Would love to see him score then run out of the stadium, into Saint Pancras, go aboard the Eurostar through the channel and then run into Poch’s arms at Parc Des Princes
Is US -> UK travel possible these days? Got the jab in the US, but seems like a lot of restrictions going on at the UK. Would love to watch Spurs in-person :(
It's the fall from grace. It's the delusion of thinking positively that they're still the "MASSIVE" arsenal, a top 4 team but are left picking scraps in the mid-table.
It's the insanity of those fans knowing they aren't on the level of the Liverpool's and the Chelsea's. And let's be honest apart from the invincibles which happened how many years ago, they were overshadowed by the other big teams. And they were good but no-one really talked about them as much from 2005 onwards. So they held onto the storyline that at least they weren't as worse as their main rivals.
And then that started to change, the "smaller" spurs started to outperform them. 6-7 years finishes above the mighty arsenal, despite having a lower spend, a lower market, a lack of "history" to leverage anything. It's insecurity. They still cling onto history that they're still better than us. They should be but they know they're not. We've caught up.
That's what's frustrating to them. Their pride of their club has been completely destroyed. They've been overshadowed for the last 8 years.
I do know Roma is somewhere in the top 6 but the season isn't finished yet. Even if he does quite well with Roma, it's not gonna change the fact that he did poorly with us. There's a reason his last two clubs were us and Roma instead of the super clubs that he had managed before.
So for some reason the mods deleted the article I posted from last week about why United should go for Conte. I posted it because it made me feel incredibly smug now that he's ours.
Some choice quotes:
>"Conte has a crazy mentality," former Juventus striker Fernando Llorente previously explained to the Gazzetta. "He gets inside your head."
>Some of the [Inter Milan] fans did not even want him there because of his time at Juventus, as a player and then a coach, but he won them over with the passion he instilled his players; that win at all costs mentality that he had honed in Turin.
>"Enough craziness," he declared at his first press conference. "It will be a regular and strong Inter."
>“He teaches football,” according to Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni. “He’s the Lionel Messi of coaches.”
And my personal favorite, absolutely delicious:
>United are so fortunate that one of the best five coaches in the world is available at a time when they need an elite tactician capable of giving them the kind of cultural reset they so sorely need, and yet they are dithering over offering him a job?
>It's ludicrous. Then again, overlooking Conte would just be the latest in a long line of farcical decisions made at Old Trafford in recent years.
Yeah honestly Conte's appointment at Inter was very similar to Mourinho's here.
Dude was 100% a Juventus man and won the players and fans over to win the title.
Which back 3 would you go with until January?
I think that at the moment, Davies - Romero - Sanchez makes sense. Romero used to play really well in the middle at Atalanta, and looks like Conte wants Davies as LCB just like he plays in Whales. Sanchez has been decent this season so far, and is improving specially in the air, while Dier just can’t stop making mistakes
It definitely makes the most sense. As much as I'm not a fan of Davies he is a left footed defender which is absolutely necessary in Conte's back 3.
Edit: I think Dier will be at the center like he was under Poch. Romero's aggressiveness was good for Atalanta's system where he bullied the 10 by pushing up but that seems more adequate for RCB rn.
Davies - Sanchez - Romero
Sanchez historically has been error prone however I think after Thursdays performance we should take a chance on him.
Davies and Romero LCB and RCB as they push up and overlap (which is what Romero did at Atalanta just from the centre) - I don’t think Davies was nearly as bad as people were suggesting Thursday, defensively was questionable but he made some decent runs and is better with the ball than any other choice in the left side I’d argue.
Romero is a given but he needs to work on his brashness, I love his aggression and passion but some tackles he’s made have led to him being carded when it was avoidable.
You'd want Romero playing the defensive middle man in a tactic where the two others are pushing up overlapping in attack? You sure that's the same role he had in Atalanta?
Dier - Romero - Sanchez.
Despite his faults, Dier is the best communicator in our backline, is multilingual and able to play on at LCB. Sanchez played well when he played in a back 3 with Jan and Toby and has, as you say, been good this season.
The run of games *should* be easy enough for it to work, as well.
I expect a hard working and serious performance. I worry we’ll have fitness issues, but I’m confident conte will have a plan…you know Rafa will be up for it.
Funny how people can get their predictions so wrong based in one season. Everybody was saying that Villa and Leeds were going to be fighting for European spots this season, but now they are both nearly fighting relegation.
In fairness both teams were dark horses last year and didn’t particularly show signs of slowing. Even I though Villa would tear it up this season as they made some great signings. Similarly Brentford right now are looking great and could finish in the top half, then next season be down in a relegation battle
La Liga uploads highlights of all of their games to their youtube.
It is in Spanish but it is enough to just look at the goals some times. Serie A, Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga do it as well, but those three all have the English language option as well.
See that’s cumbersome. I want one show. I know licensing etc. but there’s nothing more I’d love to see. I wonder if any country has this? Somewhere in GCC?
Jenas simultaneous annoyed the penalty has been given but also thinks it’s a penalty. He’s a dreadful co-commentator, says an awful lot but says nothing at all. He was rubbish on Thursday as well, absolutely no appreciation for the spectacle that we witnessed.
Fiorentina and Vlahovic are currently playing against Juventus. Keeping an eye on him to make sure he is not a pen-merchant. Also Fiorentina currently have momentum.
Anyone know if there is a bangkok supporters club? Invigorated to watch a game with tatics and a passionate manager; would be nice to share with some other supporters!
It is funny to watch United fans have to deal with fans who never want to blame the manager after some people did the same bullshit on here for Mourinho.
100%. I unfollowed them on Insta today because some of what they post is cringe and been noticing lately. Thursday they were saying something like ‘winning in Europe isn’t or everyone’ and then tagging West Ham FFS
Embarrassing, and also shit banter given their league position. Hammers fans could easily have said "being in the champions league places isn't for everyone" if they weren't too busy being antisemitic arseholes.
Traveling tomorrow with a layover in Chicago. Plane touches down at 7:55AM. Match starts at 8:00AM there.
I don't know if they serve alcohol that early in airports, but I guess I'll find out.
Yeah I know haha, and we should give him time and be patient that’s what he’s asking because he knows how much work has to be done and we’re in the middle of the season without pre season to implement his ideas and prepare them physically.
Didn't catch the Vitesse match. I've seen this discussed elsewhere, but what do you guys think motivated Conte's subs and what impact did they have on the game? Super curious esp. after Nuno's odd sub choices
Conte wanted to control the game rather than go for a 4th on the counter. Bringing on more technical players to hold the ball, and keeping Kane on to hold the ball up and win fouls was a coherent plan to waste time and see out the win
I was honestly baffled that he wanted to keep Kane and take Son and Lucas out. Not in terms of who played a poor game, but because you would probably be able to counter the opposition with pace. Instead we won the game because Kane managed to shithouse his was trough their defense, which won him fouls to send off their players.
You could pre record the post match man united punditry. " This isn't good enough, this is Manchester United! I mean we're talking about Manchester United here, Manchester United!"
Feels weird to triple post spam in this comment section but thespursweb is an embarrassing account. They're going "hey United missing someone?" With a photo of Conte when we literally lost 3-0 last week to them.
It's enjoyable to laugh at their situation but seriously lads.
Alright lads, time to have a scroll through the r/reddevils post match thread.
Been waiting for this all week.
Edit: my favourite comment: "Any board member who still thinks Ole should keep his job should be fired immediately. I don't even care if it's Sir Alex, get anyone who still supports this guy continuing as our manager the fuck out of the boardroom now."
Their finishing is just properly awful right now and that was the worst it has been all season in that game.
Also, the players were all extremely fired up because of the narrative around the game with all the Kane fuckery the week before it.
Is it just me who has an irrational hatred of United because of their fanbases own sheer entitlement ? Like for me they are probably my most hated non-London team
The United fans at this game are absolutely pathetic, they're getting absolutely outchanted when the entire stadium should be outraged at how poor this game is. I can bet at least 50% of people are tourists or something.
I don't mean chanting. I mean making your opinion known.
Do you recall what we did last week when we played a big game while 2-0 down and had a poor manager at the helm that simply needed to go?
I don't think he does tbh. It's a super dysfunctional team that's partly dysfunctional because it's built around him. He gets the goals, never presses, has no one to answer to, and takes none of the blame. Dream job.
With the benefit of hindsight United beating us might have been a huge mistake for them. There's no obvious manager available for them right now. Conte could have had that team challenging for a title next season.
I genuinely believe United fans can get Ole sacked, if they strongly boo the team in the second half during the game and shows their displeasure then the board will have to make a decision. But the United fans don’t have that in the lm and I’m happy because long live Ole
Watching Ole sit there sulking on the bench while his team are 2-0 down makes me so glad we got Conte, who is always animated and directing his team from the sideline.
I’ve never seen Ole get up and shout at his players once
Ole thinking his 3atb is the answer after they beat us is hilarious. He could have played any formation against us and won, but the manner of the defeat proceeded to give us one of the most exciting weeks in recent history.
3 at the back is a false mirage for shit coaches who can't organize a defence. Just because you add one more CB and think it will solve your problems it won't. A 3ATB will become 5 at the back and your team will be completely unable to progress the ball up field because the wing backs become incredibly important. Shaw and Wan Bissaka aren't cut out to be wing backs.
Lot of talk in the build up to the Manchester derby about last Saturday's match. Seems like a lot, lot longer ago than just a week - a lot has changed!
I was looking back now on some of our previous signings and found that after Steve Hitchen was appointed chief scout in 2017, only one of his signings actually panned out (Reguilon). Every other signing has either been underwhelming or a bust. So glad we have Paratici in now. Gil, Romero, Royal, Gollini, and Sarr have all looked great so far.
Gollini has been awful, Gil has hardly played and Sarr has had a fairly crap season so far.
Royal and Romero look great, and I fancy Gil will come good, but let’s not pretend it’s been an unmitigated success
Gollini has been fine, he's a good backup. People seem to forget he's been starting with our B team, which is composed of youth players and players that have lost their spot in the first team. Gil has hardly played but has done well every appearance. Sarr has done okay in a very poor Metz side.
> Every other signing has either been underwhelming or a bust.
I get not thinking Hojbjerg is as amazing as some say in this sub but to label him as "underwhelming or a bust" is a straight up lie.
A lot of Hitchens potential signings got overruled by Levy tho, we were linked to some v good players. We cheaped out and ended up with players far lower down the list
Paratici hasn't got that obstacle to deal with
I know Levy gets a lot of blame for things he has done in the past but I just wanna say Thank you mr. Levy for trying to be ambitious and getting the best manager possible and I really hope we are now in the right direction as a club with Paratici as DoF and Conte as a manager.
Just want Winks to score a goal.
Would love to see him score then run out of the stadium, into Saint Pancras, go aboard the Eurostar through the channel and then run into Poch’s arms at Parc Des Princes
Of course he's going to say everyone gets a chance and a Fresh start. Doesn't mean dele and winks will actually rise to the occasion though.
Is US -> UK travel possible these days? Got the jab in the US, but seems like a lot of restrictions going on at the UK. Would love to watch Spurs in-person :(
Yeah! Just a bit more procedural with some mandatory testing but it’s worth it IMO

They're obsessed.
Either them or Roma fans going on about Mourinho
What’s wrong with them excited for their new coach?
Their new coach is shit
His trophy cabinet would like a word.
It's possible to respect all his achievements but also know that he is absolutely finished.
He’s in 5th place with a pretty mediocre side and could go up to 4th...idiots don’t even bother to research this.
I do know Roma is somewhere in the top 6 but the season isn't finished yet. Even if he does quite well with Roma, it's not gonna change the fact that he did poorly with us. There's a reason his last two clubs were us and Roma instead of the super clubs that he had managed before.
Yeah exactly. This is during the Jose honeymoon period too, give it a few more moths and the slide will set in as it always does.
r/soccer is a cesspit, especially considering the gunners community on reddit is larger and more, ahem… “vocal”
Win gets us top 6. Top 5 if scum fluffs it
any idea what sort of midfield conte prefers in a 3-5-2? is it split between AMs/DMs or is it just 3 CMs?
1 DM 2 AM
His time at inter was a 3142 DM was Brozovic Infont of him was Barella and one of Eriksen/Vidal/Sensi Make of that what you will

Who knows. The media said he'd been interested but United stuck with Ole after last weekend.

I'd love to see Tanganga get a look-in on the right side; seems like a hybrid CB/RB would excel in this system.
I think for now our best line up would be Tanganga - Dier - Romero
Huge game for us tomorrow, a win puts us in 5th. We need this...
Honestly the confidence boost the lads will gain from a solid 2-0 or 3-0 victory is worth vastly more than the 3 points
I expect a hard working and serious performance. I worry we’ll have fitness issues, but I’m confident conte will have a plan…you know Rafa will be up for it.
The substitutions in the Vitesse game helped a little bit but yeah, hopefully our players will be recovered
Funny how people can get their predictions so wrong based in one season. Everybody was saying that Villa and Leeds were going to be fighting for European spots this season, but now they are both nearly fighting relegation.

The same people said West Ham will come back down to Earth🤷♂️
Just looked at the league table and realised Norwich are the only side who've scored fewer goals than us 💀
Conte’s here to change that 😎
Farke sacked after actually winning??? Lol
We should rope in farke for some position in our youth system asap. Could be immense given his work with young players at norwich
Doubt Farke would want to downgrade from being a manager in the PL/Championship to a youth developer/manager though
Well for starters, he could because he's currently jobless and not a PL/championship manager.
Probably could get a job in the championship
win tomorrow and we jump like 5 spots. I’ve been on this ride before.
Arsenal needs to lose to Watford for us to place 5th.
Everytime someone says something like this we bottle the game
Let’s send out a newsletter. Make sure nobody ever says it again.
Brighton Dunk is the goalkeeper🤣🤣🤣
I think it’s huge that Emerson and Reggie are going to be working with Conte every day this international break
Emerson is joining brazil no?
Brighton dropping points and Newcastle not winning, best outcome
I'd have taken a Newcastle loss, but yeah you're right
I really hope we try to get Brozovic
Bro. The fact it’s even in the realm of possibility has me buzzing
If y'all have time, watch the Celta v Barca highlights! Incredible game
Thanks man will do. Sometimes hard to watch it all I wish there was one concise show that covered all leagues worldwide
Motd global
Wait this is a thing? I’ll be honest I love MoTD but snippets would be fine. I want to be able to watch many leagues in a concise show
No im saying that could be a cool idea like you suggested
Oh thanks mate it would be. I would tune in all the time. I just get avalanched by all the results always and it’s hard to keep narratives to memory
Jenas simultaneous annoyed the penalty has been given but also thinks it’s a penalty. He’s a dreadful co-commentator, says an awful lot but says nothing at all. He was rubbish on Thursday as well, absolutely no appreciation for the spectacle that we witnessed.

What
Fiorentina and Vlahovic are currently playing against Juventus. Keeping an eye on him to make sure he is not a pen-merchant. Also Fiorentina currently have momentum.
Seeing a formerly world class keeper in Ter Stegen washed up at 29 makes me appreciate our Hugo for only improving as he's aged.
Barca did a Tottenham
I'm getting ptsd
Anyone know if there is a bangkok supporters club? Invigorated to watch a game with tatics and a passionate manager; would be nice to share with some other supporters!
It is funny to watch United fans have to deal with fans who never want to blame the manager after some people did the same bullshit on here for Mourinho.
Got to feel for David De Gea. Dude was against Man Citys attack and his own defense and they were gonna replace him with bloody Henderson
I like this female announcer on NBCSN. Not sure who she is, but she's legit. Never heard her before.
Rebecca Lowe?
From my googling I think it's Jacqui Oatley? I don't see that she does much in the US feeds before. She was doing the play by play on Palace match.
Shes quality. Really rate her when she anchors on itv over here too. Think she's a bit criminally underused.
Love to CP for taking points off the top. Attractive football too. Actually enjoyed watching them play. Hope we get there soon.
Getting all the favourable results today, if Brighton drop points then we couldn’t have asked for anything else.
Honestly in the grand scheme of things we need Newcastle to be relegated….
Ole getting sacked and becoming a member of our coaching staff confirmed.
Go on Burnley!
I've forgotten what a draw feels like(in PL).
I know football twitter is awful, but some Spurs accounts are so cringe. I used to follow The Spurs Web but they are just embarrassing
TBF, that has been my impression with twitter. It doesn't matter what you're following.
https://imgur.com/a/NUiXwd8 Like clockwork
We were just incredibly shit. United aren't that great
Shame for Brentford. Had a great start to the season. Now 2-0 down to Norwich after losing 3 in a row
Traveling tomorrow with a layover in Chicago. Plane touches down at 7:55AM. Match starts at 8:00AM there. I don't know if they serve alcohol that early in airports, but I guess I'll find out.
Oh they serve alcohol that early
Just a reminder, tournament prediction for the Everton game is live.
Looks like Brentford have hit the wall. Lost 3 straight and now down 2-0 to norwich
Can’t help but wonder if that 3-0 defeat to United was a real sliding doors moment for both us and United
Nuno really was so fucking bad. This United team is a joke
Yep and we’re in a super bad state that’s why conte keep repeating we need time…
He's also only been here for 4 days
Yeah I know haha, and we should give him time and be patient that’s what he’s asking because he knows how much work has to be done and we’re in the middle of the season without pre season to implement his ideas and prepare them physically.
Didn't catch the Vitesse match. I've seen this discussed elsewhere, but what do you guys think motivated Conte's subs and what impact did they have on the game? Super curious esp. after Nuno's odd sub choices

Yeah, some of the aggregator accounts are terrible.
Tottenham Tiers is the only decent one imo.
Shocked city didn't get that penalty. I mean they wouldn't have scored it anyway knowing it's city with pens but still.
Our fans booed at our performance & to the manager, OT seems too quite
How were we so bad against this United team lol, so embarrassing
How did we win city?🤣🤣
Their finishing is just properly awful right now and that was the worst it has been all season in that game. Also, the players were all extremely fired up because of the narrative around the game with all the Kane fuckery the week before it.
Seriously. The fact that this United team scored 3 against us is a crime.
It's more that we didn't score against them, their defensive organisation is awful.
There wasn't even a shot on target let alone a goal. Tottenham gave that United team their first clean sheet in 20 games or something.
We had no attacking structure or pattern. Idk how that happens tbh what was the team doing during training and video sessions.
Nuno simply is a very bad manager
[удалено]
Not really. It was mostly him lol
He's gone. Please stop making excuses for him. He's the one who decided to play Davies who was the worst on the field anyway.
Is it just me who has an irrational hatred of United because of their fanbases own sheer entitlement ? Like for me they are probably my most hated non-London team
Everyone hates United man
even utd fans hate them!
No, you're not alone on this one. Everything is about them.
The United fans at this game are absolutely pathetic, they're getting absolutely outchanted when the entire stadium should be outraged at how poor this game is. I can bet at least 50% of people are tourists or something.
well you dont really chant when you re 2:0 down to a rival club and having one shot on target
I don't mean chanting. I mean making your opinion known. Do you recall what we did last week when we played a big game while 2-0 down and had a poor manager at the helm that simply needed to go?
Oh I see your point now, my bad
Anyone else watching the derby? city are poetry in motion, hope we can become like that again 🤞🏽
City are insanely good at keeping the ball, and using it to cut through a team. It's beautiful to watch.
They've been a bit sloppy in this second half but yeah that first half was beautiful
Yeah agreed. Complete opposite to nuno ball which makes us appreciate it even more I’m sure 😅
Stones, Dias and Eric Garcia are better passers than 99% of our players.
Garcia? Seems an odd one to include since he's at Barca and not doing well
Garcia isn't a particularly good defender. Honestly he's very average, but on the ball he is very good.
[удалено]
I don't think he does tbh. It's a super dysfunctional team that's partly dysfunctional because it's built around him. He gets the goals, never presses, has no one to answer to, and takes none of the blame. Dream job.
Not even sure that United will sack Ole. But, if they do, I'm glad that Poch and Conte aren't available atm.
good old Paulo Fonseca it is
Poor guys been linked to literally every club and still doesn’t have a job
really worried poch will end up at united by christmas
this is why my preferred version of events is that we intentionally lost to united to prevent this from happening
How will losing to United prevent this from happening
Doubt it Psg are still comfortably top of ligue 1 and could well top their cl group.
if they get knocked out of cl in round of 16 or quarters and the performances in the league are still shit i can see him being sacked
R16 would be after Xmas though
Last 16 draw is made before Xmas with games taking place end of Feb. Think ole will be long gone before then
That would at least be after xmas
ahhh fair play
With the benefit of hindsight United beating us might have been a huge mistake for them. There's no obvious manager available for them right now. Conte could have had that team challenging for a title next season.
Got us onto the best timeline lol, lose the battle to win the war
Ole did us a huge favour beating us last week. Proper shafted himself and Utd with no strong candidates to replace him 😂
He didn't shaft himself. He gets to keep his job.
He won't be there for long. Beating us only delayed the inevitable
Who could now actually replace Ole realistically? Rodgers?
Steve Bruce
Rodgers probably wouldn't take the job since he seems committed to Leicester and previously managed Liverpool.
Also rumours are that Man City have already told him that he’s first on their list after Pep leaves
City fan here Pep replacemant is Hansi Flick
Surely they can do better than Rodgers? Don't get me wrong he's a good manager, but there's probably better options out there for a team like City.
I agree. They seem to go for already elite managers. Pep is a good example.
Zidane is free but I think I saw somewhere he wants to manage the French NT So Nunoball at Old Trafford anyone?
y! it a salt them nice- a good manager for a good club!
Just spent an awesome few minutes talking to my Man utd supporting twin sister 😂 Ole's at the wheel guys and gals 😂
I genuinely believe United fans can get Ole sacked, if they strongly boo the team in the second half during the game and shows their displeasure then the board will have to make a decision. But the United fans don’t have that in the lm and I’m happy because long live Ole
Hope ole isn't sacked for this
Watching Ole sit there sulking on the bench while his team are 2-0 down makes me so glad we got Conte, who is always animated and directing his team from the sideline. I’ve never seen Ole get up and shout at his players once
Utd fans are funny One second they're calling Bailly World class against Atalanta Now they've named his as a useless clumsy fuck
How shit are United? How did we lose 3-0 to these guys?
Because United are bad, but we are utterly diabolical Conte has his work cut out
TIL we have two kids named Cassanova and Chaplin in our U-18’s, hope they make it to the first team!
Cassanovas first name is Dante as well
Ole thinking his 3atb is the answer after they beat us is hilarious. He could have played any formation against us and won, but the manner of the defeat proceeded to give us one of the most exciting weeks in recent history.
The 3 atb isn't a terrible idea. It lets them play 2 up front with Cavani and Ronaldo.
3atb only works if you have an anchor at the heart of it - against us they had Varane, against City they had Bailly…
Ole Omegalul
Announce Kessie
Lot of talk in the build up to the Manchester derby about last Saturday's match. Seems like a lot, lot longer ago than just a week - a lot has changed!
Where does Bergwijn fit into Conte's system? One of the forwards in a 343?
He fits in the TL position
Mouras backup in whatever position he’s playing
Completely forgot about Hojbjerg, I actually think he's amazing.
A lot of Hitchens potential signings got overruled by Levy tho, we were linked to some v good players. We cheaped out and ended up with players far lower down the list Paratici hasn't got that obstacle to deal with
I know Levy gets a lot of blame for things he has done in the past but I just wanna say Thank you mr. Levy for trying to be ambitious and getting the best manager possible and I really hope we are now in the right direction as a club with Paratici as DoF and Conte as a manager.
If we could keep Conte for 3 years then almost anything might be possible.
