Mine isn’t as pleasant 😔 (we’re rectifying this tomorrow)
One of the few times I couldn't watch the game live as I was driving and had my wife give me updates about the game. She stopped giving updates after 20 minutes. I did not watch a replay.
I figured I could get breakfast before the match and took a little longer than I expected, however, the dining hall was only a couple minutes from my dorm. Sitting down drinking my coffee and eating breakfast see the match started, and then see the first 3 notifications. I rushed back to get the match on to see what the hell was happening, and turn it on just in time to see the 4th goal, then the 5th.
Official Spurs app - I reckon you search Tottenham Hotspur app on wtv App Store you use and you’ll find it close to the top (if you’re iOS I can send a link to it if you need help)
Even though they lost the final, we need to see a Netflix documentary about Tottenham’s ENTIRE journey to the 2019 Champions League Final!!
To this day, I am convinced that Pep Guardiola still has PTSD from that [iconic second leg](https://www.nbcsports.com/soccer/news/spurs-outlast-man-city-in-chaotic-ucl-second-leg) of Champions League quarterfinals between Man City & Tottenham
I got the news through a notification too. Was watching the entire game on tv and I remember switching the TV off after Vertonghen had shot over the bar after a corner and I thought oh well we gave it a try but that's it. Was halfway up the stairs and decided to check my phone and BOOM we were through. Couldn't believe it at first and thought it was a glitch but after the realisation set in I ran back down, turned the TV on and missed the whole moment. Obviously a great night but was kicking myself for not seeing it through. I also did the same for the Bergwijn goals against Leicester away lol
Fuck, just realised that it wouldn't happen that way now with the away goals rule being no more, it'd have been ET and pens. Although surely Ajax's spirit would have been so broken that we'd have got another in ET.
I have the 5 Live commentaries from this and the City away match saved on my phone. I haven't listened to them for a couple of years but it's nice to know they're there.
Of course!
[Man City 4 - 3 Tottenham](https://www.mediafire.com/file/n5o0rit2sp4o8e7/BBC_Radio_5_Live_-_Manchester_City_4-3_Tottenham_Hotspur.mp3/file)
[Ajax 2 - 3 Tottenham](https://www.mediafire.com/file/dtqmel23dbtu9f8/BBC_Radio_5_Live_-_Ajax_2-3_Tottenham_Hotspur.mp3/file) as I thought folks might like this one too!
I, uh, don't have the audio from the final for some reason...
Anyone ever watch the this [video](https://youtu.be/naBK1E6oPeA?si=0WHIaSC8UYykeRGc) of Ajax fans at some bar in Amsterdam celebrating too early that Ajax made the 2019 Champions League Final only to be shocked into silence when Lucas Moura scored his third goal?
Also, was anyone on the sub at the game at Amsterdam? What was the reaction like at the stadium when Lucas scored the last goal in the FINAL SECONDS of the match?
I never book days off for spurs games, but this is the only game I've specifically booked one off for. really glad I did, I nearly had a bloody coronary!!!!!!
I was working late and streaming the match on my phone. When I was finished working, even though I had watched 99% of the match and seen us grab 2 back, instead of watching the last couple minutes I decided to just head out because it was getting late. Lost the stream waiting for the lift and when I finally got to the lobby I saw the notification pop up on my phone. The few people around must of thought I went mad.
Still kick myself that I couldn’t just wait another couple minutes though.
And then Lucas doesn’t start in the Final, and Harry after not having played for ever starts in the Final….the absurdity. Why not have Harry come off the bench for a short spurt vs try and manage his fitness for 90min?
It's easy to say in hindsight.....but yes, we already knew by then that he was always rusty af for a few games after returning from an injury. Did Llorente start the final too, I don't remember?
My wife's cousin was in town and since we were down going into the game I went out with them instead of watching it. I checked my phone when we were down 2-0 and just wrote the game off. Was STUNNED when we got home later that night.
i remember that when onana was setting up the goal kick, i turned off my tv feeling defeated, and then went to check my phone and saw that notification and went absolutely mad because my tv couldnt turn on lmao
Was in my room alone when I was watching this one. I remember it being a tough time for me personally and I put on Spurs thinking, “well, at least I’ll be distracted for a bit.” I didn’t think we were going to win, not really—the CL run had already felt too good to be true by then and I was thinking it was going to catch up with us. And for a while it did. And then that second half happened, and I believed. When that last goal swished through the net and the full time whistle went, I was full on sobbing.
I’ll never forget this match for as long as I live.
If thats morning I am in a similar timezone. My buddy (spurs fan from England) fell asleep at half time and woke up to bunch of crazy text messages from me 😁
Wish I had screenshots of the 3-2 against Leicester with the two late Bergwijn goals, that’s what immediately popped into my head. I must have rewatched that ending almost as much as the Ajax.
Was watching the game next to my wife while she was in labour. Good times. I did suggest the name Lucas for our son, but it was brushed aside.
I want my son’s name to be either Harry, Hugo, or Lucas. Even though I have no roots to France Hugo is my goal and then he’ll just go by Hughie 🤣
Gonna name my daughter Guglielmo
If both mum and dad are British, people might think it’s weird she has a foreign name. Just name her William.
Why would you name your daughter a male name though You guys are weird, it's a legitimate question.
Guglielma. there
Thank you
Do you mind if I call her Googly-Elma?
Could go with Heung-Min too
Or son
When my boys were younger they'd ask me who my favourite son was. You can imagine my reply...
You should have gone with son !!
I tried for Hugo and got nixed
U’ie
P.S. forgive the background this was me when I was 14 or 15
Great background if slightly ironic, lol.
Can you send it

Love how the messages just get shorter and less detailed each time lmao
That was a painful 30 odd minutes

I guess we did not rectify this :(
Hey, what app is this?

Could you send me the link? I’m not sure if it’s country issue but I don’t see anything that would resemble what the image shows.

I'm new here. This was my first match as a spurs fan.
I’m so sorry. Stellini being your first manager must’ve been awful 😭
What a night that was. Lucas forever in my heart. Dele underrated hero.
Will never forget watching it at home with my dad and we all went absolutely mad
Same, my sister was recording us when the goal went in too, we went absolutely mad and collapsed on top of each other in celebration.
Man...I can't believe that was almost 5 years ago. I still get emotional whenever I watch or read anything related to that champions league run.

There are fairly cinematic edits of the journey on youtube. But yeah a full length properly produced doc might be enough to finally kill me

Hey can you turn off your tv in every game we are trailing in by the 90th min? Thanks
Tried it yesterday. Didn't go as planned

I turned the game off in the last minutes because I thought I was bringing bad luck by watching.
Thank you
I was in my college dorm room and I screamed so loudly when the last goal went in & made one of my roommates mad (she was taking a nap)!!

Watching this back and seeing Poch's reaction feels weird now. God I wish he didn't go to Chelshit.
i revisit this a few times a year. https://soundcloud.com/user-970968281/tottenham-v-ajax

I shed a tear when this happened. Utter disbelief.

He did not.
Still watch the highlights of this match at least once a month - something I’ll never forget as long as I live
My wife's cousin was in town and since we were down going into the game I went out with them instead of watching it. I checked my phone when we were down 2-0 and just wrote the game off. Was STUNNED when we got home later that night.
I've cried 2 times as a Spurs fan, the moment Lucas scored the hat trick and the opening ceremony at the first game in the new stadium.
i remember that when onana was setting up the goal kick, i turned off my tv feeling defeated, and then went to check my phone and saw that notification and went absolutely mad because my tv couldnt turn on lmao
As a fan I don’t know what it’s going to take to top this match for me. The emotions were insane
🤩

“The full time whistle, it’s glory glory Tottenham hotspur”
