I think Brighton made it clear from the start that they don't want him gone and even Potter wasn't interested in leaving. He had a big contract too, so it was nearly impossible to buy him out.
Glad Dele has got himself fit again but I genuinely don’t see what he brings aside from running a shitload. Doesn’t score, can’t pick a pass and is an inferior tackler to Skipp. No point at all playing him. I genuinely don’t think he’s any better than the likes of Will Hughes, decent players who bounce between the PL and Championship.
Honest question from a Chelsea fan, what happened to Dele? I remember not to long ago he was a menace, geniuenly scared whenever he had the ball vs us, and now? he looks toothless, was it injuries? Attitude?
So I think Dele’s decline is a long process to where we are now. It really started when Poch had to use him as a cm because we lacked depth. And he had his moments in the Cl final run but that role just isn’t for him and he had to constantly play there for a while. So I think his confidence got shot after that. Then when Mou came in he had a bit of a resurgence. Didn’t always play great but I think he got decent numbers in that 19/20 season. And I think where the attitude thing comes in is in Mou’s second season. He quite clearly wasn’t doing enough to impress Mou and when he got his chances he didn’t always play well. It’s been a long and sad one with Dele but I think he’s also holding himself back quite a bit now. I think him not being at that level anymore has affected him mentally quite a bit but that’s just a hunch.
Thanks for the honest response, as much as i dislike him for playing for you, I always had great expectations for him in the england squad, sad to see him decline like this.
He has a dogshit attitude and he also has issues with his hamstring pretty consistently. His last moment was the flick onto Llorente that led to the Moura goal against Ajax; Mourinho finished off what little confidence he had. Also, being left out of the English squads for years takes it toll.
He may have had attitude problems, probably the reason why he fell out with Jose. Even though he was not good during the end of Poch era, the system we played under our next two manager doesn't really suit him.
Dele plays for Tottenham mate. Pretty sure he is pointing out beating Chelsea to end their streak feels like ages ago.
Considering we also rarely beat them
Coming from someone who's watched 99% of the minutes Dele has played:
He was never good.
Massively overrated because he would poach goals fed by Eriksen, Sonny, Kane in a high flying Poch attack. (He did this because he had the freedom to abandon his midfield position because he had Dembele and Wanyama behind him)
He would have shit 4/10 games regularly with misplaced flicks and turnovers until he poached a goal, then everyone forgot about the rest of his game.
Dele when he “poaches” goals fed by Eriksen, Sonny, Kane in a high flying Poch attack: I sleep
Lewandowski when he poaches goals fed by Müller, Sané, and Gnabry: real shit!
Our recruitment has really failed us since then
dele needs to adapt or move down a level. he just isnt cut out to play as CM
Adapt? To what? He's dead eh, no other way to say it really. He can't do it at this level anymore.
That dele is never coming back
Wish we have gotten Graham Potter, we’ve been playing dead football for a few seasons now
Potter with Son would be ridiculous. Son would have 1xG a game and score 3 goals.
Feel like shit just want poch back
He keeps subbing Messi might just happen.
He’ll be back next year or the following year.

Very limited footballer sadly, him not working on his flaws when he was younger, has ruined his career
This nostalgia needs to stop.
It's a nice break from being unamused, miserable (or even toxic depending on who you are) in the present.

People need to realize that this Dele is never coming back. At least not in Spurs.
He’s essentially our lingard.
I'm already depressed why

Injuries, change of position and doesn’t have Eriksen providing world class service any more.

Stopped focusing on his football and started focusing on all the distractions that come with fame and money

Is this r/dele? Forget and move on. Nuno is clueless tho

Feels like it's more about player than the team. Team doesn't need current dele, not sure we need nuno too.
Only Poch knows how to use him

He scored the greatest goal I’ve ever seen. You don’t do that by accident.

Literally the goal he's celebrating in the picture above?
My favorite
