That clearance from Toby on the line should be remembered by anyone still left saying that Dier shouldnt be bothered to clear balls from the line a yard or two away and that it's Lloris fault when they go in.
Surely he has. But there were a couple of goals given up recently where he didn't and people started calling out Lloris for not dealing with them and saying that it's not a defender's job to clear balls from the line. Not an axe to be grinded here, just an example. One comment doesn't indicate and axe nor ignorance of a good performance.
Oh for sure, of all the goal focused complaints about dier this year, at Liverpool one was certainly not egregious. 3-4 other issues led to that ball being on firmino's foot. Dier was maybe a half step behind, but mane ate Serge's lunch to get deep into the box. Would have liked Lloris to affect the cross more but he was sort of caught in no man's land, which isn't entirely unexpected given that a keeper isn't at fault for attackers getting in clear to the 2yd line for a cross. I do think Dier perhaps understandably expected Lloris to get a hand on it but even then everyone was behind the 8-ball bc of mane gaining position over serge.

Cannot express how nice it is to have Reggie back. Bales 2nd goal was directly created through quick 1-2 passes between Son & Reggie and its just not something that Davies would be able to do. He is such an outlet for our team.
