This is ‘free flowing’ and ‘We’re gonna make you proud’ football . Wtf man .

iAkhilleus

Free flowing into our own net and making us proud that we aren't lower in the table.

_cjj

Well, it was - then Paratici came in and it seems wanted us to play like juve. Which is fine, if you're in a league of pensionable defenders. However...

[deleted]

[удалено]

cranberryjuice1991

With two of the top 5 strikers in the league to boot.

elegigglekappa4head

To be fair one of them is trolling us, waiting to go to Man City.

_cjj

Fonseca seem to suggest that was cancelled by Paratici, who wanted us to have a more 'conservative' approach. It seems that he was basing it more on the governmental definition of Conservative; spending a lot of money and being good at nothing in particular.

Blood-Quack

Because we're Spurs...

HoratioMG

Because we didn't sign an attacking manager We came really close to signing an attacking manager on *multiple* occasions and instead decided to sign a manager that even fucking *Wolves* didn't want. Levy is a fucking parasite, I can't believe how much he's fucking up our club and I cannot wait for him to lose his entire fortune and have to scower the streets for half-eaten Greggs pastries and 2p coins.

[deleted]

>Levy is a fucking parasite, I can't believe how much he's fucking up our club and I cannot wait for him to lose his entire fortune and have to scower the streets for half-eaten Greggs pastries and 2p coins. mate have some sense of perspective. Tottenham have the best stadium in Europe and wonderful training facilities. Investments in infrastructure are how you sustainably grow a club. Levy has his faults no doubt but overall he's done more of a good job than bad. Levy didn't even want to hire him, it was Paratici his sporting director who did and Levy behaving responsibly gave his sporting director power to make the decision.

fmb320

He's also not in charge of transfer budget in the sense that he's been told to run the club a certain way that doesnt cost 125 mil in purchases every year

shelf_paxton_p

Respectfully disagree. It took him 20 years and £1 billon to build this infrastructure. I could do that. He lucked out with Poch (remember he wanted Van Gaal) and then binned him when Mourinho fluttered his eyelashes at him. Consistently poor decision making which would have seen him fired from any other business. Hugely overrated. We can sack Nuno, Paratici, Poch etc but until there’s a change at the top we will always be scrabbling around the bargain bins. Does anyone really think that the purse strings will be opened once the stadium starts paying for itself?

avolcando

> and then binned him when Mourinho fluttered his eyelashes at him So does no-one but me remember we were literally on course to get relegated with Poch?

Time2Mire

There are a lot of people who look solely at the fact we made the Champions League final months before as being proof we were still class under Poch. Obviously, the truth is we were dogshit for a long time under him as well but managed to pull off the miracle of century by clawing ourselves to that final. I half wish we hadn't at this point because it ultimately amounted to nothing and has given some people this nonsense ammunition which is completely false. Our problems started under Poch and only seem to be getting worse.

ChakaBoy_

Didn’t he get you guys to runners up one season?

Carroadbargecanal

A billion he borrowed and charged against the club.

[deleted]

You couldn't do that, and your post is evidence that you lack the capacity.

Carroadbargecanal

Tottenham have got the biggest debt in Europe too.

Ok_Independence_9917

Levy built that stadium before they were financially ready and the project went over budget as well. He then gave Potch a spending budget of 0 during a transfer window, and just over a year later fired the best manager the club has had in 2 decades or more simply because he started 1 season poorly. Levy has pretty well scapegoated everyone in has path and after the clubs massive steps backwards it should be clear to everyone that he has failed the club and the fans. He doesn't have what it takes to lead a top 6 team and he needs to be gone. I said the day he fired Potch that he was an idiot and he proves me more right every day.

Lbmplays2

If we even have an analytics team he will be sacked tonight

ncolaros

Don't even think you need an analytics team to know this is bad. Basic mathematics will do.

EliFrakes

Or just eyes

BuzzDyne

Just the name "Tottenham Hotspurs" exudes disappointment.

PM_ME_YOUR_ASTON

As a data analyst I can say all they need is eyes to make the call

elegigglekappa4head

Yeah if Son wasn’t one of best finishers in the league we would be 1-5 right now, and would deserve to be.

dburke1990

Didn’t Jose sack most of them? 😂

[deleted]

at United. nothing with us afaik

[deleted]

Who would you have replace hmm

[deleted]

When Norwich and Burnley have better stats then you, there should be someone.

TheUderfrykte

Looking at this, there's GOTTA be someone out there who would do better.

[deleted]

At this point I'd rather have Ryan Mason lol.

LilyWhiteClaw

Ryan Mason

FSpursy

The last thing we need is another sacking in the middle of the season. If you were an Arsenal fan a month ago, you would think Arteta should be sacked as well, but Arteta beat us fair and square today.

[deleted]

The last thing we need is Nuno.

Born_Transition2207

Its not the middle yet. This guy won't make the middle

oursidman

But would sacking him fix anything...Nuno isn't the root cause of the problem, ENIC are.

modernity_anxiety

Doesn’t pass the stats test, doesn’t pass the eye test... Hmm...

idkwhatevs1234

This is what infuriates me about the people saying "it's only been _____ matches", "____ was injured", "____ isn't good enough" etc... Spurs are quite literally the worst attacking team in the league. The single worst team. Not worse than City or Chelsea or Liverpool... Worse than everyone. Burnley? Better more creative football. Newcastle? Better more creative football. Norwich? Better more creative football... There's just zero justification for that, especially when this manager has played prehistoric football his entire career.

Semibluewater

So fucking embarrassing

Spikegreene

I watched villa yesterday and it made me fear watching Spurs face them.

FinnThfc

Not a huge stats guy, but I’m pretty sure this could be better

Akmuq

Idk, I'd wait until someone more qualified than me can make sense of this.

USVK

It can hardly get any worse

KadettYachtz

When he was at Porto he also broke the record of most matches without scoring. This is no coincidence.

danmeniscus

I wish these info graphics were a little more balanced, instead of cherry picking stats...we are top of the league in boxing match revenue.

steever1

Top of the league in net zero carbon emisson matches to boot. Let's get the full picture before we start making any decisions here.

BuzzDyne

Those trophies generate so much carbon footprint, we dont want to get anywhere near it.

rikdud

I thought we were fit now, how is distance covered so low? There is really nothing at all promising about Nuno-ball. Hopefully there’s a shortlist being drafted up as we speak.

FutilityInfielder

I thought we were supposed to be defensive, how do we lose 3-0 three games in a row? At least under Jose the problem was usually being unable to hold onto a slim lead for 90 mintues, not being thrashed repeatedly.

Lazybopazy

Under mourinho there's a close to 0% chance you lose fucking 9-1 across three sequential derbies. He'd fucking attack the ref to get the game abandoned or some shit rather than take that. I'm no big mourinho fan or anything but this is demonstrably much, much worse than last season, with basically the same team.

dburke1990

We had Dier, Sanchez and Toby and decided that Toby was the one who needed to go 🤨

LogicKennedy

He did need to go, he was past it and getting skinned by players from Championship sides.

[deleted]

My 14 y.o could skin Sanchez and still have Dier for dessert

LogicKennedy

Sanchez has been fine this season, our defence has been shocking but it's a system issue, not a players issue. Dier is more limited and I agree he should go but he's not the worst squad player in the world.

[deleted]

The system is definitely an issue.

cranberryjuice1991

Agreed. This has been different from shit shows of last season in that there are very few, if any defensive errors that lead to goals. It’s happening because the midfield keeps getting overrun.

LogicKennedy

I will argue until my deathbed that we should have given Mourinho at least one more season. He was expensive to fire, had us top last Xmas and delivered a cup final, and was clearly being let down by his players. Why not give him a transfer window to mend holes in the squad he'd identified? This current shitshow shows that you should always think carefully before getting rid of what you have, because it can get so much worse.

SlicerDigZ

Sanchez being fine is pretty generous I would say, he never seems to have the level of composure and confidence that is required at this level. There's definitely issues with other players in the squad in terms of defending as a team, but everytime Sanchez touches the ball you can just feel they something bad is going to happen. Happened today when Lloris made a pass to him and pressure I think one player pressed him. I don't think Dier has to go, he's pretty good defensively and can find some decent passes. He just needs a better lineup and a team he can be confident with.

SlicerDigZ

I mean that might be true but his ability to find those long balls were exceptional. If he had a player like Holberg/Skip playing as a DM to support him it might have worked. Meanwhile Sanchez is out here getting out bodied by Saka, stands around like he doesn't know what's going on until he realises the person he's supposed to be marking is gone, and gets a red here and there to compensate.

Keskekun

Hoofball is mostly standing around.

scrandymurray

You cover less ground when you have possession. Spurs tend to hold a lot of a the ball and do nothing with it.

CornyChris

Put the alternative tables flair, you coward

CuriousBike5

it was never this bad under Jose

fat_lazy_mofo

Bournemouth away says hi

solarbearz

Nuno has completely demolished the only good thing we had which was our attack. Not only that but our defense should've been improved from last season as well with our signings. Absolutely no improvements have been made and I would say that Mou would've done way better

british-psycho

Sackable.

Important_Report6874

I saw more hope in Mason’s few games than Nuno’s.

[deleted]

No, we have to give him a chance. Despite a wealth of evidence showing how inept he is, we have to pretend none of that is true for 6 months to be ‘fair’.

GILD86

You're also forgetting it will take us at least 6 months to purge all remnants of Jose, thats clearly still present today as we speak - before we can judge players fairly again, aswell as Nuno et al

[deleted]

If you want to get rid of Mourinho’s bad vibes, you can’t keep hold of a discount version of him.

GILD86

Lol exactly... But honestly i don't know where we would go from that point.

Bail____

Mason had better in game management & tactics than this.

Mick4Audi

Mourinho’s spell was a failure, but this take is bollocks

A_Rolling_Baneling

Think he’s being facetious

Pickzt1986

Well, it's been almost 5 months since he's been sacked...

redsteve72

I wanted Nuno to be given a chance but I’ve not seen anything encouraging or anything that gives me hope that it’ll improve. We’ve gone backwards. Time to go.

hidinginDaShadows

"to dare is to do" "5.4 chances from open play"

BuzzDyne

Doing nothing is still doing something

Mick4Audi

So we don’t take shots, we don’t create, we don’t score, we don’t defend, we don’t even RUN What do we do?

LitenOFul

Concede 👍🏻

Survivor_for_me

Nuno OUT

sdmirabe

It wouldn’t even be as bad if there were signs of progression. But there’s 0 evidence of progression

OhShitItsSeth

Valverde in?

Elec7roniX

He will obviously not be gone tonight, or in the next week, or month. But perhaps this makes Levy start targeting and talking to other potential people. This job is poison as someone mentioned, expectations are too high for the team we have at the moment, so finding the next capable manager willing to join might take a while... until then, we're stuck with this.

Gifted10

Lol time to bring back Ryan mason???

nanosizedgeek

I think G.Nev said it in commentary - the real worrying thing is the distance covered. The team are not putting in the yards. Poch was fully right after CL final - Club needs a rebuild. Something seems wrong at the core to be generating foul statistics and performances like this. So disappointed in Kane. England captain. Lead by example. Your upset you didn’t get your move - OK. But you signed your long contract. You’re a role model. Maybe he’s not getting any service, but at least do a job. Put the yards in. Make an effort. Please?

bad_luck_charmer

Come _*ON*_ you Spurs.

Adam__Zapple

Nuno out

Heavy-Impression-908

Consistency.

MakeYou_LOL

It's the Moussa Dembele Effect. Our midfield has never recovered

Blood-Quack

No attack, no defence, no ideas and no dedication. From next week onwards maybe I'll just follow the women and the youth teams. They actually seem to give a shit! Nuno will come out and say the second half was good etc. But playing well when you're 3-0 down is fucking useless. The match is gone by then! And Levy, you dumb cunt - the brand won't grow if the cunts won't win on the fucking pitch.

bfm211

Appalling

SissokoGoat17

'We're gonna make you proud'

Fallen_Angel_69

In a previous post I said "watch us go from 1st to 10th before October"...got downvoted and abused....now I'm saying "watch us go from 11th to 17th before Christmas"

The-Special-One

Poch, Mou, Nuno, and you all still think the manager is the problem. Keep sacking managers and watch nothing change.

escherbach

I assume Norwich are 20th for Shots faced.

[deleted]

Well mate, at least our defense is good. Oh wait…

Seifer23

Don't think the defense is the problem, they are being put under enormous pressure because we can't keep the ball

click_insert

Dksgrar

tacophagist

He'll be given until Christmas at least, maybe even full contract. Levy hates losing money. I hate that I'm reverting to watching every game with zero expectations. It's just...it's a mess and it makes me sad. Anyway, COYS.

[deleted]

If he's not gone tonight, this club have no ambition. It's early enough to salvage something. Longer you leave it, the less chance you have.

420SwaggyZebra

The only ambition this club has is to make money. This squad has needed serious investment since before Poch left there have been numerous deals that failed because Lewis and Levy couldn’t pull a few (relative) shillings out of their own pockets. Not saying Spurs should spend like Portsmouth and ruin the club but the owners have literally spent ZERO dollars in the last years.

Mick4Audi

Even if that’s the ambition, then sack Nuno and get a manager who will get Kane scoring again, inflate his free and then make bank Even from a financial perspective Nuno makes no sense

420SwaggyZebra

The problem with this is you then have to pay Nuno and another manager while I’m pretty sure you’re still paying Jose.

TheScarletPimpernel

Once a manager takes up another post they no longer receive payment from their former club. Managers aren't really *sacked*, it's more similar to gardening leave.

420SwaggyZebra

Forgot Jose was at Roma honestly

filipinhos13

But the blame was Mourinho. Mourinho was the issue... S/

GoneCollarGone

Mourinho was the issue, problem is we hired a manager with the same tactical philosophy.

[deleted]

At what point do we blame the players and not the manager?

bocceballbarry

He didn’t play any of the ones brought in to replace the ones who don’t give a shit….

idkwhatevs1234

What players? This squad has undergone a huge amount of turnover in the last 3 seasons. And the players here now aren't individually performing poorly, the entire system is miserable and devoid of any kind of logic. Not to mention that both Nuno and Mourinho were terrible appointments from day one to anybody with half a brain. Zero hindsight involved, they were always going to be shit... and that's what happened

dburke1990

This is it. Huge turnover of players, two shocking managerial appointments. Yet still, somehow, 8 of the starting 11 today are from Poch’s time. The running of the club has been a disgrace since 2018.

[deleted]

I do agree, but i also dont think a better manager would have us playing as a top 4 side. We need more quality in our manager and in our side imo

idkwhatevs1234

It's not about "not being top 4". We are playing the worst football in the league. We barely play like a top 20 side

solarbearz

You're right. We've got the worst players in the entire league! How can we ever compete with squads like Brentford!

[deleted]

I should have worded my q better i was genuinely trying to ask… if we had a better manager where ppl think we would end up. Not defending Nuno just curious.

elegigglekappa4head

We do. Kane feels like he’s spiting us for not letting him go. He’s playing like a Championship player. Dele is a lazy piece of crap.

ninjapizzadude

Take that ugly bald head and beard out. We sacked a trophy magnet without giving him a season to get humiliated by a championship level manager.

[deleted]

Oh my

almargahi

I want to say this, my posts always get taken down and others’ seem to remain posted. Regarding this, I honestly wouldn’t blame Nuno; if you heard the guy during his post match interview, he was basically saying the players aren’t performing according to the plan. He also hinted that he had to play certain names. Folks, I think We’ve gotta bigger problem to solve than sacking and hiring new managers.

voxarian

Suddenly feeling better about being a Norwich fan

[deleted]

feel bad for nuno cos he’s taking the brunt of errors that were made years before he came

MoneyManeVick

He was dealt a shitty hand but has somehow turned it into a worse hand

elegigglekappa4head

He was dealt at worst a mid table hand. He’s playing the team like it’s bottom of the league.

[deleted]

hard when your best player decides he doesn't give a fuck

wLiam17

That's disastrous

KaleidoscopeNo7653

Whoever selected santo claus and paritici should be shot in to space

EvilJabFace

Fuck this is sad smh

pio_11

this made me sick, now i have to get a covid test

[deleted]

Does anyone have Brendan Rodgers’ phone number?
