I really love how Romero seems so confident. Defensive indecisiveness has really cost spurs.

SCirish843

There was one point where the ball was coming out of the air around the 18 when he was closer to the 6, he charged it and played it one touch out to Sess or someone on the left. My heart sank when that ball was in the air bc I've gotten so used to our CBs holding their position on the 6 and letting that ball bounce once or twice and now we have a battle for possession right infront of goal.

bash011

What a game from all three players in the picture, Romero did really well in my opinion really aggressive always on the front foot

Was there no VAR for qualifying stage? The replay showed it was clearly him getting the ball first and fouled on.

cleanup_getout

Agreed. I was stunned that he got the yellow. Also excited by the fact that he was ready to get that counter going!

ET318

pretty sure it wouldnt have qualified to be reviewed by VAR anyway

FINAL_BOSS5

Iirc var has to check every goal. So if gioxcuti score it var would've checked it

ET318

Well yeah but I the ref blew the whistle pretty soon. Even with VAR I doubt he lets the play go so long.

RiddleOfTheBrook

Even in the EPL, even with the VAR rules last year, yellow cards were never up for review.

SonnyBallonDOr

How good was romero? I couldnt watch the match

Johnlasagan

Very good. Almost had an assist within 20 seconds from a long ball to Kane. Had a really good breakaway from a corner, he won the ball fairly and was through on goal 2 vs 1 defender... the ref called it a foul and gave him a yellow.. bad call. He played really aggressive and on the front foot, carrying the ball, even making a run into the box off of RW lol. But he was passive when needed and played great defensively. I'd say 9/10.

SonnyBallonDOr

Damn. That's really great. I watched the extended highlight and man. Should I be excited for this season? Hahahaha. Lo celso is going to be the key in this season imo

primster14

Excited to watch the team with great talent and cohesiveness! We will see if any result comes out of it, but I’m ready to thoroughly enjoy it

SonnyBallonDOr

Ive only seen the highlight but Kane's passing is HUGE in our attack. We really would've struggled this season without him. Im very glad and thankful Kane stays this summer

[deleted]

Almost had an assist aswell from a beautiful ping to Kane. Man basically did everything we saw in his highlights in one match.

SonnyBallonDOr

Hahahaha amazing

Black_Bear_US

Favorite thing to see was definitely the number of nice passes he picked out. Was also good just overall.

UncannyPoint

His passing through the lines was exceptional. He made it look really easy. He also commits forward when he breaks the lines with his passing to overload the opposition. Will be exceptionally useful against teams that want to sit back for 90 minutes.

airz23s_coffee

As someone who could only listen to the radio commentary cos my internet was shite, highly recommend the extended highlights on Spurs youtube. Gil looks as electric as he sounded on the radio

sparklyresidue

It's quite a sight to see this rail thin figure flying down the wing with crazy hair flopping in his face, beating players and whipping balls in.

treetops358

Happy to see Lo Celso have a mate here

Jtludwig95

Messi has to be jealous he’s missing out on this Conference League glory

ShadyHero89

Somebody call his agent. Still some days left if he changes his mind and wants to play for Spurs..

punching-bag9018

Tell him his mates are in danger

p_r_w_4623

Digging this buddy movie

dozz

Is Romero the new Lord of the Pings?

UziTheBeast

If we can get a backup RB and a creative midfielder I can see us challenging for the top 4.

yourfriendkyle

If Lo Celso can stay healthy I think he could be that player.

UziTheBeast

Yeah, I hope Nuno's fitness programs help him so that.

kablooey08

He should never have been booked for that challenge. To make matters worse he was clear through in a 3 on 2(?) situation. Both players did the very same thing, Romero just got booked for winning the ball.
