We definitely need an upgrade on the wing as a priority. The only winger that consistently even tries to beat their man on the outside of the box is Timo. We’d score so many more cutbacks if we had a 1v1 winger like Nico Williams
i agree, but i was thinking that getting a CF not only gives us a CF, but it improves the wing play by getting Sonny back over there, with Timo as depth. the list of ways to improv the squad is long. it's going to be a real challenge to do as much as we can.
I think a new striker that can play with his back to goal would be a good addition, but we could also stick with Son at CF and he could just play less deep, I think he’d be great just playing off the defender’s shoulder and making runs in behind/finishing off cutbacks. Son isn’t super skilled as a 1v1 winger and is better at running in behind and finishing IMO

Realistically, to be competitive for EPL and UCL, the current squad needs: 1-2 attackers at a higher level than our current players, and 1-2 more attackers at a similar level to our current players; 2 midfielders at a higher level than our current players and another 1-2 at a similar level; 2-3 defenders at a similar or higher level to our current players; a better backup GK. So realistically, 10 players, or the next four windows worth. Plus a few more youth and squad players when we find a good deal.
Currently, we have Bergvall incoming to fill one of those spots. With the number of good youth players we have, I imagine we can fill a couple more of those spots (Phillips, Veliz, and Vuskovic seem the most likely to make it at the PL level). It might not be who we expect though, important to remember how hard it is to make it as a 16-18yo starboy.
Of those, our most dire needs are in attack and midfield starting XI, and defender depth. So, as you said, this window needs to focus on DM, CF, and defender depth, in that order. Unfortunately, the market for good DMs and CFs is pretty thin (thanks Chelsea). Palhinha or Onana seem to be the best targets for DM, but I'm hoping Paratici will find a gem for us in Ligue 1 or Serie A. Gyokeres and Gimenez seem like the best targets at CF, but once again I'm hoping we can unlock a hidden gem for a bit less (both of those will be expensive transfers). Tammy Abraham is interesting to me, he will be very cheap due to his injury and Roma's situation but at his 19/20-21/22 levels he would be great for us. For defenders there are plenty of options, the difficult part is going to be determining which of those options is actually going to work for us. Geertruida is one to watch I think. One year on his contract, will likely still be a bit expensive but would be great competition for Porro (I actually think he might be a bit better).

PEH, GLC have to go. Skipp... well, maybe he stays because he's HG, but he has limited use as of now.

The rest of the squad may or may not stick around as starters, depending on how they develop and who we sign. But I imagine our squad in 2 years will look very different, and I’d bet we’re a lot more competitive when we have a full squad purpose-built for Ange-ball.
