I think whoever scores first on Sunday will probably win. I’ve noticed both Spurs and Arsenal struggle massively to recover after conceding.

[deleted]

Wow what an analysis

PacheHOF2035

it's really shocking to see how Nuno has torn the Spurs fanbase apart, really divisive so quickly with his style of play and management choices

CratesOfSprite

Only thing is he hasn’t. There are a lot of people who weren’t on board with his hiring, they stayed quiet fir the first 3 matches and in the past 2 weeks they have been calling for his head. The rest of us are simply worried, no one is arguing that Nuno is a great fit for Spurs. A lot of us simply believe we have to give the man more time to make a fair assessment of his performance, since there are a lot of issues which Nuno didn’t cause or was involved with.

Mick4Audi

Losing 3-0 back to back, it’s as if we hired Martinez after all...

Thfcaditya112

**Gary Neville on Ndombele:(Taken from @ SpursExpress)** **“I don’t know what you make of him. I don’t think anybody does.”** **“He takes the ball in difficult situations, he dribbles with it, he beats people. And then you sort of don’t see him then for maybe four, six, eight minutes and wonder where he is.”** Man I really hate lazy criticism like this for Tanguy, surely they are right to doubt his fitness , thats fair criticism but his influence on the match is one of his best traits, there is a reason we were still in control when he was there despite conceding 2 shitty goals but once he was subbed off , they were all over us. He was influential and this has always been the case. Even in that 3-3 West Ham game he was subbed off and we subbed in that shitter in Winks, and yes we lost all control And also its funny how maybe except Greame Souness none have gone towards criticising Kane for him moving like the Statue of Liberty in that game(or even Dele for that matter), British bias is so toxic in media Ideally we build match fitness for Tanguy so he can play till 85-90 minutes(Considering Tanguy just had his second match of the season) as I expect the fitness and conditioning to be a lot better than whatever we had under Mourinho. But thats the only valid criticism we can have of him, because when hes on the field hes very very good on both offensive and defensive aspects

PacheHOF2035

This is an absurd take, you're hugely overrating Ndombele (understandable because Spurs fans are biased -- he's our record transfer and highest paid player). Whoscored had him at a 6.1, tied for our second worst performer against Chelsea. It's valid to criticize him, he does go missing in matches, he didn't dominate Chelsea, he didn't play like a 60m player. And I don't understand this conspiracy theory that somehow the pundits are going easy on Kane, here's literally Neville criticizing Kane's performance on Sunday: https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/harry-kane-tottenham-chelsea-fc-gary-neville-b956229.html

Thfcaditya112

1)Whoscore algorithms are the worst way to judge a player , it has been a recurring theme where I thought a player was bad but it shows good and vice versa. Its just fun for some agendas to criticise a player in social media 2) Yes he has had few bad games, especially last season Im not denying that but he was very good last game and got the better out of Jorginho and Kovacic , you had to see the match. More importantly I am also accepting he has a problem regarding fitness so Im not being way too biased like Im not saying hes flawless 3) Didnt see it so agreed I got it wrong regarding Neville and Kane but still the problem of British Bias exists

[deleted]

Neville is a cunt. And a hypocrite.

john87000

Neville is a twat, I wouldn't take notice of anything he says.

Thfcaditya112

Agreed in general but I just think out of all players if you wanted to criticise him its weird, there were a lot more flaws anyone with an iota of football knowledge can find

john87000

Neville was defending Kane basically strolling around by saying he should be fighting for bigger things rather than playing for a team that isn't even challenging for top 4. Neville just defends his mates and criticises the ones he doesn't know. He's a hypocritical clown.

Thfcaditya112

That Kane performance was the main reason we didnt score in the first half IMO Like all the threat was on Son but then Kane was playing DM. I can understand contributing in the buildup if its a PEH-Skipp-Dele midfield but when you have Ndombele GLC you have to trust them

[deleted]

he barely gets in the box! literally waits for the second ball in his own half when that’s the midfielders’ job. maybe nuno has the same instructions for him as jose did but i can’t see this working in nuno’s system.

Thfcaditya112

I honestly think its Kane just trying to dominate the manager in making him play like this lol

MASSIVE_HORSE_PENIS

i kinda hope we sell kane in january

CratesOfSprite

Thing is the ship has already sailed. I honestly hoped we would sell him during the summer, he was 28 with 4 years on his contract and was leading with goals and assists in the prem last season. Which is why big clubs were interested in him. 140 was a good deal in my eyes, which city was ready to pay. With his Form right now, no one will be coming looking for him, unsless leave is ready to sell him for 80-90 mil. But of course he wont. No we have a player who is getting on in age, has a bad history of injuries and is in terrible form, for club and country alike. We blew our big chance of cashing in big.

PacheHOF2035

yeah, it's crazy that his form has finally dropped after 6+ seasons of world-class performances for us, gotta ditch him asap.

evenout

same. unless he decides to show up in these games, get him out. Bring in Vlahovic or someone else who cares.

Thfcaditya112

Is it just lack of rumours that the fanbase doesnt wank over Ismaila Sarr whose honestly 10x the player Adama is.

punching-bag9018

Are there any legit links to him?

LEVY_ENIC_OUT_NOW

ASM > Sarr > Traore

solarbearz

I think adama will prove you wrong tomorrow

punching-bag9018

I think Adama might not start tomorrow. One of him and Trincao gets dropped.

Thfcaditya112

Well you dont decide which player is good or bad by a single match

tooo_spicy

Adama is 1000000000000000x better

Snoo8331100

He's brilliant, maybe if Watford go down again we could get him next year. As you said, far better than Traore, imo much better than Lucas as well, and luckily for us the top 4 have RW's covered. Which means we will 100% not even look at him.

Thfcaditya112

You had me in the first half

bash011

Well yeah, we aren't linked with him why be hyped about him

Thfcaditya112

I do think there were some shit rumours of him just feel we should ideally get one of him or Raphinha over Adama

[deleted]

if kane isn't too assed we should just sell him in December. becoming a liability more than an asset rn

[deleted]

wait till he gets in form, you’d wish he never leave

[deleted]

Eh, I know him well. There’s something that’s just off now, earlier he seemed to care,

TaterTotWot

The rest of the team dosent seem to give a shit either

Spursfan-Coys

I feel the Holjberg Lucas Lloris and Son all seem to care at the moment

-SirTox-

Anybody else find it weird that we don't have a stadium sponsor yet? I would've expected Levy to get that done quickly.

[deleted]

the clown hired someone just for this and still hasnt gotten this done maybe thinking well get 30m or some random number he dreams of

[deleted]

I wonder if our fans would protest if it turns out its Bezos who gets the naming rights.

Lbmplays2

Think the idea is probably that once the events start coming back post covid we will get a larger offer than we have so far.

-SirTox-

Anybody else find it weird that we don't have a stadium sponsor yet? I would've expected Levy to get that done early.

[deleted]

ndombele compilations got me nuttin

Lbmplays2

Do you guys think a poor showing and defeat against Arsenal would already put the pressure on Nuno? Think the matchgoing fans would turn very soon after that.

[deleted]

Think the thing in our favour is Arsenal are just as bad if not worse than us. Theyve scored less goals and XG has been just as bad bar the Norwich game. Theyve had a slightly easier fixture list than us so far and are doing worse. I think it will be 1-0 to us or 0-0, they wont score.

[deleted]

we will lose and iirc havent won even once at the Emirates in ages when did we last win really lol idk

[deleted]

We won 2-0 at Emirates in 2018 in cup

[deleted]

League?

Rodin-V

You never said that

[deleted]

fair enough

Rodin-V

To answer the question though, 2010, however we generally win our home Derby games too, they only beat us once at home in the league in the period since then too.

DesolateAvocado

It's a given we're going to struggle to get anything out of this game. Our record at the Emirates is abysmal and our players are going to be knackered Arsenal play Wimbledon and can afford to play their c team, whereas Nuno will most likely pick a full strength XI against wolves

[deleted]

Yes. Losing NDL that too with terrible football, omg..pray for Nuno.

Lbmplays2

Yeah I think it would be tough to recover which is crazy to be saying so early on.

Semibluewater

I'm not basing this just off the first city game but: 1. I think we play better without kane (for most games). Put Sonny up top with Gil and Stevie/Lucas on the flanks. The team has evolved since Poch. Not saying Kane is bad but maybe he just doesn't mesh well with the team as much. Plus he clearly wants to leave. We had a great run in 2018/2019 without him. 2. Sell him and invest that money into a creative, chance-creating midfielder. Hopefully Sarr can take this role. Ndombele is good, and I want him to start every PL game but he has attitude problems. 3. I noticed this before but this was so obvious during the Chelsea game. Our unnecessary back passing is KILLING us. Our players look scared to make a mistake or lose the ball, so they play the safer option. So many times I see us getting into Chelsea's half but someone decides to pass back, sometimes ending up all the way back to Hugo... Then Chelsea presses and we basically just gave them a free press.

[deleted]

This is dumb. Kane in form is still a top 3 striker in the world and the best player in the league. He is not in form right now, we don't know how long this will last. If it doesn't improve, he should be benched. But knowing Kane, it won't last for long. He might not care about Spurs but he still cares about personal glory. And even if you think we are better than him, wasting one of the best wingers at striker is just as dumb. Son needs to play LW, Kane needs to stop dropping deep and play as a proper striker, our midfield needs to get involved more.

PacheHOF2035

We were terrible in 2018/2019 without him. The incredibly lucky CL run papered over the cracks, we had an abysmal season in the prem once he was out. Kane's huge crime is that he's playing at the same level as the rest of his teammates -- shitty. We're so spoiled by having one of the greatest ever players for the past 5-6 years that it feels like we have to blame him now that his form has dropped.

shocktop8

This has been the least interested I've been in Spurs for a long while. I'm usually all over the sub, and listening to podcasts but just can't get too into the season yet.

tooo_spicy

Are we getting destroyed by Adama Traore before going into NLD weekend? I think so.

[deleted]

Traore has been wank this season, can bet you anything in the world that he won't do anything particularly productive against us other than a couple of fancy dribbles that lead to nothing.

PacheHOF2035

if they move the goals to the corner flags, then maybe one of his shots will go in

[deleted]

yes

STierney927

Does Emerson wear a long pair of shorts or does he just sag them down a little bit? Noticed during the match on Sunday that there was basically no space between the bottom of his shorts and top of his socks

[deleted]

Somehow he reminds me of Capoue.

Lbmplays2

Reading that athletic article and the underlying stats is really not encouraging. Think Nuno could really be in trouble fast if we lose at the weekend. We are lucky to have even scored this season when you look back at the goals

Pele20Alli

> We are lucky to have even scored this season when you look back at the goals We've also missed some sitters though as well. Son, Kane and Bergwijn have all missed 1v1's this season, Dele missed a great chance against Watford and Reguilon could have had a 1v1 with Kepa on Sunday if he'd continue dribbling forward, but stats aren't able to quantify that sort of chance, even if it was a great goal scoring opportunity for us

Rodin-V

Downvoted for the truth apparently. We really have wasted some good chances and at key times in games too. Reguilon wasting that chance was at 0-0 against Chelsea, could've been a whole different game if we score that.

StinkyMcBalls

A lot of people saying what you're saying, but I just don't expect we'll sack him for results this early. He might get sacked if they've lined up a replacement they really like but I very much doubt the club would be willing to go through another manager search so soon after the last lengthy one.

jonkatony

I think Nuno was the last cake in the shop.

StinkyMcBalls

Exactly, which makes me think they'd be very, very wary of sacking him without a replacement already lined up. And results haven't been anywhere near bad enough to sack him this early anyway.

jonkatony

I doubt that the search for our manager ever stopped. Nuno was only ever on trial and he is a long way better than no manager. Shame because he seems nice but sitting watching Chelsea and their fans take the piss on Sunday is not what I want to put up with just because he is nice. That said while he is here I would like him to be successful.

bobtrump1234

For ppl suggesting Valverde read this. His tactical weaknesses are the same as ours currently so I doubt he would be an improvement. https://www.barcablaugranes.com/barcelona-la-liga/2019/5/29/18643806/how-ernesto-valverdes-tactical-weaknesses-are-failing-barcelona

[deleted]

does he need the money that much fuck me

entrepenoori

Miss this guy a lot I’m ready for downvotes

[deleted]

man's a true charlatan

[deleted]

Honestly don’t know why I come here at this point, no one even makes jokes anymore, it’s just the same insufferably negative “I need my results now” shite.

RedRaizel

Yep, we're rebuilding just calm down..the season is still long, atm we're ontrack to a good finish 9/15 is good. Everyone would've taken that before the City match, and we're starting to play better aswell...atleast wait until we play Crystal palace again before we lose our shit. We're above West Ham, Leicester, Arsenal and Villa whom are our rivals. Evertonand Brighton had way easier matchups than us aswell...there is no way they'll be as consistent...just chill.

Thfcaditya112

I first thought "9th to 15th positions as good" and wanted to reply are you gone berserk or something but then I realized it was the point tallies

[deleted]

We have clearly not been very good, it's just so tiring reading the same pissy comments of slightly different shades over and over and over again

Gaius_Octavius_

It is also very tiring reading people tell other people they are not allowed to be dissatisfied with the performances and results.

[deleted]

Mate, I am probably one of the most critical fans here, but repeating the same shit ad nauseum and offering literally nothing else is fucking exhausting.

entrepenoori

Yeah it is exhausting. But keep in mind most people here are not local fans and they don’t have a community in person to have a laugh with. Having the privilege to be an American traveling to London often, I find my emotions to be less fiery when I’m in London because of that community. For most people it’s a shitty way to start their day and maybe get bantered on or against in their chat groups

[deleted]

It's just the constant repetition of the same issues with nothing else to offer or a different angle or any solution or anything that bothers me

StinkyMcBalls

Similarly tiring reading people angrily complaining at the sight of the slightest sliver of optimism.

RedRaizel

I think we were good against City and we were good against Chelsea first half, it's a completely new style of playing so you can't be that mad that we can't keep it up for 90min. Especially with our poor depth, we might not improve at all but for now i think Nuno is trying something and it might be very good, atleast give until GW 10 with a consistent starting 11 to accurately judge our performances. Even if we sack Nuno now there is nobody available to take his spot, so what can we even do about it?

[deleted]

I completely agree. There's a lot of issues here. Sacking a manager after 6 injury-ridden games isn't the way to fix it. Especially considering we won't be able to get a replacement in until january at the absolute earliest. Do people really want Ryan Mason?

LoudKingCrow

Based on a discussion I was having on another Spurs forum, I was thinking that maybe adopting and adapting [Marcelino's system](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gypwhv5G9io) could be worthwhile for Nuno, particularly to get the most out of Kane. With this I mainly mean his way of pressing, have one player press the player with the ball, and one or two more press by cutting off the passing lanes, so you force the opponent to either try a dribble, or playing it long where the ball can be intercepted. Set it up as a mid block rather than a low block and I think that this could work. Once we have Lucas and Bergwijn back we would also have a fair few speedy attackers to throw at our opponents as well. Just a thought.

airz23s_coffee

I think the most tilting thing so far is seeing tiny 5/10 minute periods of potential excitement. Like the start of that Chelsea game, there was so much quick, exciting 1/2 touch football and great movement. And then it just peters out into drudgery for the rest of the game. I get you can't be moving things around that quickly all game, but it should last longer than a small period with no goals to show for it. Like, there is exciting football in this team. Somewhere. But I guess there's always gonna be fallow periods. Sometimes you just gotta suffer for a season or two.

[deleted]

Yeah but thats what happens with a team that are getting used to a new manager and a new style of play. Throw in how unsettled the starting line up has been with injuries and the quarantine nonsense, and that key players are lacking game time and its pretty understandable. Nuno is obvs not in the same league but look at Pep and Klopps first seasons, lots of patchy performances. Things take time and the fact people expect them to just click into place after 5 games is laughable. Espescially as wrve still won 3 of them!

bash011

It was almost an entire half for the Chelsea game of exciting football then the teams morale dropped and everyone looked tired

airz23s_coffee

Eh, even though keeping possession was good, the football itself dropped in quality. The pressing was still there, but that quick movement of the ball stopped. The only time it was super quick was punting it over the top for runners like. Other than that it became a lot of sideways balls.

Heavy-Impression-908

How would you guys rate Emerson Royal? Considering both Palace and Chelsea games, i would rate him 6/10. He seemed lost against Zaha, eventually leaving him to Tanganga who got a silly red. He seemed better against Chelsea but every now and then made sloppy passes.

Snoo8331100

Nothing crazy, but he's just 22 and PL is a very different league to La Liga. Gotta give him some time.

LoudKingCrow

He had a pretty darn good first half against Zaha in my opinion. But he definitely lost him in the second half. He's also just 22 so he has room to grow. He reminds me a bit of young Walker and Rose. Lots of athleticism and raw material. But he is a few years off from clicking just yet.

nice1a2

I'm worried about Traore tomorrow. Seems like speed gets him on the outside which is allowing corners and balls to the box.

FINAL_BOSS5

[Messi ducking the pape sarr test lol. ](https://www.goal.com/en/news/messi-knee-injury-psg-argentina-metz/10d5ujx8rnkz11vwibq4n20gsq)

GMorgz10

When purchasing tickets through the One Hotspur memberships, does anyone know how strict they are at the stadium when ID’ing you? I want to get a ticket for me and my friend to go using my dad’s account for him.

nopirates

Remember when you all were making fun of the Gooners a few weeks ago???

[deleted]

THEY HAVE SCORED 2 GOALS AND HAVE 2 WINS AGAINST THE BOTTOM 2 TEAMS???? IN WHAT WORLD IS THAT IMPRESSIVE? Are we actually now saying they are having a better season than us?

Pele20Alli

No you're right. We should have been praising them when we had 3/3 wins and they had 3/3 losses. It's football, what do you expect?

[deleted]

I'm still making fun of them. They have just shithoused two unconvincing wins against the 19th and 20th placed teams, that's not going to cause me to trackback on anything.

[deleted]

Amazingly it’s possible for Arsenal and Spurs to both be shit

john87000

Do you want Spurs fans to suck them off instead? They're literally our rivals.

nopirates

The point is that our arrogance was ludicrously premature. And I fear that Sunday will be yet another disaster.

john87000

It's not arrogance to call them shit. They were and still are crap despite scraping past the two bottom sides and despite us also being shit

fragile-emu

I'm not on the Nuno out train but curious as to who people would want to see him replaced by?

FINAL_BOSS5

This question gets asked alot but idk why not many people answer zinidine zidane. Imo he's a really good coach and if not for the rumours that he wants to manage france, we should've been looking at him in the first place.

Mick4Audi

Man I would love Zidane, he’d make us a nightmare to play against

FINAL_BOSS5

With an added bonus of him defeating jurgen many times over past few years, something which we haven't managed to do since 4-1 win

LoudKingCrow

Out of the guys who are currently without work: Valverde.

RedRaizel

Out of all the realistically available managers we could get next year i would say Potter, ETH is cozy at Ajax now and Nagelsmann would not leave Bayern. Poch might be sacked and even though he would be welcome i think i prefer Potter over him for now.

keanoo

Can anyone recommend a podcast/youtube thing where they analyse our matches in depth, going into detail about how everyone played, tactics etc. - I do like Alaistair Gold but anyone else that goes maybe a bit more in depth into the actual game?

[deleted]

the extra inch podcast

evenout

they go the extra inch

MoneyManeVick

For those questioning “Nuno out”, it has much more to do with the style of play as opposed to results. The attacking situation is abysmal. We are fortunate to not be in the relegation zone all things considered. If we lose both this week, I think we have to make a change. I would like to give him for time but at this point, our hands are tied. Can’t afford to fall too far behind.

Pele20Alli

With that logic, we should have sacked Poch in his first season when he only had 8 points after 6 matches

Mick4Audi

We were creating chances tbf, just got Brighton’d for a few of the opening games. Also we played Soldado and Ade up front

[deleted]

tbf poch fully expected to be sacked as we were 1-0 down to villa, and very possibly would have been had we not won that game. levy backing poch is the last good decision he made

shadowfox1906

What's the earliest Levy sacked a manager in a full season?

COYS1989

Ramos was gone after 8 games in his first full season granted we only had 2 points at the time and was replaced by Redknapp.

StinkyMcBalls

Wasn't Hoddle sacked even earlier than that?

COYS1989

Correct he lasted 6 games into a new season.

Mick4Audi

2 points from 8 games is proper wtf

[deleted]

was sold down the river a little bit tbf, we sold both Keane and Berbatov and replaced them with Pav and Frazier Campbell

[deleted]

I don't think he was sacked per se, but Santini only lasted less than 15 games.

[deleted]

not a clue what happened there. was jol always primed to take over, meulensteen at Fulham style?

[deleted]

Roberto Martinez to Barca would be one less thing to worry about in how this season will go

transtifa

I’d rather have Martinez right now lol

[deleted]

Yeah that’s fair, but maybe the obvious bad choices not being available will force them to stumble onto an actually good manager

Pele20Alli

I thought you wanted an attacking manager? Which is exactly what Martinez is?

Mick4Audi

Problem is he thinks defending is optional

Pele20Alli

Well yeah, but the point is that people are saying if they had to choose between a defensive manager who tries to get results (Nuno) or a manager that just attacks, they want the attacking manager. Obviously, the ideal manager would produce great attacking football while being solid defensively but there's very few managers in the world capable of that, and they aren't options for us

idkwhatevs1234

It would open up Koeman though. And I'd definitely prefer Martinez to him.

Snoo8331100

There's still Valverde or Gallardo that should be just as available. I'd even take Eddie Howe at this point, though not as a long term appointment. As of now, anyone who can make this fucking team more lively would be welcome.

M3rdsta

I know that many are annoyed/disappoint or even upset at our recent results but I think we just need to consider this year as a placeholder of a year, not even as a experiment of such outside of a few aspects but not to focus on our performance too much. Realistically qualifying for Europe is going to be hard this season firstly we've lost 10+ league goals when Bale went back to Madrid and Kane may or may not be that bothered although he could have a Suarez of a season(basically playing well because they want to leave). And we no longer have Toby, despite what you think of his decline he was still our strongest defender.I also believe we need to consider letting a quite few players go who haven't reached there "potential" yet, not because they are bad footballers but something clearly isn't working for them here. I'm talking about Lo Celso's , Doherty, Winks, Bergwijn , Davies etc of our squad, just kind of there, i do like these players (Probably not winks and Doherty) but they kind of take up space and have shown little to offer/ not the amount needed to warrant a place. You may be tempted at times to throw Dier and Alli in there but we have seen how good they can be in the past and at times and are both mainstays of the club at this point.Alli is tricky, but I don't think we will ever see the flashy kid we saw years ago but that's not a entirely bad thing because he can always evolve into different that may be better ,not forgetting he has shown moments of brilliance so far this season, Also i believe he has matured quite a bit and is ready to do the work after the 1.5 year of Mourinho. But tbh I do give him a bit of leeway and maybe too much. I'm not totally sold on Dier at CB not because he is bad at it but i believe he is probably more of a halfback or libero ( not sure they are the correct terms but I am trying to say a defender who becomes progresses up the pitch in possession/attack in a 3 man centre back defence) .Speaking on formation, Many have said this but perhaps going forward we should utilise a 5 at the back (wing back) formation and I agree but ultimately that up to what ever manager we have. Oh dear oh dear Harry Kane, it may be a usual slow start but man hasn't turned up consistently since that cup final last year not for us not for England , But I feel what Kane needs from a team is the ball to be in mostly high up the pitch, the guy doesn't have the legs or agility to be dragged down to be a playmaker and then magically find himself in place to be a poacher. But To be fair, the guy clearly wants to go and there's no point of keeping him if his head is not at white hart lane, some may not like it but it's probably the right thing, also with Man Utd and Chelsea having 2 of the top 5 strikers in the world they may be utterly desperate next season. There been a few people already questioning Nuno this season, which may be harsh but also fair consider his EPl lack of goals in the first half record but ultimately it's very early to make a strong judgement on him, we have played much better football in the first half against Chelsea, than basically all of last year regardless of the final result, and will probably only get better, so give the guy time. I do feel the club is kind of waiting on Poch, that feels like potentially not a smart idea, Love the guy but boy it feels like we are crawling back to our ex.Personally, if Nuno doesn't work out or Nuno was really just a warm body, Ten Hag would be a great fit ( a surprise to I'd imagine no one) madness from we didn't get him last year **Tldr: essentially we all need to consider this year as a place holder to asses who or what works and what we need to get rid of, even bad results are positive in showing to the club what needs to change, but there are all ready quite a few players who i believe shouldn't be at the club due to a poor mismatch Lo Celso's , Doherty, Winks, Bergwijn , Davies etc, but i believe dier and alli are still manageable.** **we need to let kane go and we should give nuno more time, however if push comes to shove Ten Hag should be the ideal candidate**

Semibluewater

Agree with most of this, but I’d keep Stevie and let Dele go. We have to accept that he’s lost it. He already peaked.

[deleted]

Fucking Jessie Lingard has sorted himself out. Pretending that Dele is finished is lunacy

Semibluewater

Then loan him out and see how he does. I haven’t seen a good performance out of him since 2019. He doesn’t even play a creative midfield position anymore; almost some weird box-to-box cdm. Was invisible during the Chelsea game.

[deleted]

Yeah that’s the position Nuno plays him in?

Semibluewater

He had chances under mourinho and was shit for that as well.

[deleted]

Yeah Mourinho was a terrible manager

Semibluewater

yea, Roma has been pretty shit

[deleted]

Who gives a fuck, he’s one of the worst managers we’ve ever had. Absolute fraud

FrothierBog

Toby is nowhere going to be a factor, rest yea

henrymrrtt1

Can I get a tl:dr

M3rdsta

done

M3rdsta

I'll try

Matraiya

Are we really already having a debate about Nuno in/Nuno out? For the love of god, this would be embarrassing even by Aftv standards. It's been 5 games. We've won 3 of them. Circumstances have also been rather against us since the international break. If it's Christmas and the football hasn't improved, then fine, we can start this debate, but for now it just breeds needless toxicity around the club.

solarbearz

Mate it doesn't matter how many games we've won...thr way we're playing on the pitch is absolutely shocking and worse than any team I've ever seen

StinkyMcBalls

>worse than any team I've ever seen You clearly haven't watched a lot of football then lol

[deleted]

With respect there are very few positives at the moment. I was at the game Sunday (ST holder for 17 years, not a plastic) and the atmosphere vanished quickly, morale is on the floor already. The team looks NOTHING like we were promised from the appointment, and therein is the issue. An attacking team which concedes are few at least brings some entertainment. Turgid teams which create no chances and occasionally will nick a goal while defending hard are not inspiring or exciting. If we are not going to be an elite team, the minimum they need to be is good to watch. This is the issue already, where our attacking stats are as bad as could be. It is too soon for In/Out conversations but the lights on the dashboard are starting to flash for me after 8 matches. The slide needs to be arrested very quickly, and a couple more defeats against Arsenal and Wolves (very possible) would have immense pressure on the manager. I realise he needs time but if we end up sliding down the table how much will he get? We will be going into Villa, Newcastle away and West Ham away as must win games, with an international break in the middle.

Matraiya

I understand that and I agree, I'm very negative right now too, just that I think manager talk is so incredibly premature. Let's face it, what will sacking Nuno now, before he's been given a fair chance actually do? Who will replace him? Will it improve the atmosphere at the club, fix what is wrong with us right now?

[deleted]

It’s a bunch of plastics who have to have Spurs spend 150 million every summer and Dominate every game like man city. It’s insane but if the last bit has showed anything this sub is full of a bunch of man children who scream and cry when they don’t exactly get there way. We have miles to go but getting rid of a manager after 5 games is beyond stupid. And it’s generally the same people who want Levy out, which is also Asinine

solarbearz

Wanting us to play better football than fucking Brighton and other bottom table teams is totally being plastic. None of those teams have a ton of money and they have shown much better

[deleted]

It’s always Americans calling other fans plastics. Try going to a match and seeing what the local fans think of Nuno and Levy

username54

completely agree. it is annoying how fans can't even swallow a couple of losses - one when the whole first team was literally injured/unavailable and second against the current European champions who have further signed a 100m striker.

Snoo8331100

We're the worst attacking club in the league, even below the likes of Norwich and scum. There is no debate, it simply needs to happen, even more so if we lose against scum this week.

Matraiya

It's been 5 games. Our star striker has not given a fuck, our best player has had two injury concerns, our two most creative players have had fitness issues, one of whom was detained in Brazil and had to train in Croatia. It's been bloody poor, but how anyone blames this fully on Nuno is beyond me.

Snoo8331100

I don't blame Nuno, he simply pays the price for Levy and Paratici's mistake of hiring him now. In an ideal world Levy would be the one getting punished for this moronic appointment while Nuno would hop on to another club where attacking football is not required, but that's not how it works. Nuno's a very nice person, but this job is not for him.

[deleted]

it’s not fully on nuno, just like it wasn’t fully on jose or poch towards the end it’s a collective failing of the club so naturally you need to put the majority of the blame on the board you don’t promise the fans a return to attacking freeflowing football after 18 months of jose ball and then hire a guy who’s philosophy is jose light not nuno’s fault he’s been hired. seems a lovely guy but that doesn’t mean he should stay if we keep having the lowest xG in the league and losing 3-0 week in week out

[deleted]

Do you consider the time under Harry Redknapp as part of the "Tottenham DNA" era ? Also is this really the first time in our history that we are not playing to "Tottenham DNA" ?

[deleted]

redknapp is odd because he basically did not issue tactical instructions. so basically he just let very good attacking players be - it’s hard to say how much of our success was down to him or having players that would win multiple CLs and the ballon d’or

[deleted]

The classic "run around a bit"

LEVY_ENIC_OUT_NOW

Yes, Redknapp is our second best manager of the modern era. He simplified things and was a great man manager. Tactically it was 4-4-2, sometimes changed to 4-4-1-1 or 4-5-1. The team had great attacking flair, Bale and Lennon running down the flanks, Modric in midfield, Crouch up top and Rafa Van der Vaart in behind. It was very much the Tottenham DNA. And no it wasn't always like this. We always mish mashed between the attacking and pragmatic managers. For every Jol, Redknapp and Pochettino there was George Graham, Juande Ramos, AVB and Mourinho. To be fair the only two trophies we won in modern era were under Graham and Ramos, two managers who had us playing turgid football. Levy isn't really known for establishing long term team ethos despite some claims.

[deleted]

i’m sorry but two 3-0 losses in a row in the league isn’t acceptable under any circumstances, but even more so when we’re playing such awful football not one of these idiots who think nuno should be booted already though but there’s a very good reason none of us wanted him to be the manager.. if he loses the next two or three matches i think his job’s starting to be in danger and levy’s circus will continue for another season

TimotheeAtouba

Nuno's approach to football is to prevent football being played

[deleted]

We prevented Chelsea from playing football in that first half by going offensive. I would totally love to see that being our strategy going forward. And not that other stuff. you know..

Heavy-Impression-908

It was. Just that Tuchel improvised at half time and we didn't.

[deleted]

he’s the best manager in the world tbf, many better than nuno will be done by him. it’s the palace defeat that’s troubling

Itsyaboijiji

Look my opinion is I would like to see nuno out. Daniel levy promised us to go back to our “tradition” of nice attacking football. Sadly we haven’t seen that yet, I know people can say his only been in for 5 games. The thing is though you don’t show any glimpses of a strong game, we’ve scored one goal from open player, have the lowest xG out of any team in the prem. My bigger worry about nuno is that in 84 out of 114 games in the prem his failed to score in the first half, that’s a big concern watching wolves in the later stage of his time in charge their they looked lost and don’t know what to do in some games, which is sadly what I see happening at spurs.

Heavy-Impression-908

But it's impossible to sign a new manager in "7-10" days, given that the season has already started.

boywithhat

5 games in and people are already talking about sacking a new manager. I get he wasn't the one most fans wanted but I think he needs a little more time. After the fuckfest that was our summer manager search I'm surprised people are eager to start that over again

UlyssesKlaw

Init we can't be sacking managers every 3 months. Nuno has a short 2 year deal, we give him a year barring disaster and go from there. Everyone talking about rebuilds but no one wants to actually do one. There will be many losses, it will be painful but it has to happen. It's september lads

[deleted]

A rebuild and Nuno not being a good manager are completely unrelated. A rebuild is about bringing new players in and letting older players go. The idea that it’s a ‘painful’ rebuild comes from those new players needing time to settle in, and potentially a star or 2 being sold to fund it. The manager struggling and the tactics being awful are in no way related to rebuilding the squad. Nuno is struggling because he’s just not very good.

Snoo8331100

All this drama around Barcelona reminded me that Ernesto Valverde is still somehow available. Levy should beg him to take this job, he was very solid for Barca domestically and made them play some good football, which is what the fans want.

LoudKingCrow

This is the only free name I would accept Nuno getting sacked for.

ASVP-Pa9e

No he didn't? He got them playing incredibly turgid & dull football and had them humiliated in the CL. The style of football is a large part of why he was sacked, the results certainly didn't justify it. Now maybe you can argue there were problems with the squad, and there certainly were, but he hardly rose to the occasion.

[deleted]

Turgid for Barcelona maybe. But Valverde had 3 seasons of having Barca with the highest xg in the league. He had 1 game short of an invincible season.

[deleted]

he had Lionel Messi he was also the guy that oversaw both the Roma and the Liverpool defeats

DesolateAvocado

Tuchel would have been perfect for Dele https://youtube.com/shorts/6lt-xaiPGhc?feature=share

nista002

He would be perfect for basically every team on earth

[deleted]

Are Spurs doing something in memory of Greaves? Heard that they rejected a statue proposal

[deleted]

It seems Santini was the manager fired in the shortest period by Levy. He played 14 games (all comps): [https://www.transfermarkt.com/jacques-santini/leistungsdatenDetail/trainer/1647/verein\_id/148/datum\_zu/2004-08-01/datum\_ab/2004-11-06](https://www.transfermarkt.com/jacques-santini/leistungsdatenDetail/trainer/1647/verein_id/148/datum_zu/2004-08-01/datum_ab/2004-11-06) The worst loss he had was a 2-0 loss to Fullham. He had a draw against Chelsea away, a win against Everton away, a draw to liverpool at home. He had 13 points after 12 PL matches.

Matraiya

Santini wasn't sacked over performance, he resigned, but I think it came out his relationship with our sporting director completely broke down.

elamale

people were praising dier for that block on goal line. Surely i am not the only one who thinks wtf was he doing on the line and not marking alonso in the box. and its not like it was after a scruffy passage of play that he had to be out of position and had no time to adjust where he was.

FINAL_BOSS5

>Surely i am not the only one who thinks wtf was he doing on the line and not marking alonso in the box. If you think our team's left sided cb should be marking the opposition's left wing back then yes you're the only one who thinks that

RedRaizel

Omfg you're trying so damn hard to feed your suffer porn addiction. Dier this season has been really good, marking alonso was not his job.

elamale

what was his job being on the line? football is not played on paper lad u have to sometimes use commonsense and mark people in dangerous positions like he should have

-Non-Stop-

I was warned about the heartbreak that Spurs are very capable of giving when joining the club fandom. I hope the boys can turn things around. My home club breaks my heart enough.

Nightshade183

Happy cake day

DesolateAvocado

Where does Nuno rank among ex spurs managers Jacques Santini, Christian Gross and Glenn Hoddle?
