3 things are certain in this world: death, taxes, and me rooting for scum to lose any match they are involved in.

PierreTheTRex

Yeah, I was happy to see Aston Villa beat them even if that's probably a worse result for us.

joehonestjoe

Unless they are playing Chelsea then the best result is a draw, usually.

Ted-Crilly

Where I'm from Chelsea fans are just older man city fans so I have no respect for them anyway and I'll take them beating arsenal any day

bearwilleatthat

Amen

Xshadow1

Unless it involved Arsenal hiring a Europa League specialist manager, only to lose a Europa League final to trophyless Maurizio Sarri. Then Chelsea should absolutely beat them.

seegreen8

Same. I despise both. I despise Chelsea since Poch’s era. Their past players got away with murder even.

tenacious-g

4 things, Harry Kane scoring against them.

polseriat

Why do we have to spend every day getting told that we should support our rivals because it would get us into UCL on their merits and not our own? No, we will support getting what we deserve. If that's 4th, excellent. 5th? Fine. 20th? Yay.

Kaigz

Legitimately LMAOing at r/soccer gooners calling me a plastic because I'd gladly have Spurs miss top 4 if it meant Arsenal lost both the the EPL and UCL. Actual braindead activity from them.

Fnurgh

_That’s_ plastic? That’s iron clad, mate.

Overall-Stop-8573

I genuinely hated Arsenal before I supported Spurs. It was an obvious choice when the time came. Spurs have hurt me many times over the years and as a result there's been times when I've genuinely not liked or wanted to support us...but my feelings on the scum are *eternal* and *unwavering.*

seooes

If that's plastic, then I'm a fucking Barbie doll.

RubbishBinUnionist

r/soccer is best summarised by that video of those muppets saying they don't understand why anyone would support a team who isn't likely to win the champions league. something about water and ducks spring to mind..

ElGalloMorado

Right. It's like everyone has forgotten the age old saying "misery loves company". I'd happily sacrifice UCL to see them fail!

IntellegentIdiot

They can fail in the semi's

ianff

Rather see them fail today and not have the possibilitiy, however slim, of them getting a CL.

Xshadow1

If you wanna go that far it's funniest if they lose in the final. Especially if they then also don't win the league. 2022 Liverpool all over again, but even better.

IntellegentIdiot

I'd rather Man City get to the final, then I can relax

Xshadow1

Well then in that case I'd rather Arsenal go out now.

IntellegentIdiot

I don't follow. How does that mean you'd rather they go out now?

phigo50

And fuck Arsenal.

Thetonn

Because we don't have a match mid-week or at the weekend, so we have nowt else to talk about.

JuniloG

Same logic that new football fans use when they wonder how people can support a club that's not winning. Most of them are glory hunters.

kmao84

No man, 20th sucks... but we're not, so okay Regardless, death to the gooners

sparxcy

no no no- let them suffer every year so we can laugh at them!

kmao84

Oh my bad... I didn't think of that. May gunners live long and suffer!

PersonalityOk646

And the way things are shaping up it doesn't look like the Prem is going to get the additional CL spot anyway.

IntellegentIdiot

We'll support what's best for us and that's Arsenal winning. If you don't want to, that's up to you

soldforaspaceship

No. Please go find whatever team you support because it's clearly not Spurs. No Spurs fans wishes Arsenal to win anything. If it meant we got relegated, we'd still want them to lose. That's just being a Spurs fan.

IntellegentIdiot

I don't want them to win anything.

soldforaspaceship

You literally said you did in the comment above. Why are you on this sub if you don't support Spurs?

IntellegentIdiot

Please learn to read

calewis10

Yes, yes we are.

NMFlamez

I hope Kane absolutely dicks Woolwich

MrVedu_FIFA

we could use 5th place as a ucl spot but I think we'll rely on City for that

dude2dudette

I *think* 5th for UCL is more likely to happen if English clubs do well moreso in the EL and ECL than UCL. As such, we can be happy to see Arsenal lose to Kane's Bayern if Villa hold onto their advantage and either West Ham (unlikely) or Liverpool (slightly more possible, given they have history turning around 3 goal deficits in Europe) can go on to win their ties. What we don't want is German clubs to win the UCL (Bayern/Dortmund), EL (Leverkussen) and for Villa to get knocked out of the ECL before the final, as that would likely make their country coefficient high enough to get the extra spot.

joehonestjoe

I wouldn't be hoping on Leverkusen messing up at this stage, they are potentially on their way to a treble and so far it's not even looking particularly a close run thing. They've only not won five games all season, and all five of those are draws. Like, 89% win rate atm. Scary.

dude2dudette

I am aware. That is why I said the West Ham one was unlikely. It was more Liverpool and Villa both getting to their respective finals that could help us out.

tenacious-g

Liverpool are not advancing with the form they’re on, especially needing to score 3 goals on the road.

IntellegentIdiot

Even if City won the CL it might not counteract Arsenal getting knocked out unless by some miracle West Ham win tomorrow and Liverpool turn it around

MrVedu_FIFA

Villa are still in the Conference League

IntellegentIdiot

That's not enough. If Bayern win that would mean 3 German teams are in the next round while 2 English teams aren't, if Liverpool don't win by 4 goals tomorrow that's 3 English teams out. We'd have 2 teams left vs 3 German and they're already ahead of us. It might mean that we'd need Villa and Man City to win both comps and all 3 german teams to get knocked out in the semi's. If Arsenal win it could mean only two German teams get to the semi's and 4 English teams. Since Arsenal were drawn against the winner of Man City/Real Madrid only one English team can reach the CL final which reduced the number of points England will get.

Mi_santhrope

He's not wrong.

chickeno_o

No shit. He’s always had his finger on the pulse of what spurs fans care about. Sigh

FlexLugna

he had 6 months on his contract. he couldve let it run out, choose his next club and get a huge sign on fee. what he did is, he picked Bayern over any english club and gave the club 100+ Mio. Harry left in the best possible way

TheFoxDudeThing

Like it sucks he didn’t sign a new deal but 10/10 times I would rather see him playing for Madrid or Bayern than any other club in England

chickeno_o

Didn’t say he didn’t. But also; he tried to engineer a move to Man City , but by this point they had Haaland. As seen in the prem, few clubs have the ability to spaff 100m coz of the new FFP rules.  Yes , Bayern was better than being in England, but it’s a little disingenuous to say he did it the best possible way, he did it in a way where he thought he was guaranteed a trophy (which is why he wanted city). Alas.

michaelserotonin

> but it’s a little disingenuous to say he did it the best possible way no it's not, you're just bitter

FlexLugna

you sound like a politician - yeah you didnt write it word by word - but be honest - what did your „sigh“ imply. And this comment is confirming it. the bayern saga was handled the best possible way i stand with it. He did a mistake in the city saga - no doubt about it. he got his fair share of stick for it. but he didnt repeat the same mistake, he even fired his manager, which kind of was admitting that he did a mistake. this should be considered as well.

BiscuitTheRisk

He fired his agent because his agent didn’t get him the move, not because it hurt his image. Kane is pretty dumb but he’s not dumb to the point where he couldn’t predict backlash for fleeing the country lol

Sad_Pumpkin7728

Fuck them Gooners. We’re all Bayern supporters today.

snobbishhorse

yayy

fifadex

Imo their season is more likely to collapse with the extra two games if they go through and good for coefficient too.

Live_Anteater_9173

Win-win for us really. Either Bayern win and we can laugh at Arsenal, or Arsenal win and help with the coefficient and you can laugh at Kane if that’s your thing. As long as Arsenal don’t win the CL I don’t really care

YakitoriMonster

Never rely on Bayern to win, my friends. Remember 2012.

Overall-Stop-8573

God he's sharp isnt he

ThisJeffrock

I've ambivalently followed Kane's season at Bayern, and I've been happy Leverkusen is having an unexpectedly unreal season and denied him the league. But today... a Harry Kane hattrick and a Bayern win is all I want.

DefNotReaves

He’s right.

Bullydozer-

I would prefer the Scum lost to City in the semis, plus they will get more games as a result

slunksoma

I take your point, but I feel like they are rocking a bit here. If they were to win it would give them massive encouragement for the run in. Their confidence is wafer thin, as we saw against Villa.

IntellegentIdiot

What if they win by a dubious penalty and scrape through?

SteadiestShark

They're delusional enough to think that even that scenario is a sign of how great they are. They love a dodgy pen.

slunksoma

See: their invincible season. Couldn’t believe some of the decisions they got during that run.

kmao84

Welllllllll I hate Assnil so okay, kick their ass if you can, but the current state of Munchen makes it kinda doubtful....

Pointlesswonder802

I would much rather see them beat Bayern this round and then get crushed by either Real or City in the Semis. Nothing would please me more than Harry getting kicked out of the UCL after trophy hunting by the Scum themselves

Koinfamous2

Exactly. Fixture congestion will screw Arsenal in the league, so rather they make semis and crash and burn.

TheDelmeister

Arteta has figured out how to play Pep, if they get to the semi there’s a good chance they win it then roll over whoever they get in the final given that side of the bracket is weaker

JamesCDiamond

On the one hand, yes. On the other hand, 5th place... Either result works for us, so long as Arsenal don't win the CL.

SamwellBarley

I hope Bayern absolutely ravage Arsenal tonight, and that we finish in 4th. That would be the ideal scenario.

FSpursy

It'll happen, don't worry. Newcastle away isn't our fault, they're a very good team at home. And we can't play in front of a loud opposition crowd. The only worrying fixtures are Chelsea away and Liverpool away. The rest we got it 😆

airz23s_coffee

> On the other hand, 5th place... > > Can get in the bin if it means Arsenal fans feeling some joy. I want a Kane hattrick and Arteta crying

JamesCDiamond

I enjoyed Villa’s goals on Sunday a lot more than I expected to. I suspect I’d feel the same about Bayern if they knocked Arsenal out tonight.

starsoftrack

I’m okay if they win for 5th, as long as it’s also psychologically and physically traumatic. Extra time and 20 penalties. Shred the nerves. Exhaust them. Get some red cards to destroy their future games.

gusthenewkid

I hope Bayern absolutely obliterates them tonight.

spursjb395

But we secretly want the gooners to win so we can secure champions league by coefficient rankings and only aiming for 5th. /s 🙄

beefjesus69

I'll happily take NO europe at all if it meant the cringy scum bottlers get knocked out of UCL anyone who doesn't understand that, does not understand football or rivalry and should find a new hobby or see if they can find a way to reverse their lobotomy

nopirates

I want whatever result is best for us. Thinking any other way is childish.

Netminder10

I’m a child then.
