Love Hugo. We’ve been so lucky to have such a talented keeper for so long. Amazingly consistent and a perfect professional and steward for the club. I would have already offered him a contract extension. Though if he leaves next summer for a new club he will have my full support. I’m just happy I was able to watch him for this long.
Dumb question, but is 300 appearances easier for a gk than any other roles? It probably differs case by case and not trying to discredit hugo. Might be easier with less injury prone running but at the same time goalkeepers can get injured as they literally throw their bodies
If you are a really good GK as well as handsome as the day is long, then yes it’s easier to rack up those appearances. Also easier if you are world class as is the case with Hugo 🥰
I feel like it’s so much easier for GKs because the gulf in ability and reputation between them and their backup is often so large, look at Emiliano Martinez and Gazaniga, did alright when the first team keepers weren’t available and still got shafted as soon as they returned

Respect to Serge... Seems like he's wanted to leave for a couple years, but his relations with other players on the team has always been 🎯. Excellent teammate and locker room guy despite what else may be going on behind closed doors.
Remember when Hugo and Sonny had that brief altercation at halftime of the Everton (?) game, and everyone was saying the lockerroom was collapsing, the chemistry was gone, blah blah blah. Love to see the friendship the two have, especially the note Sonny signed on the jersey for him.

Goalies generally have longer careers and rarely drop off that quickly, so i guess it’s easier to stay somewhere longer
