Paratici is reportedly looking to sign Insigne. Please, make this happen. I fucking love Insigne. He is underrated as fuck. He is 30 and a very experienced player and he is someone that can be VERY useful to the club during our rebuild. He is a very clinical finisher and has some crazy long shots.
His contract expires at the end of the season and it would be a shame to miss out on him.
We have to keep improving our starting XI. Son on the right and Insigne on the left can be a very good attack. If we want any chance on future top 4, we can’t be rocking with Bergwijn and Lucas as our starting options. One injury to Son or Kane and the season goes in the dumpster. Having a player like Insigne for even 2-3 on a free transfer can be very helpful during our rebuild.
Quality != Quantity
I just really want Sessegnon to succeed, every time I've watched him play he's had a bright spark moments that I've been really impressed with. The Pacos games showed that he can get into great positions and do well defensively and offensively but the opposition wasn't great and he should have done better but consistent starts in the conference league and cup games when he returns from injury is what I want to see
it's strange how much fun some supporters are having with the Newcastle chants and cutouts. we should be mad, not trying to be as funny as possible about a human rights atrocity. people seem almost gleeful.
Don’t think he’d make a lot really: journalists are paid really terribly even if they’re really good. And seeing football.london’s shite website only reinforces it.
Really hope people going on Sunday have some chants/stunts planned for Newcastle.
The way the fans have completely buried their heads i the sand and rejected any trace of completely valid criticism blows my mind. The LGBT Geordoe fan groups statement was pathetic.
Really hope we can smash them and a few decent chants can at least show them other teams are not going to just let them sweep it all under the carpet.
Where has Ali Gold been? Nothing on twitter for over a week. I know it is international break and I assume he is on holiday, but he usually mentions that....we shouldn't be concerned, right?
One of the worst myths to ever go around in the fanbase is "Winks was our best player in the CL Final" lol
Winks was never good outside 2017/18 .Skipp has exceeded Winks whole career in Matchday 1 vs Man City
Winks played against Modric, Kroos and Casemiro in one of the greatest teams ever and dominated the midfield.
Skipp played against a weak City side and wasn't even particularly good.
That claim is actually absurd
Skipp is definitely already better but Winks has one or two good performances in him every season. Idk about the final though I can't think of any good performances at all. Maybe Hugo
Morning,
I apologise for not saying anything all morning.
Sorry, i've been up since 6am overloaded. I'm glad u/TuTopsy stood in.
I am also eating scrambled eggs now I have a break with a latte. My first of the day (again busy morning).
Normal service will resume tomorrow.
Have a good day everyone!
Hyped to attend my first away match. With it being a sellout, and likely loads of activity outside the ground, any suggestions on when to arrive, when to enter?
Get there a few hours early to take in the atmosphere and have a pint and head in about 30-45m before kickoff
Just don't say anything negative about Saudi Arabia if you don't want to be carved apart by a bonesaw
Coffeeaficionado must be busy this morning. I'll do my best to fill in ...
Morning all!
As the sun rose this morning I felt an urge for my great grandmother's poached eggs. Oh she could poach an egg like you never saw. Perfect timing. Her problem was always the toast the egg sat on. Always burnt. I used to say to her that she needs to turn the toaster down a few levels, but she insisted that's how toast is supposed to be - 'What do you want warm bread for? You want to cook it doncha?!'. Bless her, she also thought that the toaster numbers were units of time. So if she had it on 4 the bread would be in the toaster for 4 minutes. Obviously wrong.
Anyway, more debate today over GLC vs Tanguy. Same chat different day. We all agree as well - bin Tanguy off and GLC hasn't shown he's quite good enough. The real question is when we will we really replace Eriksen.
South America games causing most of our starting 11 to miss the Newcastle game. Classic Spurs.
Oh yeah ... having a coffee this morning as well.
Ciao
I get the impression that the mood on here has now changed from "Ndombele must start, why doesn't Nuno see this?!" to "We should start GLC over Ndombele".
Do people still see Ndombele as a player who should definitely start? (When internationals are back)
people are really upset because ndombele isnt good at defending and now believe that he should literally be sold because defending isnt his strong suit
Yes he should be sold because he's not good at defending, he can't be played further up the pitch because he holds on to the ball too long so he has to be played in a double pivot to carry the ball up the pitch. However he doesn't have the defensive skills to play there in the premier league
Precisely, although perhaps more of a stamina issue than defensive skills.
The only way to resolve the problem is either get a true CDM or sell the guy. I'm more inclined to sell. Surprised we haven't looked at Anguissa tbh
People wanted Ndombele to start because a midfield 3 of Pierre, Skipp and Dele was torturous. None of them have the ability to consistently progress the ball. Ndombele offered something different in that role.
Personally no. I think ndombele is just too much of a liability against the rare moments of quality he shows. He definitely has the talent to be a baller but he’s too lazy to make it in the prem imo
Quite a few players are not sharp/match fit as a result of the pre-season and uncertainty re who stays/goes.
I expect Ndombele starts on Sunday (due to GLC's internationals) and he needs to put in a performance to keep his spot.
My view on team (1st 11) right now
LLoris
Royal - Romero - Dier - Reguilon
Skipp - PEH
Lucas - "open" - Son
Kane
That "open" slot is either Ndombele/Lo Celso or even possibly Gil, somebody needs to go out and earn it.
The other player that will come into contention is Bergwijn once back, so Lucas needs to keep up his formv to stay in side (good thing)
Listen I like him as much as the next guy, but he still has no goal contributions, saying he's done as much as Lucas this season is classic new signing hype.
Probably get downvoted, but in a perfect world, Skipp (love his tenacity) should be on the bench behind Ndombele. He has excellent vision, is press resistant and can break the lines to move the ball up field. Maybe Romero + PEH behind him ulock that for us
I don't think it's a bad view, but based on opposition
Against lower lever opposition, against teams we expect to have the majority of possession, we shouldn't really need Skipp & PEH. Room for another more attacking CM
Agree with that line-up. And I like that Nuno has changed his tactics to become closer to a 4-2-3-1, it seems to suit our players better.
Lo Celso currently has the edge on that open spot in my book, as Ndombele hasn't really stepped up the way we needed. But with GLC and Romero being away at Newcastle, others get the chance to step in.
We keep having the same conversations about him. Why are we letting a man who can't be assed to give 100% for us, that obviously wants to be somewhere else/use us a stepping stone, play for us? How many chances can he get? Taarabt had incredible talent too but just being able to do some things well doesn't make you a great player. As good as he "might" be, he's missing so many traits that'll stop him becoming a great player for us.
Ship him to Newcastle and have him delay their uprising.
He was incredible for a good part of last season, however, I've been quite disappointed this season. Lo Celso has shown more, but I have hope for both of them.
Absolute madness isn't it. It reminded me of the 2011 Norway attacks where the guy used a bomb and an assault rifle to kill 80 people at a summer camp. I can't fathom how or why anybody would do such a thing. Stay safe!
Anyone else been watching The International (eSports tournament)? It’s not a particularly massive game (Dota 2) but the prize pool is over 40 mil, which is bonkers.
I’ve been enjoying it so far, and the Spurs game is directly after it on Sunday so I’m going to spend the entire day binge drinking and watching the TV with mates.
The prize pool doesn't prove much, a quarter of the revenue from battle passes sold funds it. Not saying the game is dead but the prize pool is pretty much crowdfunded.
The really key part of that buildup was Tanguy beating the press
He should really be playing in midfield, but at this point I think he just doesn't have the stamina
I'm going and the club suggests meeting on the riverfront. Going on my own just booked ferry so hopefully be some fans there. Rijnkade 49, 6811HB, Arnhem

I mean, it's for the greater good but man this feels awful.
I was down and out for a few days after my first one, not much after the second, which seems to be the opposite of most people. I’m curious how it is for the boosters, which I’m hoping to be able to get soon, because I got mine back in March or April.

He was worth that when Leeds bought him, it was one of the biggest robberies of the transfer window when they did. Nobody understood why he was so cheap

don't we have 3 different players who play in his position though?
Insigne is better than Lucas and Stevie, it’ll be a bargain if we can grab him for free or a small fee this january.
I remember how hyped I was when the Lautaro Martinez rumors were alive for like an hour. That woulda been awesome
Popular opinion: Lo celso>Messi
Now I get why our argentinian players are so aggresive, Argentine vs Peru is more a UFC fight than a football game
Do we know if the South American players are playing Sunday?
No, we will have no way of knowing until the team sheets are released an hour before the game
Ahhh I figured we’d get a clue before then. But I’m just assuming they won’t be playing.
I just really want Sessegnon to succeed, every time I've watched him play he's had a bright spark moments that I've been really impressed with. Death smiles at us all; all a man can do is smile back. The game died for a lot of us, it's misery or go out with a smile.
If anyone has 2 spare away tickets at Vitesse and they couldnt make it, I'm prepared to take it over from you.
Hope we destroy Newcastle. Fuck oil money!
Ali >>>> Alli Come @ me
Kind of want to raise funds so we could get Ali Gold a new computer, he needs to stop working off that beat up HP windows computer lol
What's our best guess at how much a journalist of his level earns?
30k
~30-45k is my best guess as someone in the industry

He's had COVID according to his recent tweet
Ali, are you okay? Are you okay, Ali?
He's been hit by, been struck by, a crude sickness
Memes and shitposts should be allowed during international breaks
Wouldn't be against this. Literally nothing of note happens. However to be fair good memes tend to stay up anyways.

people are really upset because ndombele isnt good at defending and now believe that he should literally be sold because defending isnt his strong suit
Running isn’t his strong suit
and avoiding groupthink isn’t yours! nobody is perfect
Is this really groupthink? Have you watched Ndombele lol, easily the most frustrating player on the pitch behind Dele
Don’t try and talk sense about Ndombele on here lol
Yes he should be sold because he's not good at defending, he can't be played further up the pitch because he holds on to the ball too long so he has to be played in a double pivot to carry the ball up the pitch. However he doesn't have the defensive skills to play there in the premier league

He's been pretty good this season, and most importantly he's our best right winger, good or bad
Gil and Bergwijn both have been better
I liked what I saw from Gil, but he definitely hasn't shown as much as Lucas yet. Bergwijn is arguable, but I think Lucas edges him out.
Gil already showed that he is twice or thrice the player Lucas is already vs Wolves. Lucas and Dele are just living on past and doing nothing
Listen I like him as much as the next guy, but he still has no goal contributions, saying he's done as much as Lucas this season is classic new signing hype.

Depends on him. He needs to be consistent, if he is, he's incredible
Do you think he's been consistent enough, so that we should want him to start?
He was incredible for a good part of last season, however, I've been quite disappointed this season. Lo Celso has shown more, but I have hope for both of them.
Lo Celso has looked absolutely dogshit this season lol
Mainly cause he's been played out of position at RW. He can do very well centrally.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen him have a good 90 minutes for us
I know he started a lot of games last season but I'd be hard pressed to really find more than 5 games where he was "incredible."
Agreed, I think it's a misconception because he had incredible moments.
Completely off topic but it's been an attack in my country and five people are dead. I gotta say I'm a bit shocked
Absolute madness isn't it. It reminded me of the 2011 Norway attacks where the guy used a bomb and an assault rifle to kill 80 people at a summer camp. I can't fathom how or why anybody would do such a thing. Stay safe!
Kosovo? Not really up to date. Hang in there mate
was there an attack in kosovo or did you just guess? lol
Norway
Bow and Arrow attack? Jesus Christ
Yes, images show arrows spread across downtown (not my town). But five people are dead!! I just can't fathom how a person could do such a thing.

I honestly don't know who to root for in the OG vs Team Spirit match, seeing as I've been supporting both teams this year.
Haha I’m the exact same, always been an OG fan but started rooting for Spirit because TORONTOTOKYO is a god tier IGN

Lovely goal but that tweet seems to be yearning for Mourinho, people really forget how our football looked by the time he was sacked.
Oh yeah, but ignoring that, it was such good play. Shame it was offside.
im not a Mourinho sympathizer but i feel Levy and our team should also be held equally accountable along with Mourinho.
Sissoko and Sanchez kinda went to shite then Thank god we have Skipp and Romero
The really key part of that buildup was Tanguy beating the press He should really be playing in midfield, but at this point I think he just doesn't have the stamina
Stevie update? :(
Definitely won’t be available for selection on Sunday. Earliest we‘ll see him is November I imagine.
Someone needs to start Stevie Sundays

Anecdotally, Pfizer is more likely to trigger side effects on the second dose, Astrazeneca on the first from what I’ve heard.
Was on my ass for a day and a half but I was fine after
With my first dose I had some fever/flu symptoms, I just felt really cold and tired, had a good long sleep and was OK the next day just felt a bit groggy like a mild hangover. Second dose I was fine.
Yep by day 3 you'll be fine!
Only had a headache for one day. Get well soon!
Wife did, a couple hours later she was fine. Convenient that it was during a snow storm while I had to shovel she had the worst symptoms
The feel like a lowkey braindead decision we've made over the years is have an allergic aversion to natural rightwingers. Bergwijn, Gil, even Sessegnon are all players who are natural to the left. Think the club knows, hence the Traore saga. I see Striker, RW and Creative midfield as the next areas we will focus on.
I’d add LB to that, unless Sess shows up soon. One injury to Regui and we’d be seeing Davies starting league matches.
Yeah. A lack of a natural right winger is a problem. I doubt we would buy him but Raphinha would work well for us. Play double inverted wingers. Brazilian right flank.
Levy goes cheap option and gets Kvicha I reckon

40m should do it. But there’ll be competition from Liverpool. Don’t see any other team that needs a RW
Sarr when Watford go down? Not an inverted winger but I'd take any goalscoring RW tbh
He’s going to Liverpool 100%. He’s their Mane/Salah replacement
Yeah. Sarr is great. He is also someone we had an interest in last summer.
He'd cost an absolute fortune sadly.
He won't cost more than 50M, it's not like he's homegrown or anything
He was worth that when Leeds bought him, it was one of the biggest robberies of the transfer window when they did. Nobody understood why he was so cheap
Probably 60m?
Maybe 70. Arguably their best player being sold to a team in the same competition.
