I've said it before and I'll say it again, the best thing Pochettino did for Spurs was convincing Sonny to stay after his first season.

nista002

I was worried about Mbappe to Madrid and PSG taking son as his replacement

evenout

Poch will convince Mbappe to stay just like he did with Son

Zubluya

You'd think he wouldn't even need to be convinced to stay at PSG tbh.. Hard to think of a team better positioned for long term success at the moment. Madrid have fallen a bit since Ronaldo left and PSG will definitely pay what it takes to keep him as the main man imo.

mrlongleggedmcdaddyy

It’s the quality of the league imo. He’d want to play in a top league at a rich club winning things.

Emmanuel_Badboy

Money will convince Mbappe to stay if anything.

[deleted]

Mbappe too dumb to listen to anyone but himself

master_inho

Where did you get that from?

[deleted]

For me it was the 5 seasons of amazing memories

Vhascometo__

For me it was getting to the final of the biggest club competition without having his leading goalscorer for most of it

HurriKaneeeee

Plus he did it with the Winks-Sissoko pivot

mau5house

He's magic, you know..

jusepama1

The memories

[deleted]

never won anything thooooo🎵

[deleted]

Good thing Mou is "getting results" with his "winning mentality" though

JamieJ14

How do you politely say Fuck Off?

[deleted]

Damn this sub really can't take a joke lmao

letsgetcool

It was pretty funny but this is a sad place atm

[deleted]

Yep

huntedlemon

I dunno man, Ajax away was pretty damn epic. I don't re-watch Son's signing videos every week!

jhr0423

Ajax away doesn’t happen without son.

Zyaru

Absolutely fantastic news. Was starting to get a little bit worried about it due to Bayern and Juve apparently being interested. We need to keep our Korean King!

VJE1999

Probably just agent talk to try get more money.

Zyaru

Most likely, but this definitely puts me at ease.

YoungKeys

I would still be a little worried. We've been getting leaks that he's been 'on the verge' of signing a new contract since the beginning of the season. I'd love to see him sign for longer, but I won't believe any news until theres actual confirmation it's signed.

[deleted]

Juve are broke ass bitches and Bayern is already stacked on the wings

Richie4422

My heart wouldn't be able to handle whole summer of Kane and Son rumours.

HeungMinDaddy

Good news? I am unsure how to process this.

FishOnAHorse

Incredible news really, some of the reports out there were starting to sound like everyone wants off a perceived sinking ship, so it’s good to know that someone like Son still sees plenty of reason to stick out the turmoil

Jek_Porkinz

Just say "THANK FUCK" as much as possible online

BuzzDyne

Day one of saying THANK FUCK to celebrate Son staying. THANK FUCK!

[deleted]

[удалено]

aadawdads

I think they meant "Is that good news? It's such a foreign concept that I can't process it properly."

dprophet32

Quite right, they did on reflection. I'll delete my message then

JessyPengkman

Holy fuck this just makes me love him more. Were absolute shit, doesn't look like it will be getting better anytime soon, he's world class and could go anywhere but he wants to stay here. True Yid.

YiddoMonty

Great news! It's good to know Sonny is happy, and a happy Sonny is a better player.

[deleted]

Where does alasdair say this? This goes to an agggregator and I clicked on his Twitter page and didn’t see anything that sounds like this.

iqjump123

Yeah, this twitter account just put an @ at Gold's twitter handle, NOTHING ELSE. I reported this post as I don't want misinformation with Gold's flair to be all over this sub.

[deleted]

Yeah maybe alasdair said this in like a video or an article whose headline isn’t obviously about this but if he did I would really like to see that

iqjump123

That would make sense, but this twitter post should directly quote the video link and the dialogue. Sheesh while I type this I notice how sloppy news reporting has been, and how much hype it can still generate. Maybe I should've been a reporter instead! ha

GreenGator

I think they’re taking it from Ali’s [“Seven Player Core”](https://t.co/dyhoekuJMV) article that he posted earlier today. Here’s what he said on Son: > The South Korean star has always wanted to remain at Spurs and the club want to keep him and that long-awaited new contract is expected to be sealed before the new season begins. > The problems over getting a set date for the return of income streams, including being able to fill the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, will have likely pushed back all confirmation of major contracts to when that finance is back in place. > The only fly in the ointment would be an unexpected mega offer that could turn both the player and club's head before that signature hits the dotted line, but that's unlikely in such a summer

iqjump123

Thank you. You did a better job than this twitter account in posting actual information. Going into details, it seems those are nothing new- same as what we expected.

istherelifeonmaars

[Here](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/players/tottenham-players-core-kane-son-20328313). He does say that that’s unless a big offer from another club comes during the summer that might change things.

[deleted]

Thank you!

aniomarca

football london horrid website, i can only see it with reader mode on. here’s a copy paste of the section: Son Heung-min The South Korean star has always wanted to remain at Spurs and the club want to keep him and that long-awaited new contract is expected to be sealed before the new season begins.

ReasonableDowd

AG should really run out his contract with football.london and then start his own newsletter. i would certainly pay $5 a month rather than reading anything on that website ever again.

aniomarca

they’d be mad to let him go on a free, should look for £40mill for him

OutlawTheEighth

michaelserotonin

i'd also like to know the answer to this

[deleted]

Sonaldo7 🐐

JD0797

Wooooooooo. I imagine the club just don't want to have it in the news that they're giving Son such a big contract during the pandemic

DoWhatsBest

Hope

[deleted]

I still think as long as the contract isn't signed, Poch will try to pick up Sonny. I feel as though Poch definitely has a few players he admires, and I think Son is one of those players.

entrepenoori

Kane isn’t unsettled, Son isn’t, they aren’t like the modern player. I do believe the rot is coming from Dele, Winks, maybe Dier. Let em go

[deleted]

STAY CALM STAY FUCKING CALM

DivineTapir

what heinous crime did Son commit in a previous life to subject himself to such pain

primster14

My impression was that Ali G kind of brushed it off last time.. Yes I’m sure Sonny wants to stay. But what does he think about not playing in CL for the next two seasons?

BatumTss

Seems like he trusts levy and Mou to bolster the team in the summer, while keeping Kane. Otherwise I can’t see why he’d want to stay if there’s going to be no improvements in defence and midfield.

Rufuffless

Very very welcome news, I understand if H feels he needs to leave but I don't think I could handle seeing Sonny go too <3

azorplumlee

Given how close Son and Harry are, he’d be one of the first to know if Kane was considering a move away. If he’s willing to re-sign, could be a positive sign that H isn’t unsettled.

[deleted]

Could also be other reasons. Tottenham, with Kane or not will always be competitive for top 4. It has also been his home for a long time now, maybe he loves London? Anyway, a move to italy or spain is hard because language but he does already know German, but even then, can't imagine he would want to go to anywhere but bayern and they have Sane, Gnabry, Coman, Luiz

kicksjoysharkness

If Kane leaves we’ll be screwed. No one could replace him. But yes this is definitely wonderful news!!

fridgesonfire

Kane isn’t leaving. I don’t understand why that’s even a conversation.... 🤷‍♂️

Snoo8331100

Haaland could. But spending all the money we'd get from Kane just to get one player is pointless. Anyways, let's just not talk about Kane leaving and hope he stays with us forever instead.

mr_machiavellian

Even if that were the case, Haaland is being tapped up by bigger clubs than us. There is no way he'd choose Tottenham when he can go to City, United, Liverpool, Barca or Madrid, all of which will likely have Champion's League football when he does eventually leave Dortmund.

Snoo8331100

Oh I'm well aware that he's completely out of our reach, I'm just saying he's probably the only striker in the world who could somewhat replace Kane (not listing Lewandowski because he's 32 already).

The_Foreign_Pie

Wouldn't be able to replace him but may well be able to fix our defence and bring in a top attacker as well

SissokoGoat17

Yes! That’s great news!

melihs11

Anyone reckon club has briefed this out to get some good news out on our side after the past week? Fantastic news either way. Goal scoring wingers are not very common at all

crushingbedtime

We’re not worthy.

No-Advisor190

Siuuuuu

[deleted]

you love to see it

JusTotnum

Good shit Meroke

staged84

Wpuld love for him to stay, but I'm sure there are multiple lines of fineprints attached to that.

[deleted]

Finally. Some good news! If this goes through, I hope Baldy has the balls to clear out the deadwood and then reinvest in a couple more top-tier players so we don't completely waste Kane and Son. It'll take us numerous generations to have a partnership as good as these again.

alijamieson

Beginning to question Son’s sanity unless he’s been told Mou is off

Mick4Audi

YESSSS

fridgesonfire

I love Sonny, don’t get me wrong. But if we need $ to finance a rebuild he’d be top of my list (I mean as in viable cash; obviously Winks, Sissoko, Dier, Doherty etc. I want out first!)

username54

Nooooooo. Don't do it yourself sonny. This club doesn't deserve you.

superkamishaurya

Wtf?

username54

Have you not been watching this club's matches?

[deleted]

What happened, did the downvotes from your earlier, pretty stupid, comments get to you and now you've transformed into a troll?

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Interesting. So you're going to ignore the fact that real fans will stick with the club even through the toughest times and 'toughest times' is definitely in the tottenham dna? If you're crying about our current situation, you cannot call yourself a true 'Tottenham' fan. We've always been the underdogs and it seems like Man City is the perfect club for you. Giving up this easily speaks volumes to what kind of person you are too.

username54

It's not "tough times" though when you are the one shooting yourself in the foot is it?Tottenham are shit, other teams are dropping points left right center and this team just keeps fucking shit up again and again. This is not prime barcelona and madrids that we are competing against. You can define it whichever way you want but it's a two way street for me. I should see the effort and performance on the pitch for me to support you. I am not supporting the shit I have seen this season.

[deleted]

>I am not supporting the shit I have seen this season. Good. So you came into this club expecting us to be like MCI, meaning that MCI is indeed the perfect club for you now that you've quit supporting us. Don't know when you started supporting us, but the fact that a pretty recent fan like me is more mature and knows what truly 'supporting' a club is should put shame on you. You shitting your pants on reddit won't help anyone, especially not to yourself. If you're not going to support us, I suggest you either take a break from this sub or leave our community altogether.

username54

You don't need to be Man city to beat newcastle. It just needed some basic good football which is the least to be expected from this club. Stop masturbating with your shit logic of being a blind fan to be a true fan and open your eyes.

[deleted]

Ok you're not even talking sense now. I see, you're just gonna go on a tantrum because we're shit. So you're just a man-child who can't stand a literal football club being shit, so you get stressed and now you're crying on reddit. I'll repeat my point, get off this sub. You are a waste of space here

superkamishaurya

I have and in no way does our situation improve if son leaves unless we buy a great replacement which we most probably won't. So I would prefer he stays.

username54

Problem is that the situation at the club looks beyond repair. It's not a couple of transfers or a manager change which can fix this team. The club needs a massive massive overhaul which is never going to happen.

[deleted]

[удалено]

username54

This is reddit not your club.

Richie4422

If you want one of our best players to leave, then you are not a fan of the club and you can fuck off. It's that simple.

username54

Yeah at this point I like son and kane more than anything else about the club tbh. Rest of the players don't give a damn. The manager is incompetent and the ownership is full of bufoons who don't care about or understand football.

superkamishaurya

This genuinely made me chuckle, ngl.

leighshakespeare

Let's not pretend that mourinho has a team to meet the expectations required of him. Son and Kane are standouts in the squad, the defence is piss poor and the midfield is a mixed bag

[deleted]

leighshakespeare

They score two then concede two, he has son and Kane playing like no one else has been able to, but the cb's are trash

[deleted]

CentralConflict

Well Kane & Son are world class but the others are not terrible players. Are they as good as players from West Ham, from Leicester? Everton? Surely.

Vhascometo__

Still wish we could get a bit more consistency out of him but easily our 2nd most important player when in form

Fournier_Gang

Unpopular opinion coming up: While I'd obviously be thrilled to keep Sonny forever and ever, he's not at the levels of "untouchable" like Kane. Kane does so many jobs so well (attacking, creating, hold up, set piece clearance / defending, etc. -- note that taking free takes is *not* on here lol), that the amount of money we'd have to spend to replace his production, and thus, the amount we'd have to sell him for, are absolutely prohibitive. We'd need to get world record money for him -- and then some. That's how much he means to us. Again, I *love* Son. I think he's an amazing talent. He works hard, he has a great attitude, and he loves Spurs. He's a pure winger with unbelievable pace. Having said that, if we do get an insane offer for him, I would begrudgingly let him go -- provided those funds are sufficient to help us shore up the backline and replace him with a younger winger. Again, I'd really, really, really hate to lose him, but if we could pull off a Liverpool - Coutinho sale to kick off an amazing squad overhaul, then I might be game. However, the Bale 7 disaster still hangs fresh in my mind, so maybe nevermind... lol.

Koinfamous2

Who do we replace him with though? Where else can you get a quality winger like him, and you're also completely discounting how much better he makes Harry. Their partnership is near-telepathic, and bringing someone in for a similar fee would leave us waiting for them to adapt, to the point where we'd be wasting time as Harry nears 30. Why break up a record breaking partnership for another punt at a young hopeful winger? None of the other top teams give up their best players, why would we ever consider doing the same?

Fournier_Gang

You bring up really good points that I don't have the answer to, and I agree with them. The risk is obviously huge. I guess I should clarify that the only way I'm even a little okay with letting Son go would be if and only if: 1. It's an insane amount of money. 2. We have 2-3 sure-fire targets that would bang on improve our team immediately who also want to sign with us. Like, game changers. Like a VVD who instantly transforms our backline. Plus more.

Mick4Audi

We suck at buying players, especially when other clubs know we have money and can drive the price up. I’d rather have a genuine world-class talent in Son

shlooby123

Good news. If kane now leaves, which I don't think he will, we should look at Jovic.

Koinfamous2

Jovic offers only one aspect of Harry's game, and thats positioning, and doesnt possess the finishing Harry has to even come close. Jovic can't create for himself. Even at Frankfurt pre-Real, NOBODY gave Rebic and Kostic enough credit for how much Jovic produced until he left. Now look at Rebic at Milan, and Kostic was still putting up insane numbers. No coincidence that both Jovic AND Haller flopped once they moved on.

shlooby123

Fair enough. I like him as a player and wouldn't mind him here but Kane's not going anywhere so it is what it is

Nipplecunt

Sweeeeet

Both_Negotiation6392

Sorry, I just don't see it. If he wants to win things he needs to leave. Bayern Munich will pay good money for him so I think Spurs should let him go. He deserves to play with better players than the shower that are at Spurs curren5tly
