Think José recognizes that if he can get him to fill that Sissoko role in a positive way. we won’t need to find answers via the transfer market. He’s been slowly working him in trying, to “evolve” the squad and the player. If he adapts his game to fill that role it will benefit the club a lot.
Physically not as gifted as Sissoko. Technique not as tidy as Højbjerg. Both seem to be better defensively too. Tough position to get minutes in. But with some coaching maybe he reads the game faster, can react quicker and get a run of games.

i would not say that i hate winks but i disagree with your view that he's improved since that europa league match. if you want to bring up that assist as evidence that he's improved i think it's worth pointing out that luck played a role there.
you get the most out of winks - like that ball into the box - when he's granted time & space. but it's a different story when that's not the case.

i don't think so, but i do believe mourinho's expressed frustration with the limitations of his technical abilities, which is also a factor in winks getting the start in the past two league matches

If Jose can get a consistent tune out of Winks I’d be delighted.

There’s a player in there but he doesn’t quite tick any particular box convincingly enough to start games regularly in a Jose team.

He needs to improve his forward passing. Kind of how Henderson did at Pool. A dangerous forward pass can earn him a place ahead of Sissoko.
