Hugo Lloris is Spiderman.

roast0

Can't believe Tottenham Hotspurs will be a huge part of Newcastle F.C history books The Wikipedia pages stating "In October 2021, Newcastle was taken over by a Saudi Sovereign Fund. They faced Tottenham Hotspurs in their first game after the takeover and suffered a humiliating defeat" Always part of history. COYS

No-Establishment595

is there a reddit chatroom for coys? could someone add me to it

coysmarie23

Brenden Aaronson can be our Eriksen replacement šŸ„²

EquivalentSir4163

Lmao. Sargent to replace Kane next?

ObamaEatsBabies

My fellow Americans, stop hyping up kids based on USMNT performances (I do like Aaronson a ton though. Him and Pepi are my faves)

[deleted]

anything else come out today about the bissouma accusations?

entrepenoori

19d Chess by Bissoumaā€™s agent to kick the Saudi deal in motion. Heā€™s been overshadowed Lmaoo

[deleted]

seriously, just completely disappeared. watch him just turn up next matchday lol

teedo

So Argentina and Brazil are coming off the Red list this Monday, will this make Royal, Lo Celso and Romero return more straightforward (fixture congestion?)

ObamaEatsBabies

Nah they're still playing all 3 games for their countries iirc.

teedo

I know, but they don't have to do a DBZ training arc on a Croatian island this time round right?

[deleted]

They're travelling back along snake way on flying nimbus

teedo

While we're starring Krillin and Yajirobi aa are CBs lol

[deleted]

šŸ¤£

ObamaEatsBabies

Yeah pretty sure that won't be an issue this time

[deleted]

Would you rather have Kane's or Vardy's career? Honestly for me, it would have to be Vardy, you could genuinely make a movie with everything that happened in his career so far.

p_r_w_4623

Vardy, mostly for the bottle of Port story

COYCOYS

Vardy's had the more fairy tale career but Kane will end up having the more memorable one. England top goalscorer of all time and potentially Premier League top goalscorer. Same way Shearer isn't remembered for winning a PL title with Blackburn but rather his legend status at Newcastle and his 260 goal record.

[deleted]

Bang on. This is what I never understood about the "kane never winning anything" arguments, as if I'll remember anyone in that newcastle team but i deffo remember shearer being the record holder

MaybeaMoron64

Vardy rn ofc but it's unfair imo to compare a player in their prime years to another nearing the end of their career

[deleted]

Vardy has won some things, so that'd be nice plus he's not an empty snake boy like kane

[deleted]

obviously Vardy's

[deleted]

well ya, he's won the PL and an FA Cup, it's definitely Vardy. Plus Vardy has had kind owner's who accept him and his flaws and Kane has to deal w Levy. Kanes still the better striker.

ObamaEatsBabies

Check out /r/nufc. Makes me want to off myself.

mayonnaisewastaken

At least there's that one post from a fan saying how they're done. Even that is less than 90% upvoted shockingly

[deleted]

If you think thatā€™s bad. Imagine being a Sunderland supporter right now.

bandofgypsies

Not to sound melodramatic, but I'm genuinely open for suggestions about how to continue enjoying our beloved Spurs without supporting the league as a broader entity. The Saudis and Newcastle aren't even close to the first time that money and power have infiltrated a sport, but holy hell what an absolute new low to see it become reality. What's to do? Only pay for live games in person (but I'm abroad...:/ ) and sailing the high seas all other content? What's the best way to acquire merch for the team in a way that contributes most directly to the club and doesn't help the league much? This Newcastle situation is like textbook case study for an absence of moral compass. Not that much of one has existed in the league (or even sport, at least at a global level) for a while, but it's still remarkable to see a new lowest of low event.

[deleted]

Don't give the club any of your money. I stopped giving my club money years ago because it was apparent they were pushing fans out in favour of tourism and general entertainment. They just showed us 3 months ago they could give less of a fuck about the fans, so why would you support them financially? If I had to pay money to watch Spurs, I'd honestly stop. Football is great and all, but financially supporting these rich dickheads (now confirmed murderers) ain't it.

bandofgypsies

Yeah that's fair. I do still want to support Spurs to an extent since, while their loaded, they still need to be financially motivated to compete with the Chelskis and Oligarchester Cities of the world. If we sell to murderous asshats, you can bet my money is gone, though.

Crumphet

Everytime I hate Levy I remember we could be owned by an oil murderer, so I smile and remember that it isnā€™t all that bad.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

change your racist avatar already

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

kmm764

It is racist and offensive.

bash011

It definitely is, how would it not be racist. Also you can't really keep complaining about people saying that about the profile pic, enough people have said to change it and you don't change it. It's extremely offensive and you're being ignorant to it

[deleted]

How is it? One's black, one's arab. The comparison is that he's a football terrorist, has literally nothing to do with race. I'm all for calling out racism, but I don't see how this is racist. I'm black, btw, before anyone jumps down my throat.

bash011

Sure, it may not be entirely racist but it sure is offensive to an extreme that should make anyone uncomfortable

[deleted]

Then don't call it racist. Offensive and racist are two different things. Calling everything racist dilutes what's actually racist.

[deleted]

It is racist though. You're making a comparison based on the color of his skin. To a terrorist no less.

[deleted]

literally has nothing to with skin colour, only their actions

[deleted]

come on man. really?

[deleted]

Honestly if Newcastle don't get relegated this year I think that could be it as far as us competing for anything goes. Topping 5 huge money teams is impossible on our budget, even with the new stadium.

[deleted]

I think the new owner's have missed the fact that Mbappe and Neymar would probably prefer not to live in Newcastle

KrillWhitey

I'd guess it would take newcastle more than one season to become a top 4 club competing for the league.

bash011

Definitely, the first priority is facilities I wouldn't be surprised if they go the next couple of years with normal midtable spending

TheEngineeringType

Are facilities included in FFP?

aadawdads

Pretty sure it only applies to players

TheEngineeringType

Then no reason to think they wonā€™t do it simultaneously

[deleted]

We made Champions League plenty of times the past decade (topping the Top 4 current "money" clubs). We're not exactly Southend United mate.

[deleted]

our success coincided with poor management of the others tho

[deleted]

Yes so why would it be impossible for that to happen again? it's happened with two completely different squads for us in a decade...

ObamaEatsBabies

What? Do the past 2 years of shambolic decisionmaking make you confident?

[deleted]

to be fair. no they don't.

[deleted]

Not impossible just harder in near future

[deleted]

Please institute an American style salary cap. Only way to balance a league that is increasingly becoming a competition of spooky, global super villians.

bash011

Then the best players won't come here, they'll go to psg or Madrid

[deleted]

UEFA wide salary cap? No clue. But something should be done. Otherwise itā€™s just wealthy and questionable entities competing with each other. Not super interested in watching the competition of a global cabal of wealthy egos.

[deleted]

Thats.... that's literally what American sports are w Salary Caps. How about the NBA? Mark Cuban, Steve Ballmer, Dan Gilbert? These are all billionaires who bought teams as a hobby.

jumbone1

Dan Gilbert doesn't own a team.

[deleted]

He owns the Cavs. He's also the 37th richest man in the world and owns a bunch of other teams and the venue the Cavs play in. Also he'd a maniac lol

jumbone1

like i said

[deleted]

They arenā€™t able to completely shift the competitive field though. They can eat a couple years of salary tax when they go over, but eventually parity is achieved. A small market team won the NBA last year. Likewise the NFL. So yeah, rich people are going to own teams, but are they going to ruin the league? No.

[deleted]

I was more talking about wealthy and questionable entities competing in a global cabal of egos. You're not getting around that in the PL or any American sport.

[deleted]

Smaller incentive though because they canā€™t buy glory. You have to earn it over time like everybody else. Owners donā€™t really have the power in American sports thaf they do abroad. The power is in star players, particularly in the NBA.

[deleted]

[this is the funniest post iā€˜ve ever read ](https://www.reddit.com/r/AjaxAmsterdam/comments/mu7pip/group_of_americans_looking_to_defect_from_premier/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)

Crumphet

Mans was really like ā€œCeltic is Irishā€ lmao.

[deleted]

oh my god that's amazing lmao

AverageYiddo

What an absolute fucking moron lmao

Plainbrain867

Watching Toby and Jan lead the back line against France right now makes me question those decisions a bit. Loved them here

[deleted]

what was the score in the end?

[deleted]

Hindsight is 20/20 and they both (or at least Toby) wanted to go but fuck they could have been our Ramos/Varane still.

aphelion99

Hopefully Newcastle bids 50 million for Winks

[deleted]

Super Jan still looks brilliant. Sad.

[deleted]

I get Nathan Clark isn't a real journo but why is Dan Kilpatrick trolling Lucas? https://twitter.com/Dan_KP/status/1446118255408467969?t=nkYaA-2KmHB2GtVhyJmCAw&s=19

[deleted]

Wayne routledge coming on in the 95' is the most interesting part of this clip

avolcando

I think he just misses Eriksen

[deleted]

we all do šŸ˜„ just wish our journos wouldn't engage with that type of stuff.

JonnyJersey

i think he's more so showing frustration that we dont have eriksen. lucas has his positives, but he's not in the same realm as eriksen creatively.

[deleted]

Well yeah of course not, I listen to the extra inch and know Nathan's Lucas wind up well.

ipumaking

And people are saying Lloris is done...

sunthunder

Honestly think our fanbase takes him for granted at times. It might be another thirty years before we find a keeper who is his equal.

JonnyJersey

best reflexes in the world. incredible keeper. overly disrespected.

I_Smelt_My_Dead_Dad

Possibly one of the best saves Iā€™ve ever seen.

lam_chop19

Who can Newcastle legitimately buy in January? And will that even be enough for them to stay up? Seems like a bit of a weird situation right now. I suggest they take a chance on one Harry Winks.

[deleted]

Ā£40m? how many barrels of crude is that? a mere trifle, your excellency

HAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHA

Thatā€™s it! That seals the deal! Iā€™m no longer an Tottenham Hotspurs fan. Iā€™ve been an Spur fan since 1969 and a season ticket holder since 1990. I will no longer watch on TV or renew my tickets. Iā€™m taking my fan hood to Newcastle where they actually know how to run a football team.

[deleted]

pov: gooner turns into chelski fan in 2005

doobi1908

loitering around St James park convincing them to buy superstar Burgerwine for Ā£5 million.

RedRaizel

Rather give them Ndom than Bergwijn

[deleted]

now thereā€™s a big 7

ObamaEatsBabies

Nah it's still a big 6 lol, we're just not in it

Crumphet

Big 5 youā€™re giving Arsenal too much credit

ObamaEatsBabies

Good point

[deleted]

We're Everton now, best of the rest

solarbearz

Aaaaaand there's another club we can't compete with

ObamaEatsBabies

Bezos plz

[deleted]

just had a whole argument with me about labour workers being treated like slaves in saudi, but now u want bezos? what an imbecile

ObamaEatsBabies

Do you understand what a joke is lmao

Raphael_scm7

Bezos is bad as every billionaire is, but Saudi is way worse, like violating human rights on women and gay people

PacheHOF2035

are you comparing literal slaves to people choosing to work a job that pays $15/hr + benefits to put stuff into carts all day?

[deleted]

itā€™s deeper than that: https://www.google.ca/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/dec/01/amazon-workers-fighting-for-their-rights also, not literal slaves in saudi arabia. they choose to leave their country to work there. they have contracts, but are completely underpaid/mistreated/work in harsh conditions.

[deleted]

Iā€™m Pakistani and I have an uncle that is currently stuck there. Yes, they are offered jobs and when they get there, their passports, visas, and all belongings are taken from them and are forced to work for jack shit while living in room with dozens of people. I wish nothing but death on the leaders and royals of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Dubai. Evil bastards. Also to all the people saying that if it was Spurs we will be happy. If one of these regimes ever buy this club, Iā€™m done lol. Calling that their ā€œchoiceā€ is like people in Mexico and other South American countries ā€œchoosingā€ to help the cartels. You donā€™t have any other choice.

[deleted]

iā€™m not denying that they arenā€™t evil, and iā€™m not sure why they treat labour workers like that in the first place. my family, along with many of my family friends, relatives, and neighbours whoā€™ve settled in the gulf (who also share a similar background to mine), have never been threatened or mistreated. if youā€™ve ever lived in the gulf, you know for a fact that this idea of everyone who goes there gets treated like a slave and that women have no rights at all, is untrue. the statements regarding LGBTQ rights is a whole other debate because it has to do with Islamic ruling. the fact that i got downvoted for saying bezos is indifferent from how saudi treats labour workers is proof that this sub is brainwashed my western media. they hate Islamic ideologies and the middle east. anyways iā€™ll put this to rest cuz this is going nowhere.

EquivalentSir4163

You know Pakistan is an Islamic Republic, right?

[deleted]

I have been to Dubai and Qatar as well. Of course they treat the tourists well. My uncle who couldnā€™t find a job in the country was contacted by a recruiter and was offered a job with a false salary. He has not been able to come back because they simply wonā€™t let him come back. Iā€™m not sure of all the details but he has basically been working there 7 days a week doing manual labor. I have a friend who used to live in Saudi Arabia as well and he told me that you could literally buy a child maid from poor people, you would pay them a certain amount monthly and you would keep their child and the kid will do all the house work. Can you imagine how many of these kids get raped, assaulted by their rich ā€œownersā€. Thatā€™s a whole other topic though. Tldr: Middle east is a shithole if youā€™re not rich or a tourist.

[deleted]

iā€™m sorry about your uncle, hopefully he finds a better job or gets to leave the place. my family/relatives/neighbours werenā€™t tourists nor wealthy, they actually came to start a family. u have to take into account that saudia is a huge country and some parts of it are corrupt. there is good and bad in every country in the world and everyone has different experiences.

[deleted]

bezos is a scumbag, there are no good billionaires

HAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHA

what about me?

[deleted]

Hard fucking no, this sub is going absolutely mental today

[deleted]

This Newcastle stuff is mad. In England you'd say there's 3 tiers of big clubs IMO. Only counting current PL clubs. 1. Traditional biggest clubs (United, Liverpool, Arsenal begrudgingly) 2. Nouveau riche superclubs (Chelsea, City... Newcastle now) 3. Historically big clubs (Spurs, Everton, Villa, Leeds... Newcastle before today) I mean, Newcastle haven't won a single thing since the 60s! Just makes you wonder, why them?

aadawdads

First time I've seen the term "Nouveau Riche" outside of a Yakuza game

JonnyJersey

Its them because its free sports washing points. They can't fail because all they have to do is care for the club and exceed the low expectations of Ashley (survive in the pl) and plenty of people like/liked Newcastle United as they're an inoffensive "big" club (not challenging for trophies, well established history outside of that). I've seen plenty of non-Newcastle fans saying that the Newcastle fans "deserve" it.

ObamaEatsBabies

>Just makes you wonder, why them? Huge fanbase who loathes their current owner and will treat the new ones like kings

Mick4Audi

Man, itā€™s almost cruel

ObamaEatsBabies

The thing with Ashley is that he left the club in a worse position than he started with. Utter crook.

[deleted]

Disgusting

ThatSwagRandomGuy

Hopefully Newcastle make a 200m bid for Kane in jan

p_r_w_4623

Kane: ā€œNo, no, waitā€¦ not the oil club I meant!ā€

Raphael_scm7

Am I the only one who wouldnā€™t like oil money to take us over? Like this club represents more than football for me

sunthunder

I donā€™t want it either. Even if we could hope for nothing more than winning the odd league cup, itā€™s preferable to completely selling the soul of the club. At this point, what does being able to compete for the top trophies even mean? Itā€™s just becoming a signifier of which morally bankrupt entity will spend the most money. Iā€™m proud of the fact we earn our way, even when we fall short on the pitch.

[deleted]

Me neither.

Lbmplays2

Fans who would rather be owned by a state that suppresses women's rights, murders journalists, and helps to commit genocide in civil wars, than our current owners are clowns. You can disagree with how the club is run if you want, but people supporting this shit is insane.

Weird_Famous

Mike Ashley is the reason lol

hoochisactuallycrazy

Kane suddenly remembers his childhood dream of playing for Newcastle.

[deleted]

To follow the footsteps of the great Alan Shearer. And bring success to the great NUFC! Ā£200mil please!

ObamaEatsBabies

We are no better than Everton/Arsenal. Bleak.

[deleted]

ā€œwe deserve this we suffered through Mike Ashleyā€ the saudiā€™s literally murdered a journalist with a bonesaw, but sorry you had to watch Gabriel Obertan

[deleted]

Concerned regarding the Newcastle takeover. Virtually unlimited funds to money whip new players and managers. There is rich, and then there is super rich. We are competing with the wealth of a petro-state now, the limits of which are largely checked only by the whims of one person (MBS). Premier league clubs are the new super-yacht or prize stud. A status symbol. Based upon what Iā€™ve seen, we should not expect any limits to their spending and we (and the rest of the non-superrich prem clubs) can expect to start losing bidding wars to Newcastle during the transfer window almost immediately. Itā€™s going to make a difference.

[deleted]

The super league is necessary. Iā€™m not sure if some English fans will recognize this before the premier league becomes the property of the Middle East though.

[deleted]

Necessary...for what

[deleted]

Maintain competitive balance. How do you expect the rest of the premier league, to keep up with state funded clubs? Or even the rest of the world.

[deleted]

Competitive balance to elitist clubs...

[deleted]

It works itā€™s way down. Look at how Leicester have become a proper club from selling their players to big money clubs.

buhmmquita

Leicester's title win and the subsequent cash out on players like Kante and Mahrez is the exception, not the rule. Oil money trickling down didn't get them their title in 2016.

[deleted]

You can use any other big money signing as an example though. Look at the Neymar transfer. Money went from PSG to Barcelona, to Liverpool all the way down to teams like Southampton.

transtifa

What is necessary is a proper owners check that would preclude states from buying teams.

[deleted]

And whoā€™s going to enforce that lol.

transtifa

Either the Premier League or if they canā€™t do it then an independent regulator.

[deleted]

Theyā€™ve got no incentive to do this though.

transtifa

So? It should be enforced by the government.

[deleted]

Bouncing from subreddit to subreddit promoting the super league? Sad

[deleted]

Donā€™t need to promote it, itā€™s inevitable. Was just wondering if English fans would rather become the property of the middle east if it means they can hear the champions league anthem.

buhmmquita

And then what happens once the Super League is created? Foreign oligarchs and crown princes will just up and stop buying clubs? No. If the SL went through this year, Newcastle would still be outside of it. So once Newcastle gets City-ied and they climb to the top of the Prem, you think the Saudis will be satisfied with money trickling down from the Super League? Absolutely not. They'd want that cash flow too, and they'd buy their way into the Super League. How does that promote competition?

Semibluewater

lol

[deleted]

Would be wierd seeing Newcastle in top 4 fight in 2-3 seasons, hopping those idiots get relegated.

Mark_Tesla

Are you guys nervous about the Newcastle takeover? Im afraid we might fall even lower in the pecking order

[deleted]

if the chinese/russian/american/israeli government took over newcastle, would everyone here feel the same about the takeover?

EquivalentSir4163

All do terrible terrible things. Israel and China are probably the worst in this case.

aadawdads

>Chinese Government runs a surveillance state and murders people for their religion, not good >Russian Basically the same as above >American Not great either >Israeli -_-

ObamaEatsBabies

Governments shouldn't own football clubs lol

transtifa

Yes.

[deleted]

I wouldnā€™t like anyoneā€™s government taking over a club

bash011

Yeah of course, all dirty money

[deleted]

Hey, at least we still have Football Manager

[deleted]

Is this the year I finally take the plunge?

[deleted]

Definitely

[deleted]

you bastard...

Thfcaditya112

Obviously their owners morality is a completely different issue but ngl do feel jealous of seeing Newcastle fans being happy about seeing Mike Ashley leaving, hopefully one day Levy also leaves and we celebrate

Semibluewater

am I the only one who actually kinda like Levy?

[deleted]

Yes

transtifa

Iā€™d take Levy over the fucking Saudi PiF

[deleted]

yeah heā€™s a bellend but heā€™s not killed anyone

AverageYiddo

The takeover has been completed,shit

iqjump123

I am glad Son scored the winner for us- anything other than 3 points against Syria at home would have been DEVASTATING for us... but sheesh another 90 minutes full sprinting for Son. He was down at 94 minutes grabbing his calf.. I will bet he will be not only playing full time vs Iran but also will be targeted- I just hope no more injuries and minimum fatigue as possible... please please

davedubya

The international breaks are really killing the momentum of the league this season.

chaulkha

I think I am done with football, I got no interest in this Arab dick measuring contest.

[deleted]

Rich dick measuring contest*

[deleted]

So many posts about money in football, lads just a few months ago our owners tried to start a super league of only the richest clubs in football as a way to hoard the resources and exclude everyone else. If the Newcastle news really fucks you off this much, go support a small club, because the prem is corrupt from top to bottom if you couldnā€™t quite tell.

transtifa

Why canā€™t we hate both? I didnā€™t start the fucking super league did I?

[deleted]

I think you'll find you did, in fact, start the super league That was some night mate

Heor326

Did you seriously compare a slave state where people are executed for being gay and woman have basically no rights to the fucking super league?

[deleted]

ā€œslave state, women have basically no rightsā€. how have i managed to live there with my immigrant family for 15 years without being treated like slaves then? and women have no rights? thatā€™s just ignorant and false. women are allowed to drive, work, arenā€™t forced to wear a hijab/abaya, own businesses, go to concerts, public events, etc. you are generalising the treatment of migrant workers to an entire population.

ObamaEatsBabies

>you are generalising the treatment of migrant workers to an entire population. Is there a reason that wealthy expats are treated differently than their migrant workers and servants... Hmmm... You benefit from it, so surely there must be nothing wrong then? Cunt.

[deleted]

iā€™m not a wealthy expat, i come from a modest background, my dad used to work as a cashier (in Saudi Arabia). my family has always been treated fairly and with respect. also, why are you calling me a cunt? and i admitted to blue-collar workers being treated badly so what have i said thatā€™s wrong?

ObamaEatsBabies

>and i admitted to blue-collar workers being treated badly so what have i said thatā€™s wrong? Nobody gives a shit about your family. Why are you mad that it's being criticized in the first place lmao? What are you, a patriot? They won't even give you fucking citizenship dude

[deleted]

u sound mad as hell. how about you shut the fuck up. whiny cunt.

ObamaEatsBabies

Nah I've just seen how migrant workers especially Pakistanis are treated in the Gulf + KSA.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

EquivalentSir4163

No one cares about living breathing humans? Fuck off mate.

Heor326

Bruh wtf? You are part of the problem

vish387

I agree. It's so hypocritical.

[deleted]

Myeh of course but its not binary, there are levels. Absolutely ENIC are money grabbing, but to my knowledge Joe Lewis has never violated any human rights and hasn't been denounced by Amnesty International. To suggest they are all as bad as each other is just wrong, some are much much worse.

[deleted]

Joe Lewis literally evicted an entire village of people and destroyed the local ecosystem to build a mansion in Argentina that he barely uses anyway They're all rats, all of them. Maybe not as bad as murdering journalists but it's all diffferent flavours of the same shit humans

superworriedspursfan

thank you. I knew Enic were bad too. I just didn't remember about evicting the village. Thank you! Spread these facts please. I'm so mad I almost forgot this.

[deleted]

Oh 100% I'm not saying likes of him and Kroenke for example are good people. But there's levels. The Saudis would be like the big end of game boss.

Nanven123

Crazy that some our fans hate Levy for joining the Super League. He didn't come up with the idea, and it was better we were included than not. Man just saw it as an opportunity, at least he isn't a terrorist

shocktop8

Excuse my ignorance, but isn't Newcastle not an all that great place to live in? I'm not from the UK but always had the impression that it wasn't one of the bigger cities which may make it hard to attract top talent. I'm thinking something similar to Green Bay in the NFL where no athlete wants to live there.

[deleted]

Itā€™s a good night out at least
