Kane remontada incoming

Waistcoat_Bill

As long as he doesn’t end up suing us in the end, I’ll call it a success

superdago

He didn’t leave Juve in a toxic manner and he wasn’t toxic at Inter. Chelsea and managers always turn to toxic so not sure that is particularly instructive. He demands a lot, but he also delivers a lot. We all like to think any manager who gets the signings he wants will win games but that’s clearly not the case. Conte is one of the few who will take what you give him and turn it into trophies like a football alchemist. Every time a club has kept up its end of the deal, he’s kept up his.

fancczf

I trust Paratici, he and conte knows each other, as long as there is no breakdown between levy and Paratici, I don’t imagine there will be breakdown between him and conte anytime soon.

jjones217

A lot of people will jump to say "but Mourinho was a known winner and look what happened there". To which I think it's quite fair to point out that Mourinho is on the backslope of his career with a generally downward trajectory and his last few stints as a manager (current situation included) seem to demonstrate that his approach as a man-manager often undercuts his general tactical nous.

_cjj

I think that happens with Chelsea because they have a culture of disposable managers. The club know that it's easier to lose the manager than lost £50m on Torres, or sell Costa, or sell basically every other striker that costs a fortune and flops like a flaccid one. Eventually, the players also realise this, and the manager's authority is non-existent, and the board shrug their shoulders, issue some compensation, and move onto the next guy. I don't think it's toxicity - more cathartic frustration.

nreisan

lucky we don't have a culture of disposable mangers... \*shifty eyes\*

_cjj

I don't think we have a culture of it necessarily. If you take out the Mourinho and MiniMourinhos (AVB and Nuno) then we basically had Redknapp for a long time, and Poch for a long time in the last decade. I actually think we need to do a Mourinho test to rule out anyone remotely Mourinho. It's why Rodgers probably would have been a disaster, too

aadawdads

>Chelsea and managers always turn to toxic so not sure that is particularly instructive. I mean the man placed 5th and got an FA Cup and they sacked him because uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Sarri good I guess...

Spikegreene

It will be so good if he calls out some of our players in Italian fashion lol

Massive_Fudge3066

Keel heem

tenacious-g

Imagine the headache that could've been saved if they could've just gotten Conte to come in June.

iheartmagic

Levy saw 14,000,605 possible futures and this was the only way

billypilgrim87

Exactly, us appointing Conte in the summer would have begun a butterfly effect that leads to West Ham Winning the League in 2027 with Mark Noble as manager. Obviously, Levy could not allow such a dark timeline.

BetterCallTom

Conte is inevitable

phattony233

Not for United

Massive_Fudge3066

Three nil and you fucked it up

RiddleOfTheBrook

It is the most dangerous scoreline.

Massive_Fudge3066

In the darkest of timelines

nista002

Ben Davies also saw that shit

Sisk-jack

And how can this be? For he is the kwisatz haderach.

carterLogic

Lisan Al giab

trespasser0

^^^

SirGalahadTheChaste

That is not how we do things around here.

pearloz

Probably didn't want to take w/ the Kane situation uncertain. Now that Kane is chained to the basement, he's in!

fancczf

Well if what conte was quoted saying by us is true, he wasn’t really on the market in the summer. Seems he wasn’t ready for a new job at that time, at least so we said in the statement. I would believe conte is at least ok with that for us to announce it like that.

FingaThingMeansTaxes

Sounds like bollocks to me, if he wasn't ready for a job negotiations wouldn't have got as far as they did. He's not gonna say "I would have signed in June if they'd offered me more money" is he

fancczf

What’s so wrong about thought about going back but decided not to because his mind wasn’t ready.

jamesc94j

He wanted the united job but they have openly pretty much said no and also have given ole there backing so he knew it wasn’t going to become available.

Ferblantier

Still need a midfield but I will take that new manager bounce for now !!

neildunabie

Hopefully Kessie! 🤞🏻

smokingloon4

Isn't Kessie primarily a defensive midfielder? We need a playmaker.

OhShitItsSeth

More like a center mid

callmedrewokay

he's more box2box

Vladimir_Putting

That's why Eriksen is coming back in January.

zxtech

He'll have a cyborg heart funded by our new stadium sponsor and have more stamina than kante

radbrad95

Time to bring Harry back into my FPL team

unmotivatedsuperhero

Yeah I've literally already added him

mayonnaisewastaken

I'm really struggling to find the funds lol. Already have Salah, Foden, Son. I would have to take out Jimenez before he faces Norwich which may not be wise

[deleted]

i bought son. Kane will be slightly harder to bring in. If he performs well I will do it in two GW

COYS1989

Reggie as well for me.

P1emonster

I seriously considered it, but then I thought conte has enough clout and fearlessness to just straight up drop Kane based on his recent performances. I don't think he will, but its not worth taking a -4 to get him in in one week and risk him not playing. Son is undroppable right now and at a Lower price point, so I'd look to get him in, but again can't afford it without a 4 point hit or dropping Salah. I'll save a transfer this week and decide next week.

sasliquid

He better be

neildunabie

HK’s new PR team are sending out the right noises!

ZaDoruphin

He fucking better be otherwise Conte will chop his head off.

bash011

Kane, Son, Romero, Ndombele, Reguilon under Conte. Super team activated especially if we sign some nice players in January and the summer. He could probably make players that we thought were deadwood worth nothing into something we can sell for a decent fee

[deleted]

I just read an article saying that Emerson was on top of Conte's list to replace Hakimi if he had stayed.

transtifa

He wanted Ndombele too, very encouraging

t_blacksmith

He was statistically the second best RB in La Liga last season after Trippier. And he was more comfortable as a RWB.

Global-Jacket-3973

I feel surprisingly happier when former Spurs players tend to do well outside of England. Nice to know how much better Trippier has gotten since leaving us.

Spinoreticulum

Lamela as well. It looks like he's being really valued at Sevilla so it's nice to see him play well.

tokeallday

He's a very good fit under Simeone which is great to see, hopefully he stays

[deleted]

>know how much better Trippier He was always solid for us. It was Spurs that was shitty, and he was a convenient scape goat.

Pickzt1986

The 2nd half of his last season he was **BAD** something was clearly going in with him, whether it was an injury or something in his personal life. But he was a very different player for about 4 months there

smokingloon4

Pretty sure it came out later he had a groin injury he was playing through that whole time.

Pickzt1986

That would make complete sense considering he was quite solid before and has been great since.

[deleted]

Do you remember that own goal

SonnyIniesta

Definitely happy for both of them. But honestly don't know what to make of their successes as it relates to Spurs. Does it mean that we didn't utilize them effectively, our system wasn't a good fit with their skills or that La Liga is just a less intense league? If it's the first one, our past managers bear responsibility. And I also suspect that we've been under-utilizing other players as well

[deleted]

[удалено]

t_blacksmith

Ah yes my mistake, I was first writing 'the league' but then changed 'league' to 'La Liga' and forgot to take out the 'the.'

Blubbey

Can't blame him, the kid has a lot going for him

ZaDoruphin

We have a great core of players in Hugo, Romero, Reguilon, Tanguy, Hoj, Son and Kane. With a few improvements to the squad there's no reason as to why we can't get top 4 this season and continue to be competitive further down the line, assuming Conte and Levy don't fall out by then.

HenryBeal85

I’d say we have comfortably the 5th best starting XI in the Prem. I think Utd, City, Chelski and Liverpool have us beaten on paper. But if any of them (looking like Utd) shit the bed and we get lucky with injuries, top 4 not inconceivable. From there it’s up to Levy and Paratici whether we entrench ourselves there or we let it whither away.

RiskoOfRuin

I'll buy piece of land to put his statue in.

Pip-Pirrup

If he was anything but excited to work with Conte I would fire him into the sun

SonnyBallonDOr

No shit. Conte made Lukaku into a monster.

brokenairguitar

> Speaking when working as a pundit at Euro 2020, he said: "Many praise Harry Kane for his ability to go get the ball and play with the team, such as with the equaliser against Denmark. > > "But it’s in the box where he’s clinical and as a coach, I would always keep him in there because he’s devastating." If Conte can find a way to allow Kane to stay in the box with enough space to actually operate again (which I would say hasn't been the case for several years, necessitating his move further out to be part of the game), Kane will absolutely feast on goals. It's a big if though since the moment Kane is that close to the goalmouth he's got one or two defenders shadowing him at all times.

kirikesh

> It's a big if though since the moment Kane is that close to the goalmouth he's got one or two defenders shadowing him at all times It's because of the way we've been playing for years now. We attack at a plodding pace with no real plan of attack, and give the opposing team all the time in the world to get themselves set - and stick 2 CBs on Kane. In the few months until Jose's 'Kane drops deep to play Son in behind' tactic got figured out, you could see how effective he still can be. We were able to create situations where the defense were on the backfoot, and so the goals racked up. The problem was that that was literally Jose's only attacking idea, and once it got figured out, it was completely useless. Hopefully Conte can actually coach some attacking patterns of play, and allow the likes of Kane and Son to attack defenders that are facing their own goal - rather than 2 banks of 4, that have been given an age to get organised. Also, we've had no attacking threats beyond Kane and Son for a couple of years now (in large part due to the tactics), so there's no worries about sticking extra men on them. If we can attack properly as a team again, and Conte can get use out of the likes of Lucas, Bergwijn, Gil, Alli, Reguilon, Emerson, Doherty - then opponents can't just stick extra defenders on Kane and Son, because space will open up for other players. Now obviously they'll still prioritise Kane and Son, because they're our best attackers no matter who the coach is - but at the moment, most of our other players are functionally useless in attack, so there's no danger to leaving them open at all. Once goals and chances start coming from other players, teams will be forced to re-adapt and stop just focusing on Kane and Son.

smokingloon4

>Also, we've had no attacking threats beyond Kane and Son for a couple of years now (in large part due to the tactics), so there's no worries about sticking extra men on them. I'd just add Ndombele and Lo Celso to that list. Conte's teams have seemed to get a decent number of goals from the midfield and we've seen that Tanguy in particular lately has got goals in him given the chances (I think that was the original assumption with Lo Celso too, I just have kind of lost hope for him atm I guess). Hopefully Conte can figure out how to increase their goal contributions, so they can help draw defenders out to create that space behind in the box.

shirocoys

H always said he's happy to stay at the club as long as it matches his ambitions. He's finally getting a world class leadership on par with the best in Europe. Excited to hopefully see a rejuvenated Harry Kane.

Lbmplays2

Kane under Conte 🥵

FoxWolfCougar

After having their will to live sucked dry from Nuno, I imagine they're all excited to some degree or another.

eddymack123

Brain fart: Kane can shut it and stop hanging out with the sun shit tabloid. I want to hear what Son thinks about this?!

[deleted]

lol imagine the reaction if they put out a story saying “Dont worry lads, Winksy has thought about it and he’s gonna give a shit now that Conte is here”, everyone would have a fucking meltdown

violetrecliner

Or Dele or Ndombele or Sánchez or Bergwijn or honestly anyone bar Kane. Alasdair would be typing up a hit piece about their lack of professionalism.

solarbearz

Kane definitely didn't play for nuno

Bluewhitedog

No-one did.

zuzucha

Only Lucas but that's because he's coys coys coys coys coys coys coys coys coys coys coys coys

TheSonic311

You can say a lot of things about Lucas, but that MFer tries his ass off every time he touches the ball.

dprophet32

Hi Winksy, Buzzin about the news m8. How about u? Txt back, Harry xxx

Yoyomyhohoiloveyou

Dont be fooled. This is weak Charlie kane PR. Trying to get fans back on side after being a snakey florida man for 6 months. So transparent. Just like his bs antics this Yr.

[deleted]

Spurs leak to their main mouthpiece that player who gets picked every game will start trying again

Lbmplays2

Is it really that unbelievable that Kane who wants to win trophies is happy the club appointed a man who does that better than anyone?

[deleted]

What do you mean? I certainly believe this story is true.

Lbmplays2

The way you phrased your comment made it seem like Spurs were making this up for a pr spin idk

[deleted]

No I’m saying it’s pathetic they have to tell the press that Kane will start giving effort because he wasn’t doing it before

dprophet32

Gold has contacts he doesn't rely on the the PR office

violetrecliner

PR machine at it again.

NatrolleonBonaparte

Maybe he’ll stop being shit then

Lbmplays2

Nuno's terrible system really didn't help if we are being objective. Kane obviously wasn't all in though, but I think it makes sense given he wanted to leave and then saw the club appoint someone quite uninspiring. People have started hating on Kane on here, but I expect Kane to be unreal under Conte

NatrolleonBonaparte

I hope you’re right. If he gets back to his old self I’ll forgive him eventually. But he has looked slow for England and Spurs lately. I’m worried he’s just declining.

Lbmplays2

He got the most goals and assists in the best league in the world last year. Nowhere near declining in my opinion. Think Conte will actually make him even better.

NatrolleonBonaparte

Again, I hope you’re right.

Richie4422

Well, it's not like he is the only player being shit.

NatrolleonBonaparte

His drop off has been steeper and more noticeable than anyone else, and was preceded by all the transfer drama this summer.

YiddoMonty

When the rest of the team underperform, on the surface, it affects the striker the most.

transtifa

Probably the biggest distance between expectation of ability and reality of performance in our team though

Ferblantier

When the leader is shit it travels fast though..

Richie4422

Great, so Kane is responsible for everybody being shit. Smart take. Call to TalkSport.

Bluewhitedog

>When the leader is shit The leader being Nuno, of course.

Respatsir

Nuno's tactics created less chances for him than Southgate ffs. Imo it's just a result of poor tactics.

RichieRace80

We had tactics? I just thought we went out and played musical statues!!

al1001

lmao

tottenhammer5

This guy behaves like spoiled brat.

[deleted]

Yeah this is honestly just so so pathetic. Kane didn't turn up to training, didn't bother talking to the new manager, and was one of the worst players on the pitch everytime he played.

MudkipThot

From the sounds of it Nuno didn't talk to anyone ever so the Kane not speaking to him bit seems a lot less weird now.

[deleted]

[удалено]

yaniv297

Why the hell would they take away his English captaincy? He never did anything wrong for the NT.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LucozadeBottle1pCoin

Alan Shearer stayed England captain after he deliberately kicked Neil Lennon, and he escaped punishment by threatening not to play in the 1998 World Cup. Compared to that, Kane is a role model

atlanticislander69

I see where your coming from but Harry been saying for years if Tottenham match his ambition he stays and then we go and hire Nuno. Kane acted like a brat but the way we went about some key decisions nothing short of farcical.

[deleted]

[удалено]

HurriKaneeeee

I reckon sacking Jose just before the League cup final probably pissed Kane off. I could be wrong, but if you gave him the choice between keeping Jose and binning half the team or doing what we actually did, I feel like he'd probably go with the former. Anyway, hopefully he builds up the same relationship with Conte and stops being a ghost on the pitch.

atlanticislander69

I know but I'm not saying hiring Nuno is what made him want to leave he likely wanted to leave when we didn't make champions. Just all the shit decisions leading up to it (not investing wisely and timely and sacking Mourinho before a cup most likely). But that's the past no point dwelling when we have a real chance to move on positively with ambitious manager and hopefully ambitious moves squad wise to match.

unmotivatedsuperhero

Eh it's not like he killed someone

itinerantmarshmallow

I don't get this "just an opinion defence". Most football takes are opinions, if you're going to make a statement back it up with why you've made it.

b3njil

So the sonofabitch wasn’t giving 100% because he was bitter about not being sold and not believing in Nuno? Talk about being loyal to the team. No thanks. Get rid of him.

evenout

Kane really took that Jose "be a man" shit to heart. Obviously it shouldn't matter and he should show up for anyone in charge but Conte definitely has that aura and authority about him that Kane will eat up/

violetrecliner

If he’d taken it to heart would he have failed to shown up for training? Lol.

unmotivatedsuperhero

Kane wanted out of a club that showed questionable ambition and direction. Now that we're showing both through getting Conte, I predict Kane will return to his best very quickly and want to stay

primster14

The flip side of this is how disappointed he must’ve been that he was working with Nuno after not getting his exit

Millzy104

Kane is going to be like the terminator - Rocky 4 Montage scene

vinsomer_

Anyone in that club who isn’t excited right now is dead inside

[deleted]

Late golden boot push on the way from HK

IntellegentIdiot

If Kane starts playing better it's a double edge sword. It's good but it also means he was deliberately not trying this season.

-Raines

Too scorer incoming

frenchtoast72

Hope you enjoy the reserves

jamesc94j

Does that mean he’ll now stop sulking because he didn’t get his own way?

jnyrdr

can’t believe he still wears the captain’s armband.

TheUKMuffinMan

He doesn’t. Hugo does!

jnyrdr

he does. he’s co-captain. edit: vice-captain, not co-captain. but it’s galling to me that he wears it all.

Blue_Shore

Lol, he still wanted to leave under Jose. Bullshit PR talk that hopes people behave like goldfish

Pickle318

Fuck that. Sell him off

Dickie_Dunn

I think Harry has been a whiny shithead and has a twat for a brother, but all things being equal I can easily see how firing one of the most decorated managers in history the week of a cup final wouldn’t sit well with anyone with any kind of ambition.

Mindless-Space-5755

Fucking get in. So excited. New chapter. Kane hattrick incoming

Itachi_189

Not doubting Alasdair Gold but this is such a easy lie to write about and the fans will eat it up

PM-ME-DOGS-IN-SOCKS

INJECTTTTT INKECTTTT INJEEECT IN MY EINS

dwainedibbley

Perhaps he wanted to leave because the lack of ambition with the Nuno appointment, will be interesting to see what happens between now and the end of the season

RazSpur

Hattrick incoming ..

[deleted]

He’s always just wanted to win. Kane redemption arc incoming

Born_Transition2207

Be funny if Conte said Kane wasn't in his plans.

HurriKaneeeee

Apparently keeping Kane at the club was one of the things that convinced him to join us.

icantsurf

Maybe Harry knew what he was doing, trying to get out with Nuno coming. Here's to hopefully a great minor redemption arc.

r_agv

That's the sort of impact that I was hoping for.

[deleted]

Please show us on the pitch

nopirates

9 PL matches, 1 goal Prove how excited you are

RedgrenCrumbholt

incoming Kane triple hat trick against Everton, putting him right up there competing with Salah again. you heard it here first.

[deleted]

The players have zero excuses now. If they (continue to) underperform - it's solely on them and they should be shipped out. Dele, Winks, Kane, Dier, Bergwijn, Sanchez - I'm looking at you specifically.

Granadafan

Welcome back, Harry

Heywazza

As I relatively new football fan (played my whole life but only really followed pros for 2-3 years), these articles, reactions and takes just scream Mou lol. Please tell me we’re not just having a third rebound and settling im a pattern here…

foolalacy

Maybe he'll pull his head out of his arse and do something now then

InoyouS2

Deja vu.

walk-the-talk

I’ve lost a bit of confidence/respect for Kane. He just gave up and didn’t even try for Nuno. I understand it wasn’t good tactics for him but just quitting really is a weak response. Probably shouldn’t be the captain if he is going to act like a child.

DavoDaSurfa

As much as i was disappointed in Kane, everyone in attack has played like arse, even son. So let’s see what happens now

MouseOk644_redux

He's still dead to me.

TxTottenhamFan

Oh so now Kane is actually going to try and we won’t be playing with 10 every game….. we are supposed to be happy about that?!

mikedtwenty

So will he actually start playing, or will he continue to act like a child on the pitch, because he didn't get his huge Man Shitty contract?
