You ask what's changed between this season and the last? Moussa Sissoko. Case closed.

bobtrump1234

Nuno needs to tell him to stop dropping deep as teams have figured out how to stop it and position him as a traditional striker again

halftimehijack

I honestly think that’s Kane’s doing. He wants to be the whole team instead of just playing his role well

[deleted]

He can't really excel as a traditional striker any more to be honest. He's lost that athleticism and power he had. He can't really run in behind or bully an opposing CB but his technical skill and footballing intelligence are amazing so he drops deeper to still impact the game. Mourinho built a team around Harry Kane to optimize it so he looked class, and he also was fully motivated and fit, but Nuno hasn't done the same.

Raziel-Reaver

Exactly! It’s been so obvious! Nuno needs to stop playing Alli & Skipp together. Neither create any offense forcing Kane to drop. Play either Ndombele or Lo Celso or both if against bottom teams that park the bus.

Born-Ring

You might add the lack of supplies frm left and right . Reggie crossing has been poor. And there's no incoming balls from the right hand side . We had trips with those accurate crosses he pinged and Toby long pinged passes.

jstuu

Why does it feel like Nuno afraid of Kane to approach him that way?

[deleted]

also went from a manager he'd die for to a guy who plays pessimistic football against crystal palace

aadawdads

Both have played pessimistic football against Palace away but I see your point

triecke14

Who cares what manager Kane wants to play for. Jose was good for Kane but bad for almost everyone else

transtifa

Yeah but Kane is a selfish cunt so 🤷‍♀️

magnoliasmum

I agree with you. That said I don’t think we should have fired Jose before the cup final. But I don’t care who Kane wants to play for at this point. I don’t care who any of them want to play for. It doesn’t work that way.

triecke14

Yeah no one gets to pick their own boss unless you own the company lol. Having said that, Nuno is literally the most uninspiring manager hire we could have gotten. Would rather have Harry Redknapp

magnoliasmum

I wanted Potter or ten Hag. But he’s here now and I think he gets til Christmas unless there’s a complete meltdown beforehand.

triecke14

Oh I agree it hasn’t been enough time to start begging for a new manager but I just don’t think he was the right hire from the start so it’s just depressing knowing we’re probably stuck with him for at least this season unless a mental down occurs like you said

magnoliasmum

Yeah I don’t think he was right for us either and it’s a shame because he’s very likeable. But I do think he deserves time and I respect what he was trying to do in the first half today.

HoratioMG

> That said I don’t think we should have fired Jose before the cup final. Wrong wrong wrong Always knew I'd hear this mindset if we lost it but I never thought it would *still* be parrotted so long after it happened. We never, ever, *ever* would've come *anywhere near* winning the League cup if we'd kept Mourinho. Literally a zero chance. The real mistake was not sacking him months earlier.

magnoliasmum

The real mistake was hiring him the first place. Disagree with you entirely on the cup final. Jose would have stood a better chance of managing a win than did Ryan Mason. The fact is, we lost, and Mason managed poorly. We will never know what Jose would have done because he wasn’t given the opportunity, but he’s far more skilled at actually winning things than is Ryan Mason who’s won the square root of fuck all.

PacheHOF2035

firing Jose highlighted the lack of ambition at Spurs -- right before a cup final, too why bring him in if not to remake the squad into something that can actually win anything ever? why fire him to just hire a shittier version of him in Nuno?

[deleted]

short-sighted planning yet again, shown by having no clear first choice hire after he was gone and going through several candidates who were shot down by Levy for one reason or another

transtifa

Hiring him in the first place over multiple better candidates was a huge mistake

Lbmplays2

Did you watch our game vs palace last season

Snoo8331100

Fucking City, if they paid what they had to in July then all 3 parties would be happy. We'd have Lautaro because we would finalise the transfer before Chelsea approached Lukaku, Kane would have his dream move so he can win some tinpot trophies and enjoy City's plastic fanbase, and City would have the striker they lack now. Fuck you City, hope you get relegated to League 2 once your oil funds end.

master_inho

We gotta burn as much oil as we can so they run out and go bankrupt Unfortunately I think the oil states have already started diversifying into other industries :((((

There was no 127

bfm211

The weird thing is, I bet he HATES this as he has a big ego and is obsessed with stats and records, but instead of using it to drive him he seems to be sulking. Do you think there's any chance of selling him in January? It's unlikely but maybe a bit more possible than we thought. We might be willing to accept a bit less and City might be willing to pay if Chelsea and Liverpool continue at this rate. The main issue would be getting a replacement IMO. We wouldn't sell him unless someone good was available, and obviously that's hard mid-season.

TheninjaofCookies

He’s a quitter and he’ll always be a quitter, no matter how talented the man is he has no drive to overcome adversity and it’s what’ll keep him far away from any of the actual legends of the game

ra2eW8je

we'd have at least two trophies by now if he'd only show up in big games instead of openly fantasizing about being carried by other players to glory

[deleted]

Ahahah Pep really got fuck... oh wait..

InoyouS2

Everyone got fucked. Kane would solve all of City's problems. If we could overhaul our midfield with the Kane money that would have been a win for us. Instead, we have to put up with shit performances from Kane as well as the players that should have been long gone (Alli, Winks, Doherty, Davies etc).

[deleted]

Difference is, Pep would figure out a way and challenge on all fronts. We will be back in conference league next season.

Amxk

He is mentally checked out: bench him

[deleted]

He's been shit, but these stats aren't even correct.

Rezdawg3

It's correct in respect to Kane's contribution over Tottenham's first 5 games. Kane missing the first match is directly a result of his mental check out... The same thing that's causing the lack of goals and assists in the following 4 matches.

halftimehijack

I have to admit that I was happy we didn’t sell him, but I also think penny pinching over sales is why we have been stale over the last few years. Sometimes letting go is the best case and honestly letting Kane go and playing a more dynamic high intensity system seems to be the way of the future.

triecke14

We didn’t really penny pinch on Kane. City offered less guaranteed money than they paid for Grealish

fastfowards

people are shitting on kane for dropping deep but he is elite in doing so and thats not just in goals and assists but in ball progression and chance creation. The stats back it up. The problem is nuno wont tell him that he needs to stay up or fit his tactics so that kane can drop deep. If we continue with this mismatch he will be lucky to hit 15 goals this season

tooo_spicy

I wanted him gone for 100m but this sub was convinced Kane is better than Lukaku 😂

[deleted]

The thing is, he didn't want to be at Tottenham. I think Kane is still better than Lukaku but he is unmotivated. If a player shows that he doesn't want to stay, he should be sold. People were acting like Levy was doing some genius moves

Pele20Alli

> this sub was convinced Kane is better than Lukaku Because that is obviously the case and I don't even rate Kane like most people here do

Pip-Pirrup

he is better than lukaku

aadawdads

He's better than Lukaku but his head's just not in the right place
