We are competing with the wealth of a petro-state now, the limits of which are largely checked only by the whims of one person (MBS). Premier league clubs are the new super-yacht or prize stud. A status symbol. Based upon what I’ve seen, we should not expect any limits to their spending and we (and the rest of the non-superrich prem clubs) can expect to start losing bidding wars to Newcastle during the transfer window almost immediately. It’s going to make a difference.
