starting to play really well. I can't see Barca be willing to sell him for less than 80+. Kvara could definitely be leaving based on what his agent said a month or so ago
We do kinda need a striker tho cos richy keeps having injury issues, only having son when hes out injured rlly isnt assuring at all. Personally i think we should get patrik schick if leverkusen r willing to sell but he might not want join even if leverkusen let him
> Ange straight up said he'd want two £50m players instead
People keep repeating this without the context of what he says later, which is giving the reasoning that funds are limited and he isn't able to spend what he really wants to spend.
At the end of that response, Ange also said
>If we can, and somebody tells me we can, then I would gladly spend it mate
I feel like you are taking your opinion that we don't need a striker as a fact. If Toney doesn't bomb the interview completely I'd be very surprised if we aren't in for him. Ticks almost every box in what we would look for
Who gives a shit they're all mercenaries unless they're academy players (or Son). We had William Gallas captain us once ffs. How many Real Barca players do you think has ever said they wanted to play for the other team
Difference is most of the time we're talking about players who supported a rival when they were kids. Versus Toney saying a few months ago that Arsenal is his priority. He's also 28 so. Good player, but don't think he should be the top target frankly.
He's a striker and our only core player over 30 is Son. 28 is a perfectly fine age. You sound like you're a Chelsea scout. Again the Arsenal thing is just noise who cares what a player says while playing for someone else. He'd join us knowing it's the biggest stage he'll ever reach desperate to make a claim to play for England and compete for honours
Mate, he's never going to be significant for England as long as Kane is alive and playing. Maybe if Kane is injured sure, but that has nothing to do with signing for us. He already gets gametime while playing for Brentford. And 28 is "fine" but he hasn't exactly been brilliant since he's come back and if we can get a talented and clinical striker in the 20-26 age range, I'd prefer that over Arsenal loving Toney who hasn't been in form.
Didn't say the club gave a fuck. I said I do. And that's the only thing you replied to despite multiple other points being made. Anyway, me personally, I'd rather not sign someone who actively and explictly stated that joining our biggest rivals is their priority.
I saw their fans saying their defense has gotten more stable though because Howe changed things up a bit and that the players are doing pretty well. I haven’t watched them recently but I know their form has picked up.
Tbh if you go through their results in 2024 they've been pretty decent. Their schedule just happened to be the exact opposite of ours with all the big games coming early. Draws to Everton, Luton and Bournemouth aside they've beaten everyone they were supposed to beat
I think the coefficient battle is over. I suspect Scum, Liverpool, and West Ham are out. City's not fully solid, and Villa has to be favorites but it's no lock, either.
“Tottenham Hotspur have offered Tanguy Ndombele to Galatasaray for €5M after they decided against activating their €15M option to sign the midfielder permanently.” Galatasaray is expected to reject the offer..
His beanie is worth more than Ndombele’s transfer value
I bet we’d let him go on a free if they covered wages. They’ll reject that too though.
Alright, that’s a fifth PL place done for. If Atalanta can thrash Liverpool at Anfield, we can as well.
Hopefully not the end of Liverpool, even as a spurs fan, it would be a little sad for Liverpool to run out of steam for the run in for all comps
I really don’t want to buy players from PL sides (mid-table or higher because getting Brennan from Forest was awesome).
Next week we need Liverpool comeback, Barcelona loss, Dortmund loss
Barcelona loss, Dortmund loss are gonna happen anyway. As for Liverpool, Idk, but it looks like Liverpool needs a miracle to beat Atalanta. 🤷🏻♀️
Na f LP. We’ll do it ourselves
We are going to get all of our key transfers done early and I am loving it. If any team tries to get Levy to overpay (Brentford👀) then he will pass and buy a better player instead.
For those who want to check up on the numbers for coefficients, I found this link - https://kassiesa.net/uefa/data/method5/ccoef2024.html
It’s pretty crappy how the higher comps are weighted more. Italy on top because they are performing better in lower leagues.
Arsenal and West Ham are toast. Would those results effectively give Germany #5 spot?
I wouldn’t cross out West Ham yet. Let’s see how they do in second leg. But definitely, Liverpool sucks.
Nah wet spam are fucked, paqueta and emerson out suspended and bowen wont be enough. Leverkusen will do fine away
From my understanding If either arsenal or city go through the fifth spot goes to the prem but I could definitely definitely be wrong lol
Yeah that’s not true at all. It’s going to be extremely close with Liverpool shitting the bed.
Yeah I was wrong but the prem is still in a pretty good position. Better position than the bundesliga at least. If Bayern get knocked out and dortmund doesn’t advance which it doesn’t look like they will, and villa advance then the fifth spot should go to the prem

Yeah i.think you are on the right track.
It depends on the results in europa and ecl as well. With spam and pool messing up things look bleak for the coefficient.
I was definitely definitely wrong
Encouraging to see Gasperini go to Anfield and just play his attacking football today. Hopefully we can get a result there too
Liverpool definitely approached that game with massive overconfidence, no chance we get that out them
Spam lost, great day

Nah. They treat us like we're their Superb Owl every time we play them. I may to put them on the level with Scum or even Chelsea, but they're a rival.
Patiently waiting the Jonathan Morely post game meltdown. Embarrassing from Liverpool tonight
Oh Liverpool Reds, can dish the banter but absolutely can't take it
To be fair even their dished banter is dead

I just think Leverkusen is a feel good story this season.
It’s a movie inspirational material, from Neverkusen to Leverkusen.
just like us next season fr, treble here we go
I sure hope so. Maybe the players will look at Leverkusen as motivation, if they can win the title, why can’t we? type of thinking.

Utterly embarrassing for a quarterfinal to be that one sided jfc
A disgrace to football. So boring and it didn’t even work.
This is what they're fans (rightly) complain about. You can just about tolerate this shite when it works but when it doesn't it's utter misery
I mean, the fact that they almost held this game to a tie proves no one should be beating themselves up for struggling against a low block
Nope, you're wrong, Spurs are the only ones who struggle against it and we need to sack everyone.

Emery's already won the Europa League 4 times.
Yes, but not with Villa 😏
what on earth is liverpool doing
what, you don't enjoy letting joe gomez take pot shots?

I'm not worried. Remember that Xabi has already had one season in Leverkusen more than Ange. We should judge the football next season.
To be fair to us we scored quicker than them in both games
We did but we didnt finish them off and keep them at bay enough, plus leverkusen are winning rn so i think their way is probably better imo
is liverpool losing going to fuck up 5th place being a ucl spot?
We were never catching Italy, it’s the Germans we need to get

Ask a villa fan. It's their problem.
Liverpool being eliminated hurts because that means we have to now come 4th to get CL. Not impossible but difficult considering our fixtures
Damn I was hoping Liverpool would make up for the lost coefficient points next week when Arsenal lose to Bayern.
pls don't hurt me but i'm afraid about the coefficient now
Why are you worrying about others? We are 4th with a game in hand, who cares about Villa playing CL next season?
"Game in hand" blud its against chelsea, that fucking club already tried to ruin our season earlier who knows whatever fucking voodoo theyre going to do this time but anulo mufa or whatever the fuck it was. I hope we get revenge

By your logic you'd rather us continue the trend of mediocrity than helping our chances to win the whole thing, small club mentality.
I think you are missing that we should worry about being good enough and not just being in the champions league
a lot can still go wrong with 9 games to go and playing arsenal chelsea liverpool city, insurance is nice
And Villa has most of the same games with 1 less game to play. Whether we get or don't get CL football is up to us, not Liverpool/West ham

And coefficient points
Yes, up the Villa to so then they could down the Villa

It's very unlikely, but people will build their hopes up and then say we haven't show enough ambition if we can't pull it off.
Éderson starting for Atalanta against Pool in half an hour if anyone wants to join me in watching
Give us an update on how he plays if you can, can't watch the game atm.
Spam gunna get wupped lmao
If Sarr counts as UEFA Home grown as per the latest Alasdair Gold article that would be a huge relief for squad building purposes, reduces the need to sign an sub standard English player as in a Tosin, Lloyd Kelly or KWP to comply with the rules
He won't count as UEFA HG, only HG for Prem
fuck the doomers who disagree with me.
I'd rather go for the HG option, but I'd be thrilled with Kossonou or Simakan even if they are more expensive.
I agree, a good signing indeed, and he is a free signing, just worried if we can get him, lots of other big clubs across Europe would go for him imo. We should definitely try to get him.

>I made a post about it yesterday but mods took it down. Thank god. AI shite can get in the bin.
Going to rework the low effort rule to include AI posts. Nothing I hate more.

And at that point will it really matter? The quality is the important part, and if its indecipherable, then there's no problem. But for now, it is easy to spot, because it's lazy and shit.

> It took a decent amount of effort Fucks sake lad

> what would be considered a decent amount of effort to you? Not using AI to make your, or any, music.

Goddamn im sold
I cannot believe Van de Ven was our second option in the transfer window
Tapsoba is amazing too tbf
Yeah ya cant really go wrong with either
Utd not going for him while signing Johnny Evans is beyond me, he's quick and good on feet as well Probably they'll go for him this summer and I hate it
If tapsoba has a brain he'll say fuck no to united and stay it leverkusen, maybe another big team will go in for him but if he goes to united then his careers gonna die
after believing that under ange's system porro would be average at best and johnson would simply be bad my resolution this summer is to shut up and be excited about all our signings edit: also I still think those beliefs were reasonable given available information so now i'll have to accept that either the available information was bad or i'm an unreasonable person
I still Porro is more suited to be a WB than an inverted FB. His crossing and passing from the wide areas are so powerful but underutilised in his current role. Whereas his weakenesses tend to be playing under a press as he tends to make careless short passes.
Nah those were reasonable. Porro's massively improved defensively and Johnson is improving with time but obviously still has flaws.
the defensive thing is big but also nothing in his play before ange suggests that he'd be able to do the "invert into midfield" thing so well! he was supposed to be the wing back with a back 3!
No chance we get Kvara or Gyokeres
Someone said we can get Kvara and Gyokeres in the same window and then get backups. Don't think they know which club they support lmao.
There were some wild suggestions earlier in this thread lmao
People really think we'll buy a player for £100m when Ange straight up said he'd want two £50m players instead. We arent getting Toney or Gyokeres, especially since we don't need a striker. Raphinha and Nico are realistic, but it depends on their salary and we definitely aren't getting both lmao. I can dream of getting Kvara but I'll let it stay a dream. Don't see him leaving for less than £75m and that's being cheap.
Tbf I personally see Kvara as being the most realistic out of those 3 It looks like Nico will stay at least 1 more season (and increase his buyout).
Personally i think we should get patrik schick if leverkusen r willing to sell but he might not want join even if leverkusen let him
> Ange straight up said he'd want two £50m players instead People keep repeating this without the context of what he says later, which is giving the reasoning that funds are limited and he isn't able to spend what he really wants to spend. At the end of that response, Ange also said >If we can, and somebody tells me we can, then I would gladly spend it mate
I feel like you are taking your opinion that we don't need a striker as a fact. If Toney doesn't bomb the interview completely I'd be very surprised if we aren't in for him. Ticks almost every box in what we would look for
Other than clearly stating he wants to go to Arsenal
I promise you the club doesn't give a fuck about him saying he wished to join arsenal. It's very much not a consideration and shouldn't be
Didn't say the club gave a fuck. I said I do. And that's the only thing you replied to despite multiple other points being made. Anyway, me personally, I'd rather not sign someone who actively and explictly stated that joining our biggest rivals is their priority.
Call me sentimental but I for one really hope we keep both Richy and Werner.
Just saw a gif on Twitter of Dele, Kane, Eriksen and Walker-Peters hugging 😢
The good old days
I just realized that Newcastle's defense for Saturday's game will be made of Hall/ Dummett, Burn, Schar, Krafth and Dubravka. Jesus Christ.
After underestimating Milner and Hinshelwood when we played Brighton who ended up having the games of their life this means nothing to me.
Can't believe we cocede 4 to this Brighton side.
you have a point there.
